It’s bad enough that bastard child Gabriel “Beau” Harjo has brown eyes instead of blue, and dark hair instead of light. He just has to have epilepsy too, doesn’t he? His girlfriend breaks up with him, and an unexpected seizure ruins his military future. When he’s sent back to his family’s ranch, the last thing he wants to deal with is the new ranch hand—a flirtatious, charming, frustrating horse trainer from Texas.

Sage Peyton never intended to leave home, but when his homophobic grandparents leave him no choice, he finds himself begging for a job in Colorado. He’s willing to do anything, even out himself to the gorgeous, hot-blooded, youngest son who would be his boss. Beau, whose ex-girlfriend is Sage’s only friend. Beau, who has a broken arm and bad attitude. Beau, with whom Sage is completely and entirely enthralled.

Is it possible to love two people at the same time? What happens when you’re so wrapped up in someone, the risk and the turmoil to be with them doesn’t matter?

With nothing else to lose, they might as well try and find out.

I really like the way this author tells stories; I'm drawn in by well crafted characters with decent backstories and significant issues/health conditions to deal with. Reminds me of the wonderful tales of DomLuka(a past favorite author who's sadly no longer writing). The author also gives strong secondary female 'bestie' characters. There was a great drama build-up towards a somewhat truncated end (IMO) but still gets 4 stars overall.

This is a wonderful story with incredible and complex characters, and it explores such complicated and difficult questions and insecurities with such nuance...I can't hype it enough tbh. I found the author via the webcomic The Leg Less Traveled on Webtoon and have been head over heels for her storytelling ever since. 🥺❤️ Let the boys be sexy and imperfect but also vulnerable and find the love they deserve so much. 💖

Absolutely amazing character development

Honestly, the headline says it all. I absolutely love the character development of Beau throughout this book. It takes a lot for people to grow and learn from mistakes or admit their wrongs so to see it written out so bare and raw is truly amazing. Sage is a great character, full of mischief and confidence (and you just gotta love a confident cowboy- I'm telling you). His development is so great as he learns to love. Don't even get me started on the sexual tension. I always highly recommend all of Maddie's books and webcomics, and this one is just another winner. She writes is such a raw, mature, and captivating way. I promise you, she's gonna make you crack a smile, blush, giggle or cry.

I stumbled upon Cull on Webtoons with The Leg Less Traveled and the rest is history. I have now bought up I think every book she has available and I will continue to watch her store like a hawk.

My GODS do I adore her writing. MY GODS is she going to bankrupt me.

5 stars isn’t enough Goodreads. Give me a platinum star!
