Written in first person by AVA YORK & STARR HUNTRESS, Captured by her Alien Mate is the 4th book in the WARRIORS OF THE D’TALI series, and switches perspectives between Kator and Riley.

FEMALE HEROIN: ♀️♀️/5

Riley Evans was one of twelve women abducted from Earth by the Skarg. She was a police officer with three brothers who grew up in a rough neighborhood, only able to rely on herself. She woke up in the cargo hold of a ship, surrounded by women her age. The ship was ambushed and shot down by another spaceship and they were forced to crash land on a techless planet. Riley's story started a year after that crash. She had found a natural role among the D’Tali in the security detail, helping with defensive planning and strategies. Riley's character annoyed me. As a cop, I expected her to be more of a tough cookie. Instead, we got a soft, mushy, love-sick puppy who allowed herself to be walked all over. Kator walked away from her multiple times, and she not only tolerated it, but waited patiently for him to return to her like a good little housewife. I was beyond annoyed when Riley's dumbass got her group caught because her hood slipped. And equally annoyed when Kator ditched her AGAIN in the middle of a battle. I truly loathed each of these characters equally.

MALE HEROIN: ♂️♂️/5

Kator was golden orange-skinned D’Tali, Master Assassin and the head of the Assassins Guild for King Moffat of the Royal House of Aetam. Born half D'Tali and half Aetamian, Kator was a double agent, undercover as a spy for Vokar. Along with gathering intel on the enemy, Kator had a personal reason for climbing the ranks; to gain access to their library and records. His mother Nerema was D’Tali, captured by the Aetamians, then raped by one of the bastards. She escaped and found safety for a time with a kinder Aetamian, but died giving birth to Kator, a product of said rape. Kator was determined to find the name of his father and seek vengeance for his mother. Unfortunately, Kator's character also annoyed the hell out of me. He turned his back on his mate Riley more times than I could count, walking away from her, chasing his vendetta.

ALIEN APPEARANCE: 👽👽👽👽/5

The D'Tali are amphibians (lizard-like creatures) that vary in color; different shades of the rainbow. Tall and muscular, they're built like handsome cold-blooded tanks with scales and horns. One thing I found interesting was their lack of tails. They're lizard-men... why do they have horns and not tails? Which, not gonna lie, is rather disapointing. There was nothing unique or interesting about their reproductive parts; just lizard men with human dïcks. The cover art depicted Kator perfectly.

BIOLOGICAL MATE INDICATORS: 🧬🧬🧬🧬/5

The D'Tali experience the following physical indications whenever in the presence of their one true bond mate: tight chest, tingling in the spine, warm upper body, and glowing eyes that blur the vision before covering everything in a single colored sheen. Aside from the glowing eyes, the human female appears to be affected much the same, with a strong pull to the male that's difficult to resist (deriving from a pharamone/hormone/endorphin cocktail). There are very few D’Tali women because the limited birthrates produce more male offspring than female. For a D’Tali to have a relationship, it can only happen after a mating bond has been made with their one true mate. Most D’Tali never find their mate, being destined for a lifetime of loneliness. I think the lack of experience is heavily overlooked in these books; the author(s) rarely touch on the fact that most D'Tali are most likely virgins. With the lack of available females, the males seem to have intimate knowledge regarding sex (such as the clit and g-spot) that they should know absolutely nothing about. In that regard, I feel like a ball was dropped so hard it exploded.

ROMANCE & RAUNCH: 🔥🔥🔥/5

First intimate contact took place at the 27% mark, in the form of making out (🔥). First intercourse took place at the 39% mark. As a basic reference point, I consider anything after the 50% mark as dangling the cheese for so long that it molds. I despise whenever author(s) makes us wait too long for the juicy parts (which is why Grace Goodwin is still my all-time favorite author in the alien romance category). This book didn't disappoint in timing, and gave us three separate raunch scenes (opposed to the 2 in the last book) involving intercourse. The first intercourse happened after Riley had been captured and held hostage by the Aetamians (they assumed she was Isabella, the engineer and tech guru), and involved Riley receiving oral sex until she climaxed, followed by cowgirl then missionary until they both came. Orgasm count: 2=her, 1=him. (🔥🔥🔥). Second intercourse took place at the 59% mark, after the pair escaped captivity; Quick oral for her, then Doggystyle until they both came. Orgasm count, 1:1 (🔥🔥🔥). The third and final intercourse took place at the 90% mark, after the formal coronation. A wedding never took place in this book, which was a missed opportunity. No royal wedding? C'mon. We readers love royal weddings, we eat that shït up. Anyway, I digress. She received oral and a fingering until she climaxed, then missionary until they both came. Orgasm count; her 2, him 1. (🔥🔥) While the authors definitely wrote better raunch scenes in this series, the reason for such a low fire score is because of the monotonous feel of the interactions. While the effort in these books makes the exchanges longer than 2 paragraphs while going into better visualisation, we're still left with rather boring experiences. (Missionary again?! 🙄) The real test will be in following books of this series, discovering whether they're just a copy-and-paste kind of effort.

ACTION & ADVENTURE:
🎬🎬/5

Mmmkay. So we knew that the D'Tali had been at war with the Aetamians since the first book, and this one dove further into that dispute. While retrieving equipment from the Skarg ship wreckage, the Aetamians captured Riley thinking she was Isabella, and brought her back to Aetam as a prisoner. Kator used his position and influence to buy Riley time and comfort during her "interrogation." Behind enemy lines, we got to see the inner runnings of the enemy and their tyrant King. The citizens of Aetam didn't agree with, nor like, their King or the war with the D'Tali, but they were terrified to speak out against him or the army. Kator infiltrated the enemy to learn who his father was, and in doing so, discovered that King Moffat was who raped his mother, making Kator the eldest Prince and rightful heir to the throne of Aetam. After King Moffat and his dirt-bag son Hulat decided to torture Riley for information and pleasure, Kator broke her out and returned her to the D'Tali. He returned to Aetam with the intentions of killing King Moffat and avenging his mother, except Vokar had other ideas. Vokar spread the word about Kator's bloodline to the citizens and staged an usurpation, removing King Moffat from power and giving Kator the crown. With a foreseen ending, everyone lived happily ever after in peace and prosperity. I figured out fairly early on that King Moffat raped Kator's mother and that he would take over as ruler. The plot was very transparent. There story line, action and adventure was mediocre, at best.

BOOK LENGTH:
📖📖📖📖/5

One of my main complaints with this author duo has been book length. While I doubt this book was any shorter than their other series, it didn't "feel" like the book was too long, and that's a major win. I read the book from cover to cover in just over 3 hours and didn't need to speed-read.

Editorial/Continuity Errors: ✏️/5

There were MANY repeats in this book, very much giving it the copy-and-paste feel. In fact, I noticed this pattern across all 4 books so far. For example:

Book 1, 36% pg68: “How can you be this perfect?”
Book 1, 53% pg102: “You are perfect."
Book 2, 42% pg75: “How can you be this perfect?”
Book 2, 85% pg153: “Yes,” he said. “This is…perfect.”
Book 3, 78% pg170: “She’s beautiful,” I said to Sofia. “She’s so perfect.”
Book 3, 78% pg171: “She’s perfect,” she said. “Dojak, she’s perfect. I’m so sorry for what I said—”
Book 3, 79% pf172: She was absolutely perfect.
Book 4, 40% pg64: “You’re so fucking perfect,”

Book 1, 53% pg 102: “You’re so tight,” he whispered, resting his forehead against mine.
Book 2, 85% pf153: “You’re so tight,” he breathed.
Book 3, 44% pg97: “You’re so fucking tight,” I said to her...
Book 3, 85% pg184: “You’re so fucking tight,” he said to me.

Book 1, 36% pg68: ...his fingers curling upward into a hook. They slid inside me until they were pressed hard against that hidden trigger...
Book 2, 43% pg75: Slowly, he started easing them in, curling them upward as if they were a hook. He continued until his fingers were pressed tight against that hidden trigger inside me...
Book 3, 43% pg93: He curved a finger inside, hitting my front wall.
Book 3, 84% pg183: He bent a finger and went in and out slowly, catching the spot on my front wall.
Book 4, 39% pg62: Gently, he started easing his fingers in, curling them upward as if they were a hook.
Book 4, 89% pg184: His fingers found that spot, and worked it like he’d known my body his entire life.

Book 1, 65% pg125: “I think I’m going to—” “Don’t think,” he cut me short, his voice firm and steady. “Just let it happen.”
Book 1, 91% pg175: “I’m going to—” “Don’t say it,” I cut him short, remembering what he had told me a few nights ago, “just let it happen.”
Book 4, 40% pg64: “I think I’m gonna—” “Don’t think,” he said, cutting me short. “Just let it happen.”

Anyone else see the pattern? This writing is incredibly lazy. The authors basically wrote three sex scenes in the first book (it's still not clear whether they wrote it themselves or copied from another author/book) then simply copied and pasted those same scenes throughout the remaining books, changing a few words here and there to make it "feel" like they wrote fresh material. I am appalled by the lack of creativity and imagination.

As if THAT wasn't bad enough, Sofia gave birth to her daughter in book 3, but the authors referred to her as a "son" in this book. Two authors and how many editors worked on this book? And they couldn't remember the gender of the first human/D'Tali baby hybrid?

OVERALL SUMMARY:
⭐⭐/5

As of this book, I no longer recommend this series. The disappointment outweighs anything good I have to say. Per my usual status quo, I will give the next book in this series a chance for redemption, but if it's just more of the same, I will ditch this series along with the others I've already given up on. I don't have high hopes.

Too Pat

Felt like it was run of the mill and had so much more potential.

One of the jarring problems is his search for records taking so long. Please he was one of the elite, would have access and knew info long ago. Other is there is no way the alliance would have been okay with him killing their soldiers which he would have had to gain the high rank. No way.

Lastly the going after the king? Please, not a chance, they would have changed protection because of his former position knowledge.

Wonderful and Captivating

The book was awesome and keeps you an the edge of your seat from start to finish. The main characters were made for each other with plenty of action, adventure, revenge, unting the people together, love, and steamy sexy scenes that leaves you saying ahh. Definitely a must buy and keep them coming they are awesome?

Maybe it was just my impression at the current time of reading but this felt a little sloppier than the previous works a little more rushed a little more fill in the blanks and "off screen" stuff vs detail and more character and relationship development that i feel like is more normal in this lovely series so far.

Good story

Oo I really liked the fighting. It was very well written. My only complaint is the author needs to have better continuity. Flow chart, timeline, notes, or just a fact checker. In this story Sofia had a boy but in the first it was mostly a girl and sometimes a boy. I do notice things like that. It's totally okay to change your mind but it needs to be consistent.

There’s as many emotions in this book; fear, hate, vengeance, doubt, attraction; as there are secrets...his as well as hers. There more than enough tense action to keep even the most demanding reader, eager to keep reading.

Wonderful ending! A great couple unites all

This was one of the best in the series. Riley is a heroine that's fun to root for as a former police officer and now a security team member. She is powerful. And Kator needs her help to heal. Great story!

I don't mind these books, but I feel bad for saying Camilla and Troko didn't have a lot of chemistry because Riley and Kator really have nothing going on it seems. This book was so focused on world building things and furthering the plot, that the romance felt like an afterthought.

A switch and flip

Riley put herself in harms way to save Isabella and ended in the Aetamians dungeons. Kator, a double agent, tries to help her but Riley doesn't trust him.
