Em học được rằng khi cả vũ trụ nói đã đến lúc, thời khắc đó sẽ thực sự xuất hiện. Em học được rằng tình yêu đích thực sẽ đến, miễn em biết cách yêu bản thân mình trước. Quan trọng hơn cả, em học được rằng muốn trở thành người hạnh phúc, em phải bắt đầu từ trong chính con người mình, và anh à, em tin rằng rồi chúng ta sẽ tìm được người vốn định sẵn dành riêng cho mình, em tin người ấy sẽ xuất hiện.

tbh this book is my COMFORTT BOOK the illustration the words and also the stories are relateable but something that feel a little bit missing is maybe the ‘timeline’ in the story ((ada yg lompat2 gitu)) but ITS FINE this book still everything <3

Definetely not going to buy another Naela's book unless it's full drawing book. Seriously tired of the endless repetition about losing someone and loved someone on every chapter.

I read in English but this review is being written in Bahasa Indonesia
Buku Naela Ali mungkin merupakan buku yang secara tidak sadar sudah aku ikuti semua. Sejak volume pertama, Naela Ali menawarkan ilustrasi cat air disamping tulisan berbahasa Inggris yang cocok dibaca di kala hujan. Tidak itu saja, Naela Ali bahkan juga merilis sebuah buku yang lebih banyak menangkap coretan kuasnya dalam Things and Thoughts I Drew When I Was Bored.
Naela Ali mungkin ingin memberikan sebuah cerita yang mengena di saat turunnya hujan. Membayangkan bahwa pembacanya akan duduk di tepi jendela dengan segelas cokelat hangat dan seekor kucing. Alunan lagu yang sendu atau mendayu-dayu berdengung di belakang. Maka dari itu, jangan kaget jika di buku ketiga pun, suasana itulah yang masih dominan.
Stories for Rainy Days Volume III bisa dikatakan merupakan lanjutan dari Volume II. Meskipun, pembaca yang belum pernah menyimak dua buku sebelumnya (atau lupa seperti apa dua buku tersebut) masih bisa menangkap kesan gundah gulana yang ditawarkan oleh Naela Ali.
Stories for Rainy Days Volume III tidak hanya bercerita tentang jatuh cinta dan patah hati. Bukan juga kekaguman seseorang perempuan terhadap seorang pria. Stories for Rainy Days Volume III punya pesan yang lebih dari sekedar cinta sepasang kekasih. Naela Ali memberikan beberapa bagian untuk mengutarakan rasa cintanya kepada ibu dan ayah. Kisah cinta pertama seorang anak perempuan terhadap sosok ayah dan bagaimana kagum seorang anak terhadap ketegaran seorang ibu.
Sayangnya, ada beberapa hal yang melompat. Ada bab-bab yang rasanya aneh karena tiba-tiba berada pada setting lain. Bahkan ada bab yang menceritakan dari sudut pandang orang ketiga serba tahu (sebelumnya, buku ini selalu menggunakan sudut pandang orang pertama).
Alurnya pun cukup membingungkan. Bagi saya pribadi, cukup mengacaukan emosi. Awalnya, cerita mengenai jatuh cinta kembali, bertemu, dan perasaan senang berbunga-bunga karena akhirnya bisa bersama dengan pujaan hati. Tapi bab selanjutnya, seakan cerita diberikan secara terpisah. Mengenai perempuan yang akhirnya bisa lepas dari "jeratan" kekasih hatinya.
Bagi saya, Naela Ali tidak memaksakan emosi selama menulis buku ini. Ia menangkap emosi tersebut dan menuangkan dalam bentuk tulisan. Mengawetkannya dalam sebuah konteks "rainy days" yang memperkuat kesan gloomy tersebut.
Bahasanya masih nyaman untuk dibaca. Mudah dan mengalir. Begitu pula dengan ilustrasi khasnya yang cantik itu.

It has a really beautiful illustration like all of the previous books, also nice words picking and the most important is it's really relatable to what everyone has gone through.

One thing that interests me about Naela Ali is that she is a very productive illustrator. If you noticed, she would come up with another artwork every once in a short while, which is good, because that productivity has led her to be where she is now (not mentioning all the sleepless nights, prayers and stuff because I don't think that is necessary). Her artworks were just simple, not really details-oriented, and just..sweet. I knew that it's not just me thinking that her works are too random and just like some writings we can find in blog or tumblr (i bet she was just sort of redrawing the object she screenshotted on instagram and pinterest. ah, and magazine. of course, she got all those references which she wouldn't point out directly on her posts) that I couldn't stand any of it (especially the price that can't be considered cheap!). Okay, I don't blame her tho as we all got our own taste. One day, she revealed that she didn't need fame, that all she does is just for the sake of her passion. Being alive. Having purpose and all that. But then, I saw one of her books (Things and Thoughts I Drew) and I couldn't help but thinking why there has to be her name on almost every single artworks in that book?! Is she being not confident or something? Does she wants everyone who capture and post it, indirectly spread the 'news' that it is hers? I have never found any artists that is as narcissistic and self-centered as she is. Even the most adorable Indonesian artists that I knew don't even (almost never, just quiet) put watermark on their artworks that they post in instagram (it's a different story when it comes to real exhibition). Because you know, everyone can already tell! Sorry to say, but I don't think she is ready for those kind of 'artist' world as she is too concerned about herself being known (I might mistaken about this).
But two stars for her productivity tho! May she keeps doing things that make her feel most alive. Ah, and I am wondering if she really could write a real 'book'.

Ketika saya membaca buku, saya akan mengutamakan buku-buku dari penulis yang sudah pernah saya baca sebelumnya. Secara murni alasannya adalah karena saya ingin ikut berkembang bersama penulis. Saya yakin karya terbaru pasti lebih baik dibandingkan karya pertama. 'Mengikuti' karya seorang penulis membuat saya merasa mengenal lebih baik penulis.
Seperti pada buku ini.
Saya membaca hampir semua buku-buku yang ditulis oleh Naela Ali. Seri Stories for Rainy Days adalah seri yang saya baca sejak awal. Saya pribadi merasakan perubahan gaya menulis Naela Ali. Khususnya pada seri ke III ini, menurut saya ia menulisnya lebih menggunakan perasaan. Perasaan dewasa yang tidak hanya ya saya rindu kamu dalam hujan atau kita membuat banyak cerita saat hujan. Perasaan pada akhirnya bertemu orang baru, tetapi bisa bersyukur juga dengan kehadiran orang sebelumnya yang dianggap sebagai kesalahan-kesalahan terbaik.
Sejujurnya, saya tidak pernah tahu rasanya menulis tentang seorang yang pada akhirnya tidak berakhir dengan kita. Ketika saya menulis, tulisan yang saya sadari adalah tentang seseorang di waktu SMP/SMA yang memang saya tidak berniat berakhir dengan mereka serta satu orang lagi yang syukurnya membuat saya berakhir padanya.
Naela Ali menulis tentang kenangan dengan cara yang manis. Saya melihat buku ini ditulis ketika berhubungan dengan seseorang, kemudian harus berakhir karena ia melanjutkan sekolah ke LN, dan pada akhirnya persiapan menikah dengan orang yang lain.
Selamat Naela Ali. Hal yang hebat adalah cerita personal demikian bisa terbit dalam bentuk buku yang saya beli dan baca.
Sekali lagi, cerita yang cocok dibaca untuk hari-hari belakangan dimana hujan hampir selalu menemani kita.

Dan volume ketiga ini yang paling the best buat saya. Meski Ilustrasinya terlihat lebih penuh dibandingkan dengan kalimat-kalimatnya sendiri. Dan nampaknya saya cinta mati :)

She couldn't lie that she was happy to finally standing on her own, making her own little family.
But deep down, she didn't want to leave what had been with her these 20 years of living.
She sat down on the desk chair and looking through the white-colored walls and some old photos.
Without she even realized, the tears coming down, her hands were trembilng.
She opened the desk and pulled out some papers and a pen.
She began to write a letter to the first love of her life, to the one she'd been in love her whole life, to one true love, Papa.
Good Job Nae.

Read this book in one sitting. The beautiful ilustrations really captured my heart but not the same for the stories.
The stories are more on people in heartbroken, and I’m a little bit confused why the author still in heartbroken after 3 books.
I’m looking forward to the healing and moving on stories and it’s not much in this book.
The stories that I loved the most are about Papa and Mama. It was such a lovely words from a daughter 💕
I hope in the next book, the stories are different and please don’t be heartbroken again. Peace ✌🏻

Again I love her illustrations for all her books. When you see her works you know it speaks Naela Ali. But for her stories not so much. I don’t know if you need to read this as a short stories, or read it like poetry or just random rants. The plot pretty messy, from being happy to being sad then sad then happy again. And her stories about meeting this person but then going through a break up. I’m just so confused.

Ternyata buku ini merupakan buku pertama yang saya tamatkan di tahun 2021. Pada bulan Mei.
Ironis, sekali, jika mengingat bertahun-tahun yang lalu saya bisa memulai Goodreads Challenge tepat pada tanggal 1 Januari.
Buku ini ringan dan merupakan salah satu wishlist saya di tahun 2020, jadi cukup puas ketika bisa memenuhi wishlist + mengikuti Goodreads Challenge.
Saya berharap bisa lebih banyak membaca buku dengan ilustrasi dan short story yang menarik seperti ini.
Ironis, sekali, jika mengingat bertahun-tahun yang lalu saya bisa memulai Goodreads Challenge tepat pada tanggal 1 Januari.

I gave this book 5 stars because I decided this was my comfort book, it was because the writer's success brought me to dive into her diaries.
The book feels like a diary, feels so warm, and the book motivates me to make the same writing.

September 4, 2024I went into this expecting a comforting collection of short stories and poetry. Instead, I was met with elementary level writing, rudimentary metaphors, and grammar mistakes consistent throughout the book. My exact thoughts while flipping through these pages were: how did this pass editing??????? i want better for Indonesian authors, trust me i do. But im sorry, i dont see the benefit of pushing out english books written by Indonesian authors when its evidently not their forte.

Ini bagus, sayangnya aku ga relate sama perasaan jatuh cinta penulis karena penulis jathcinta hanya dengan laki-laki. Aku jatuh cinta pada perempuan juga, it'll be nice if the pronoun is gender neutral.

I love this Volume the most. From the illustration to the stories. This volume speaks more than the previous volumes. Absolutely love the Papa and Mama chapter. The stories are still light and enjoyable.
