USA TODAY bestselling author Stephanie Bond was seven years deep into a systems engineering career and pursuing an MBA at night when an instructor remarked that she had a flair for writing and suggested that she submit to academic journals. But Stephanie, a voracious reader, was only interested in writing fiction–more specifically, romantic fiction.
Upon completing her master’s degree and with no formal training in writing (her undergraduate degree is in computer programming), she started writing a romance novel in her spare time. Two years later in 1995 she sold her first manuscript, a romantic comedy, to Harlequin Books.
In 1997, with ten sales under her belt to two publishers, Stephanie left her corporate job to write women’s romantic fiction full-time. In 2011,
Stephanie launched a self-publishing business. Since that time, she has sold more than 1 million copies of her own books. To-date, Stephanie has published over 70 novels and has over 6 million copies of her work in worldwide distribution in numerous languages and formats.
These daily serial sets are always enjoyable. In this one, Mallory Green is working three jobs to take care of the bills she has amassed with her husband. She thinks she finally has caught a break. But things don’t quite go as she thought they would. I was happy where Mallory ended up. I thought it was right for her.
The main character had many issues that were miraculously solved in this last segment. I kept waiting for her gradual growth-nope-not until part 6. And the romance-again right at the end. This was a big disappoint to me.
I enjoyed this series, though I had a few reservations at the end.
Namely, Mallory learned a few lessons, but not as many as I expected. A lot of things wrapped up a little too neatly and quickly for my taste and I think it was really the speed of the tidying-up that made it harder to swallow.
Overall this series delivered what I hoped for when I picked it up, which was a nice palette-cleanser. I would probably rate it a notch lower than Escort Girl, which is the only other series I've read from this author. That being said, this probably won't be the last since I enjoy Stephanie Bond's writing style and the books are the perfect size for fitting in between other reads.
Yes, it was a stressful read in a stressful year. However, I kinda wished there was more character development in these serials. I kinda forgot who some of the characters were because they disappeared. I really wish there was more character development between the love interests too...Josh basically disappears except for when he is ogling her sister...Ryan isn't a bad guy really... I would not classify this as a romance. It is a survival story and at the end she has to pick a guy she met at the beginning.
I couldn’t even finish. All along, the reader is led to hope and believe that the main character is growing and learning how to have healthy relationships, with people as well as with money, and instead, in the end, she chooses to stick her head in the sand and avoid it all. She is possibly worse off than she was before the whole experience began. Thoroughly depressing.
I have read all the "girl" serials to date. Each heroine has been the same. Always after the wrong man but with a good man waiting in the wings. But not having a backbone to stand up for herself and taking all the crap dished out by everyone she knows is the end for me. I am emotionally exhausted by the end of each serial. The next one will make it without me.
I'm glad she ended up with who she ended up with but feel slighted that we didn't find out about the DNA test. Why? I'm glad she was generous with her money but that drove me bonkers.
I am having so much trouble writing this review without leaking spoilers! What I can safely say is that it is an awesome story from July 1st through December 31st. The ups and downs of the life of a lottery winner must be crazy. I can only imagine after reading this series. I've read all of Stephanie Bond's serial stories and loved them all. I would be hard-pressed to pick a favorite. She is such a gifted storyteller! I must admit that I cheat and download the compilation of daily stories each month because I just have to know what is happening to Mallory as soon as possible.
Well-written, clean, intriguing, entertaining...I could go on and on. Do yourself a favor and download the series now.
This is part 6 of 6 part daily serial, part six is December and ultimately the last part to the story.
Loving the concept of this daily serial, in LOTTERY GIRL, a young woman (Mallory) who's unlucky in life, in love, and in fortune hits the jackpot! But can money truly buy happiness?
The Daily serial has been fun, some highs, some lows and a hell of a lot of drama, highly entertaining though. I enjoyed the last book, seeing it all come together for Mallory, still don’t agree with some of the decisions she made but hey ho. I’m glad she got her happy ending in the end and that she ended up with the right guy.
It makes one think about all the things that can go wrong with winning a Lottery. How many people would sue you if you did win a large prize? How many of your current ‘friends’ might turn on you to get some of that money? How about long lost relatives? How many of them would suddenly ‘pop up’. and. Ask you fro give them money because you suddenly have some? The same thing for previous coworkers. Did you have a long ago conversation where you unthinkingly said you would give them some money, or, maybe even half. These are things you should think about before handing over the two or three dollars.
Well written, but often pulled at your heart strings, with anger for the bad thing that could happen to one. This Serial teaches us, life is not a bowl of cherries, but going through bad times can help us become the person we have potential to. Thank you Stephanie Bond for this serial, Mallory has survived the tough time in her life, and so can we all survive the tough times of Covid19.
Lottery Girl is a daily serial and runs from July through December and Part 6 is December. Mallory was working 3 jobs and was having marital problems and then she won the lottery. Winning the lottery helped in some ways but was challenging for her in others. Follow along with Mallory to see how she handles the challenges she faces and Part 6 is the culmination of the serial. It has been an interesting and enjoyable serial.
This kindle e-book novella is from my Kindle Unlimited account book six of six
The Lottery Girl 👧 is broke. Then her ex husband dies. She inherits his estate. She makes plans totally different from the first time. It all comes to a happy ending 😀.
I would recommend this series and author to 👍 readers of romantic family and friends relationships adventure novels 👍🔰. 2024 👒😀💘
This book really seem like my life if i would have won the lottery, it ended just the way I wanted it to end. Mallory character had survived all the wrong that was put upon her. She truly is a woman of character, and it seems that the simple things in life is better, and less stressful.
I really enjoyed your book and I loved your characters. Each one felt like they belonged in the story. I firmly believe that winning the lottery can do more harm than good if you have to release your name. She really found out who her friends were which was best. Thanks I have read other books you have written and enjoyed them all.
I love that she has these shorts books in q series. That way I still get the feel that I'm reading a 500 page book. This is my third series of hers and I am hooked. It's funny, quirky, sassy and it always in with a twist you didn't see coming. Please write more Stephanie. I'm ready for the next series.
I just love reading Ms Bond's books. It's like reading about your neighbors. How you put characters from other books in all your stories makes it seem like a compilation of my friends lives. Can't wait for the next one.
Another successful serial. Thank you for this thought provoking story of a young lady who finds her way. Money isn't everything, bit it can do good things when your heart is in the right place.
All 5 books in the series keep up the interest as Mallory’s life seemed to go off the rails over And over again, but she never lost her “goodness” ! I couldn’t stop reading. Very well written A+
Couldn’t put the story down. Great plot. Good characters. Good lesson that money doesn’t always bring happiness. Excellent twists and turns but I knew Mallory would end up with Josh but that’s okay!
What a very special series this was from beginning to end. Ms Bond has written many great books, but these series she writes are very special and inspirational.
