Good Bad Idea #6

Picture Love

Felix Murphy

My friend’s hot older brother agrees to play tour guide for me in Paris, so I know I’m in for the trip of a lifetime. The best part is that Arsène is a shameless flirt who gives my vivid imagination all kinds of naughty ideas. My lack of a filter always gets me into trouble, but at least this time it’s the fun kind.

Going home alone with a broken heart as a souvenir would suck. I’d rather return to America with a gorgeous French boyfriend instead.

Arsène Devereaux

When I agreed to babysit my younger brother’s American friend, he warned me not to break Felix’s heart. I never expected to be the one in danger of falling in love. But Felix is a cute and charming smart-ass, which is an irresistible combination to me.

If he offers to play tour guide next, I just might follow him across the ocean in search of a happily ever after.

Picture Love is the sixth book in the Good Bad Idea series. This novel features a brother’s best friend, age gap, instalove romance. Full of cute sweetness and sexy fun, every story ends with a satisfying HEA and no cliffhangers. Each book can be read as a standalone or as part of the series in order.

Well this was a bust.
The bi-cultural aspect : the story is set in France but that does not come through at all outside of stereotype: "he was looking at the Eiffel Tower from his hotel window", how loaded is he? They ate snails, granted my step dad does eat them on occasion but it's rather rare to find any in restaurants. There are so many dishes that could have been chosen that it grated me. Yes Arsène speaks French at times and code-switches (which is natural) but he does not do so in a believable way. My life is pretty bilingual and code-switching is par for the course for sure but not how he does it. For example he always says "oui" and "non" in French but code-switching usually comes when you don't remember the word in the other language for whatever reason: when you learn something in a given language, you're gonna use it to talk about that subject or there are words/concept that can't really be translated (looking at you "empowerment" and "entitlement"). That's where one would code switch. It is pretty uncomfortable (mouth-wise) to switch in the middle of a sentence so to do so for words such as "oui" or "no" is non-sensical. Also he keeps saying "mon dieu" which is "my god" but not a swear word I would use or have heard used, we would probably say "putain" which is not a nice word but more accurate. Also, there a very significant differences in the way Americans and French people date, navigating that would have been interesting because it can create genuine misunderstanding and communication is needed. For example in France we don't really do the "dating phase" so we don't need to have a conversation about being exclusive or using labels. If someone asks you "tu veux sortir avec moi?" "do you want to date me?", exclusivity would be implied and the boyfriend/girlfriend label as well (I've been in the same relationship for 16 years so things may have changed but I've seen videos on youtube about French/american couples in which they had that problem because the woman felt the guy was not serious because he was not haveing "the conversation" she expected and she brought it up and he was suprised). Needless to say we did not get any of that. I've lived temporarily in the US (3months) and the UK (9months) and let me tell you it takes a minute to adapt (both experiences were great). No such problems here *facepalm*.
The relationship : insta-everything, insta-lust and insta-love. I mean the ILY come after 48h together, time during which they only talked about sex... and it's the cheesy kind of ILY: "I can't live without you", "you're the best thing that happened to me"... Give me a break!
The characters : both MCs are shallow. The age-gap (38 and 23) did not make sense and was useless (I mean it's the best-friend's brother trope but it's pretty rare to have a 15 gap between brothers, this was never explained). Arsène is such a clichée, the elitist hedonist. That's all we know about him, he does not seem to have family beyond his brother and he has slept with all his male friends...
Needless to say I'm not recommending this one but I'll keep looking for books about bi-cultural couples because a lot of French friends married Americans/Brits so I find the subject worthy and interesting it was just poorly handled here IMO.

Universal Link

When Felix is shown around Paris by his friend's older, sophisticated brother, it seems a fling could be on the horizon, if the attraction is anything to go by. But what will Felix and Arsène do when it's time for Felix to go back home? Leave behind all the lovely feelings they have developed for each other?

I've loved the 3 other books in this series that I've read, and it looks like Felix and his charming Frenchman are just going to continue my love for this fun, sexy world. Their banter is witty and fun, their chemistry is hot, and their opposite personalities fit together perfectly.

These books in the Good Idea/Bad Idea series by A F Zoelle are so good and so much fun to read, whether you read them as a stand alone or as a series. When I told my brother I would show his friend around Paris while he was here on vacation, I had no idea that Felix was someone so special I was endanger of losing my heart. But I'm the king of casual, so it was not only him who needed to guard his heart but me too.

I am really unsure just how A.F. Zoelle does it but I have once again been sucked into this book just like I have with all of the previous ones! I don't think there's been one I've not enjoyed.

Felix had my attention from the beginning when he was introduced to us, his sass and perverted gutter mind had me hooked and laughing even when I felt sad for him.

Arsène was this magnificent character. He had charm and enough confidence for both Felix and himself and I loved how he interacts with not only Felix but his brother and friends as well.

I know I will definitely be waiting for Izzy and Wren's book because I definitely need their story!

I absolutely loved this book! It was low angst, age gap (but you don't really realize that), friend's brother, insta-love, lots of banter, didn't want to put it down realness. I only read a few books in this series, so this can definitely be a standalone, but after reading this one, I can't wait to go back and read the others.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily gave my honest review.

I stumbled across Ariella Zoelle's books on K.M. Neuhold's Facebook fanpage. She promises sweet, fluff, low/no angst, lots of humor, and no slow burn. This is her Good Bad Idea series (which kicks off her Sunnyside universe). The sixth book is titled "Picture Love."

I've been waiting for this book since I started the series. Nothing is more fun than a best-friends-brother trope (okay, so a lot of tropes are my favorite--deal).

GOOD. GOD. D: This book was an arrow straight through my heart. Like, just straight through it, straight through me. Dead. I'm dead. The first chapter alone?!?! God, if I could erase my memory and reread that first chapter??? I'd be double dead (yes, that was a rhetorical question, and I answered it anyway).

For the first chapter alone, you need to read this book. For the french and the heart-eyes and jealousy of my 2020 Paris/London trip being canceled because of covid flaring again? Yes to all of that. Yes to the possessiveness and the minx-ness and the haughtiness and the pure joy and happily ever afters.

And all of the talk of being an author and having a dirty mind and writing your dream? Yeah, universe, I hear you, okay? Very subtle.

I read romance for various reasons. But more often than not, I look for a couple of things. Such as lots of dialogue with witty banter, a couple that falls in love in a way that I feel secure that some small misunderstanding is not going to take a few chapters to solve, and relevant-to-the-story sexy scenes. Luckily for me, I found the Good Bad Idea series. Why is that lucky? Because it hits these marks in ways that makes my romantic heart sing.

Picture Love is book number 6 in the Good Bad Idea series and I’ve read and loved them all! Each book focuses on a different couple and although there are appearances from previous pairs throughout (because they are all friends, or related in some way), a reader can jump in at any time. So if you haven’t started the series yet, but think this one sounds good, you can easily read Picture Love and get a satisfying story.

In Picture Love, we get a very sexy pairing between Arsène (a mature, career-established Frenchman) that agrees to play tour guide to his younger brother's American friend Felix while he is in Paris for a week. Felix is quite a bit younger and still trying to figure out his life, but is very much wanting to find love after not having much relationship luck. Fortunately upon meeting Arsène, sparks fly, clever banter and sexy times ensue which ultimately leads us to the romantic HEA that we crave in our stories.

Even though Felix is very easy to fall in love with, and I did, Arsène with his lovely French-talking sophistication completely stole my heart! Along with Arsène and Felix, I enjoyed the support from side characters and their teasing banter. There is a lot of great dialogue that always makes me happy to read, as well as keeps me immersed into the story.

If you are looking for a no-angst, funny, sweetly romantic story between two guys that fall in love in a fantastic city.... but also supply plenty of heat, then I would recommend reading Picture Love. Because, it delivers ALL of this in a big way!

This book was the equivalent of receiving the best hug you’ve ever gotten. It was such a sweet, fun read, with great banter and tons of chemistry between the two main characters. It’s a perfect read during a pandemic. You can’t help but smile while reading it.

I’ve been with this series from book one, and absolutely love how interconnected the characters from all six (soon to be seven) books are. At this point, I’ve fallen in love with them. I love the time we get to spend with them, even when it’s brief.

This is Felix’s story, and he’s off on an adventure. His friend, Izzy, set him up with a tour guide—who happens to be his older brother. They hit it off before even introducing themselves, and I loved it. Having lived an instalove story myself, I absolutely love them. This one was an utter delight. Loved. It.

Even though this is book six, it can be read as a stand-alone. Despite seeing previous couples, nothing is spoiled. It’s common sense that romances end in a HEA. I remember meeting Felix, via a phone call, in book one. I’m glad he got to enjoy himself for once, and enjoy being treated well by a lover/boyfriend. Arsène was very charming and oh so perfect for Felix. I loved them together.

I love the author’s talent for telling a story. She has a way of capturing you and drawing you in, and before you know it, the book is over. It’s happened six times, now. I’m not mad about it, though. I love getting lost in the story. I cannot wait to read Wren and Izzy’s story!

Picture Love is the sixth book in the Good Bad Idea series. Just like every book in this AF Zoelle series, this one is wonderful! The whole series is worth a read and can be read as standalones, although previous characters continue to make appearances.

In this brother's best friend romance, Arsene is a Parisian who agrees to give his younger brother's friend a tour around the city. What follows is a three day, whirlwind romance, between the older Arsene and the young American Felix.

These two are opposite in every way. In addition to the age gap, they are from different countries, have different types of upbringings, and have opposite opinions on love.

Arsene isn't looking for love. He prefers to keep things casual. But the younger Felix has hearts in his eyes, as he is searching for his one true love. At 38, this is the first time Arsene has found his heart getting involved, and it's a treat to read.

The two men are wonderful together. In addition to the attraction between them, we also get lots of funny banter. Arsene's way of speaking is a show stealer, as his proper phrasing of things is far from typical to Felix.

Picture Love is a sweet, tender, no angst romance. AF Zoelle continues to gift her readers with a fabulous couple and a sweet as can be storyline. I highly recommend this book when you're in the mood for some no angst fun.

This book gave me ALL the feels! The characters were so engaging. Felix is this inexperienced wanna be romance author that can't seem to keep a boyfriend long enough to get any worthwhile experience to write about! When he gets to Paris and sees his "tour guide", he hopes to add a few new experiences to his repertoire, and as an added bonus, he wants to post some pics to social media to make his ex jealous. Arsene is 15 years older than Felix and has seen and done most everything sexual that there is to do...but he doesn't do relationships. He's wasn't looking forward to showing his brother's friend around Paris but one look at Felix and he changes his mind. Felix is unlike anyone that Arsene has ever met and he is charmed. They say a picture says a thousand words, and the photos of Felix and Arsene say more than either of them realize. I loved the way these characters were on fire hot for each other from the moment they met. Their interactions are comical and full of passion. Each book in this series is so much fun to read and this one is even better than the last one! I highly recommend this book and the entire Good Bad Idea Series.

I am so in love with AF Zoelle’s Good Idea/Bad Idea series! These guys are all so loveable in their own way. I have been looking forward to Felix and Arsene’s story ever since the end of North and Elias’s book (who both by the way do appear in this one.) The thing about these books is that the HEA is never in question. You just have to see how it works out. These are no angst stories which I really enjoy. (I read a lot for escape. I like angsty stories; I just require a break of something much lighter after a couple of them.) Felix has zero filter, which often gets him in trouble so the hot French older brother of his friend is a perfect tour guide to Paris. Arsene is an indiscriminate flirt and a bit of a playboy, not looking for anything further than some quick hot sex with a hook up. All that changes though over the course of Felix’s holiday and he finds himself thinking that maybe there may be something worth working for over the ocean. I still seriously adore the Wests and it was fun to see them towards the end of the book. I highly recommend this entire series for some hot, sweet and flirty fun!

This is such a perfectly sweet instalove, friend's older brother, holiday romance.
Felix has made his way to Paris and Arsene has kindly agreed to play your guide but neither could gave predicted the instant chemistry or how drawn they'd be to each other. Playful flirting and lingering looks lead to so much more and despite being warned by Izzy, Felix's friend and Arsene's younger brother, both men's hearts are on the line pretty quickly.
This is yet another wonderful book in this brilliant series. I love how easily I just fall into the story and developing relationship between the MC's. Felix is funny and self deprecating whilst Arsene is suave and sophisticated. There's age gap and an ocean between their normal lives but that definitely doesn't matter as they get to know each other.
Again, there is a great cast of characters that pop up through the story, especially Augie and North, loving and supportive in very different ways.
Highly recommended story as well as the previous books in the series. I'm excited for the next one that us heavily hinted at in this book.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

I love the guys in the Good Bad Idea series so much! They’re all feel-good, warm fuzzy stories that will leave your heart feeling light. Felix and Arsene are another wonderful couple. Felix is adorable and unlucky in his love life as he keeps failing to find that someone who will put him first. When he meets his friend’s older brother in Paris, it may just be the worst time to try his hand at exploring something casual. Arsene is a player but, even when warned to not break Felix’s heart, they can’t fight the instant pull between them. Honestly, I needed them to give in as well because all their flirty banter and teasing is downright delicious!

I wouldn’t say this one is quite as insta-love as the others in the series, but it certainly doesn’t take them long at all to know they’ve found their someone special. Arsene doesn’t believe in love, and Felix is afraid fo fall again, but once again, a bad idea turns out to be very, very good.

This book is pure fun. It’s over-the-top instalove between feisty Felix and sexy Arsène, against the backdrop of super-romantic Paris. Felix’s initial plan is to visit for a few days-- and one of his first goals is to get a hot stranger to take a selfie with him (to make his cheating ex jealous, of course). That the stranger who agrees is not only super hot but also the older brother of one of Felx’s closest friends and the one who is supposed to show him around Paris is a good indicator of the kind of novel this is: everything works out in the best possible way, in defiance of logic or probability. Implausible? Sure. A ton of fun? That too. Felix and Arsène are awesome, and their close-knit weave of friends, relatives, and their significant others, including familiar faces from other books in the series, makes for a nice supporting cast for their love story.

Picture Love by A.F.Zoelle 5 stars

This whole “ Good Bad Idea” series is absolutely amazing every book is as good as the one before.
Picture Love brings Felix and Our French smoothie Arsene .
Arsene is the best tour guide you could ever have, ask Felix ?
Such witty banter and innuendos that had me laughing out loud , they are sexy and oh!so sweet —- add hilarious into the mix.

With a sexual attraction that grew more after they first met, their longing for each other was written so very well that you felt as though you were there..

This beautiful and such fun story tell of two guys who wonder if they will ever find “the one “
Felix goes to France ,Arsene is his tour guide take it from there.
I started reading with a grin ended with a bigger grin.

French accent.
Flirting.
Age difference.

3.5/5. I liked Felix and Arsène. I found their meet cute exactly that. Unfortunately, the emotional bond wasn’t strong enough for me to believe they’d actually fallen in love and should be uprooting one of their lives to be together in the same country after such a short period of time. I felt like they just hadn’t spent that much time together and didn’t know that much about one another. I enjoyed the interactions they had, I just wanted more time to build that relationship.

I did like that in the midst of exploring a kink, Felix discovered it was not actually his thing, and Arsène immediately abandoned it. So often, everything seems to go perfectly in every first time in any true love match, so I enjoyed seeing these two try something, realise it wasn’t working, and immediately adjust. The book was sweet overall, but I wasn’t quite able to suspend my disbelief for this much insta-love.

This is a book filled with men in love.
In love with friends, siblings and their partners.
Since Felix is surrounded by examples of bliss, he wants to find his too.
A trip to Paris is his reward for dumping a cheating ex. Waiting in the airport is the older brother of his best friend. Arsene is a professional photographer and they are attracted to each other immediately.
The tour of Paris Arsene takes Felix on encompasses famous sites as well as some personal ones...but when his five days is up and it's time to return home, both men are distraught.

Love, lust and a career which can be pursued on either side of the Atlantic proves to be the best ending of all! Prepare to enjoy lots of sexy times...in between the sheets and elsewhere. The romance embedded in this story is beautifully written. You'll want to travel to Paris too after reading this!

This whirlwind week-long fling with two handsome men in Paris is just what I needed. All the sexy swagger, flirty banter and cheeky teasing between Felix and Arsene is spicy, sweet and delicious, and I ate it up with a spoon. They are quite fun, adorable and smokin' hot together, and their low/no angst romance is all fluffy, steamy, swoony goodness.

"Picture Love" is my first read in the Good Bad Idea series and it truly works as a standalone. Major kudos to the author, though, for their thoughtful Author's Note explaining where the MCs feature in the previous books. I'll definitely be diving into them because Felix and Arsene's colorful family and friends are way too entertaining for their stories to go unread. I received an advance reading e-copy of this book and have left this honest review voluntarily. (Also read in KU.)

Awwww. I thought this was such a cute and sexy read. This is a new-to-me author and I haven't read any other books in the series but it didn't feel like I had too or that I was missing pertinent information about the characters. Which was really nice because the story flowed so flawlessly.

I love the whole instalove and sweet vibe from the story. The characters had great personalities and I liked the flirty commentary back and forth between them. Felix and Arsène are definitely sexy together.

I'm glad I took a chance on this book and I'm definitely interested in reading the other books in this series. The author did a great job capturing my attention throughout.

This would be the perfect romance to read if you've been reading some darker or angsty stuff and just want to meet two guys who are immediately attracted to each other, share lots of fun, sexy times in Paris and have a perfect HEA. I loved Felix and Arsene and I'll be honest, from the blurb I wasn't sure Felix would be my cup of tea. I'm not a huge fan of the smart-alek, snarky young guy as traditionally written. Often, their "witty banter" seems juvenile and leaves me cold. Hooray for Felix here, as I found none of that irritation and was charmed by him. I totally saw why a mature man like Arsene would find him a breath of fresh air and fall for him. This one goes on my read when needing a sweet, happy romantic fix shelf.

Another great book in the Good Bad Idea series. Felix, who doesn't have a brain/mouth filter, goes to France, looking forward to moving on from a bad relationship, meets his friend's older brother, Arsène, who agreed to show Felix around. The connection between the two men starts off strong, especially with the brutal honesty from Felix and the intense attraction between the two men, and grows from there. The sweet, funny, and honest relationship develops over Felix's visit and soon, you're rooting for these two men to have their HEA. A lovely read with amazing characters in a romantic setting. Highly recommended!!

I just can’t get enough of this series! Every couple I read I want more of. A.F. Zoelle has such a way with telling a story that I just can’t stop reading.

Felix is going to Paris. He needs a vacation. One of his friends brother, Arsene has agreed to be his tour guide. Felix never thought that having a tour guide would be so much fun. Between the flirting and fake kisses what could go wrong?

Felix and Arsene’s story is sweet insta- love gone right. There is just so much of these two that I love. You’re going to have to read it to find out how amazing their story is.

An I can’t wait for Izzy and Wren’s story! Love best friends to lovers.

Yes!!! I loved it!!

As an avid reader I’m always looking for books with characters I can fully embrace. It’s even better when I find it in a series. That’s what this series has done. Every book I fall deeper into the beautiful world that’s been created. I’m wanting to know more about the couples that have formed and those who are in need of their own HEA. I was so happy to learn this one was Felix’s story and that we will be getting Izzy and Wren’s story next, though March is sooo far away lol. What I love the best though is seeing the gang together. I wonder though if we will being hearing more about Westie though. I’d like to know if she ends up happy too.

Arsene & Felix have amazing chemistry! They bring the heat but they also bring great dialogue that really pulls you into the story. I loved them both so much that it made it impossible for me to put the book down once I started reading it. This is a very sweet story about to incredible men who find their HEA. I enjoyed the low angst of their relationship and the way it grew during each chapter. This is the first book I’ve read in the series but I am very excited to go back and read the rest of the series now.

I did receive a free ARC of this book from Gay Romance Reviews but that did not influence my review.

Best vacation ever!

Man, I have had a fun fling or two while vacationing in my younger days but nothing resulted in snagging the hot Frenchman! Felix is such a great character. He is a sweet, funny, sassy, gutter talking and loveable young man. Arsene is the successful photographer from France not to mention older man and older brother to Izzy. When they meet sparks fly and their relationship quickly becomes fiery between the sheets. But the way Arsene lets go and falls for Felix is really sweet. Their friends are also there to lend their advice in the normal hilarious, thoughtful and naughty way. Can't wait for Wren and Izzy next!

C’est merveilleux!

I adored Arsène and Felix’s story. I just love a romance that is really low-angst with an almost love at first sight, a bunch of sass, two guys that know what their hearts want, and lots of shmexy times! There were tears that made it hard to read. Yet, not in a bad way, au contraire, they were happy tears when I got all sappy over their love for each other. There were also tons of giggles and smiles and outright laughs. Ya gotta love a guy that can be sassy and chatty during sex!! Well I do, anyway! Felix’s sassy mouth and lack of filter were an endless source of giggles. Ms Zoelle has hit another one out of the park. Brava Ariella! Extraordinaire!

Sweet instalove in Paris.

This is an easy, enjoyable read with two wonderful main characters in Felix and Arsène.
Felix is having a holiday in Paris and his best friends brother Arsène agrees to show him around.
Felix is a cute, vivacious, charming and has no filter at all. Arsène is older, a flirt and a world renowned photographer. There’s is a case of sweet, no angst instalove with no drama on the way to their HEA.
This is a quick, easy to read age gap romance with witty banter and lots and lots of steam.

Not right for me😒

📷🗼💦 I chose to read this story in part thanks to the Parisian setting but I just found I could not connect with or care about either of the lead characters and their instant, steamy affair. I found French photographer Arsene's speech stilted and the plot just did not gel for me. I also found the frequent references to characters and couples obviously covered in a previous book in the series which I had not read distracting.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
