A decent action-packed volume.

All the rangers working together again was nice. Plus some excellent, and honestly brutal fight scenes and a great cliffhanger made this a solid volume. But I did feel it felt a bit too much padding and such throughout. The third issue could have easily been nixed and wouldn't have lost the effect of the overall storyline here.

But yeah as we're hitting the end of this series before the reboot it has been enjoyable but this one a bit weaker than the last couple of volumes.

This one was an awesome giant robot packed action adventure! While the series has done great with introducing new characters, this one brings back characters we already knew but still finds ways to make them interesting. Excited to see where this story continues!

[This review covers Volumes 11-13 of MMPR, the Necessary Evil event]

Necessary Evil extends into the Mighty Morphin' title, as Jason, Zack, and Trini head off on a secret mission that threatens the entire universe as the Omega Rangers, while new recruits Rocky, Aisha, and Adam struggle to fit into the new team dynamic as Lord Zedd steps up to battle the original Power Rangers!

After the experiment of Beyond The Grid, Necessary Evil is the aftermath to Shattered Grid that we really needed/deserved. This story, split into two halves, deals with the fallout of the Morphin Grid being breached, and the effects of unrestrained Morphin' energy that opens up the MMPR world to even higher heights than before - we're out across the stars, we're dealing with refugees and such, it's a job that feels so much bigger than anything else the Rangers have faced (bar Drakkon, obviously), so it's easy to see why Boom! billed this as an event when it's really just a banner for this title and Go Go to share.

There's fun to be had back on Earth too, as the new rangers really start to bed themselves in; while Go Go introduces them, Mighty Morphin hits the ground running and gets them into the thick of it, and it's great to see their evolution, especially as the threat from Lord Zedd ramps up over the course of the event. It all culminates with a big throwdown that includes the Mighty Morphin' and Omega Rangers that feels well worthy of the oversized issue 50 that rounds it all out, which throws back to the past 50 issues (including Beyond The Grid in a really clever way).

Pencilling all 11 issues including the majority of the oversized issue 50 is superstart Daniele Di Nicuolo, who makes his mark on this book for certain with superb visuals, well choreographed fight scenes, and battles between Rangers, Zords, and newly designed characters alike that just look gorgeous.

Necessary Evil may have been as a result of Shattered Grid, but it's a superb storyline on its own that tests the Rangers, forces them to grow, and manages to juggle two storylines and introduce new characters without missing a beat. The Power Rangers are back, baby!

I really love these comics. These characters have really come into their own. They now have unique identities to their tv show counterparts. There are some great cameos in this book, as you can see on the cover of the book.

There is some beautiful imagery in this volume. Jason as the Omega Red ranger and Tommy as the white ranger fighting in the snow! Their relationship is really interesting in this volume and leads to a pretty awesome manifestation. The changing of the guards in term of the leader of the team is such a great idea for finally explore in depth. By the end of this volume, we get to see the Stone Canyon trio really come into their own and they look to Tommy as their leader.

All of the interactions between the rangers are excellent. Zack and Adam have a great conversation, which never could've happened on the show.

Tommy makes a funny reference to maybe becoming a ninja someday. It's a perfect example of the kind of humor that works so well in this comic. Referencing the shows in fun ways, while making this story so well crafted. There's a tease related to the Solar rangers that really excites me. I hope we get to see that team again.

This is such a great setup for this series and continuing story. The clencher at the end was expected, but a little disappointing. I'm hoping both of the ongoing series move forward and don't rely too much on the past and Drakkon-focused stories. I give this book a 5/5.

The Necessary Evil arc comes to a close with the defeat of Kiya and a nice assist from the Pink Ranger Slayer and the Solarix rangers. I thought that Kiya’s defeat ended on a flat note. I think I spent more time annoyed about Kiya’s betrayal than the story took in defeating her. But, aside from those issues, I enjoyed the guest appearances and the OG ranger team putting issues to rest.

At the end of the arc, the gang is back on better terms without the awkwardness that the lies created. Further, Perrot found a way to connect the Beyond the Grid arc to the current timeline in a meaningful way. Lastly, the new members also came into their own though I can’t say that I care for them in comparison to the original team. Overall, this was a solid read and journey.

A decent end to a solid story arc.

I really enjoyed this story arc, but the end felt like it lacked a bit of oomph. For all the setup they did I felt the villain was dealt with a bit too quickly. Her transition was a bit rapid too. I kinda wish they'd made this a four or five volume arc instead of three so that they could spend a bit more time dealing with her, making us care about her, etc. Still, I enjoyed it and I'm interested to see how they handle the next story right before they go into their series reboot.

Not their best, but worth reading if you've made it this far in the series.

Again, great art but the story’s closure felt a bit rushed and the culmination of putting some of the enemies in jars and Alt-Kim as Ranger Slayer even outright killing one and eventually disappearing within the narrative felt a bit weak. Even though it felt like a deus ex machina ending, I did like that the previous series somehow mattered within the world of the mainline rangers. That, and giving the new trio something to do at the end to evoke even some small character growth made the ending maybe more satisfying than I was expecting.

This is the final volume collection of the Necessary Evil event. Kiya and her "anointed" warriors take the fight to the Rangers in an attempt to finally defeat them and create a "safe" place. This is the final battle and is absolutely awesome as we see the Mighty Mophin Rangers, Omega Ranger and Solar Rangers come together with Ranger Slayer in an amazing last stand. Then, we get the final two panels and wow! I can't wait to see what happens next!

The ongoing Omega Ranger/empowered arc comes to a close, we get ot see more of Ranger Slayer Kim, and a final page that made me say what?

See my notes for issue by issue review, cause this one was very action heavy but had some great character beats.

A fun conclusion to the story arc albeit a little rushed. The action is well done and the Trini, Kim, Zach, and Jason have some great dialogue moments. One more volume to go and the on to the duel series stuff.

This is the fifth installment of MMPR without Kyle Higgins and it's still pretty solid. Hope to see more of Omega Rangers and Ranger Slayer.

A big build up to the conclusion of the arc only for it to be solved so easily. Was a bit of a let down.
