Lost Fae #3

Rebel Queen

Rate this book
To escape a curse, I married four cocky Fae kings.

The arrogant sea king who would pursue me to the ends of the world.

The brothers of autumn, who have loved me, and hated me, and can’t quite make their minds where they fall now.

The winter king, who betrayed me to save his own court.

The five of us are bound together, even if we’re not sure now if we’re enemies or lovers or both. My father, the High King of all four kingdoms, is still alive—and he’ll stop at nothing to make sure I die instead of reclaiming my throne.

But I’m the rebel queen, and at my side are four impossible Fae knights. If I can get them all to stop trying to knock each other senseless, we can rule the four Kingdoms--and save them.

And if we can’t, we’ll die.

I swear this series just keeps getting better and better! We pick back up where book two stopped and the story never stops from there. Alisa and her guys have to deal with the fallout from the decisions that had been made while trying to stay alive as well as retrieving her lost memories. Plenty of surprise twists along the way as well. Makes for a riveting read that will suck you in until you run out of pages to read. I cannot wait for the next one! A must read! I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.

I really truly am enjoying the plot of this series so much more now that the FMC has her memories back. For a minute there I didn’t want her to get them back at all, but I’m happy I was wrong.

However…

I’m still really underwhelmed by this series. The romantic relationships are lukewarm at best. I just don’t feel the passion that should be there. With her and Raile? Totally. Her and Duncan? In an enemies to lovers way, sure. The others… ehhh not really. Her and Azrael have this instalove thing going on and I don’t really care for it. And her and Tiron just feels like besties forced to have sex because they’re now married. I don’t think I’ve actually enjoyed any of the spicy scenes at all. They feel almost clinical. Like the author is following a step by step recipe guide for how she writes them.

For the love of all things if I have to read about her “tangling her hands in her hair in the throws of passion” I’m going to throw my phone across the room. I would genuinely like to know who does this… go ahead, I’ll wait. If the FMC isn’t clinging to her partner like the world will end if she lets him go… then he’s not doing the job properly. It just dials the heat all the way down to “kissing your grandma” for me 🤷‍♀️

I love this series and with each book it just keeps getting better and better! Alisa And her Fae harem relationships keep growing and their chemistry is explosive and off the charts. The storyline continues to develop and grabs you with its action, adventure, smexy scenes and incredible world building. Tons of emotions including betrayal and angst and the twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat! Another fantastic addition to this awesome series!

So many twits and turns and questions unanswered. I loved seeing Tyson for a little while as I always enjoy when characters from other series make an appearance. There were a few things that I saw coming, but others that blew my mind. I love how the group is finally starting to put the past behind them and work together to solve the new threat that has arisen. I cannot wait to see what happens next.

Alisa still needs to recover her memories, deal with Tiron’s betrayal and figure out how to defeat Faer. Raile is definitely my favorite - his devotion to Alisa is sweet, even if he can be annoying sometimes. This book focuses a little more on the overall plot vs their relationships, but we still get to see them dealing with their past and figuring out some of their relationship. I’ve been glomming this series and can’t wait to see how it all wraps up in book 4 :)

I honestly do not know how May Dawson does it, every book I read gets better and better. I am going to go crazy between now and April waiting for book 4 of the Lost Fae now, but it is oh so worth it. Alisa and her men are superb characters. Oh and the supporting characters are really great too! I really liked Raura back in Their Shifter Academy, and I love that she is taking a role in the Lost Fae books, too. May did a great job capturing what Alisa and her men are going through without too much angst. Definitely recommend!

I'm glad Alisa finally has her memories! It's been nice to get greater insight into her as a character and the events prior to the books.

I am still struggling to feel some of the romance between Alisa and her men. But I'm still hanging on.

interesting plot

Alissa collects all these men. Tiron betrays Alissa. He doesn’t really mend his betrayal but “duty” calls so they ignore the elephant in the room. Az also has been betrayed by Tiron and Az acts like it was no big deal. Duncan is written as a perpetual angry man. He hates Alissa so that’s why their love works. No it doesn’t work but their lust does. Az seems highly perplexing. His love for Alissa is confusing. Not sure who does or does not deserve the other. Raile. We thought we were suppose to dislike him but it turns out she is his true mate. He loves her, is patient with her, thoughtful of her and exceptionally kind to her. She is cruel to him. She doesn’t deserve him. The love aspect isn’t sold on me. The deeply layered plot though, is very intriguing.

Book 3 continues on fast from the last book and grips you from the beginning to end. Theres so many facets to this book that its hard to keep up with it. Add to that the complications and dynamics Alisa (FMC) has with her four husbands (Duncan, Azrael, Tiron and Raille). As well as learning to rely and trust all of them and them her. More secrets are uncovered as Alisa slowly starts to get her lost memories back. Which in itself brings its own problems. Its a cracking series and that cliffhanger ending was just knockout! Bring on the last book now please

If you haven't read the first two books in this series STOP! Go back and read them, this book starts where 'Fallen Queen' ended.

In the prologue of this book, we learn about Tiron and who he really is. Who his parents are and where they are as well. We also see as Perin and Dala take Azrael as insurance that Tiron will do what they want him to do.

We join the wedding where Alisa has just taken Raile, Duncan, Azrael and Tiron as her husbands. Although Raile was in the process of changing the vows so Alisa would belong to herself that was overridden by Tiron's beginning his own version of the vows. Alisa however includes them all, assuring her the throne.

Now they have to fight their way out of the palace, Raile helps Alisa by gifting her his powers, that weakens him but gives her the strength to help get them out. It didn't hurt that some of the guards quickly changed sides to fight with them. Once at sea on Raile's ship, Duncan wants to know where Azrael is, he was last seen with Tiron. His brother is also not answering Duncan as he calls to him on the wind. We see Tiron's conversation with Perin as he arranges for Azrael to be brought to him.

The enchantment Herrick has placed on Alisa prevents her from speaking of the issues before them, it's also forcing her to kill herself. When the guys realize this, they keep her unarmed and away from all pointy things.

Of course, the rendezvous is a trap and Torin heads to the Winter Court to get Azrael. Raile, Duncan and Alisa return to the ship to go to the Sea Court to meet with the council of war. They need plans to stop not only the Black Fae but Herrick as well. On the way Alisa has to break the enchantment as Herrick tries to get her to scuttle the ship and kill herself. Now she can talk about what he's done to Faer and her.

When a dying mermaid from the Northern watch is brought to them with the new of eighty Black Fae Ships heading toward the Winter Court, the decision is made for Raile to do what he can to stop them. Under protest, Alisa agrees that she should return to the Cursed caves to get her memories back. Calista and the rest of the fae knights would accompany Duncan and Alisa.

Now we have this story on two fronts, well three really. We have Raile on the Sea, Torin and Azrael in the Winter Court and Duncan and Alisa traveling through the Summer Court to get to the caves in the Spring Court.

A lot happens in this book, the Black fae aren't pleased with Dara's sacrifice and Raile does lots of damage before ending up safe with Azrael. Then Torin shows up. Duncan and Alisa run into more friends and monsters before she gets her memories back.

I'm not saying anymore, what I've said is just the tip of the iceberg in this page turning read. So much action, suspense, intrigue, revelations, sizzle and one heck of an ending!

OMG! And it keeps getting better!
So, we pick up right where book 2 ended. And if you thought that now that they are officially bound you would have a second to breath, well think again.
As they get separated, by will of by force, you find yourself reading the story through a multitude of points of view, all converging to Alisa finally getting her memories back, and being able to fight Fear
As you have all the points of view of all characters not being together the plots and twists never stop. And when you think that you have read enough about that character and that specific plot, May Dawson cleverly takes you to someplace else, where the angst is again super high. You kept holding your breath wondering if they will make it, and how could 5 people be so unlucky :D
Characters are well written, I never found myself thinking that one of the characters is acting out of logic or pissing me off because they do something stupid that no one would. Well, except Raile, but it is so cute when he does it :D
Alisa is getting wittier and so funny, Raile as well… I often find myself with a smile while reading their banters

If I had one downside it would be
However, I love how now we have these new bad guys in the mix and the story can start off somewhere fresh. It would have been annoying to still have to fight the same antagonist for an additional book.

The smut is still 1/1, with sometimes references to RH, but I really thought that by the end of book 3 in an RH book it would have been further.

As you guessed it, I’m starting book 4 right away ;)

What a book! The third book on this series picks up exactly where book two ends and it is non-stop action from the get-go.

Alisa finds herself married to her four fae royals and running for her life all in the same breath. She escapes to the sea with her men when the implications of her actions start to set in. It comes to her attention that she has been enchanted, which she is magicked into silence and can't hint at anything going on, by Faer into killing herself, plus a few new key points that only she knows. Also, her list of things to do has grown; she now needs to find Azrael, get her memories back, defeat Faer and take over the throne, and also avoid going mad by not consummating her marriage. Sounds easy enough right?!

I love May Dawson's writing style. She always paints a clear picture with enough detail to see the world unfold around you, without being too much. The characters are superb as well, classic Dawson style. I certainly will say that Duncan and Raile are by far my two favorites of the men. Though, each character has their own personality and quirk that makes them all easy to love and root for. Alisa is a very strong, stubborn, but altogether good person as well. She has a fantastically feisty streak in her that makes her an excellent, independent female character.

I can not wait to see how the next book unfolds. I know it will be a wild ride as all of May Dawson's books are. This never slowed for one moment. There were enough unpredictable events that kept you on your toes, the steam factor was excellent and well done, and there were answers to be had in this book. I highly recommend this series to all fans of RH and Fae- a very exciting and gripping book that will leave you wanting more!

This book focuses on coming up with a game plan to take the crown from her brother/father. Alisa continues to struggle with the fact that she may need to kill both to get rid of the rule that everyone has been forced under. This book is major for her since she eventually finds a way to get her memories back, it helps her understand where three of her men were coming from and why it was so hard from them to trust her (in the case of two of them). It also illuminated why it was so easy for one of her other men to trust her the way that he did without question. Regaining her memories has been something that she’s needed since the very beginning of the very first book. She didn’t consider how difficult it would make having to take the ruler out of the equation, the memories made it exceedingly difficult to kill her brother without knowing if he was still holding on inside. Betrayal is a major factor in this book since one of the men finally reveal secrets, he has been keeping for years way beyond when he first met Alisa. Alisa must work her way through her emotions at the same time one of her men has to work through that same betrayal but for many other reasons.

the drama

3.5 for me.

There were some tiny errors.

I love this. Love the tone set, love the people, love the complications. Alisa gets her memories back but has to deal with whether or not she’s the same person she’s always felt she’s been. That question is pretty much the theme and I liked the drama it caused.

The guys are cool. It’s near random to make the sea dude one of her RH dudes considering he was “bad” in book one but I like the spin. I think it was a little awkward if we compare it to how straight forward she was with everyone else’s initial attractions, but I otherwise enjoyed the twist.

Again, this was about Alisa and the rest of the rulers in the other four kingdoms. Alisa wasn’t the only one in the spotlight (which made my mind wander). But I liked the people she met on the way and from the previous books.

Adventurous. Exciting. Crass sex scenes BUT I need to say that after three books, this is definitely the case: the sex is run on and the climaxes are hidden in transitions. I just think it’s weird to name every word from an erotica book but cheese out on the big Os and groans. But that’s just me.

If I had to pick a theme for The Rebel Queen, it would be a 'betrayal'. From emerging secrets to regained memories, past mistakes to future schemes.... the world of the Fae is a deadly, and bloody place, and a large part of my heart is breaking for Alisa.

The guys, all so very different from each other, come into focus a little clearer here with motivations revealed (mostly) and the history expanded upon. My favorite has to be Raile, though Azrael may be a close second. Alright, I love them all.... they have just the right amount of alphaness and fractures in the heart that make compelling reading and make me cheer for the love you can feel growing, even when bracketed by deception.

Oh, and her memories! That's been vital, but ugh, it is also incredibly hard. I can't wait to see what happens in Book 4.

Almost done!

Yes! Lots of action in this book! Here’s a quick recap and my two cents.

Quick recap:

Raile takes Alisa to the undersea to save her after the wedding. While down there, Alisa learns about her secret journal, the undersea kingdom, and Raile.

Alisa sets out on a mission to restore her memories and defeat Herrick without killing Faer.

My two cents:

Another solid book in the series. Lots of action and adventure. I love the interactions with Alisa and her pets.

I like reverse harem, but this one feels like it’s missing something. Maybe because all the sex scenes have been one on one? I’m not sure what it is, but it feels like something is missing in this book.

Im excited to read the next book and see how this all comes together. I hope there’s a happily ever after! Happy reading y’all!

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "REBEL QUEEN". WOW!!!! What a rollercoaster ride this story takes you on full of intrigue, suspense, action, betrayal, secrets, lies, humor, headache, lost memories, a page turner for sure.
Alisa, Azrael, Duncan, Raile & Tiron have a bumpy relationship with lack of trust, miscommunication, her brother puts there love & devotion to one another to the test can they survive and get back into their rightful place in their kingdom her father would rather kill her than out her back on the throne.
I definitely recommend to get this amazing book to follow Alyisa & her four amazing Fae Knight's fight to get what truly belongs to them a few hurtles to cross to make that happen so well worth the read I can't wait for the next book to see how it all turns out.

she may not have her memories anymore, but together maybe they can save everyone.

Combining four fae kingdoms together may not be enough, but it’s the only way to save herself and the men she loves. Alisa may not have everything together, but if she can strengthen herself enough, maybe she can survivor the combination of herself and her men to save their kingdoms. This part of the adventure not only has the reverse harem fun, but the combining of everyone’s strengths and weaknesses, while hoping not to blow up all 4 kingdoms is Alisa at her best. The only question is, as they save one another can all of her men, including Raile rise to their best? The tale is set perfectly, the characters full of all the crazy quirks that I’ve come to love, and the adventure runs on.

Had me twisted in knots

Alisa, the unrecognized Summer Court Queen, and her harem of fae royals from various courts, Azrael, Duncan, Raile, and Tiron, have much to overcome as the ramifications of the spell cast during the forced wedding. As the story progresses a separation is necessary, danger comes calling in all situations, and finding the solution is more difficult when innocent parties are imprisoned. May Dawson had me twisted in knots throughout Rebel Queen. I almost shudder at what could be planned for the next book.

I read this book with my Kindle Unlimited subscription and I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.

Love, love, love this book! This is my favourite May Dawson series to date!

It gives you everything you can ask for; delicious broken alphaholes, a strong female lead, and an action-packed storyline.

We also get to piece together the backgrounds of the five main characters as the books progress, which adds an element of mystery and depth to the whole thing.

I was especially in love with this book because the men are finally showing who they are, and we get closer to Raile and his love for his queen. Such a great cast of characters and so much plotline packed into this book.

Hop on and enjoy the ride!

Book 3 picks up immediately after the cliffhanger in Book 2. Alisa, Duncan, Tiron, and Raile escape to Raile's ship as they go to find Azrael. The guys still don't trust each other. The quest to kill Herrick and nullify Herrick's control over Alisa and Faer is fast-paced, tense, violent, and urgent. Innocents are being sacrificed by Herrick. One adventure leads immediately to another as the team presses forward to their goal, though there is often a break for hot, vigorous sex as the wedding vows must be consummated. The book ends with a cliffhanger as the Blood Fae surround the Summer Palace.

We are back with Alisa, the rebel queen and her guys for another adventure. She suffers a lot of betrayal in this book which is continued from the previous one. That and her dad is still trying to control her and leaving small suggestions in her mind. But her guys won’t let her stop fighting and will do anything to protect her.

There are so many twists and turns in this story and I was excited to see some characters appear from the author, May Dawson’s other series. It’s action packed and the build up never ends with each page you turn. I was pulled back into this world from page one and I loved it!

Oh man I am enjoying where this is going. The third book in the Lose Fae series has just been upped a notch. I am not going to lie I love how the team is coming together finally. I feel like everyone is on the same page and working better.

Alisha is a strong lead even with not having memories. It was nice to just see things click into place. I do not want to give away any spoilers but just to say we can start to see the group as it should be. We are seeing that it is starting to maybe wind down fro the finale. But of course we have a new evil to face, and I cannot wait to see how they deal with him.

I adore this series and their author! May Dawson has some of the best Reverse Harem books I've ever read. You don't wanna miss this book. Alisa and her men from the Fae world come have so many ups and downs throughout their lives and their love. The High Ruler which happens to be Alisa's brother puts Alisa and her mens love and devotion to the test! Will they survive the fight against the high ruler and will their love survive the trials and tribulations they will face and those of their past. Read more about Alisa, Azreal, Duncan, Raile, and Tiron in this book. You won't be disappointed 😌 😏

This is the 3rd book in May Dawson’s Lost Fae series and it’s so good. Each book keeps getting better and better. These books hook you in and you just want more...

I love Aliza and her men. We see their characters develop more and the chemistry between them all is so hot! We learn more about Duncan and Aliza’s complicated relationship. And we get to see them grow and come together as a family, in order to defeat the enemy. Now that one enemy is down will they still be able to come together in order to defeat a second foe?

This series!

I love it! The action is the kind where you hold your breath and realize you haven’t been breathing for a few minutes and maybe you should do that. Once I opened the book it was nonstop until chapter 5! Chapter 5 people! can you imagine how much action there has to be to hold your breath for five straight chapters? A lot. And the steam is amazing, the characters are so perfect-you really get lost in the world. The author brings everything you need into a tidy package ready for the finale. I can’t wait!
