Thrivation is the BIG-idea philosophy of an Everyman whose wisdom may help us transcend the circle of life and death carousel and help ensure that we leave an everlasting imprint on this planet and humanity. In a word, THRIVE! Thrivation is the mission, if not an empirical mandate, to grow, inspire, and manifest more of what we value from our species and more of what we want to ensure that our future generations enjoy. Thrivation shows us the conversations and actions of thrive and digs deep into what it means to thrive. Each page is spiritually uplifting and philosophically soulful. It will supplant old ideas and old understandings of thrive, abundance and mindfulness, and plant new, more empowering seeds to grow our eternal enlightenment. While thrive is something of common vernacular in the philosophical, spiritual, and self-discovery universe-it has never been so adequately defined or deconstructed or described with such thought-provoking prose that enables us to access its essence. Until now. Welcome to Thrivation! Philip Gabbard is a philosophical creative writer and thinker, creative director and ad-man entrepreneur. He is the author of two published books, THISday, and THRIVATION. He is a influencer of influencers in the world of Hispanic corporate advertising, a media sales trainer, podcaster and advertising agency owner. Philip earned his degree in Journalism while playing offensive guard at the University of Texas-El Paso before launching into the fast-paced media world in the 1990’s. He was named Hispanic Sales Manager of the Year by Radio Ink magazine in 2007 before opening his L.A.-based national media agency serving some of America’s best-known brands. Philip is credited and lauded for writing and producing thousands of national Radio and TV commercials in the last 30 years. He now resides in El Paso.
You may recall that my favourite non-fiction read from 2019 was THISday by first-time author Philip Gabbard. THISday is not your usual non-fiction, self-help kind of book. It is so different and so refreshing. Many non-fiction influencers like bookthinkers, bookmattic, unleashtheknowledge would agree with me.
Every review made by these amazing book influencers was a little different than a regular book review. This is because Philip has a way of writing that is so deep and thoughtful that his book touches you in ways that are, well, hard to describe. It is so different than what we are used to seeing in the Self Development space.
After I read and reviewed THISday, Philip and I developed a relationship, and because of that friendship, he asked me to join his editing team and early manuscript review for his new book, THRIVATION and I was thrilled to be part of it all. Thrivation is now available for all of us to devour. It is beautiful. And it is a game-changer.
So what is Thrivation? Thrivation is really about what it means to thrive. So many books mention “thrive”, and people talk about thriving, but I haven’t found a book that ever tackled thrive as a subject matter. Until now.
Thrivation is like a manifesto of manifestation and Philip is deeply heart-warming, inspirational and philosophical about it, so much so, that it had me constantly thinking about what I can do to ensure that I am thriving every day, how I can spread my voice, plant my seeds, and help manifest in others what I have learnt in life.
Thrivation is full of parables, stories and confronting realities of the life we are experiencing now, today, which was only made possible by untold millions of people who have lived and thrived before us, who lived and died for us, which has us now faced with a deep, and profound question: What are we going to leave behind for our future generations?
Thrivation makes you think. That’s exactly what I love about it.
Just like THISday, Philip continues to use his creative writing and story-telling to make us see what he sees and feels. Reading his books, you will find that the story, the message, lasts. Again, this isn’t like any old how-to book, or something you read once and put it back on the shelf. His words sink in, and they stick with you. It will make you ruminate and eventually take some action.
Philip delivered THISday to the world to change our days. And now he has delivered Thrivation to the world to change our future. Together, they are a brilliant NOW and FOREVER book pairing of a lifetime.
If you have not read THISday, you should right away. Don’t put it at the end of your TBR. And you should also read Thrivation. It is out now on Amazon as ebook, paperback and soon will be out as an audiobook. Thrivation is a must read and a must have for your collection. I have read hundreds of books, and I can say from experience that, just as THISday changed the present of its readers, Thrivation will change your future, and therefore your life.
Alright, so I'm a big fan of Philip's first book THISday and just like his first book Thrivation has a lot to say. It's not the typical type of self-help non-fiction book you would pick up off the shelves at your local bookstore. It has a special quality you will not find any any other book. Here's what I discovered about Thrivation.
'Thrivation is life's most selfless, self-serving, and coveted prize, of course. It is the enigmatic ideal nestled between the opportunity of living and the reality of dying. It is a part of every circle of light, and while it may be true that to every season there is Turn! Turn! Turn!-it is equally true that we may miss our turn to thrive.'
You will not find the typical advice in this book. Albeit you can find books about thriving you will not quite find a Thrive like Phillip's. And his Thrive is contagious!
If you haven't figured it out yet, this book is all about thrive, it has many great suggestions about how you can plant your own seed of Thrive, water it, and let it grow. It's about accepting the fact that your time on this planet is finite yet not wallowing in it but thriving in it!
Thrivation is about finding your way to give back what you can to the universe, to help Humanity of the future grow because of your actions. Our time on Earth may be a blip in the whole time of history yet it is a very important blip. Why? Because each person alive now has the ability to affect the future. It is our responsibility to do what we can in the humblest and most generous way possible.
Thrivation is what keeps humanity thriving both on the massive scale and the individual scale.
So what is your thrive? What are you going to do today, and tomorrow, and the next week and next year to contribute to humanity's thrive?
Buy Philip's book to cultivate and inspire yourself to thrive even more.
Thrivation: The Power of Thrive. This book breaks down what it means to thrive. From powerful quotes to powerful insights this book is packed with elements to help you thrive. An easy and impactful read with on-point parables, confronting life examples and a new philosophy for humankind to seriously consider. An inspirational book that tackles what it means to thrive and how to change your world for the better.
Gabbard talks about Thrive as a duty. We live in a era of abundance— at least most of us do! Yet, we often neglect life and thrive. Most of us know what we need to do, we know how we can help to push the world forward, and what improvements needs to be made. Yet, instead we pick up the remote or launch an app: yielding to distraction and comfort.
Or maybe we don’t know what we are supposed to do in life? Then the least we can do is to get out there and have a look, experiment a bit, and see what comes up? And get back to that childlike curiosity that so often get punched out us of by modern life, so that only subtle traces are left of it on our 30th birthday.
“Leave the campsite better than you found it.” This is my takeaway from this book. That’s what all thriving people who went before us have done. In a world of abundance there is no excuse not to thrive, and not to bring as many people as possible up with you.
Of course this is easier said than done—a lot of forces are working again us—but try to find YOUR version of planting a seed and tending to it with loving care. Beautiful things might come of it.
Leave the world a little better than you found it. —————— I read this books as a ‘one-chapter-a-day’ book, and getting a daily dose of musings about what it means to thrive in life was just kind of mindset boost that I needed to push through tough times—which this 1st quarter of 2021 was for me.
This book gave me very little, and the writing was very bad and messy. It is a mess of messages here, trying to say something profound but saying very little constructive that builds a whole. No real thread, as "Thrivation" contains "anything" that is in the direction of you thriving. When you call your book "The Everlasting Philosophy of Providence + Privilege" I assume something more ordered, systematical, profound, and well thought - rather than random ideas that all shifts what the author means by the fuzzy word "Thrivation"(a word I liked the sound of, why I wanted to read the book). He does not manage to define it, and the rest of the book muddies the waters.
Now, I will not say the book here tells us a lot of bad things - on the contrary - it tries to do a lot of good and spread good ideas, but because the ideas are not rooted in a framework of sort - they are contradictory and not very well defended as a "philosophy".
The first sign that a book is bad is when the author have to self reflect about himself writin the book you are holding more than one time - and here it is done so many that I lost count.
