I downloaded this from Kindle Unlimited and am torn on whether I like it. The storyline is good and the comaraderi is great. What I struggled with was the backstory. The main character Carmen is trained as an assassin from childhood. She apparently was top student and then loses sight in one eye and becomes useless. She suddenly has not skills and cannot fight. Very contradictory from beginning. Possible SPOILER ALERT...They become assassin's at the age of 16, but this girl is useless. Seriously she is nothing without her dragon counterpart. I just cannot decide if I want to continue with book 9. Took me ages to get through as well, which is very unlike me. Overall a bit underwhelming.
Finally got to read the Omnibus (love that word!) after seeing on the author’s newsletter that all 8 books were available-for $.99 though I’d have paid much more for this set. I hate starting a series and not knowing when the next book will arrive (The Name of the Wind comes to mind...) so this was a delightful read. The series had good characters and the plot came full circle to develop satisfactory conclusions. I highly recommend this set if you enjoy a fantasy, assassins and dragons and wizards, oh my!
Great story of mortal and her friend the dragon 9 stars
Every assassin dreams of being the best but Carmen had to share with her twin until he accidentally blinded one of her eyes. Then she had to work twice as hard to get passing grades. Then came the day she found the Dragon and topped that with her brothers betrayal and her world fell apart. This story is how the dragon saved her and she him and the rest fell in place.
An excellent set of books full of action, adventure, betrayal, friendship, love, hate, laughter, tears, and of course dragons and assassins! And having all the first eight books in one omnibus edition makes it great value too! Highly recommended
Dragons, assassins, wizards! What more can you ask for
Loved the bonds between the main characters. I will say that this is definitely one of my favorite series to read. The growth of each of the characters and how they changed was fascinating. I can hardly wait to read the last two books in the series or chapters or whatever. I even paid full price for them
Carmen finds a chained Dragon and everything changes. She makes a deal with the Dragon to free him. Then the assassin school is attacked. Her journey with the Dragon and her friends leads to a wild ride. The world building is well crafted. This author has been added to my favorites list.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading these series of books. Completed series are especially delicious because there is no waiting period for the next book. The characters were thoroughly developed and believable. The plots, history and backgrounds were on point.
I thoroughly enjoyed the series such rich characters such an amazing story I literally could not put it down I hope everyone who reads this enjoyed it as much as I did can’t wait to read the last two books
Dragon Assassin Omnibus: Parts 1-8 was a great read, had trouble putting it down! Was so thrilled that there was Dragon Assassin 4 (Dragon Assassin Omnibus) 9 and 10, that I immediately began reading it! I will be checking out more of Arthur Slades's books, love his writing!
Carmen and her brother are in assassin school and things don't go as expected. There is a snarky dragon. There is magic. People almost die. People do die.
Funny, heartwarming, snarky, great characters, an inventive storyline and a plot that moves rapidly I loved this series and finished it in a couple of days reading almost nonstop
This series was totally different than what I expected. I enjoyed it though, learning about all the characters and their backgrounds. I love the Omnibus versions as well, because you can go from one book to the next without having to download after searching for it.
Absolutely wonderful set of books. I read most of them upon initial release but if you have been curious about Art's books then I would start here. High;y recommended!
