A deadly sniper is killing people in groups of three. Miami Detective Al Warner hates senseless murder, but the second set of targets provides several possible motives. One victim is alive but on life support, brain dead. The FBI IDs the shooter as the Shadow, an elusive contract killer they’ve hunted for two decades. Charles Seagrave and his lover, Kim, are on a desperate search for a rare blood type liver donor for his nephew, Hunter. The Shadow’s brain-dead victim is a possible candidate, but his mother won’t accept her son will never recover. The Shadow drops more victims, another coincidentally a donor match for Hunter. Warner doesn’t trust happenstance and a secondary investigation opens a door into a deadly black market organ ring. As the detective races to uncover the illegal labs and stem those patient deaths, he learns Seagrave is dogging the Shadow’s victims’ families in hopes of a private donation. A chance connection finally leads Warner to the assassin. In a shocking twist of exposed identities and astounding revelations, the Shadow escapes. Has Warner finally met his match? The fight to save Hunter and the mission to apprehend the Shadow turn into a battle that may prove deadly for all.
It comes in waves of three. They call him the Shadow. The contract killer has been the focus of the FBI for years.
Miami Detective Al Warner is stymied. The killer leaves no evidence, no motive, nothing. Who wants these people dead? Why?
Meanwhile, a couple are desperately searching for a rare blood type liver donor for a young relative. Is it just a coincidence that one of the Shadow's victims is a possible match for this child?
Warner doesn't believe in coincidence and his investigation leads to places he's never been before. Trying to apprehend the Shadow before there are any more victims may prove deadly ... but for whom?
Suspenseful from the get-go, it's chock full of action, a real page turner. Twists and turns that rival a carnival ride lead to a shocking conclusion. The characters are deftly drawn .. intense and intriguing.
Many thanks to the author / Gnd Publishing / BookBuzz / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction thriller. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
What a story. The action starts right at the beginning and does not let up. The story is about the search for a liver for a dying boy who needs a transplant. The main activities involved the sniper killing individuals and trying to hide exactly what the purpose of the killings was. Al Warber has the job of trying to discover the purpose behind the killings. At the same time he also has a case where individuals are giving transplants where because of the transplant items have not been stored properly are winding up dying. He ultimately discovers and is able to shut down the bad transplants working with the FBI.
Killings by the sniper are still continuing and Al is no closer to discovering a motive. Through hard work Al gets a break and confronts the killer where a gun battle ensues. The sniper eventually is able to evade the police. Al is faced with trying to discover how this person got away.
Al along with the FBI determine that the sniper is on a ship sailing and he and the FBI make plans to intercept it.
To discover the identity of the sniper and why getting a transplant for the boy is so impotant in addition to seeing whether Al and the FBI were successful with intercepting the ship, you need to read the book. You won't be disappointed.
Sniper by George A. Berstein is a fascinating thriller that grabs you from the minute you begin reading this book. You are immediately put into the place of the killer himself as he takes one life after another. There is no true purpose right now of what he is doing except to insight panic while he sets the stage for his true goals...but what are they exactly? It'll be up to Dect. Warner to figure that out and bring this person's reign of terror to an end. Sniper by George A. Berstein is the first book that I have read by this author, but I was shocked at quickly I was hooked by this book. I was expecting to be introduced to the Dect. first and then for the killings to start, but the author takes a totally different approach and I have to say...it pays off. I was hooked. I was immediately eager to read more and learn more about these various characters and this mysterious individual's motivations as to why they are doing what they are doing. The thriller aspect of this book is pulse pounding. You're waiting for the next strike, you're hoping for the detective to be able to piece together this puzzle and save lives. It's really intense and had me on the edge of my seat eager to learn what was going to happen next. I devoured this book. If you are like me and you enjoy a thrilling novel then this book is a good choice to check out. I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. I can't wait to read more by this author in the future.
Sniper is a suspenseful mystery that keeps you guessing how the mystery of the murders will be solved. It has twists that are evident from the beginning, and you have to wonder how anyone will resolve this case. It is a mystery with a conundrum on top of a conundrum. The story is a mystery but has action, drama, thrills, twists, and more. I did not expect it to be so intriguing, but it is. I read this rather quickly and look forward to more from the protagonist.
Sniper is an awesome intro to the world of Detective Al Warner. I like this detective and will read other stories featuring this particular detective. He has a way of showing compassion for the victims while aggressively pursuing justice on their behalf. He shows respect to the victim while almost living in a world of the perpetrator. In this book, this case's resolve was not something that you could see coming, but you knew it would happen.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Miami Detective Al Warner has a bad feeling about the first three people shot by a sniper. He has a feeling there will be more killings and he is right. The sniper strikes again, but one victim is left barely alive. Then it happens again. The sniper leaves no clues, no evidence and the motive is unknown. At the same time, readers learn that Charles Seagrave and his girlfriend are on a mission to find a liver for his dying nephew. They are racing against time.
The author brings to readers an exciting and fast moving thriller. The narrative is brought to life by the vivid details of the investigation and the pursuit of the sniper. There is tension, violence and action packed scenes. Shocking secrets are revealed as the story races to a conclusion. Perfectly paced and well plotted, Sniper is a real page turner. Highly recommended.
Great action thriller with enough twists to keep you guessing. Empathetic characters, including Detective Al Warner who is back again trying to figure the who and why of a series of seemingly random murders carried out in sets of three by an expert sniper. Meanwhile Charlie and his girlfriend are desperately searching for a donor liver fo his dying nephew.. The search ,the reveal, and the chase are all expertly handled in an excellent story. I received an advanced digital copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
