A pretty well written book, it may require a sequel.

Steadfast and true
This is an at times uneven book written in a very down to earth style, but it has lots of good points and Mark Lamb's genuine qualities shine through. He comes across as a calm, steadfast and thoughtful man and the structures his book around sayings, mantras which he's found useful to guide him during his life.
Lamb weaves his experiences from his many career turns into these chapters and especially when he speaks about his time as Sheriff, it makes interesting reading.
Chapter 7 stands out: Those Who Mind Don’t Matter and Those Who Matter Don’t Mind. This is a very deft analysis of those who can surround someone, anyone who has a bit of character or fame. He talks about the haters and crazies and 'friends' who are not what they seem in a very astute and incisive way, there are lots of pointers which are good to bear in mind in many situations.
Chapter 10 Fear Not, Do Right is another extremely good section in which he describes his thoughts on the response to covid and he outlines the time when he could no longer support the Governor of Arizona's decisions, instead Lamb favoured upholding the Constitution as he had sworn to do in his Oath of Office. Needless to say he was bombarded with hate messages and vilified in the press whilst he held steady to his beliefs and also had a lot of support from other people. Riveting stuff in the febrile atmosphere which prevailed during covid!
This book could be a very good guidebook for life especially for a young person. It's also interesting as Lamb explores the many jobs he has done and the lessons he learned along the way and how he applied them to stay on track. His experience as Sheriff in a part of Arizona is covered as the central connecting theme of his musings on life.
It's a fairly short and interesting read which I very much warmed to as I went along, because Lamb's genuine and open character shine throughout.

A Lot to Admire
I'm giving this book three-and-a-half stars rounded up to four because of Sheriff Lamb's message. The writing is awkward in slot of places and the book needs some serious editing. However, the sheriff's sincerity, enthusiasm, and obvious love for his family, his constituents, and America outweigh those shortcomings. Everybody should read and pay attention to the way the sheriff does his job and lives his life.

If you’re a fan of Livepd you’re probably familiar with Sheriff Mark Lamb.
He was featured on it several times, as well as guest hosting.
Mark is a hard working husband, father, grandfather and Sheriff!
This book is a wonderful look at Sheriffs life. Both personal and professional.

Excellent book. I highly recommend it even if you have no interest in law enforcement. This book is about life lessons and how to keep going when things get tough. Written from the perspective of a man on faith but not overly religious in the book. Check it out and get your kids to read it too. He offered many bits of advice that will serve anyone well as they take on the challenges of life.

Sheriff Lamb is real, he’s not fake. He is who he is and you like him or you don’t. I happen to like him. He is a great sheriff, husband, father, and church leader. He values God and country and the constitution. This is a great book, I recommend this book to anyone.

Honest
Sheriff Lamb is upfront and honest about his beliefs and command style. I wish other "politicians" would read his book. I would like to work for him.

A Good Read
I first learned of Sheriff Mark Lamb for A&E's program Live PD. I was impressed with his personable approach to his work and the people he serves. This book have me a greater understanding of my perception.
