Shadow Academy has many secrets… and I’m one of them. After the death of his father, Ren Worthington has fallen from grace. The only person who can help me locate her is a former enemy and the price he asks for my help might be more than I’m prepared to pay. With a new evil rising, an unwelcome admirer and threats from all directions, it’s going to take all my powers and smarts to get through this.Shadow Girl is the final book in the Shadow Academy series. Enjoy this young adult academy series with slow burn, fated couple romance.
I’m a digital nomad (well I was until 2020 happened), although I hate that term because it makes me sound like a wanky hipster. Which I’m not. Okay, I am a bit snobby about coffee and I sometimes wear twee vintage dresses but that doesn’t make me a hipster.
On my travels, I love visiting weird and macabre places. Mummified hands that remove curses, museums of infectious diseases, collections of taxidermized frogs riding Penny Farthings - hell yeah!
Oh, and that profile photo isn't me, it's my rapscallion Bishon Frise called Hamish. Both of us highly motivated by treats.
This is a fun paranormal series and Candy is an interesting MC, even if the book endings seem a bit over the top at times. As a scholarship girl at an exclusive boarding school, Candy and Rex are part of a small group who are protecting the school from vampires and demons, as well as being students.
Anyway I'm enjoying the series, she's an Aussie even, which I just learned, 3+ stars.
Cherry and Ren are back and things are still crazy in both their personal lives and what is happening at school. I laughed and groaned through most of the story but was really entertained. The characters were both great and annoying as things seem to be reversed from the beginning of the series. But secrets are being hunted down and truths revealed. A great story in the series. I love how the author writes and just draws you in.
It was mediocre at best. The ending had no real lasting impression on me and felt rushed and anticlimactic. It wasn't something that left me in awe of how intense it was, although it certainly had the opportunity to be.
I'm really enjoying this new paranormal series by Kat Cotton. For one, the heroine is funny and snarky. Unlike other series that say the protagonist is witty and snarky, this heroine really is. I also liked that younger girls could read it, as it's cleaner than most of the series out there. My one beef is with the male lead character. He wasn't as fleshed out emotionally as I would have liked. Maybe it's because he's supposed to be 16. Anyway, I definitely recommend Shadow Girl and the whole series, as there's a heroine to love, lots of snark (and eating), plenty of supernatural activity, and lots of action. Add in some twists and turns I couldn't predict, and its one of my favorite paranormal reads of the year.
The writing style just draws me in and I can't stop reading (and laughing and jitter and air fist pump) till I have reached the end.
Cherry wants to help Ren getting his money back by finding his mother but he isn't all too happy about this idea. Everyone seems to hate Cherry now except the evil pupils like Angela who want to be suddenly her friend and Cherry finds herself in the situation where she has to decide if she should change sides.
I hope there will be another book in this series because I feel there are a lot of questions unanswered at the end of this book while it doesn't necessarily lead into something new.
Okey. Better than book 2 but had a lot of misery when all failures crushes and everyone is acting as they are. While I liked the heroine a lot I found the others a bit ewwwww sometimes. Bff is still so angry?! Othet friend is turning and such. I found that part a bit overwhelming… but she came out as winner so all okey and faith restored. (Still she was too easy with them if you ask me) Anyways I still like the worldbuilding the different personalities the description of whats happening… so all good Not such a swamper as book 1 but better vives than book 2. I saw there are more in this series with same characters. And Ill definitely come back to them but this point Im filled enough…
In the final installment, Cherry is really going to have to use her powers to the fullest to help everyone come out alive~ With his father dead, now Cherry is intent on discovering where Ren’s mother is to try and help him to recover everything! They will have so many surprises in store for them from an enemy turned friend? His mother? New enemies? So, many questions that need answering and only a select few have the answers they need…so what will happen? Will they come out unscathed? Hurt? Dead? Find out in the finale that will leave you wanting more…
I really liked the first two books. But this book wasn't my type. I didn't understand the concept of demigod. Were they only meant to die? If so, what was the significance of them being a demigod? Since I've read many supernatural books, I kinda expected something big to happen.... Like something related to prophecy, them to save the world and all. The way it was portrayed in the beginning, I anticipated something massive but the ending felt kinda rushed.
The last book in the series does not disappoint. If you have been reading along then you know about Cherry and Ren with the prophecy that ruled and almost ruined their lives.
Pick up the book to find out the answers to questions and the role others played in shaping their lives.
While I want to know about the prophecy and etc, the toxicity of most of the characters is really frustrating and I’m not sure I’ll continue on with the books.
This was slightly disappointing. You waited all the way to the end of the series and there was potential for so much more plot twists and a slightly more “filling” in the plot.
