Bone Frog Love

♥️The Navy SEAL and the Cupcake Girl♥️

Dear Love Vixen:

I’m flirting with this guy who is almost as old as my dad. I mean, he’s hot as hell, and he’s a real man, not like the boys I’ve been dating lately. Is this wrong? I know, I know. I need to find out if he’s married, or with someone first, but he wants to take me out on a lunch date to discuss. Should I go, or nip it in the bud? I can’t stop thinking/dreaming about him.

♥️Cupcake Girl♥️

Dear Cupcake Girl:

Nip it. Nip it. Nip it. Until you know what you’re dealing with don’t get your heart involved. Don’t listen to those naughty girly parts until you know he’s single and available. And by available, I also mean emotionally. Then decide what you want from him and what’s best for you. Which may or may not be the same thing.

Good luck, hon. XOXO

The Love Vixen ♥️

And From a Navy SEAL:

“From the first moment I saw her I envisioned slapping frosting all over that cute little cupcake at the Baby Cakes bar. When I close my eyes, I’m dribbling warm chocolate sauce, powdered sugar, silver balls and sprinkles all over her body parts and then…OMG I shouldn’t be even considering dating someone so young. But I’m newly single now and this sweet young thing seems like just the right person I could take another bite out of love with. I’ve weathered the marriage storms and served my country well for twenty years. Isn’t a former Navy SEAL allowed a little fun?”

This story was all over the map. I followed along, but was left thinking, whaaaat? and whyyyy? through much of it.
The dialogue was sooooo awkward. Between the men especially, but all of it was very cut and dry - words with little behind them.
I don’t think I actually liked a single character. Tina seemed sweet and lovely at first, but I was kinda disgusted with her by the last page and was far past ready to be done with them all.
There’s nothing I enjoyed about this book and if it’s indicative of this author’s style, I’m never reading them again.

Worst portrayal of a seal that I've "ever" read. He pussied out when he should have stood up to his friends fiance, Kimberly. Wimped out standing up to his "ex" wife and her so called boytoy. Some men just cannot stand up for themselves, but from all the Sharon Hamilton's Seals I've read, she never portrayed them in such a degrading manner.
VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS BOOK

I am not a fan of age gap books, but I tried to keep an open mind. I am also not a fan of being her "first one" types of books.

This book was a struggle for me to get through. I guess this could be considered a sweet love story. There was nothing about Bennett that had me associating him with being a SEAL. I thought he would put Kurt's fiancee and her friends in their place. I did not understand the entire culinary school situation. What was that about?

Bennett had potential as a strong male character until he hooked up with Tina. The only other time I felt like there was anything remotely alpha, or even beta about Bennett was when he was called to the hospital. He was definitely not in the same category as other SEAL'S the author has written about in previous books.

I didn't feel like there was any connection between Bennett and Tina. No chemistry whatsoever. I kept having the strong sense that Tina was manipulating Bennett. It was like he was whipped, and I am sure you understand what kind of whipped I mean. At least with Kurt and his fiancee, the state of that relationship was obvious.

Then there was the whole description about the businesses. I kept thinking I missed something. Why was that even happening or being discussed? Where did that come from?

Then we have the incident with Kurt and the completely predictable outcome. The ex and the kids situation, the BUDs training, and the "final" conversation. I honestly don't think I have ever had a reaction like this to this writer's work. I felt like I kept spiraling down into a pit of ridiculousness.

I had originally planned to give this book 3.5 or 4 stars. The more I thought about what I was going to put in my review, and I discovered there wasn't much I enjoyed about the book, the stars began to drop off. The only aspect of the book that I really enjoyed was the descriptions of the cupcakes.

I would recommend that you read this book and judge for yourself. Just because it did nothing for me doesn't mean you won't enjoy it.

I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Bone Frog Love by Sharon Hamilton is book 5 in the Love Vixen series, which each book is by a different author.

Up next is another letter sent to the Love Vixen for advice…this time it’s Cupcake Girl and the Navy Seal..May/December romance.

Bennett. Navy Seal for the past 20 years, getting divorced and looking to see what will be in his next 20 years when he ends up being asked to be his buddy’s best man and they go taste testing at the cupcake bakery. Tasting cupcakes for the wedding except sparks ignite when he meets Tina the owner and some years younger than him.

Face paced, sexy times, struggles, body guarding, quick read, second chances and hopefully we will see more of Bennett and Tina in the Bone Frog Brotherhood series by Ms. Hamilton.

Bennett and Tina are so good together... a nice sweet treat when you need a great book and an even better love story. I love Navy SEALs and Sharon Hamilton is an EXPERT at making me fall in love with her heroes. Bennett definitely falls in that category. He's a bit lost and off-kilter with the changes in his life but when he meets Tina, all bets are off. I love when a military man knows exactly what and WHO he wants! Such a great story!

This is book five in The Love Vixen series and it is Bennett and Tina's story and omg I absolutely love it as it is one hot and instant love book. Bennett was in the military for twenty years and he is now out and trying to decide what to do next after his wife wanted a divorced as she had found someone else who was younger. How Bennett is going to Baby Cakes with Kurt who is getting married to choose different cakes and that is where he meets Tina and he thought that she was so beautiful and he is instantly attracted to despite there being a age difference between them he really wants to get to know her. Tina works at Baby Cakes that her dad owns but Tina runs it and that is where she first met Bennett and she thought that he was so handsome and a silver fox who she was instantly attracted to and she would love to get to know him despite his age because that didn't bother her. As Bennett and Tina got to know each other and spend more time together there feelings just got stronger but will it all work out for them or will there be too many obstacle in there way. I absolutely loved this book and it just shows that you can still have a lasting relationship with someone older or younger than you and it can still be love at it's greatest along with sacrifices and still get your happy ending. Sharon Hamilton is an amazing author and writer and I definitely recommend you read this book and others by her and you will definitely not be disappointed.

I Voluntarily Reviewed an Arc Copy of this Amazing Book.

Kind of Ridiculous=DNF

A typical insta-love, age gap plot. The first half of the book is an attempted SEAL brother comedy, while strangely, also trying to have a meaningful conversation about separation from service for health and age-related issues. The Male Lead’s character is throughly developed, with only a brief encounter with Tina, the Female Lead. Admittedly, there was a spark, but there was little romance, until the middle of the book, and very little character development of Tina.

Then, it was insta-lust, and a sexual initiation for the surprisingly, virginal, Tina, before the first date even ended. The date literally ended in a “bang,” actually, 10 to be exact, and somewhere soul deep love was discovered in the sheets. Tina, also, apparently was an undercover, virgin nymphomaniac, who unleashed magical sexual rejuvenation powers in the 40 year old Bennett. This is where I gave up right before Chapter 13, as the couple planned to go out for more condoms, after using up the 10 that Bennett had packed. (Yes, I know my eyes rolled so far back, I thought I’d have to have them surgically restored back to normal position.) Thus, as I said, magical sexual rejuvenation powers had to be bestowed by someone or maybe a little blue pill. Needless to say, I chose to step away from whatever this was and look for something a tad more meaningful.

This stand alone, is the fifth book in the series titled The Love Vixen. A series about a wildly successful relationship blog that exploded into international recognition.
Tina, The Cupcake Girl, writes to The Love Vixen shortly after meeting “silver fox”, former Navy SEAL Bennett.
The love story of this quick reading story was sweet as well as hot. But the story is more than the basic plot.
It’s a story about second chances in love and life. Bennett is divorced and has recently left his SEAL team after 20 years . A team that was his family. Two major life changing incidents that can leave an individual at a loss of what the future holds. One thing he’s sure of is his love for Tina. But that alone is not always enough.
Meanwhile a former teammate is also facing life changes. How will it affect that man psychologically when he’s attempting to doing it alone?
Quoting the author, “No team of one is enough”.
A perfect book for an afternoon of leisure.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

This is book #5 of The Love Vixen series written by different authors. The premise is the same as far as complicated love and a written letter to The Love Vixen for advice. I really like the premise of these stories as they are fun and when the secret is out, it's time to get creative.

Bennett is finished with the teams and he has recently divorced and two adorable girls who live with their mom. He is at a crossroads of sorts and his friend pushes him to be his best man but Bennett isn't having it, he feels he will mess up the ceremony, after all, he is divorced, what does he know about happy ever afters.

Bennett's life is about to change directions when his buddy drags him to Babycakes cupcake bakery to try some cupcakes for his wedding. He meets Tina and the sparks fly. But it's never that simple and struggles ensue for both Bennett and his friend. This was a fast, sexy romp through the pages. I was happy to see they were no stereotypical remarks about their age difference, it was a refreshing change.

So glad there is a "non stereotype" story about an older man and a younger woman that was also a treat to read. I love to read military and especially Navy SEAL stories and no one does them better than Sharon Hamilton. Bennett is an ex SEAL that is trying to find his way in society now that he is no longer a team member. His marriage is over and he hasn't found anyone that is interesting enough to take a chance on until he meets Tina while helping out a friend, Kurt sample and decide on flavors for his upcoming wedding cake. Tina is just the sweet treat that he finds himself wanting to sample. This story seems like a love at first sight with an HEA but there are many twists, turns and obstacles that are thrown in to keep us on the edge of our seats.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest and totally voluntary review.

Bone Frog is the fifth book in Sharon Hamilton’s The Love Vixen series. In this book, Ms. Hamilton introduces readers to two dynamic lead characters—Tina Leone and Bennet Caldwell. She is 23 and runs her father’s bakery. He is 41 and a divorced retired Navy Seal. He is adjusting with career plans, dealing with being a newly divorced parent, and helping a buddy finalize wedding plans. He meets Tina when they go to taste cupcakes for the wedding. There is an instant attraction. What will happen between Tina and Bennet? Will their romantic journey be bumpy or smooth? What obstacles will Destiny throw into their path? You must read this book to discover what unfolds.

This was a quick read and a sweet romance. I appreciated Ms. Hamilton’s skill in developing her plot. I liked how she built tension into her plot using the wedding of secondary characters, Kurt and Kimberly. This was a nice touch. She ran them as to plot lines that danced and intersected but eventually morphing into just one. This was a nice touch. Way to go, Ms. Hamilton!

Age gap, retired Navy Seal, cupcake creator babe, intense chemistry, and a creativity for frosting. Bone Frog Love has so much going on in its story. Bennett has years of experience and is the advice seeker when needed but he has never wanted to be a leader. He knows what he knows because of what he has lived in his life. Tina is young but has a strong personality and knows what she wants in her life. The supporting characters surprised me in how they are introduced into the story. Ms. Hamilton has done her homework in the struggles that our military go through when they come home. From trying to find themselves to fitting in again into society. Bone Frog Love is a quick read, but it will catch you off guard with the subject matter and the way our couple tries to find happiness. Worth the tears and worth the time. Grab it now.

This is the first book I've read by Sharon Hamilton and to say I was underwhelmed would be a fair statement. I like alpha ex military types, age-gap, naive firsts and all that, I just didn't connect at all with either of these characters. Bennett is at loose ends after he retired and his marriage ended, although he really wasn't very torn up about that. For a Special Forces soldier, he was probably one of the most scattered characters ever. He doesn't know what to do, with his life and can't make up his mind about asking a girl out. Seriously?? Tina (the girl) seems to go after what she wants, but there was little chemistry between them both. The whole book was scattered, poorly paced, overall pretty blah. I'm unsure whether I would try Ms Hamilton again. but the one positive is you can read most of her books for FREE with KU, so maybe I will.

So I'm all for age gap romances but this one was unique. Bennett was a Navy Seal but didn't really act like a true Seal would. He wasn't really Alpha, even in the bedroom and that was disappointing. I mean he knew how to take care and was gentle with Tina but I just kinda wanted more. He also took charge when his buddy has issues but when it came to wedding plans and dealing with his friend's fiancee and her friends,he caved and just let them act like idiots instead of putting them in their place. I do love that it was told from Bennett's perspective but I would have loved to have Tina's at certain times. The story was good but it jumped at times..I mean sometimes the focus was on his friend and his needs and then would jump back to Bennett and Tina's relationship. I liked the book but it wasn't one of those books that make you want to jump out and buy it or reread it again.

I received this ebook ARC from the author on the condition that I write an honest review.
As a fan of Sharon Hamilton’s Seal books, this one just jumped to the top of my favorites. It was beautifully written with tons of emotions, and feels. I will always recommend her books to anyone.
Although Bennett has left the Seal team, his Seal pride shines throughout the book. Meeting Tina was an unexpected pleasure for him. There was immediate attraction between them, when the met at Tina’s cupcake bakery.
The story involves various characters with different episodes affecting their lives, and Bennett is there to help his friends. Several occurrences cause Bennett and Tina to separate, but eventually they resolve their worries, and the book ends in a beautiful, heartfelt HEA.

Bennett meets Tina the cute little cupcake baker when he helps his friend pick out flavors for his wedding. He has been divorced for about 9 months and that happened just a short time after he retired out after his 20 years. He doesn't know what it is about the young baker that has his so interested but he hopes she will give him a chance to find out.

This is just my second book by this author but I am liking her style. I love a good military hero. Love that Bennett is dedicated to being a good Dad despite a new relationship. Tina is sweet as can be and doesn't care in the least about the age difference. Bone Frog Love is sweet and steamy. Looking forward to reading more by this author.

Not my favourite book by this author, I found the characters to be unpredictable, a bit scary and just not very consistent. Kurt and Kimberly seemed doomed from the start to be honest. Tina was young, inexperienced and honestly goes from innocent to sex addict and then pulls away. Bennett as well for a 41 year old former seal, he didn't have a clue what he wanted to do for the rest of his life except be a good dad to his kids. Meeting Tina he goes all in for her. A lot of this was unrealistic and confusing, I liked the characters but didn't love them. The story was ok and I did read to the end. Maybe this could have been better with fewer side steps. There is a good steady pace and some sweet moments.

This is Bennett and Tina's story. Bennett is now out of the Navy after being a Seal for 20 years and is trying to decide what to do with his life. He's now divorced and is at a crossroads in his life. He goes with Kirk to Baby Cakes to help him pick out flavors for his wedding when he meets Tina. He's instantly attracted to her even though he's 20 years older but he later finds out she likes older men. At first I had a hard time with the age difference but Sharon has written the book in a way that after I kept reading it didn't bother me. The longer they are together the stronger their feelings for each other grow and it shows that with love you can overcome all obstacles.

Who knew cupcakes could be so dirty?

Bennett is handed a whole new start in life but it is the last thing he was expecting and it leaves him reeling, questioning his future. Until he sees Tina behind the cupcake counter, suddenly everything clicks back into place and he knows that he and his very dirty thoughts have just found his new mission in life...you can never have too much frosting and sprinkles....can you?
This is the fifth book in the Love Vixen series and it seems to have less Love Vixen in it than any of the others so far, I did enjoy it but it is not my favourite of the series.
I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

Sweet, sexy, and enjoyable read

I love Sharon Hamilton's SEAL books. Tina and Bennett were an odd couple since there was an age gap of twenty years, but they somehow fit together in a good way.

Bennett was a very decent guy dealing with retiring from the SEALS. He met Tina at a good time and brought her into his world as well as she brought him into her sticky sweet cupcake world.

Their relationship was wonderful and difficult and I loved how they resolved their issues for a HEA.

Bennet Caldwell, a Navy Seal, retired after 20 years in the Navy. Within a month his wife decided she didn’t want him around full time. While helping his friend by doing a cupcake tasting for his wedding at a Baby Cakes he encounters a beautiful woman 20 years his junior and is smitten. Tina is co owner of Baby Cakes and is attracted to silver foxes. She is definitely attracted to big handsome Bennet. These two are explosive together but can it work? Will the age difference and his 2 children be too much.

DNF- I couldn't make it past like 20% I think. When the friend, who he served with, has a diabetic reaction at the bakery and he had no idea he had diabetes but on instinct he smears frosting into his frothing mouth, I couldn't. This had been hard to read because the dialogue was so weird; people don't speak like that. Then there were continuity issues and side characters being borderline psychotic, and it was too much for me. I was excited by this, but thankfully I had gotten it while it was free, so at least I didn't waste money on it.

This is book 5 in the Love Vixen series. If I am being honest I was truly surprised how much I enjoyed this book. Age gap doesn't usually bother me but this was pretty big. Just goes to show you never know with who or where your gonna find that special connection. Through Ms. Hamilton's writing you get a real feel for there connection and she weaves a wonderful story. Fun, sassy read. I received a free copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Book the test your emotions

I have always been a fan of Sharon Hamilton’s. I enjoyed these characters and the plot of the story. I found my emotions varied from laughing, almost crying and amazed at some of the things I read. This is a funny you had a very poignant story about a retired sale and what life was like for him. It may just be a fiction story but I imagine there’s a lot of truth in twined in it.

A wonderful feel good story about a younger woman and a bit older retired Seal. Tina owns a small cupcake shop. Bennett visited the shop with his friend to pick out some cupcake flavors for the friends upcoming wedding. The two hit it off after their initial meeting and soon become a couple negotiating happenings in their lives together. I really enjoyed the back and forth of this couple and how they relate. An enjoyable summer read!

Bennett and Tina are perfect for each other. She is innocent, and he just got out of the SEALS after 20 years. She is his light and he is her anchor! Highly recommend this book! So check it out and see for yourself! You will be glad you did! Can not wait to see what she gives us next!
