Once, they were enemies. Maybe they still are. But now that they’re lovers, the stakes are life and death.

For Kemp Lansey, his one-time stepbrother, Charles Durant, should be off limits.

He walked out of Charles’ life eight years ago. Kemp had secrets to keep—terrible secrets that weren't his own to spill—secrets that made Charles dangerous to be around.

But Charles has pushed back into Kemp’s life, into his bed. This time Kemp can’t fight their red-hot chemistry.

Kemp tells himself it’s just convenience. Kemp’s the high-profile lead singer in a band, but Charles isn’t interested in Kemp’s reflected fame and glory. And Charles, heir to a massive fortune, knows that Kemp isn’t in it for his millions. What binds them together are the dark, unbreakable bonds formed years back, when they were living in the luxurious Durant beachfront compound. The place where it all began. The place where it should have ended.

Keeping it just physical should be simple. Easy. But what happens when the ghosts of the past start crowding in? What happens when a series of bloody, violent break-ins makes it clear Charles has deadly secrets of his own?

Secrets that will either drive Kemp away, or bind them together, forever. Because, maybe, it’s more than just sex.

Can either of them risk it all to find out?

Loverman is an all-the-feels, steamy, fast-paced, emotional rollercoaster of a book featuring two guys crazy for each other even if they can’t say it, sexy banter, found family, a huge HEA, a hot hot hot private photoshoot, a vineyard, dark family secrets, billions, trust funds, bad guys, #RockstarsWhoCook and an epilogue with diamonds. Pretty, pretty diamonds.

BD Roca grew up in Brisbane, Australia and still misses the scent of frangipani and living in funky old Queensland houses. When not writing, she enjoys yoga, and the occasional glass of pinot, although not in combination. She finds writing about herself in third person kind of strange & is thinking about switching to first ;)

*** I received an eArc from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.****

This was a highly addicting read that had me quickly reading throughout to find out the ending. I cared deeply about the well-being and status of the relationship between the two main characters, who had instant chemistry with each other.

Another amazing highlight of this book was the tremendous character growth the two main characters endure on their journey to ending up together. At times you are not sure they will make it, but through many trials and tribulations, they eventually find a way to make it work.

Both characters are fully formed with strengths and weaknesses that complement one another. This was an amazing read and I look forward to more from this author.

What an extraordinary story, a powerful drama with a lot of tension, emotionally and sexually.

Eight years ago Kemp and Vivian’s mother Maxime was married to Charles’s father, Richard Durant, the mining magnate, billionaire. Let’s be clear here, Maxime is a calculating cold bitch and Richard is already dead.

Now Charles is back in Kemp’s life, it seems like they live together, but only physically, there are a lot of feelings, mostly cold, sometimes it looks like hate. There is definitely a mountain of lust which they express in a hot steamy way. They are under each other’s skin.
Charles is a successful photographer and Kemp a musician, ex- stepbrothers, it seems they are lovers without love. Let’s just follow them to understand what those feelings really are about.

Viva despises Charles, even more now because he’s her brother’s lover. Something happened all those years ago and bit by bit we get to understand the horror of it.
How their past influences the present and future. How reality is different from what it looks.

Both men are guarded, definitely protecting their hearts, they are misunderstood, especially Charles. Sometimes gentle sides are exposed, little cracks in their shields, just a second, and then the walls go up again.

Charles has secrets, and not all are locked in his safe, some are in his head, secrets to protect the ones he deeply cares for and loves.
Behind the closed off attitudes, there are glimpses of vulnerability and raw emotions. Those moments were precious and full of possibilities.
Subtle, very subtle their dynamic changes in something that has always been there, latent.
In this journey there are dark secrets unfold, they are ugly, fasten your seatbelts!

A stunningly written narrative, intriguing, full of heartache, with well-defined personalities. There was sometimes a what heavy blanket lying above this narrative, with raw hurt. So many emotions here to find, despair, hope so much hope, misunderstanding, forgiveness, a lot of steam, and love. The whole story was well developed and fast-paced.
The very end was quite emotional, finally a deserved happiness, it was extremely enjoyable.
For me, this story was a mind-blowing 5-star winner!

3.5*s rounded up for the drama!

This is the first in a new series, and I am very curious as to whether the next book will be linked closely to this one. I would certainly like to meet up with these people again.

A salutary reminder that horrible things happen behind the house of the wealthy even if outwardly all looks wonderful. Certainly the events of a time when Kemp and his sister's mother was married Charles's billionaire father, have blighted their lives ever since. As we get to learn about that time, about how Kemp and Charles have recently connected, and how it should mean nothing, but clearly means a lot ... there is no doubt a complicated situation about to unravel.

I enjoyed the mixture of media between music and art - and the linking of roles from photography, videography and rock music. The rarefied world of people living in that environment makes it easy to believe that such craziness could exist. One rule for us, none at all for the rich!

I have to admit that I did not find the smoothest of reads, but I was very curious of how it was going to play out, and definitely the blurb about secrets had me very intrigued!

Universal Link

Kemp, his sister, and Charles have history, especially Kemp and Charles. They were once stepbrothers. But something tore them apart. Kemp is now a rockstar, Charles is a billionaire and a photographer, and there's tension, lots of tension among the fierce chemistry that is always present among them.

I don't know how to do a review about this book without giving spoilers, so I'll just say it's very erotic, it's gritty, and nothing is pretty about this story. It's not romantic, it's not particularly loving, but it is very intense and intriguing and beyond steamy. I was immensely entertained by Charles and Kemp and I loved their journey.

4.5 stars - I was given a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

Unconventionally, this book starts as dark erotica, but slowly evolves into a story with as much heart as it has heat. It’s the story of a rockstar and a billionaire who are both deeply scarred by events in their shared history.

This is about as dark and gritty as erotica or romance gets. And I’m still not sure if the book can actually be considered a romance. The book opens with a naked Kemp posed over rotting meat, covered in maggots while Charles photographs him. And honestly? The story only gets more twisted and graphic from there.

I have to admit that I almost didn’t make it past the first fifty pages. Thankfully, the writing is excellent and I was quickly hooked on the complicated characters, the dark family secrets and the impossibly messy and insanely kinky relationship between Charles and Kemp. Without spoilers, it is difficult to explore the actual plot. I can say that the storyline has been carefully crafted and the book almost pushes into psychological thriller territory at times. This is a sexy, disturbing read and it’s not quite like anything I’ve read before.

This story left me hooked in the best way possible. The love-hate-lust - love relationship between Kemp and Charles is so intense you can actually feel it. The beginning of the book things feel like they are all over the place: a lot of information, a few pieces here and there. But as the story unfolds, things start to make sense, and from there you just want to know what happened and how everything is going to work itself. The author’s writing style is quite different as well - but once you get used to it, it keeps getting better and better. Both characters are very well written and have a LOT of issues and baggage, and as they try to solve it, flashes from the past helps to explain why things are so messy and complicated for them. The side characters play important roles as well, and I had the same love and hate feelings for them. And the sex chemestry between the once stepbrothers is so powerful that once they acknowledge it, it gets even better.
BD Roca made quite a good impression on me, and I’ll definitely read more from them in the future.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author thanks to getting it free from Gay Romance Review. Wow what can I say for this book. I love it. I don’t know if you are like me but I highlight things in a book I want to remember and I found I could have almost highlighted most of this story. Two guys with such major issues and yet so attracted to each other. Together they burn up the pages yet can’t seem to get it together to have a relationship both really want. The emotion runs high all through the story. The secondary characters play such a big part of this story that I found myself shaking my head and glad I didn’t have such parents. Now that I found this author I’ll be checking out more. She really knows how to hold my attention

2.5 stars generously rounded up to 3 stars.

I really wanted to like this story. The writing was fine it was just that the story didn't quite make sense to me and seemed to be lacking some details that were needed to clarify things. Lots of steamy M/M sex scenes, so that was nice.

A rockstar. A photographer who is also heir to a massive fortune. A shared past of trauma and violence. There’s so much steam and angst in this novel (in a good way) that it can be easy to miss the core of sweetness at the heart of Charles’ and Kemp’s relationship-- their past is tortured, but their bonds are stronger, and it’s a joy to watch them realize this as the story unfolds. Kemp is a knight in shining armor trying desperately to hide his noble side, and Charles is much much more complicated, and heroic, than he initially appears. I loved them both, and I loved who they were together. I was also impressed with the other characters in the novel-- Viva, Kemp’s sister, is a complete and total bad*** and my new favorite person. Maxine is a level of chaotic evil that should feel over-the-top but somehow doesn’t. The enigma that is head of security Williams is just begging for a book of his own. It’s also worth mentioning that the writing is really good-- the plot is tightly conceived and well paced, and the beginning, which drops readers into the middle of the whirlwind that is Charles and Kemp and then whisks them along for the ride, perfectly suits the kind of story this is. Highly recommended.

I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Intense, raw, steamy. The book drew me in from the first chapter and hold my interest till the end. The story starts with MCs being in relationships already, the sex is explosive and both pretend that's all they have but there is so much more between Kemp and Charles. There are feelings and secrets both MCs guard fiercely not knowing they actually share those. Normally, lack of communication annoys me but in this book it felt justified considering the stakes. Dual POV worked great to flesh out both MCs and their feelings.
I loved Viva, Kemp's sister - such a formidable female character.
The author has a very unique style. Some scenes end when something (meeting, conversation, sex) just starts and then we get to know what happened when one of the MCs reflects on it later. It was unexpected and kept me engaged, it felt like additional layers to the story and the characters were constantly uncovered.
I was especially impressed by Charles - he was through so much and all by himself, there were depths to him I didn't expect. I wish there was more about his life before he got back to Kemp and I wish we could witness their first reunion after 8 years.
Loved that there was an epilogue.

Emotional, gritty, and smoking hot.
Charles and Kemp have a shared dark past that tore them apart as teenagers. After eight years of separation, Charles forces his way back into Kemp’s chaotic, rock star, life. Kemp has always been drawn to Charles and leaving him tore a part of his soul away. But he had a good reason for leaving Charles behind and that reason still exists—he must protect his sister Viva’s explosive secret no matter what—even if it means leaving the man he loves.
I really liked this book. It was intense and at times heartbreaking. The relationship between Charles and Kemp is complex but continues to move in the direction that brings them together. They both have to overcome some pretty horrible childhood abuse (all off-page) and learn to trust each other. Their HEA is a wonderful win for their hard-fought battle. I highly recommend this beautifully written story.

I have no idea how I managed to miss this author so far, but I'm glad I found this gem. The writing is a far cry from usual "run of the mill' stories. The complexity of the characters will gripp you from the first pages and just won't let go. Right from the page one we run into a somewhat established and conflicted relationships between different people. The reasons are revealed trough memories and flashbacks as the story develops and so are the relationships - they are changing, strengthening (especially between the two men) as they are trying to define the nature of their tumultuous and steamy relationship that stemmed years before, and build something more, different. All of the characters are very well defined, complex and memorable. This maybe sounds too complicated but it's really not due to the brilliant writing - it takes you through this, angsty, emotional, steamy and complex story seamlessly. I'm really looking forward to read more from this author.

This book is pretty intense, in the best possibly way. Kemp and Charles have a very strained history as does Viva, Kemp’s sister. Maxine, well she’s despicable. The love/hate relationship between the heroes is nearly palpable. Though, truthfully as you read on it isn’t as much hate as it is love. The storyline is amazing. The drama, as it unfolds, is surprising. The past sets the stage for the present animosities and until the facts are laid out you find yourself questioning the emotions. When the truth comes to light you find you’re so invested and you want justice. This book is gripping, truly intensely so. It is well written, well thought out and very well delivered. The characters are strong as is every moment spent reading. Five stars and more! I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.

If you've overdosed on the sweet, fluffy holiday romances lately, this will be a definite palate cleanser. The characters here have a dark past, their current relationship is full of secrets, angst and darkness initially. The author does a superb job of drawing you in, keeping the characters true natures ambiguous for a while and then slowly revealing the pieces necessary to lead to the HEA. Loved the characters here, but just as much I enjoyed the construction of the novel. I look forward to rereading it now that I know what happens just to look in more detail at how the puzzle pieces are fitted together.

Kemp is so sweet and caring when it comes to sister there is nothing he wouldn't do. The book is so intense, fill with some much pain and angst, secrets, lies and its' well -written. The two are hot together and tearing up the pages. I didn't want it to come to and end and I'm looking forward to the next book in this series. A dark and edgy MM romance. One that left me in a position of do I continue or not because the blasphemy in the first to three-quarters of the book was hectic and not really necessary. However a promise to review kept me going. The plot of the story was very good and the secrets once exposed, pulled everything together.
Kemp and Viva's mother married Charles' father. Nothing in that relationship was good and spilled out onto the children until the father died.

Loverman by BD Roca is is a contemporary mm story of enemies turning to lovers, ex stepbrothers connecting on intense and heated levels, and cspticating drama.  I really appreciated how well we got to know the characters through the dual point of view of the storytelling.  With  emotions, miscommunication and lack of communication,  explosive heat, engaging story and intriguing characters.... this book gripped me and held me throughout.

This was a powerful, gripping read with angst, drama and romance!

Kemp and Charles shouldn't be together, in fact any relationship between them is off limits but they can't help but want the Forbidden fruit and be drawn together in ways which cannot be denied.

This book had a lot of drama and good character development.
The writing style was engaging and I enjoyed reading this overall.

It was so good. The dynamic between Charles and Kemp just about bursts off the page. Their chemistry is smoking hot. Add in the shared past and their own secrets regarding that past and you have one hell of a story.
