One day I was having a coffee with a good friend of mine, Dave Vaughn from the Smart Collaborative. Dave does a lot of work with young people and whenever we are together at some stage we will talk about young people and the challenges they face today.
Over coffee I was telling Dave how the pressure our young people are under today is immense and that in my opinion, the rise in mental health issues in our young people today are directly linked to that pressure. I made the point that that pressure could be managed with just a few simple life hacks and tips that I had learned in the banking world. Dave asked if I could put a presentation together that we could take in to schools and talk to students about.
So I started to write some things down, but once I started I really could not stop. Hence we have a book.
I spent 25 years in the world of finance, working for an investment bank, traveling around the world. The lessons I have learnt over those 25 years have helped my kids so I thought, why not Gen - Z.
I found this a really good read, I could relate to it completely since I had my exams cancelled due to Covid-19. I really liked the points that the author made, none of them became repetitive either. I thought the personal experiences of students that were added were a nice touch to getting people to understand how this affected younger people.
