Love Letters to Poe: Vol. 1, Issue 1 A Toast to Edgar Allan Poe
In the inaugural issue of Love Letter to Poe, you'll be treated to six Poe-inspired short stories, including:
"The Rowhouse" by Jeremy Megargee "The Song of Helaine" by J.L. Royce "The Heart of Alderman Kane" by Eleanor Sciolistein "Kingdom by the Sea" by Troy Seate "Thief of Eternal Delights" by Renee Cronley "Midnight Rider" by Melanie Cossey
Twelve volumes in all, this is an excellent collection of short stories and poems that evoke the themes and settings of Edgar Allen Poe. Obsession, consumption, unruly ravens, houses that need a lot of work; ghosts, angels and demons; phantoms and phantom limbs, to name just a few. Some pieces even explore a familiar Poe story or poem from an unexpected point of view. The stories are quite short, so the authors have had to work at compressing their tales, achieving their effects as economically as possible. Well done!
This is a fantastic first issue to the new Love Letters to Poe online journal. These gothic short stories are all a tribute to the genius of Poe. Every story in this collection is well done so if you love gothic, give this a read!
