Holy SEXY Ex-Navy Seal, boy these two amazing characters Jesse Fallon & Olivia Lynn swept me off my feet. I can't wait to snuggle up and read more of the Dawn Endeavor series by Author Marie Harte, I'm definitely giving this a 5 STAR. Definitely coming back for more.
I just found this series and cannot wait to start the next book! Somehow I’m already invested in all the characters, not just Jesse and Olivia. Its got just the right amount of suspense and excitement , and more steam than you could possibly think to ask for!
What I have found is that anything goes in her world. There is MM MFM and anything in between. It is original, it is fun, it is sexy, it is sizzling, it is strangely erotic in this paranormal world, and you will need more than a long drink to cool down. There is plenty of action and sexfests and you want to do away with the evil who place horrors against the characters. You want to be there to do harm when they infiltrate the enemy. If you like something oh so sexy, spicy and erotic, steaming and exciting with multiple partners then this is a book you should grab and dive right in.
Jesse Fallon is a member of the Dawn Endeavor team, a group of four genetically enhanced super soldiers. Unlike Circe's recruits who were Marines, the Dawn Endeavor team were Navy SEALs prior to undergoing genetic manipulation. Jesse is also able to hear thoughts and to project his own thoughts to his teammates.
Olivia Lynn, the team's new interpreter, is going with them on their mission but the team soon discovers that Olivia has more than just linguistic skills to help them out. She has some unique psychic abilities of her own that will complement the team's abilities.
This was a good first book in the series. I like the way we met the Dawn Endeavor team at the end of the last series, Circe's Recruits. Jesse was an interesting character and his love interest Olivia was a good, strong female protagonist without too much pushiness and bossiness that we found in some of the female MCs of the first series.
I read the first series years ago and loved it. I dont know if its cos my taste has changed so much but this time around I was a bit bored tbh.
The whole circ issue I get from the previous series. It should have given us more on why or how Olivia is the way she is. You can give too little away which is just annoying.
Add in the pointless trip to Brazil other than to justify the sex and it just becomes a sex fest but not a good one. I was bored frankly.
This story hits all my favorite hot buttons: menage-group, former military, paranormal, shifters, suspense. It's delicious and I can't wait to read the rest of the series, it's addicting. If you're familiar with Harte's Circes world, this is part of it. They've evolved to encompass psychic abilities and now they're hunting bad guys who want to control things with powerful psychic soldiers they can control and gain state secrets through those abilities and designer drugs. Harte has so many questions to explore in this series and I'm a curious reader who wants them all answered. On top of that these Circes are insatiable and can only be satisfied by another Circ. This and the pack dynamics lead to delicious times in the story.
Jesse Fallon is part of the Dawn Endeavor group of four Circs that are now headed by Mrs. Alicia Sharpe. They guys are uncertain as to whether they can trust this new leader. She seems to have psychic abilities but she's not telling and pushing the guys to expand their own. She brings in Olivia Lynn as a translator for an upcoming op. Olivia has her own psychic ability although she's kept it hidden from her work in the military in teaching. She's restless and takes the position as translator for the group because she speaks Portuguese like a native. The guys are going to close down a lab in the jungles of Brazil and they need her to get the information from the native contact. Things get messy real fast as Olivia is Fallon's mate. The group discovers all sorts of stuff in Brazil that sends us on the adventure that will track through the series. We do get a happy for now in the story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
If you get nothing else from this review, it's that if you want to read this series, you really should read the Circe's Recruit's series first. Had I not already read Circe's Recruits, I'd have given this book 2 stars, because I would have been 1. confused; and 2. royally peeved about the whole uncontrollable lust and misogyny present. The author really should have done a better job of spending time spelling out the whole "Circ" thing, which she does in the original series ("Circe's Recruits".)
I'll be honest here in that I probably still would have given this book fewer stars if I hadn't gone ahead and read the rest of the Dawn Endeavor series. I really like all of Marie Harte's stuff, including both Circe's Recruits and the PowerUP! series, so I decided to not judge this series based on the first book. I'm glad I didn't, because the series got better after this one. This first book seemed really rushed, and there wasn't enough character development, in my opinion. While all of these books have tons of sex (m/f, m/m, mmf, mmm, mmmm...seriously lots of sex in lots of ways) Fallon's Flame goes over the top with it, while not giving us a lot in the way of emotional involvement with the main characters. It's fairly disappointing because Fallon seems like a neat character.
If you read Circe's Recruit's and liked that series, I still recommend going ahead and reading this, because while the first book isn't great, the rest of the series gets better.
**Note that I received a free copy of this book in return for my honest review
Fallon's Flame is the first in Marie Harte's Dawn Endeavor series, a spinoff from her Circe's Recruits, both focused on small groups of super soldiers, created by genetic manipulation, gifted with incredible strength and often extrasensory talents, and determined to serve and protect. The changes to their bodies and minds make them formidable warriors but also require them to find frequent release for their almost violent passions. As they sate the demands of their inner beasts, those encounters strengthen the emotional and psychic bonds between them.
The hero, Jesse Fallon, is a telepath. He finds the new interpreter, Olivia Lynn, impenetrable to his abilities and also irresistibly appealing. But she doesn't seem to be Circ, and humans can't withstand the powerful needs of Circs.
Fallon's Flame is an exciting introduction to this series, with a lot of steamy encounters within the core team, interspersed with the adventure of their dangerous mission to Brazil. Marie Harte does a good job keeping the pages turning, with the heat and action of all kinds. Definitely looking forward to more in this series!
Jesse Fallon and his genetically enhanced team of SEALs are known as Circs, they are not happy when their commander is replaced by a woman who seems to know more than she should. When she brings in Olivia, a civilian translator, to accompany them on their next mission, they suspect something is not right and when Jesse sees Olivia’s eyes change, he thinks she may be a Circ but she smells human. This was a very sexy, hot action-packed story, you get introduced to Fallon’s fellow Circs who will probably be featured in future books in this series. Olivia doesn’t trust easily, and Fallon thinks she is going to bolt for the door and so tries very hard to change her mind using advise by his team-mates some of which he should have ignored! I voluntarily received and reviewed an ARC copy of the book.
Fallon's Flame kicks off a series about a group of genetically enhanced soldiers. Jesse, in addition to having shifter abilities, also has the ability to read thoughts. Olivia is brought onto the team to assist with a special mission, and she and Jesse find immediate chemistry, despite the Circs' usual inability to find sexual satisfaction with humans. The main characters of the team are a moody lot, but they share an easy camaraderie that shows they have each other's backs. I enjoyed this book, but I think it would be great to go back and find the Circe's Recruits series and read it to get more background on the Circe effects.
This book by Marie Harte is is is - can I say it, probably my all-time favorite read EVER! Yes, it is that good. I’d only read a few chapters and I saw this book for what it is, a well-written winner. There is a richness of storyline and background characters along with intrigue, and spellbinding twist and turns that will keep you on the edge of the seat. I consumed this book and yet I was so sorry that I did because I didn’t want this book to end. I guarantee this book won’t disappoint if you read it! It won’t be my last read from this series! Happy reading everyone!!
Jesse, a former SEAL, was experimented on and is now a shapeshifter, a Circ, with abilities to hear peoples thoughts and speak to them in their mind. Only another Circ can tame the sexual craving that hits them. Until Olivia comes along. Olivia is hired as a linguist specialist and is an empath and can tell when someone is lying. They are sent on a mission that goes sideways and Olivia learns things about her self she never knew. This was a hard review to write without any spoilers. M/M, M/F, M/F/M sexual situations. Shifters. Cliffhanger.
Jesse and Olivia's story is a good way to be introduced to the second group of Circe warriors. Fallon's Flame (book 1 of Dawn Endeavor) is action packed, especially with the sexiness, full of intrigue for the other member's of the group. Jesse is a strong and vibrant character with the ability to read minds. Olivia's ability to translate is what originally has her joining the team, but it's her inner secrets that cement her into the heart of the bond.
Enhanced super soldiers with heightened abilities, action, copious amounts of steamy interactions and more make this story an overall good read. I unfortunately did not realise that elements in this book are firmly rooted in other series. Even though this is the beginning of a new series, I would have enjoyed it more if I had read Roane first (I ended up reading that after this). Fallon and Olivia work through drama, angst and intrigue.
Where can I find me a group of super soldiers. While Olivia may not have understood why she was identified for this new top secret linguistics position, her pull towards Jesse when she arrives is animalistic. The ensuing encounters between Jesse, Olivia and the rest of the team are steamy as they try to quench their insatiable needs. The mission to Brazil is dangerous and adds new layers of information that definitely left me looking for the next book in the series.
Fallon’s Flame, book 1 of the Dawn Endeavors series, by Marie Harte @authormarieharte. This is a re-read of the series for me. I had been thinking about this series for months & finally decided no time like the present! 🤩
I thoroughly enjoyed Jesse & Olivia’s book! The dynamics of the two of them while dealing with Olivia’s secrets were fantastic! Since this was a Circ book, there were some MM & group sex scenes. 🥵
Man made paranormals form a tight knit team. The overarching storyline adds action and intrigue while the mating of Fallon and Olivia is an angsty romantic sort of claiming. This easy to read sexy tale will keep you riveted, will make you hot, and will make you smile.
Absolutely loved the first series. This is an offshoot from it and takes a bit of time to remember the circe background. New characters but still elements of previous storyline. Good paranormal read.
You're really going to need a fan to read this book...This book took me to new reading heights...I couldn't read fast enough....I'm dying to read the next book
This is typically not my kind of book, but I did enjoy it. Parts could have been a little less "dramatic" for me and focused a bit more on the story, but overall it was a good read. Very interesting. Got my brain thinking in lots of directions.
I thought the original Circe series was pretty hot. This one is even better. I believe Ms. Harte is getting better and better with her paranormal romance stories. In this one, instead of marines, it's navy who's been experimented on. I figured it would just be another replay of the first series. Still, I couldn't resist and decided I wanted to read it. I'm glad I did. Fallon's situation is similar to the Circe's group, but it was still fresh. The way he interacted with Olivia was fun. It was different enough that I didn't feel like it was a recycled book.
The sex. OH MY LORD the sex was hot. I keep thinking, how many ways can an orgy be described? Apparently, it's fresh each time for me with Ms. Harte. The first time with Olivia and the "guys", I wanted to quickly find a toy to help me. It was hot for me. I didn't think I liked the m/m stuff, but wow, the way Ms. Harte incorporates m/m, it's pretty damn hot. I was going to save the remaining 3 books for my m/m challenge, but it's difficult. I want to read them so badly. I have to force myself to read other books instead. I can't wait for July 2011 to roll around so I can read the remaining three.
I recommend this book to those who like paranormal romance with menage. The menage is truly a menage with relationships between the men. This is something I find I like more and more. It makes it feel more balanced. This book also leaves us with open questions which I hope will be answered in the rest of the series. I know there is a HEA for each one of these, but I really want to take the journey with Ms. Harte. Another winner for me!
This was a good story but I think I’m Circed out. I read the Circe’s Recruits series back to back. I wanted to read the first one in this new series to see if they went somewhere different alas not much difference.
The new Circ’s have physic powers to add to the super strength and beast changes. They are all still very hot and sexy guys with their own issues etc. The sex is still hot and abundant in various couplings.
My issues… A couple of the lines from the first series kept replaying in this one…Women are trouble etc.
Too short...the books are still not full length, average 10 to 16 chapters usually on the lower side and for the money….sigh. This story was 12 Chapters!
Ms Harte writes well and the story was fun to read so I will continue to look at her works.
Enjoyable and likeable re-read for me. Though this interconnects with other books by this author you can read this as a standalone but be aware, you will want to read the others too. We are going off with the second group of Circe’s who we met in the original series. I still found this totally enjoyable reading this time around, even with vague recollections of what is to come. Not the longest of stories but has a lot going on in this short amount of time, especially as there is a back story continuing throughout the series. Read many years ago and I was very pleased to be asked to read this updated version. It’s been a while since I read the original Circe’s Recruits series and then the Dawn Endeavor ones. Cannot wait to read about the rest of this group once again. This is my honest review of this book.
