Now living in northern Colorado, Kathryn continues her personal studies of historical clothing, courtly graces, and martial combat in medieval reenactment. She enjoys hiking in the mountains with her husband, knitting with her Maine Coon curled up at her side, and drinking unreasonable amounts of tea.

As we spend time locked in our homes
Perhaps then, instead of our phones
You might take my lead
And instead choose to read
And have your nose shoved into some tomes
If fantasy be what you seek
As your days blend into a week
Then allow me, my friend
To full recommend
A book that faileth to reek

And beasts oh-so-feral

Enjoyed it!
The story is black & and white, good and evil, rich and poor, powerful & dependent and innocent and wise. But this author took time to develop the shades & highlights that made the characters feel real. The pace was good - not too much angst - but some reasonable consideration. It was mostly clean with a sweet romance building. I look forward to the next in the series.

This was a beautifully written fantasy. The fae realm was vivid and intriguing, and the author did a wonderful job of drawing the reader into it. The characters were likable, and the story was one I wouldn't mind continuing. Which is good, since I believe there are more books in the series! Yaay!

Brilliant!
Kathryn writes such touching characters. I enjoyed this one even more than the first book. Just the right amount of adventure, well thought out characters, descriptions of settings. Well done all around!

Such a fun read! The author pulls you right in from the start and lets the characters and the world grow as you progress through the story. Looking forward to seeing more!

I've had this book on my to-read list for a while, and it took me much longer than I had hoped to finally finish it due to my busy schedule. Having had time off, I can say with honesty that the story really pulls you in. It's an approach to a blend of Celtic and Norse lore that mythology lovers can appreciate, and Kathryn Reynolds' main characters are warm, realistic, and so approachable that one can't help rooting for their cause the entire way. Descriptive scenery fully helps the reader imagine the world Marsilia and Fjell traverse through, and the flow, along with the companionship between the pair feels natural and unhurried. If you're into fantasy, far, and folklore, I encourage you to pick up a copy of The Blessing of Equinox for a full day of wonderful reading (and don't forget the streaming mug of tea or hot cocoa to go with it)!

A delightful mix of fantasy and folklore
The story kept me reading, the worldbuilding kept me interested to learn more, and the characters drove the book forward. I enjoyed the dual perspective, going back and forth between the two main characters with very different backgrounds. Their quest was dangerous and noble, their success always in question but not unrealistic. I look forward to book 2.

an excellent example of what fantasy can be
I loved the fantasy of this book. It was a perfect balance of new and interesting but not overwhelmingly complicated. The characters are adorable and relatable. The story does have more swears than I personally prefer. There were a few grammar mistakes, mostly dangling modifiers, but as the book drew me in, I stopped noticing. This is an excellent example of what fantasy can be and I am glad I've read it.

Witch and Dwarf
When a Dark Witch curses Marsilia's father, a patient of the local hedge witch is tasked to help her on a quest to destroy the evil one. Their quest takes them into the fae realm where beings, magic, and love await.
An excellent start to a trilogy with characters I related to, grew invested in and a tale that makes me want more.

A brilliant depiction of Fae! This book was just so hopeful and so sweet. It was just the read I needed while in a dark place. I just love the characters so much! I will be binging the rest of the series now.

Kathryn Reynolds’ second book is a solid contribution to the high-fantasy genre, adorned with the expected hallmarks of dwarves, witches, and fae. At 244 pages, it reads quickly and progresses along the beats associated with fantasy, making it easy to follow and unburdened by experimental writing styles or deeply complicated histories. I read the novel over the course of a weekend.
The writing demonstrates the author’s familiarity with both source folklore spanning from Ireland to Scandinavia, while bearing the marks of more contemporary fantasy writers. Ms. Reynolds steps outside convention in places with regard to the stereotypical traits of classic fantasy archetypes, but not in ways that distract from the telling of the tale. While stringent fans of traditional fantasy might take exception with the amalgam of traditions from disparate cultures, she blends them in ways that are neither offensive to their origins nor incompatible with one another.
The plot itself follows Marsilia, a white witch in desperate need of assistance from the fae realm, who joins forces with a dwarven warrior to stop a dark force threatening her home. Along their journey they must learn to work together, survive natural and supernatural perils, navigate the courts of dwarves and fae, and hope to return home before it’s too late. The writing is consistent without becoming predictable and carries the story with pace and voice that are easy to follow.
