This was exactly what I needed this holiday season. A book that gives you that warm cozy feeling. The main characters were great, the writing was excellent and flowed perfectly.

Was a fast paced read, I never felt bored or uninterested. The ending was magical and left me smiling.

I highly suggest this book!

I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

CHRISTMAS COVE SUNG TO ITS OWN MELODY

The story is the first in the Christmas Cove series—a small town in California. The town's name was Pine Cove, but the yearly Christmas Eve tradition of running into the local freezing cold lake while fully decked out in Santa suits inspired the nickname. "Christmas Cove sang to its own melody."

The story is a sweet small-town romance revolving around Christmas, traditional events, the coffee shop, its owner, and the town's event organizer. It is full of angst, grief, and healing. The people of the town are charming and add to this tale. There are no intimate scenes, only kissing, but it does have some profanity. The story will mainly revolve around two people, Jasper Jackson and Eve Harrington, but they have several secondary people who play vital roles.

Jasper Jackson has returned to his hometown to continue running his parent's Coffee Shoppe after their shocking accident and death while they were on vacation. Jasper lived in the Bay area doing SEO optimization, which helps smaller companies compete with larger companies.

Eve Harrington works as the Chief of Staff (COS) for Mayor Nicholas Crum. She is still a newcomer to town, only being here for about one year. Her job includes ensuring things and events run smoothly—like the annual Santa Swim and After Party. Eve had left her previous position after her ex lost his reelection campaign and decided it was her fault. She escapes to Christmas Cove and the charm and charism of the town and its people.

The story's plot will have Jasper and Eve butting heads over Christmas, decorations, the Coffee Shoppe, and the After Party days before Christmas. Two weeks prior, when the community center is damaged during a storm, Eve must find a way to make everything still happen and comes up with the idea to recreate "Christkindlemarkt" using downtown Main Street as the location. Closing off Main Street, adding small wooden huts to sell items—a small village atmosphere where people could celebrate, eat, visit with friends and take in the holiday specter. The only problem, the Coffee Shoppe is centrally located, and Jasper wants nothing to do with it—he is even talking about closing days before Christmas.

"The Coffee Shoppe's name and aesthetic played into the town's charm. Most of the buildings along this stretch of the Christmas Cover were made of brick with planked wooden floorboards. They were relics of the town's gold-mining past. It wasn't hard to imagine people walking around this very town a hundred or two hundred years ago."

When a whirlwind named Eve comes into the shop and has all kinds of Christmas plans, it is more than he can handle, and his refusal causes issues between them. Jasper is so overwrought with grieve from his parent's accident, partly guilt for being away, and maybe even bitterness for returning to their legacy and giving up his future. But this is after they become friends and start developing feelings for one another—will Christmas be their falling out?

Bex: "Not all people grieve in the same way, Eve. He wants to do it his own way, and you meddled with that."
Eve: "He misses them, and I wanted to show him how much I—I love him, Bex."
Bex: "I know you do."
Eve: "But he was so cruel."
Bex: "Hurt people hurt people. He needs time, and you need to respect that."

"Jasper disarmed me. He challenged me and cared for me, and then he shut me out. The man was like a high-security vault, hard to decode but worth it when you did, as long as it didn't snap closed on your fingers."

The story is about friends, a small town with many traditions, like the Santa Swim and After Party on Christmas Eve. It is also about two people, Jasper and Eve, who connect but must traverse the muddy waters of grieve and healing. Jasper grew up here, knows most of the people and their families, and celebrating isn't in his vocabulary. Eve is outgoing, energetic, and steamrolls ahead with her plans—but it is her job to make sure things happen, including the Santa Swim and After Party events. Will the help of a mutual friend, Bex, repair the damage caused by harsh words and hurt feelings? Has Jasper finally pushed Eve away? What will happen with the Main Street After Party? Can Santa save the day—or night with the help of volunteers?

"I need your elves—I mean volunteers—to help me save the day."

This was a super cute Christmas novella. It was definitely more on the sweeter side of romance but it was still a good short story. I liked that it was a classic town Scrooge story falls for the person bringing Christmas cheer. But I could had done with some more relationship focus. Like where they actually go on a date together. That would have been a nice addition. But the way it was written made the story move along quickly and made sure that the couple got the HEA. And that’s really all anyone needed in a Christmas romance.

I don't generally enjoy Christmas books but I really enjoyed this story. At first, I thought I was just feeling sentimental but... I read it for a second time and loved it even more. It had a Hallmark/Gilmore Girls feel so I grabbed my tea, settled on the couch and read this novella in one sitting.

This is a quick read but I liked that. It was entertaining.

What a cute Holiday Romance that will make you want to sit in front of the fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate! Christmas is my favorite holiday because I love the decorations, gift-giving, and all things peppermint! I also love watching all the movies and reading all the holiday books and this was the perfect first Christmas book of the season! It made me want to pack my bags and move to Christmas Cove so I could be a part of all the festivities! Christmas at the Coffee Shoppe is short, sweet, and has all the amazing Christmasy feelings that will warm you up!

I connected so much with our heroine, Eve! She loves the holidays and is determined to make this year the best Christmas yet! Jasper on the other hand is pretty much the Grinch. He is still struggling with the death of his parents and the last thing he wants to do is act out all the town traditions without them. But Eve is determined to spread holiday cheer and ensure that even Mr. Grinch himself has a good time. I loved the sweet little moments between these two! The little touches or random acts of kindness between them really brought butterflies to my stomach.

This was such a delightful novella and now I am gearing up for all the other holiday books to come!

Christmas at the Coffee Shoppe by Erika Lynn
Alternating chapters from Jasper and Eve.
Book starts with a prologue where Jasper has cancelled the decoration and party, everything.
She plans to make the town a marketplace and it sounds very festive to me. She is out running and injures her ankle and Jasper comes up and carries her to his house then home in his car.
Doc gives her a boot to wear and she can do her job still. The adult swim after party is planned, I can not even imagine what this is all about.
The mayor and will be leaving after the holidays.... and he knows exactly who will take over for him.
She already runs the show...She is always supportive of her friends Vanessa and Bex especially when they are adopting. She even offers to help.
Something sets Jasper off when he finds a list of names and then heads back to his parents house... He's still getting over the loss of them and it's been a hard thing to handle.
Love what Eve does with the decorating and the things Jasper picks up on.
They are so far apart from one another there is no way they will be able to make up with one another. It's gone too far...
Ends with other books in the series and about the author.

Eve Harrington hasn't lived in Christmas Cove her entire life but she loves it nonetheless. When she meets Jasper Jackson at his parent's Coffee Shoppe there are some definite sparks floating around the two. It's just a little confusing trying to figure out his hot and cold behaviour.

After his parents shocking death a month ago Jasper has returned to Christmas Cove to take over their Coffee Shoppe. He just never expected a Christmas decorating whirlwind to come bursting into his business and turn his life upside down when he is still suffering tremendously from the loss of his parents.

I mostly liked this book if it weren't for a few odd issues.
The first chapter was fine except then it jumps to the entire rest of the book which takes place over the previous two weeks. By the time I got to the end of the book I had to go back and reread the first part to remind myself of all those details I'd half forgotten. There were also some issues brought up but not fully explained. Why was Eve raised by her grandparents? Why were we given just enough details about Eve's ex to have us wanting more?

A super sweet Christmas romance. I always loved the idea of a small town Christmas. It’s homey, there’s usually a great sense of community and Christmas spirit and it just seems like great fun. Eve and Jasper seem like total opposites with Eve trying to create the perfect Christmas event and Jasper being the grinch. With Jasper having recently gone through some tragic life-changes, the holidays were a bitter sweet reminder of things that were and of things that won’t ever be. Eve was the perfect person to bring some joy back into his life.

This book was light and refreshing with great Christmas spirit. I thought it was awfully short until I realized it was a novella, but I would have still loved more from this book. More everything, a little more drama, a little more backstory on Eve and her family, maybe some fun stories about Bex and Jasper growing up, and maybe some spice. But overall I really enjoyed this book! I would easily recommend, especially for my friends who like light romances.

Book 1 in the Christmas Cove series. This is a clean romance book. It is a very feel-good story! A Hallmark type storyline and I loved every minute!

I definitely highly recommend this one if you’re looking for a happy, quick Christmas novella (doesn’t even have to be read at Christmas - could be anytime)!

Book 1 is the story of Jasper, who returns to Christmas Cove just after his parents are lost in an accident, to run their coffee shop, and Eve, new to town and working as the Mayor’s right-hand. Eve is planning the After Party for the annual Santa Swim when the regular location, the community centre, has an unfortunate incident leaving it unusable. In a bind to find a new one, Eve meets Jasper at the Coffee Shoppe and forms a plan to create a European themed Christmas market along Main Street with the Coffee Shoppe as the main booth.

Will Jasper, the grumpy Scrooge who is still suffering so much grief, go along with the plan, or ruin everything?? You’ll have to read to find out - trust me, it’s so worth it!!

Book 2 in the series was released on Dec 22 and I’m excited to read straight away!

Eve is in charge of an After Party in the small town of Christmas Cove. There is the tradition of jumping in ice cold water, called the Santa Swim, on Christmas Eve. The After Party is to be filled with hot drinks, food and fun. It would be a busy enough job, but Jasper, the owner of the local coffee shop wants nothing to do with Christmas. Can Eve still pull off this important event?

Author Erika Lynn has written a delightful Christmas novella with Christmas at the Coffee Shoppe. She shows Eve's upbeat side as well as why Jasper has become such a Scrooge. Readers can relate to how emotional baggage can prevent you from moving on with your life.

Small town settings are a favorite of mine. Christmas Cove has the charm and loving spirit that is often hard to find these days.

Just as the author writes in her "About the Author" section, I get more carried away each year with Hallmark Christmas movies and tons of Christmas romance books. This novella will lift your spirits and make you smile.

I won a signed copy of this book from Noelle. I was so excited bc I had read her first book The Flight Girls and had loved it. This book is inspired by 2 girls who were part of the Dutch resistance during WWII. If I had the time, I would have read this book all in one sitting. I didn’t want to stop turning the pages. I’ve read quite a few historical fiction books about this time period. It is always so heartbreaking but also amazing to see the kinds of things people did to help the Jews during this horrible invasion of the Nazi’s. You will be cheering for these 2 girls and their friends as they carry out each mission. There is of course heartbreak along the way, as there is with any war. I highly recommend this book, especially if you enjoy historical fiction. I can’t wait for Noelle’s next book.

A Hallmark movie in a book but with far less cheese.

The town of Christmas Cove feels like the most idyllic place to spend Christmas. Erika Lynn has vividly created the town everyone dreams of at Christmas. I wanted to leap into the page and live there.

The plot isn't just warm and fuzzy Christmas though, there is depth to it. There's loss, loneliness as well as happy ever afters. Lynn definitely could have made this a full novel and expanded on some of the plot line, it feels a tiny bit like it flies through the story hence why its a 4 star. This is a series that could easily be expanded.

3.5 STARS --- I read Christmas at the Coffee Shop and it was a little difficult for me to finish, but I pushed through. The storyline was okay but the pacing was very, very slow. There was no 'action' in the book. The conflict was present but it was pretty tame. As a reader, I learned a lot more about Eve than I did about Jasper. Jasper was someone I definitely wanted to read more about besides he looked like a lumberjack with hot forearms. With all that being said, I think this book was well-written and the secondary characters were lively. I would try reading something else from this author.

While Christmas at the Coffee Shoppe had a great story line, I felt the book was rushed. I would have liked to have had more backstory on Eve and the events that lead up to her arrival in the town. Also more interaction between Eve and Jasper that would show more feeling than the few push/pull moments.
There were also parts that I had to jump back a page to see if I had missed information because the writing jumped around.

Loved it.

Losing someone you love is hard at any time but even more difficult when it's sudden. The first Christmas is especially hard when those that were lost celebrated the holiday with cheer.

Jasper struggles with the grief and Eve tries her best to help.

The story feels real and I fell into it with ease reading non stop from beginning to end.

A heartwarming Christmas story! Christmas Cove is a new goal for a place to live!! You could feel the magic in the air as you read along.

Jasper was having such a difficult time dealing with the grief of losing his parents he took it out on everyone in town. The right woman came along to help him heal and move forward with a little help from "Santa" of course.

A sweet story with humour laced in so that the heavy parts didn't feel quite as heavy.

This is a fun Christmas novella. Jasper is home to take over the coffee shoppe after the sudden death of his parents. Eve is new to the town and the Mayor’s chief of staff. I found the book enjoyable and put me in the Christmas spirit. I wouldn’t mind returning to Christmas town again for another instalment. I received this book from Booksirens. Even through seemingly impossible (sometimes very stubborn) obstacles, good can come out of bad situations. Keeping positive and learning to love life for what it is and not just looking at all the bad stuff that has happened can change your life (usually for the better).

"Grief lives on a person like a scar, carried with them for the rest of their days."

I REALLY liked this one. Full of Christmas vibes and small town vibes. I liked both the characters a lot and was very invested in their story. I do feel there is something missing...but I can't quite put my finger on what it is that is keeping this from being a new favorite. But I definitely recommend it and I am definitely planning to read more in this series.

But is Jasper ready to expand his circle and let Eve in? Such an adorable story. Love, loved it !
