In this memoir by N Ramachandran, former DGP of Assam, Meghalaya and founder of Indian Police Foundation, a think-tank specializing in police reforms, the author combines episodes from his police life, his personal life, tour abroad while also expressing his thoughts on some of the ailments in the police force and society.
This work includes, an episode about an efficient, lock-picking thief Mehmood who is also a singer, a thrilling investigation involving Dharmarajan of the Sooryanelli case who was hiding in Karnataka, Jalaja murder case where there was a pressure to jail an innocent, an investigation where the culprit was identified via a barcode in a polythene cover, encounter with Samadh khan, a Mumbai underworld Pathan, a case of child kidnapping from hospital, another kidnapping encounter that led to Marthandam, the creation of a data bank of Thiruttu Gramam , a visit to America, meet-up with Latin American people, Santa Clara and San Quentin jail visits, some further essays on drug abuse, migrant workers, serial killers and so forth.
A not so uninteresting memoir, I didn't mind it.
