Do you enjoy realistic medieval warfare? How about genre-bending, plot-twisting thrillers?
Fourteen homes and counting. Sabin longs for freedom, escape from the foster system holding him captive. His latest foster family is so abusive he fears for his life and is forced to consider life on the streets, though he’d rather cling to the distant hope of emancipation. A local sword-fighting arcade tournament offering huge prize money gives him a reason to hold on.
Sabin, Escape from Foster Care is a coming of age fantasy fiction young adult novel over 90,000 words. It is a story of survival, impossible ethical choices, friendship, and hope.
This first novel in a planned series will appeal to readers of commercial urban and contemporary fantasy. Like The Chronicles of Narnia and the Harry Potter series, the book starts in the present and journeys into the fantastical.
This book is a really fantastic read! His descriptive writing helps create a movie in your head. The character development is fantastic and I instantly connected to the main characters.
Your heart will race with anticipation AND it will ache for the plight of the characters.
I enjoy books that teach me something new, make me feel strong emotion for the character, and that keeps me guessing until the end. The author accomplished all three in his debut novel. He captured my attention and empathy at the beginning and I anticipate the next book to learn what Sabin will be confronted with next.
Very well written I really cared about the characters as they struggle ed in had empathy in their fight. As a foster parent myself it is obscene to see the corruption in the system. Fight back with love and compassion to these kids, our most vulnerable.thank you Mr rundolin.
What a fun read! Easy to dive right into characters (especially Sabin) and watch them grow throughout the story. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone looking for an exciting fantasy story to read.
This didn't fit the mould of other books I've read and I didn't know the direction it would take as the story unfolded. It was quite dark and bleak, perhaps more so than is my personal preference, but it also had many gripping and fast-paced sections and easily kept me engaged the whole way through. Lots of unique ideas that will stay with me after reading, I enjoyed it, a really interesting and original book.
Knowing that children actually go through the types of things in this book breaks my heart. Knowing that I can't rescue every single one makes me angry, sad, and frustrated. Just like in the story though there is hope that these children grow up to break the cycle and love a life full of love.

Please take the content warnings seriously. Also please note, if anyone thinks that the author is overexaggerating the suffering of foster kids in present day America, they are gravely mistaken.
