I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway -- and I am so thrilled!
This book is fabulous!!! I don't know where to start - The hard cover is inviting and will be easy to wipe off - if need be (The pages feel like a quick light wipe will be easy too!)
While I knew that Betty Crocker wasn't a "real person" -- The history of Betty Crocker "The Many Faces of Betty Crocker" and the reason for her changes over 100 years is so interesting.
The recipes - simple and clear - with photos that make one want to reach out and take a sample!! Up to date recipes - some gluten free - that will allow me to make something fabulous to bring to a gathering for friends to enjoy :-)
With Thanksgiving coming up the section called "Our Best Holidays Feast ... "A Dive into Thanksgiving Sides ..." is wonderful and so timely - and the dishes so delicious sounding!!
My "older" Betty Crocker Cookbook will continue to hold a special - well used and enjoyed - place on my kitchen shelf - but this new one -- Betty Crocker Best 100 will be right there with it! I am so looking forward to spending time in the kitchen with "Betty"!!!
I borrowed this one from the library, so I won't have the time to try everything out, BUT I did copy 8-10 recipes I REALLY wanted to give a go! Ironically a lot of them are pastries, types of bread and slow cooker recipes...
Why do I like these recipes so much more than some other cookbooks I have looked over? One, I recognize all the ingredients in the majority of recipes. Two, The recipes are fairly simple. Three, the instructions are quite clear and easy to follow. And four, this cookbook has recipes that aren't so far off of what I already eat. It also has a almost a full page sized picture for every recipe, because we eat with our eyes. Just saying.
I definitely recommend this book if you're from North America and can grab it from your local library.
Y'all know I have a problem. I can't pass up a cookbook. What, am I supposed to just shelve this book and move along?! Absolutely not. I just can't do it. What's the point of working at a library if I don't read every book I lay eyes on?! Obviously you can't go wrong with a Betty Crocker cookbook, so this was a good one, no surprise there. I really feel like I need Sweet Butter Sauce (pg. 218) on *all* desserts from this point forward, and I cannot wait to be eating the Double Butterscotch Brownies on pg. 187.
You will not be disappointed with this book. There were at least 30 recipes I had to try right away. I liked that there were a few gluten free recipes mixed in like gf key lime pie and gf creamy enchiladas. But there are so many recipes my family would love such as punkin bread breakfast cookies and pan fried pork chops with cider sauce. What a winner!
This was a goodreads win. There was quite a few gluten free recipes and then how to make the recipe regularly. Wish there was a way to sample these before I’d buy all the stuff and then maybe not like it.
Very surprised at the choice of recipes for the Best 100. My Mom used her Betty Crocker cookbook daily for 60+ years and I use the same one too. Not a lot of the recipes we use are in this cookbook. Some interesting history included that makes great reading. Beautiful photos.
I won a copy of this book from Goodreads Giveaways. Enjoyed the photos. Liked the simplicity of the instructions. Love that the nutritional values are calculated for you. Eager to start baking!
I would like to thank Goodreads for this book win! I tried several of the trusted recipes and enjoyed. The book is colorful and a great addition to my recipe book collection. A must have!
This was a great cookbook featuring 100 recipes throughout the 100 years that Betty Crocker has been established. There was a lot of diversity in the recipes. I've saved plenty of recipes from the book and I look forward to trying them out in the future.
I believe I will be purchasing this one. I got it from the library. There are several really good recipes in here. Betty Crocker can run the gamut from really unhealthy, middle US (casserole) style of cooking to healthy. They have some healthier options in there. And the recipes are simple. I like some of the other more serious style of cookbooks, but the recipes are written like a doctorial thesis. No wonder a lot of younger people don't cook. You have to keep it simple!
Big fan of Betty Crocker cookbooks. I appreciate the recipes are easy, not needing special ingredients, and pretty much foolproof. Like this collection of the top recipes, many modified for specialty diets. A little heavy on the treats but not enough to discount it.
Betty Crocker's renowned recipes are all located in one place here in Betty's Best 100. I've found recipes for things my grandma made so I could recreate them myself! A must for every baking talent in your family!
