The Return

Rate this book
When Emma Floyd, the best-selling mystery novelist, can’t find a plot for her latest book, she turns to her friend, who shares the gossip about an unidentified corpse. The coroner is performing an autopsy on the woman and shares some details about the case. The woman might be a long-missing victim of a local strangler.
She goes to the library to find research material, only to find another mystery in where the bound books have gone. However, the story doesn’t stop at the page for Emma. She meets an expert on the strangler, but a mysterious force makes three separate attacks on her and those involved in the case.
As the clues start to come together about the mysterious corpse, Emma finds her life in danger and wonders if she’ll be alive to finish the book based on this case.

I just read Forgotten – The Return by Marc Timms. It is a detective type story where Emma Floyd, a writer trying to get inspired for a new book, comes across a dead body. Perhaps this is part of a serial killer cold case? She starts to investigate “for her book” but also trying to help the police in a way. It doesn’t start off very well. I enjoyed the main character, Emma, and her attraction to Tim, the coroner. A secret is partially exposed at the end. Can’t wait to see how the story evolves.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

good but very short read

Great story line with good character development. Just felt like the first 1/3 of a story. There was good mystery but then everything just ended. No resolution. No anything figured out with some but of mystery to carry to another book. More like a short story. Wouldn't buy the next one u til I knew if it was an entire book. Other than not being a story it was a great short story read.

What a way to start a series! I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This author is new to me but I'm so glad I found him. The story begins by giving the reader just enough information to get you turning pages. The build up is deliberate and sets the tone for the heart-stopping cliffhanger at the end.

All good stuff. Bring on the next book.

I really enjoyed this! Fast paced and pretty good can't wait for more. An author gets alittle too involved with some murders while trying to write the perfect crime book. I received this as an ARC and voluntarily choose to reveiw.

I really enjoyed this story. Once I started it, I could not put it down. I loved the character of Emma and how she searched for the truth about the girls so she could write her novel. The ending left me needing to read the next story.

Very well-written, very short, introduction to the series. This is however only an introduction with excellent character development, great scene setting and a good plot but you will have to find the end of the story in the series. This book ends before the conclusion of the story.

A little on the simplistic side. Cliched fainting lady. Some nice ideas.

A nice short story, but a very abrupt ending. I would've liked it too be a little longer to work out some other things happening. But a good read nevertheless

An okay novella. Figured it out before the end. Heroine's character is a little shallow but I imagine it deepens in the sequels. Dialogue is ok.

I loved this book. It is first in a series and the writing is well done. I would definitely want to read more in the series. Emma is a writer and based some of her writing on real cases. In this story she gets more than a plot. She discovers something about her own family. Very good book *I received a free copy of this book from the author.
