The hostile human nation of Falmuth staged a devastating attack on Tempest, the peaceful land of monsters. Now, in order to bring back the dead and protect the living, Rimuru is determined to become the most feared of beings: a Demon Lord. But this evolution comes at a terrible price, and the assailing humans will soon realize how poorly they've chosen their enemy...
The arc continues with battles against the invading force from the Kingdom of Falmuth, and the Western Holy Church - including the three pricks that were behind the original skirmish within the city of Rimuru.
There's also the beginnings of Rimuru's transformation, and the summoning of some interesting new characters - I'm intrigued to see where things are going to be going next c:
Chapter notes below for personal reference: (potentially spoiler heavy)
With some of Tempest's best fighters seeking out the stones responsible for the barrier around the town we see the them able to unleash against their opponents as only they can. With the fury of fallen comrades to fuel their fight but cold logical skills to fall back on the humans will not be in for so easy a fight when it comes to them,
Meanwhile above the commanding tents of the military forces we see Rimuru has decided to take on the responsibility to stop the true monsters (see humans from the Falmuth kingdom) to become a true Demon Lord which has a low chance to save the lives of those ambushed by Falmuth's cowardly attacks earlier. Time is of the essence and Rimuru knows a thing or three about about the power of the sun as he unleashes the wrath of god upon the unsuspecting and guilty alike. With prisoners of war left but his consciousness fading and at least one other human surviving the onslaught unleashed Rimuru he decides to summon some demons to finish things up while his transformation is underway but what he got with his summon may be more than even Rimuru could imagine.
This volume puts the spotlight on how the humans have completely underestimated Tempest. Each of Rimuru's evolved followers carried out the simultaneous counterattack. One the best moments of the series so far, laced with heavier and darker themes. Two additional elements have been introduced - a powerful and sinister human mage and actual demonic entities. So far, we've only heard the term "demon lord", but actual demons appeared. And based on the dialogue, we can expect something very significant to come from these summoned demons.
Rimuru can't solve this battle through peaceful or with minimal killed, if he wants to create the conditions that will allow for him to become a demon lord so he can resurrect Shion and the residents (including women and children) already murdered by the holy army. When Rimuru goes full kill mode, it is terrifying. He also summons something that is probably going to figure very heavily in the future. Very esciting volume, and I gobbled it up pretty quick!
The humans attacked Tempest unprovoked. Rimuru is pissed, as is the majority of his fighting force. He has one chance to resurrect his fallen companions: become a demon lord. To do that, he has to murder a bunch of people.
Time for some cathartic ass-kicking, and some sickening backstabbing, followed by some awesome new characters!
This volume had me engulfed in it from start to finish, the developments are so good I can't wait to read the next one!
Plus the introduction of a new character that if you've seen the first season of the anime you'll recognise, I've wondered how long it was going to be for him to make an appearance!
Holy shit holy shit, this is getting perfect!!! I’m loving this last volumes and this is the best one so far. So much power and battles and in the end a new demon?? I just hope Rimuru reaches Tempest well
Wow. Tutto ha perfettamente senso ma... se penso alle azioni in se per se Limur sta superando un suo limite non per forza positivamente. La situazione è ancora in corso e verso fine volume si presenta un nuovo personaggio interessante. Vedremo...
Rimuru has always been OP but damn with him about to become a demon lord it is going to hit a new level. But the new summons he has in this volume oh boy I can't wait to see what they end up doing later.
