This is even more compelling than the first in the series! The story continues to follow individuals from both the US and Israel as the tribulation unfolds, with the addition of more surrounding the leaders making up the antichrist's new world order. The author doesn't shy away from the harsh reality and utter depravity of a world of hardened unbelievers. I compared the first book to the Left Behind series, but this feels more realistic, and far more unsettling. The Scripture inclusion continues faithfully, with a concluding section walking the reader through how the fictionalized events depicted line up with the prophecies of Revelation

This is VanLiere's second in a series on the Book of Revelations and end time prophecy. The books are quite different from a normal read. The first half of the book is a short novel depicting end times, and the second half is non-fiction with an in-depth discussion of where in the Bible these prophecies lie and how they pertain to the end times. VanLiere's intense research in the non-fiction part is very obvious. Looking through the reviews, this is obviously a book that some people are not going to like; but in my opinion, it is extremely well done.

The fiction book is well written, moves quickly, and gives an excellent picture of what the end times may look like for both Christians and non-Christians. The characters are very realistic and display very real reaction as life changes around them. The non-fiction section is definitely something I will find myself rereading and referring to in connection with the Book of Revelations.

Highly recommend for all Christians and especially for those who are interested in end times prophecy. I would suggest reading The Time of Jacob's Trouble previous to this book.

Those who enjoy dystopian/apocalyptic Christian literature will enjoy this one.
The story is set in the future, spans several years and follows the prophesies of the book of Revelations. We experience the story through the eyes of multiple characters - Emma narrates the story of some young people who are saving abandoned children, President Thomas Banes narrates the choices of the E10 chosen to lead the world, and Elliot and Zerah narrate the story of the 144000 chosen to spread the Word.
The decisions made by the world's leaders in the name of peace and inter-dependence struck a chord, I must admit.
However, the middle section of the story was a bit repetitive and lagged. There was no ending - the leaders were struck down and everyone fled for the hills...
The story was also interrupted by requests to find out more information at the back of the book.
All in all this read more as an educational text and an attempt to teach about the end of the world and Jesus second coming than a work of fiction.

Fascinating book that tells the Biblical story of what may happen during the time of the Tribulation before the return of Christ. It is scary in some ways, to see how much of the prophecy has already been fulfilled.

I won Donna VanLiere’s THE DAY OF EZEKIEL’S HOPE in a Goodreads Giveaway. I didn’t know what to expect. I was afraid it would get preachy and demonize everyone who dared not to align with the author’s perceptions and beliefs. I was pleasantly surprised. This is a very good story.
It starts with a bang. Here are the third, fourth and fifth sentences of Chapter 1:

“Hundreds of thousands of Turkish, Russian, Iranian, Libyan, Asian, and other troops storm toward the northern Israeli border from Syria as the fighter planes roar overhead; other planes begin their ascent from aircraft carriers at sea and head toward land. This is the time to wipe Israel off the map once and for all. The disappearance of millions of people from around the globe, combined with Iran’s attacks on Washington, D.C., and New York City, and Russia’s nuclear attacks on US ships and major cities within the United States, has emboldened this military coalition as never before, and the clock is ticking.”

What I didn’t know when I read that was “The Day of Ezekiel’s Hope” is the second book in an end-of-times trilogy based on events from the Bible. I read the first part of the book of Ezekiel from the Bible as background before reading “Ezekiel’s Hope.” The God of Ezekiel is an angry God who threatens catastrophic events if the people don’t reform. He also predicts the people will hate God’s messengers. The premise of “Ezekiel’s Hope” is all that happens in the near future, supplemented by the plagues from Revelations and excerpts from the New and Old Testament.

Fifty million people disappeared (or vanished) in the first book in the series. Those fifty million were holy Christ-following people. Who’s left? Some really rotten people of course, and some really good people who have strayed from Christ.

Within that grand panorama, the book focuses on a few people. God has selected 144,000 men to be his messengers: Zerah in Israel is one; Elliott in New York City is another. Emma in NYC and her friends dedicate themselves to rescuing children off the streets and from slave traders, and try to feed and shelter them, while staying alive. A First Witness and a Second Witness who walk Jerusalem call for people to repent. They are indestructible, and can shoot fire from their mouths to kill people (bad people and soldiers, of course). They also call down the plagues (on the good and the bad equally). Finally, there is a group called E-10, representing the leaders of the Western World. I can remember only seven members (Victor Quade, the head of the EU is the lead bad guy. Others are from the USA, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Czech Republic, and Spain (I think)). The E-10 wants to bring peace to the world and believes Christians are the cause of bigotries, hate, racism, and wars, and must be controlled or eliminated). Oh, and there’s that newly built Temple in Jerusalem.

Donna VanLiere masterfully works all that (and more) into a tightly constructed 211 pages.
And that’s not all, as they say in late night infomercials, there’s “more, more, more,” all for the one low $15.99 price. In the last 80 pages or so VanLiere explains how she used key passages of the Bible (see, e.g., Ezekiel, Chapters 37 and 38), and educated me of the long history of Jews in their quest to find their homeland (what we now called Israel). I didn’t read all of this last part but what I did read was well worth reading.

I liked this novel so much I’m tempted to get the final book in the series, which I assume is when Jesus returns.

By the way, Donna VanLiere is clear she is not predicting future events. It’s one possible version, and assuredly different from how actual events will play out.

My rating: 4 stars. I reserve five stars for books I think everyone should read or would enjoy reading. I’m assuming some people will avoid this one because of its biblical roots. For everyone else, read it. It’s a very well-written book.

I do not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing free books from publishers & authors. Therefore, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one.

Warning: This book contains descriptive accounts of extremely graphic adult content (racial hatred), violence, or expletive language &/or uncensored sexually explicit material (minor/adult verbal, psychological, emotional, physical & sexual abuse, kidnapping/prostitution trafficking (slavery) of a human for sexual exploitation) which is only suitable for mature readers. It may be offensive or have potential adverse psychological effects on the reader. If you are especially sensitive to this type of material, it is strongly advised not to read any further.

An awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very professionally written religious oriented apocalyptic book. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a huge description list of unique characters, settings, facts etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great religious oriented apocalyptic movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini-TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars.

Thank you for the free author; Goodreads; MakingConnections; Making Connections discussion group talk; Harvest House Publishers; paperback; book

The Day of Ezekiel's Hope is the continuing story introduced in The Time of Jacob's Trouble, and focuses on a Biblically based fictional account of end times. Readers who enjoy dystopian novels will probably end up enjoying this one, and I loved how accurate to scripture Donna VanLiere keeps the story.

Readers, in this one, continue to follow Emma and her group of friends who are new believers and determining to stand for God's truth despite the state of the world. And we also follow two of the 144,000 evangelists, Zerah and Elliott, as they continue to proclaim the truth of God's Word and the need for Jesus. While I did enjoy the first book a little bit more, I still enjoyed this one and thought it was a really good follow up. Attention is given to the 144,000 evangelists, the two witnesses, and the rise of the anti-christ and his agenda. This one is definitely darker than the first one way, but that pretty much goes without saying as end times are going to be the darkest time ever seen in history, and I thought that was represented accurately and authentically.

I appreciate the fact that through reading this series by one of my favorite authors, I've gained a deeper understanding of Biblical prophecy and it's sparked my desire to learn even more. I personally enjoyed the Biblical study part of this book even more than I did the fictional side of it, and I think that Donna VanLiere is truly gifted at writing Bible studies that focus on the truth and keep the reader completely engaged and entertained. I learned so much about the history of the Jews, and it's amazing to see just how many prophecies have come true within the one nation of Israel alone.

The only thing that kept this one from being five stars for me was I found the timeline was disjointed and often hard to follow. The author covers a lot of ground within these pages, and because of this the story quite often jumps ahead by weeks or even months at a time from chapter to chapter. I don't think this would end up bothering everyone; I just personally found it a little bit confusing to follow.

All in all though, I thought this was a great follow up to the first novel, and I'm already looking forward to getting to read book three!

Final Rating: 4/5.

Thanks so much to Harvest House for allowing me to advance read and review this!

I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary advance reader copy of this novel from the publisher (Harvest House) in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I have a fondness for books about the end times. I'm not sure why I enjoy reading them, but I do. Maybe it's knowing there will always be characters who face the tribulation, accept Jesus as savior, then overcome destruction in the end. Even should they die in this world, their victory is assured in the afterlife. Whatever the case, when I find a good series (like this one), I devour it quickly.

In book 2 of Donna VanLiere's three-book novelization of the last days, the stakes are higher. Emma and her group are struggling to exist in New York after it's been gutted by a nuclear attack. Food, safety, medicines---all gone. A new governing board, comprised of leaders from 10 nations (the E10), and headed by a rising new diplomat, is calling shots for the world.

In Israel, two ancient witnesses have taken center stage, calling down plagues in the name of God and prophesying doom on those who won't accept Jesus Messiah. Zerah and Elliott are still attempting to reach the lost, as are Emma and her ragtag group. While Zerah and Elliott are protected from physical harm, Emma and her band don't have the same luxury, and are in constant danger as they risk their lives to save children who have been abandoned after the rapture.

There's a lot going on in this novel, and it will have you flipping pages as the action hops to various points throughout the globe. I especially liked seeing the development of the characters of U.S. President and the Prime Minister of England.

As in the first novel, the first 200-pages or so, are devoted to the fictional account, while the back of the book features a section called “Where in the Word” that provides scriptural support (and explanations) for the events happening in the story. Every so many chapters there is a pause where the reader can flip to the back for Biblical reference supporting the events in the preceding chapters---or just continue reading the story. I found the scriptural explanations of immense teaching valuable and looked forward to studying each section as the story unfolded.

The Day of Ezekiels Hope
This book appealed to me as I like reading apocalyptic/post apocalyptic fiction. The author has presented a story of the ‘end times’ as depicted in the Bible. She has done her homework and presented it well. This is the second book in the series, I believe. I have not read the first book but plan on doing so. This book has quite a few characters and it goes back and forth between them and the different places where they are at. In the beginning I had a little trouble keeping up with everyone but that could have just been me as I stopped reading and then came back to it. The beginning of the book focuses on prophesies in the book of Ezekiel 38-39. The book is mainly about the time after the rapture and focuses keenly on a small group of survivors turned believers, the two prophets or witnesses in the end times, the 144,000 sealed servants of the Lord and the Antichrist. There are many other prophecies she introduces into the story along the way. Three quarters of the book are the story. The last quarter of the book she takes us into the Bible and goes through prophecy and where she got the plot line for the different parts of the book. She gives scripture references for all. All in all, I thought she did a remarkable job on the storyline and being able to bring the prophecies in the Bible to life. I enjoyed the book and was very interested in the last quarter where she talked about the prophecies in the Bible. If you like apocalyptic or post apocalyptic stories about the end times that were prophesied in the Bible, then I think you will enjoy this book. If not, then you might pass on this one.

I won a copy of this book from gooodreads' giveaway. This is solely my opinion and I have not been compensated for it.

I found this book to be an interesting and very different read. I would give this book 3 1/2 stars but rounded down since I'm not fond of reading books about scripture. I only read it because I won it and thought "ok, I'll give it a shot then."

The first half of the book is a fictional story based on what the Bible says about the end of the world and the coming of Jesus. The second half of the book is the scripture explaining the prophecy in the Bible. The author tells you where exactly to find it in the Bible, naming the chapter and verses if you choose to do so. You can read the book from beginning to end or the author has prompts to turn to the second half as your reading to explain Biblically about the fiction you just read. The fictional version is entertaining and a quick read but there is much repetition as there is in the second half such as "Jesus is coming", "keep your eyes up, look up" as well as some verses from the Bible. The author writes with great passion and enthusiasm as seen with her use of exclamation marks. You could read this book as a stand alone but to really understand what's happening, I would recommend reading the author's first book, The Time of Jacob's Trouble. The author does refer to the first book at times when reading the scripture found in the second half. The Day of Ezekiel's Hope is not the end of this story. One more book is expected to complete the story. The author at some points says that the next book will explain more of some of the details found in this story.

Read this book to your liking, either just the fictional first half or all of it if scripture is your liking.

Whoo boy, This is a hard one. First of all, thanks to Netgalley and Harvest House Publishers for an ecopy of the book in exchange for a fair and honest review. I grabbed this book because I saw the Sci/Fi fantasy part of it, and tend to like apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic fiction. Unfortunately, I did not pay enough attention to the "Christian' tag, which is not in my wheelhouse. Out of fairness, despite this not being my cup of tea, I will attempt to review it in a non-spoiler way. First of all, the positives-the author has clearly thoroughly researched her sources and, in doing so, was able to flesh out a compelling narrative from the skeletons of story presented in the New Testament. I think someone into reading about the end-of-days, especially someone religious, will really be into this story. I was trying to think about the story as this: if it wasn't based on the bible, would it be as compelling? And the answer is I am not sure, because then it would seem more original, but on the other hand, the context of the story in relation to the bible is kind of the point here. As such, I would not recommend it for a typical reader of sci fi, though any religious person who is into end-of-days literature 100% should check this book out. I appreciate the effort the author spent on this, and regret that it did not personally resonate more with me. I am going to give it two stars (for my main Sci/Fi Fantasy readers) though, again, for a religious Christian Lit fan, this could well be a four star.

As a lover of the Left Behind series I was instantly intrigued when I saw this book in a Giveaway. I was lucky enough to be one of the winners and I am so glad I received this book. My thoughts:
Pros: Follows current events, everything described is how I imagine the first half of the tribulation along with a few things I had not even thought of, I liked how the scripture was inserted into the story, there are notes in the back of the book that go with chapters in the book that show scripture and historical fact that go along with the story. The two Witnesses---wowza.
Cons: Maybe it's because this is the second book of the series and I did not read the first I didn't feel a connection with the characters. I knew the character's reactions but not their thoughts and I wanted to know more what they were thinking and get to know them better. Too fast paced-it seemed like everything moved very quickly jumping months at a time in the timeline. I would have preferred more character development even if that meant more books to the series. I finished the book with questions in my mind about certain characters.
Final Rating: I give this book 4 stars because it held my attention, was a good fictional account of scripture, and left me wanting to read the next book. I will be purchasing book 1 and looking forward to the last book in the series.

The Day of Ezekiel's Hope by Donna VanLiere is a Christian Science Fiction Thriller of the End Times and the second in this new series. I highly recommend this series for the Bible teaching, real scenarios, thrills and hope for believers and unbelievers. I was so excited to read this book after reading the first of this series The Time of Jacob's Trouble. I loved the characters and situations they seemed almost too real to be fiction. It isn’t hard to imagine in today’s world how these events will happen in the tribulation. Everything is there, the criminal activity, child abuse, technology, surveillance, plagues, the separation of family members under the guise of safety and more. The portrayal of how the Lord works in each person’s life is excellent. There is exceptional non fiction Biblical teaching, references, historical detail with application for the reader. This book offers an excellent opportunity for everyone to learn, refresh Biblical knowledge and reflect. Read this book with your Bible open. Even so come Lord Jesus!

I will update my review when I finish, but am in awe of how inspiring and powerful these books are! The Time of Jacob’s Trouble AND The Day of Ezekiel’s Hope are addicting must read books! I finished The Time of Jacob’s Trouble and LOVED it! I’m hooked! I am currently reading The Day or Ezekiel’s Hope and am so moved by these two books that I wanted to urgently rush other reviewers and readers to order both! I will update my review when I finish but I wanted to reach out and express my gratitude to Donna VanLiere and Harvest House Publishers! I was never aware that Donna VanLiere had written books other than Christmas books (which I love) so I couldn’t help but send you a HUGE thank you now! Again, I will update my review and include links to the sites where I share my review when I finish, but I loved The Time of Jacob’s Trouble so much that I wanted to thank you in advance. I’m told that this is the second book of Donna VanLiere’s trilogy. As I haven’t read the first book, so my comments may be somewhat skewed.

This is the first apocalyptic fiction I’ve read in years. I like it that it’s based on the books of Ezekiel and Revelation. It’s a good imagining of what’s going on in the Tribulation as seen through the eyes of the characters of the book.

I didn’t get a good sense of the characters involved, especially their background. I guess this is expected as much of the character development would have been covered in the first book.

For me, the storyline isn’t as riveting as I had expected although the actions are fast-paced. So, overall, it was so-so read for me.

I received a free eARC from the publisher through NetGalley and am leaving this short review voluntarily.

This was even better than the first book in my opinion. You now have the antichrist who is slowly rising to power. He is making decisions to persecute Christian’s and anyone who believes.

The story is told through multiple povs just like the first, but in this one you get a bit more of a point of view from the president and his life before and his decisions now. You also got to see him struggle with the faith and whether or not to believe as his wife did. I appreciated that aspect of the story.

One thing I didn’t like it how fast this book went. You start off where book one ends but then you jump 6 months then 7 months and so forth. So much happened within such short time I felt it could have had more things added and spaced out better.

Overall this is fascinating to read and has me looking up so much in my own Bible. I can not wait to see where book 3 goes.

The second in Donna VanLiere's series on the end of days. Another outstanding job on a confusing and challenging subject. Having read non-fiction books and, of course, the Bible and the Book of Revelation as well as other books of the Bible that relate to the end of the age, I can honestly say that Donna has done a remarkable job of bringing future events to life. In addition, she clarifies matters at the end of the book by giving detailed historical and Biblical references that help not only to more clearly understand the prophecies, but information for those who may not have taken the step of salvation that can protect them from the coming cataclysm. Looking forward to the third and final book in this series. It can't come soon enough. Riveting reading.

This time I liked the story better than the commentary. I would rate the story alone 3.5 or 4⭐️, the best in the series in my opinion, but the commentary brought the score down. The commentary was mostly a history of Israel, which was cool to learn about, but I was expecting more biblical explanations. There were a few biblical references, but most of it was post-biblical history. Israel does have a part in the end times, but I would’ve liked to read about other relevant topics as well. I think people who love history would like this.

HOWEVER, the story started picking up pace in this second book. With the interactions between the antichrist and the witnesses, there was more action, and I was eager to see what happened next. There was still a slight disconnect to the characters and repetitive writing, but the different characters and settings tied together more.

This genre of fiction is completely new to me. Donna VanLiere ties a fictionalized account of the end times with Biblical references and current world situations as a reference for each several chapters.

Emma Grady and Zerah Adler are two of the characters who pull you deeper into the story. I found myself concerned with them and other players in this novel as the story went along. It was gripping, emotional, tense, and realistic.

The Day of Ezekiel's Hope is an engrossing read, one which will occupy many hours of fascinating reading.

I received this book from the publisher but was under no obligation to post nor review this book.

While I enjoyed this follow up to Jacobs Trouble, I wasn’t expecting what I came up against.
This book had less plot, and more preaching. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE God’s word, and preaching, but it wasn’t really what I came to this book for. I expected a bit more plot in here than I got.
Having said that, I still liked the book. There is a bleak future in the end times written about in the Bible, and I think the author of this book did a good job at showing how it could look according to scripture.
I also very much appreciate the end section where the novel ends and the Bible back up begins.

I usually love anything Donna VanLiere writes but this one was just on okay read for me. The world is on the verge of collapse and the governments that are left are ignoring the signs that God is sending. Emma and her small band of family and outcasts are in New York City getting ready to flee the city. Zerah is in Israel watching the country descend into oblivion as the world attacks them for their beliefs. This is a follow up story to THE TIME OF JACOB'S TROUBLE. I'm assuming there will be a third book. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I am really enjoying this fictional representation of what the rapture and end times will be like based on the Bible. Similar to the Left Behind Series, this one also has a section at the end explaining things that happen based on the Bible. It can be read after the fiction section, or the reader is redirected to it after the appropriate chapters. I enjoyed this so much that I got the third book right after I finished this one because I enjoyed it so much. Much of it fits with things our present times very well.

This is part two of an End Times trilogy. The story continues to explore the chaos in a post-Rapture world. Do not expect deep character development or complex plot development. Expect a read that provides an excellent fictional view of life with evil allowed to control the world.
The author does an excellent job of supporting her storyline with Scripture in the WherevIn The Word? section.
As a believer, have you considered what will happen to your possessions if you are Raptured? Have you considered a world with destroyed power grids and communication systems?

Oh my. Loving this series. Can't wait for the final installment of this end-time trilogy to arrive!

Now 3 1/2 years into the Tribulation. The two witnesses and the 144,000 are doing their best. The AntiChrist has made himself known--but the world loves him. Jews and Christians are both on the Most Wanted lists and mass executions are occurring. Plagues of all kinds are occurring and common people (Christians) are finding it harder and harder to survive.

This was a great sequel to Jacob's Trouble. I enjoyed reading this book and tried imagining our world falling into such horrific times following the rapture. I believe it was biblically accurate. It's not all happy endings for the believers but that's what makes it so real. Definitely a must read in my opinion!

I’m willing to overlook any writing “defects” (underdeveloped characters, logistical and timing issues ? in the thin plot) for the importance of this true prophecy. Especially helpful is the large portion of explained Scriptural at the back of each of these three books. (Each is different.)
Highly recommend.
Plus, get right with the Lord Jesus *now!

The Day of Ezekiel's Hope is an dystopian novel with a Christian flavor that grabs the reader and doesn't let go until the very last pages of the novel. I enjoyed it. fans of Divergent and The Hunger Games will like this.

Book two of the ends of times series. This book is just as good as the first book. I can’t wait until book three is published. Donna VanLiere paints a very realistic picture of how people would react when Christ returns.
