125 comfort food recipes and family favorites that are simple to prepare and will bring loved ones together, plus fun family stories and photos, from country music star, Food Network Star, and #1 best-selling author Trisha Yearwood
Trisha Yearwood’s fans know that she can cook up a comforting, delicious meal that will feed a family! Like her earlier bestsellers, Trisha’s Kitchen will include new family favorites and easy-to-make comfort foods, with stories about her family and what’s really important in life.
The 125 recipes include dishes her beloved mother used to make, plus new recipes like Pasta Pizza Snack Mix and Garth's Teriyaki Bowl. Every recipe tells a story, whether it's her grandma's Million Dollar Cupcakes, or her Camo Cake that she made for her nephew's birthday.
As Trisha says: "I love to cook now more than I ever have, because for me, cooking is about love. It's sharing a meal with family and friends and talking about our lives. It's working out thoughts in my head about what I need to conquer or accomplish while I'm working on a homemade pastry crust. Sometimes the feel of cold butter in my hands working through the flour just makes me see things more clearly."
Patricia Lynn Yearwood, professionally known as Trisha Yearwood, is an American country music artist. She is best known for her ballads about vulnerable young women[1] from a female perspective that have been described by some music critics as "strong" and "confident."
Trisha Yearwood signed with MCA Records in 1990. She came to prominence with her debut single, "She's in Love with the Boy" which became a #1 hit on the Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart in 1991. Her second album release, Hearts in Armor (1992) reflected Yearwood's own personal issues, which won her widespread critical acclaim among music critics and further success in country music. Her later album releases such as The Song Remembers When (1993), Thinkin' About You (1995) and Everybody Knows (1996) also demonstrated her creative control, featuring collaborations from Rodney Crowell, Willie Nelson and Garth Brooks.
Yearwood also found major success in country radio during much of the 1990s, including with the 1997 song "How Do I Live." Initially released on the soundtrack of the film, Con Air, the song was also issued on her "greatest hits" compilation entitled (Songbook) A Collection of Hits (1997) and would eventually win Best Female Country Vocal Performance from the Grammy Awards. In addition she would also win accolades from the Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association Awards in 1997 and 1998. Aside from her success in country music, she has also donated her time as a philanthropist, working with Habitat for Humanity and the Make a Wish Foundation. In addition she also set aside a project to release her first cookbook in April 2008 titled Georgia Cooking in an Oklahoma Kitchen, which consisted of southern cooking recipes from Yearwood, her mother and sister.
Let's be honest. One of my favorite things to do is eat...
Another thing I totally enjoy doing is watching food network and pretending to be a chef in my head.
I like Trisha Yearwood allright and you gotta support a southern girl anyways. So I was excited to see she has a new cookbook. One of her cookbooks was a turd for me but you need to just forgive and move on. Right? Peace and love and all that shit.
So see up there in the title? It says easy. I'm thinking I must be sorta stupid because a whole lot of these recipes did not sound easy. They sounded delicious but not easy. Examples: I'm lazy as heck in the morning! So these are dream eating. Photo of said recipe...
Then another yummy that I want in my mouth but totally admit to being too lazy to make.
I’m a big country music fan and I love cooking!! So, when I saw Trisha Yearwood had a cookbook coming out, I had to get my hands on it!
You can tell that Trisha has put a lot of heart and soul into this cookbook. She shares family recipes and stories throughout. Trisha has a way of making you feel like you are a guest at her dinner table. By the end, you feel like you know, not only her better, but others in her family.
The recipes did not disappoint. As always, when I do a cookbook review, I had to try some of the recipes so I could genuinely rate the cookbook. There is a little something for everyone with 125 recipes that cover everything from breakfast, snacks, pork & beef, chicken, turkey & fish, breaks, etc. I made Company Chicken and PB&J Cookie Bars. What I love about the book is that it doesn’t call of a bunch of fancy ingredients, and I had everything on hand to make these two recipes. The Company Chicken was very flavorful and something easy that I will be able to make for guests. The PB&J Cookie Bars have become a fast breakfast in my household and are also super easy to make.
Keep in mind that most of the recipes are southern-inspired comfort food so you may have to substitute some ingredients to make some of the recipes a little healthier.
This is a fabulous cookbook full of original recipes from the multi-talented Trisha Yearwood. The Foreward by her husband Garth Brooks is a treasure, and the recipes are an amazing collection that include just everything under the sun. There's even a "Veggie Night" section with an amazing recipe for homemade vegetable stock that everyone needs to try.
The desserts are amazing! Potato Chip Bacon Brownies? Hello! Hundred dollar cupcakes are accompanied by a sweet family story.. Princess Cake looks absolutely intriguing.
There is a Preserves, Pickles, Sauces, and Spreads section which includes Chocolate Gravy and Beth's Peach Preserves. The Breads section includes biscuits, crackers, and yeast bread. Every single recipe in the Chicken, Turkey, and Fish Section looks intriguing. The Beef and Pork Section includes The Party Burger.
I could go on and on. The stories behind each recipe are intriguing and the photos are absolutely gorgeous. This is a must have for anyone who wants to create amazing food served by a friendly host who gives us a glimpse into her life.
I received a free, temporary digital copy of this book from the publishers via Netgalley. However, I already ordered a hard copy for myself. This one is not to be missed. My review is voluntary and my opinions are my own.
I’m a huge fan of Trishas music, her cookbooks loaded with goodness that include stories behind her recipes, and her cooking show, Trishas Southern Cooking. There’s nothing better than a good southern recipe done right. Trisha’s Kitchen does just that. These recipes are quick ‘n easy, with most ingredients readily found in your pantry — perfect for busy mom’s like me.
I gave the Garth’s Breakfast Lasagna recipe a try for a recent Sunday brunch, and it was a big hit with everyone. All you wing eaters out there, listen up. You MUST TRY the Bread-And-Butter-Pickle-Brined Wings — these are the real deal, chefs kiss. We loved the Company Chicken (I split recipe in half) and have added it in my monthly meal rotation. All three recipes can be found inside this cookbook.
Many of Trisha’s recipes are family favorites I cook on repeat. Garth’s Taco Pizza (found in Trisha’s Table) is one recipe in particular that’s been passed through the family and friends grapevine — everyone loves it (even our picky eaters!) and that it’s super simple doesn’t hurt either. 😉
Inside Trisha’s Kitchen cookbook you’ll find mouthwatering photos of her dishes, sweet and savory breakfast recipes for any meal of the day, and even a VEGETARIAN chapter for those trying to eat healthier. There’s also Trisha’s tips, useful equipment and substitutions, and it even includes some recipes with step-by-step photo instructions. And of course “Trisha’s signature stories behind her recipes” are inside too.
Trisha’s Kitchen is all about good ‘ole southern stories, delicious down-home-cooked southern food, and her passion for family, friends and sit down dinners. I’m enjoying trying the recipes, I’m sure you will too!
Thanks so much to Mariner Books via NetGalley for kindly sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review!
Trisha Yearwood’s passion for good food, and for her family, shines through in TRISHA’S KITCHEN: COMFORT FOOD FOR FRIENDS & FAMILY. I have admired Ms. Yearwood for some time, and have really enjoyed watching her cooking show. Her recipes are just close enough to some of the great food I grew up eating, and cook myself today, yet with differences that will add tasty new changes to mine.
TRISHA’S KITCHEN starts out with a Forward by Trisha’s husband, Garth Brookes. His love for his wife, and her cooking shine through. Next is the author’s lovely introduction, which is followed by a short, but useful section on equipment, & substitutes that will make your cooking experience easier and more enjoyable.
And of course, there are the recipes. 125 of them! Here is just a sampling of what you will find . . . Pecan Sticky Buns with Bacon Caramel, Sausage Veggie Breakfast Casserole, Fork and Knife Bacon, Chipotle Chicken Taco-Stuff Potato Skins, Blue Crab & Lemon Pepper Ranch Toast, Janet’s Potato Salad, Kat’s Arancini, Cornbread-Crusted Friend Pork Chops, Chili Mac, Chicken Potpie Burgers, Butter-Basted Fillet of Fish with Salsa Verde, Garth’s Teriyaki Bowl, Grilled Yellow Gazpacho, Homemade Gnocchi with Two Sauces, The Ultimate Veggie Burger, Hot Honey Cornbread, Herbed Crackers, French Mustard Barbecue Sauce, Lemon Pecan Slab Pie, Dessert Pizza, Cream Cheese Pound Cake, and Coconut Cream Pie.
Just about every page has beautiful color photos, which is a must for me in any cookbook. But, the photos don’t just represent the food. There are also lovely images of Ms. Yearwood and her family. I could feel the love and heart that went into it all. It feels to me more like a friend’s recipe file box and photo album. What a wonderful gift for the author to share with us all.
TRISHA’S KITCHEN will be a loved and well used, go to staple in your kitchen, just as I know it will be in mine.
I am a little behind on my cookbook reviewing. What can I say...not enough hours in the day! 🤷🏻♀️ Anyway, onto the review...the gold of this cookbook is the personal stories and love of family feel that this entire book has. Does it have a plethora of yummy sounding recipes...yes. The breakfast lasagne was out of this world! They also packed it full of gorgeous and heartwarming photos. And of course there is the country music tie in, so it will appeal to music lovers as well. Definitely worth picking up for yourself or as a gift!
This cookbook is filled with delicious sounding comfort food recipes and lots of lovely color photos. Trisha is likeable and the book is filled with stories of family (often departed family members who passed down the recipes). Nutritional information is not provided. Most are definitely Standard American Diet kind of recipes and it won't be a good fit for gluten free, vegetarian, keto, paleo, low-carb or other special diets. I can't use the vast majority of the recipes because of this and I'm honestly a little glad since changing my diet has improved my health so much and these recipes would not be good for my health. For those who want to impress company, treat family members or just make some really tasty comfort food dishes, this book will likely hit the ball out of the park.
I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for review.
This is a beautiful cookbook filled with a wide range of recipes. There is something for all skill levels and quite a few were able to be adapted for those with restrictive diets. There are several I am excited to try!
This unbiased review is based on a complimentary copy provided by the publisher.
Right from the start of Trisha’s Kitchen, you can feel the passion Trisha Yearwood has for cooking and family. I had a feeling this would be my type of cookbook, and it did not disappoint!
If you are looking for some true comfort food recipes, this is the cookbook for you! It was well organized, and the instructions were very clear. I also appreciated the substitutions page at the beginning of the book. There was a nice mix of easy and more advanced recipes, so anyone can find something to make. And again, this is a comfort food cookbook so don’t expect to find many recipes supporting weight-loss and calorie counting. Overall I enjoyed this book, but I will definitely come back and update my review when I am able to make some of Trisha’s comforting creations. 4 stars.
I received a free digital ARC from NetGalley and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in exchange for an honest review.
I love Trisha Yearwood’s cooking show, so I’m really excited about reviewing her new cookbook, Trisha’s Kitchen.
The book is beautiful. There are gorgeous family and food pics. Before each recipe, Trisha explains a bit about how the recipe came about. She also includes a page of Useful Equipment & Substitutions. The cookbook is indexed into different sections:
Upon my first perusal of the book, I wanted to make every recipe immediately. I finally settled upon BBQ Burnt Ends. The brisket was very tender and the spice blend was just right. The homemade BBQ sauce was so yummy, I wanted to lick the plate. The instructions were easy to follow and understand.
Trish’s Kitchen by Trisha Yearwood is filled with decadent, home cooked delights! The recipes are easy to follow and easy to make, with ingredients you can readily find. Beautiful pictures throughout of the recipes, which is always a plus. I would say this is a great cookbook to have if you are looking for one with traditional homemade comfort foods.
Thank you to NetGalley and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for the opportunity to read this book for an honest review.
I was so excited to get this early copy from NetGalley! THANK YOU! I am a HUGE country girl at heart and to have access to a TRISHA YEARWOOD advanced copy - I am in heaven! Now I may be a bit bias, but ya'll this cookbook is AMAZING! Go check it out to fill your soul with comfort food, family stories and just heartwarming goodness .
Thank you for my advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is a fun cook book and I did try a few recipes but they didn't turn out like hers. That is says more on me then the her lol. I will be getting a physical copy of this book when it comes out.
*Disclaimer* - For full transparency, this was a free read thanks to Goodreads Giveaway program, and for that I thank them.
Im always a sucker for a good cookbook, theyre one of those things that often go unappreciated in the world of readers and their collections as they dont typically sit in their reading area bookshelf but usually kept in a kitchen setting often forgotten about until something is needed such as a dinner idea. Thats where the beauty of a cookbook is always recognized if its high in quality. Trisha's Kitchen is just that.
I admit that my wife and I are full fledged foodporn enthusiasts and often find our weekend mornings enjoyed with coffee and one of the now numerous food networks on in the background. Trishas typically one of our favorites. Neither of us are country western fans, we're truly watching for the food. Trisha has her own unique style, very Americana, often with a slight twist but not too far off the rails. The show is down to earth, like her meals, and thus like her book.
The fluf content that often detracts from a good cookbook is minimal, which is great because weve all come for the recipes and pictures. This book is loaded. Well laid out, with numerous options within each category. Some cookbooks tend not to resonate with us due to the effort to find many of the listed ingredients, looking at you Triple D guy and all those items that are strictly west coast. Anyways, Trisha starts off at the beginning with appetizers, soups, sides, entrees, veggie meals, sauces and finally the reward in desserts. I found numerous selections that we will be trying, especially the Corn Bread Fried Pork Chops and the BBQ Sauces.
Trisha also throws in some much appreciated "Tips" entries on many of the recipes. These are detailed recommendations, suggestions, or approach steps to consider outside of the core recipe. This added content is nice added benefit.
To summarize, with the holiday season closing in on us, this would be a nice gift giving option for those who struggle like we do with the ultimate daily debate, "what do you want for dinner". The book sits nicely on a shelf as it is highly visually pleasing, its not overstuffed and cramped so you dont feel pressured or overwhelmed. Family friendly, traditional cooking with just enough twists and modern approaches to suit most taste buds. Very nice addition to our collection!
Right off the bat, I knew that Trisha's Kitchen was going to be a great cookbook. The cookbook had the perfect balance between the personal information and the recipes, which allowed the reader the chance to get to know the author's life as well as great cooking. Not only are there excellent photographs of the finished dishes, there are useful tips scattered throughout.
The recipes are divided into logical sections, which I have listed below with some of my favorites.
Pork & Beef: Garth's Teriyaki Bowl; Red Chili Tamale Pie; Smoked Ham Carbonara
Chicken, Turkey & Fish: Chicken Potpie Burgers; Hot Chicken Chili; Lobster Mac & Cheese; Beth's Shrimp & Grits
Veggie Night: Sunrise Citrus Beet Salad; Grilled Romaine with Creamy Parmesan Ranch; Mushroom Poblano Tacos; Homemade Gnocchi with Two Sauces; Sheet Pan Buddha Bowl
Breads: Hot Honey Cornbread; Herbed Crackers; Skillet Cheddar Cornbread
I can see myself using this cookbook often, so I would definitely recommend Trisha's Kitchen: Easy Comfort Food for Friends and Family to other readers.
Disclaimer: I was given an Advanced Reader's Copy of Trisha's Kitchen: Easy Comfort Food for Friends and Family by NetGalley and the publisher, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. The decision to review this cookbook was entirely my own.
Trisha's Kitchen Easy Comfort Food For Friends and Family by: Trisha Yearwood Mariner Books Having experienced the pure joy of hearing Trisha Yearwood in concert in Atlanta, Georgia, I can only imagine how pleasurable it would be to gather around her dining table and taste her delicious home cooking! What I love most about her new cookbook is that each of the 125 recipes has a story, lovingly written by Trisha and connected to meaningful people and events throughout her life. She shares recipes related to her Southern roots and heritage in Georgia, and continues up to her present life in Nashville, Tennessee with her husband, Garth Brooks. Treasured moments in time with family, friends, neighbors, and music industry relationships are captured throughout the book. Anecdotes about altruistic projects, music touring on the road, restaurants, cities, and even peach orchards all relate to her appreciation for food and the dishes she gives us. Recipes include those that are her own, those of others, and her adaptions of favorite dishes she has had over the years. Cooks will appreciate the diversity of her recipe collection, covering breakfast, sweets, and everything in between! Detailed instructions are given, along with Trisha's Tips. The book is educational, with facts presented about ingredients. Lovely photos showcase both the completed dishes and the sharing of them with important people in Trisha's life. Not only is Southern cooking covered, but also other ethnicities such as Greek and Italian. I especially want to try a favorite of her husband, served in a bowl and featuring pineapple! Just like Trisha's songs, her food is meant to be savored and shared. Thank you to Net Galley and Mariner Books for the Advance Reader's Copy and opportunity to provide my unbiased review. #TrishasKitchen #NetGalley
Everyone, it seems, has a favorite celebrity; Trisha Yearwood is very popular, and fans always like learning a little about her. Trisha has released an excellent cookbook, Trisha's Kitchen: Easy Comfort Food for Friends and Family. Not only does this cookbook contain dozens of mouthwatering recipes, but it includes pictures, vignettes, and comments regarding her and her family; it gives the average person some insight as to who Trisha Yearwood really is and her lifestyle. While some celebrities are non-cooks who write cookbooks with the help of someone who really knows how to cook, it is evident in this book that Trisha really is an excellent and innovative cook on her own merits.
The recipes are written in a traditional form, and are succinct and easy to follow. Most are quite easy and can be successfully prepared by cooks from beginning to advanced. There are beautiful photographs of most of the recipes, and the recipes actually turn out picture perfect.
Most would expect basic country or southern dishes, since Yearwood is a country music star, but she has expanded her repertoire to include some trendy and new dishes. The cookbook includes traditional southern dishes as well as some new ones, and a few from her famous husband Garth Brooks (who also wrote the forward). Most readers will find that every time they look at this excellent cookbook, they will add a new recipe or two to their “must make soon” queue.
If you happen to like Trisha Yearwood, you’ll love learning about her actual personality and family. This is a fun, well-written cookbook with recipes that will appeal to almost everyone. It is a fun one to have on a cookbook shelf or to have on display in your kitchen.
Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.
If you weren't hungry already when picking up this cookbook, you will be soon! Between the pictures and the recipes themselves, this is Southern comfort food at its finest.
After recently reading/reviewing Dorie Greenspan's and Rose Levy Beranbaum's dessert cookbooks (both of which I loved), Trisha Yearwood's "Trisha's Kitchen" took me in a refreshing new direction. I absolutely loved the other two ... but also appreciated Yearwood's right now both to go in a new, not-all-desserts direction, but also one that I don't have to think too hard about (unless it's "which recipe do I make next?"). There's no metric-to-"normal person" pro-con list, or ingredients list for that matter; these are recipes that look like ones I grew up making, so reduce/downright eliminate the mental challenge. Familiar and comfortable not just in the mindset of "comfort food," but just what I'm plain used to. :) A mental break, if you will.
Plus, how can you go wrong when the cookbook literally includes "an essay on bacon"? Next-level food writing, amirite? :)
Southern (or more specifically, Georgia) staples like peaches, pecans, and sweet tea are ever present here ... and I love it. All the seasons and all the meals come to the table (see what I did there? LOL) in this fantastically-produced book that well deserves a place on the shelf (or on your counter). I especially can't wait to try the skillet cheddar cornbread, peach preserves, and BBQ burnt ends. Om nom nom!
I received an eARC of the book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
Another great simple meals cookbook. Trisha Yearwood is known for her singing career, but also for her cooking show on TV. She brings many of the recipes she has used over the years to this project. Great photos and great instructions.
Trisha Yearwood may not be making as much country music as she has in the past, but she sure has been making something else, and that is great recipes. With a series of books and programs on the Food Network, she has been blazing up the food charts with lots of appetizing recipes. With her latest, TRISHA’S KITCHEN EAST COMFORT FOOD FOR FRIENDS & FAMILY, she give us more of the same, with a varied assortment of recipes that are definitely worth making. What makes them all the more appetizing is the fact they are quite varied and truly memorable. There are 125 recipes in the book, any of which you would be remiss if you did not try and make in your own kitchen. The book has a foreword by her husband Garth Brooks, and it sets the stage for down-home goodness. Many of the recipes have a story to them, often passed down through family and friends, but certainly they are timeless. Such classics as: red chili tamale pie, double-stacked pork nachos, pizza-pasta snack mix, smoked ham carbonara, savory potato feta galette, creamy chicken noodle soup, lobster mac & cheese, and overnight cinnamon rolls, are just a few of the must-makes. With photos to accompany many of the recipes, you owe it to your love of food to cook up a storm in your own kitchens. Co-written with her sister Beth, Trisha Yearwood makes her own kind of music in the kitchen, standing in front of her stove. And you can enjoy the recipes making them, as much as she did writing about them.
A wonderful collection of recipes that I will definitely add to my collection. Great photo's and wonderful directions to make each recipe delicious. If you are looking for some true comfort food recipes, this is the cookbook for you! It was well organized, and the instructions were very clear. I also appreciated the substitutions page at the beginning of the book. There was a nice mix of easy and more advanced recipes, so anyone can find something to make. I will definitely be making the Grandma's Sky high biscuits. Since calories don't count in the South and in Southern cooking they are not part of this cookbook. This is a great cookbook for comfort foods and with the pictures and beautiful forward by Garth and the introduction by Trisha this book will feel like part of your family as well.
I requested and received a temporary digital Advance Reader Copy of this book from #NetGalley, the publisher and the author in exchange for an honest review.
If a cookbook could feel like a hug, this would be the one. From the moment you open and see the stunning food photography, and read the stories attached to each recipe, you're going to feel at home in Trisha's Kitchen.
In his introduction, Garth Brooks gives away the secret to all of the amazing food found within. That secret is love. Trisha's love for family, friends, food and traditions, they're all here for you bring into your home and enjoy.
The first thing I did was gather the ingredients to make the very first recipe in the book, Breakfast Burgers. Hand over my heart delicious. I tried the Hot Honey Cornbread next. I'm not ashamed to say I ate half of it myself. I moved onto the Potato Chip Bacon Brownies. Those are salty-sweet-smokey bites of sheer happiness.
The Yearwood Sisters like to entertain, and many of these recipes fill that need perfectly. You'll find a bit of everything here, but these recipes aren't fussy. Many of them are just as much at home on a cocktail table as the coffee table for a football gathering or girl's night in.
Trisha is generous with her hints to help you make her recipes work for you. You can easily make every recipe in this book. There aren't any strange ingredients to find or techniques to master. She also gives you tips for useful equipment and ingredients.
This cookbook is perfect for anyone who is a fan of Trisha's FoodNetwork show. It's just like her show, fun, filled with friends, family and good food that's easy to make
And that’s probably the best test of any book of recipes. Did you make the reader salivate and head straight to the kitchen? This one did… Comfort food was the theme and it showed in each recipe chosen. From gooey sticky buns to diner-inspired hash, from grandma’s cupcakes to shrimp and grits, this was food to challenge the waist-line but make your heart and stomach very happy…
All the meals were covered – and the snacks – with each recipe introduction sharing how the dish came to be, what inspired it, or the reason it was special for the author. It felt like someone speaking to me across the dining table – friendly, warm and inviting me to learn more. I was hooked and I hadn’t even tried a recipe yet.
The recipes immediately felt familiar – the ingredients (for the most part) recognizable and most of them in my own un-chef-fy kitchen. I think that’s the key to why I enjoyed this book so much. I’m not a great cook by any means – far from it – but the recipes and the cooking hacks/shortcuts made me feel like I could be. With a Southern flair the charm and love of food and sharing came shining through.
After reading Essay on Bacon (yes, that’s a thing!), first on the list to try was Pecan Sticky Buns and, oh yum, were they good. I’m eyeing the cinnamon rolls next…
*I happily reviewed this book **Thank you to NetGalley
Trisha Yearwood's newest cookbook, "Trisha's Kitchen" is a delight. Not only does it have beautiful photos, but her recipes are easy to assemble, use ingredients that most home cooks have in their own kitchens, and there is even a little personal information about her life with the fabulous Garth Brooks. Trisha writes just as you would expect her to, with the pleasant, friendly and down-home attitude we love. The book itself is conveniently divided into sections, starting with Breakfast, then Snacks and Appetizers, Soups, Meats, Breads, Veggies, Sweets, etc. At the very beginning, she even has a list of commonly needed kitchen equipment, as well as Substitutions for truly beginner cooks. Each recipe is described in easy to understand steps. Examples of her recipes, just to wet your whistle, are Garth's Breakfast Lasagna, made with bacon, sausage, and frozen chopped spinach. Country Ham Biscuits with Jalapeno Pimento cheese and Fried green tomatoes, and Bread and Butter Pickle Brined Chicken Wings. I received this ARC at no charge from NetGalley and the author, but it is so charming that I plan to purchase a hardcopy for myself once it is released for sale on September 28, 2021.. As always, all opinions are my own.
Trisha Yearwood has created a lovely cookbook, full of Southern cooking recipes. Some are the old recipes that you know and love and some are more New Age style recipes with a lot of the more modern ingredients and names. The forward is presented by her husband, fellow Country Music Superstar, Garth Brooks. All of their family members participated and contributed, along with a few special friends.
Of course, everyone knows there should be lots of Bacon! Bacon with its own recipes and recipes with bacon in them, probably every single bacon recipe is great.
I jotted down a donut recipe, called Buttermilk Yeasted Donuts. Trisha has them near her recipe for Galaxy Donuts. She mentions the fact that you can use premade donuts or use this recipe for donuts. I'm looking at donut recipes to find one that everyone in our family loves.
The cookbook is pleasing to the eye and has a full-color photograph for each recipe that is beautifully presented in a tasteful setting.
Thankfully, I received a complimentary copy of #trishaskitchen from #netgalley #marinerbooks @marinerbooks @trishayearwood #trishayearwood #garthbrooks @garthbrooks I was under no obligation to post a review.
I was so thrilled to see that Ms. Yearwood and her sister Beth had put out a new cookbook, and beyond thrilled to be able to view and review it before publication. So today I downloaded it, read through it twice and got a grocery list going for recipes I want to try, and there are a lot of them. Trisha writes cookbooks that everyday people can relate too, there is nothing stuffy or recipes a home cook would never try. These are recipes you can put on the family table and your kids will eat. I admit I am a huge fan of her music, her cooking show, her husband! and her cookbooks. I have them all and after reading (yes I read cookbooks like novels) this one I preordered 3 for myself, my sister and mom. I know they will love it too. So ok the nitty gritty, the recipes are well thought out and I think real food we can relate too. Like Hush Puppies, or Overnight cinnamon rolls. Chilli Mac and on and on. If you need a gift for someone just learning to cook or a seasoned cook you won’t go wrong with this cookbook. I appreciate NetGalley and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for the chance to take a peek and give my honest review on this book.

I'm in love with this cookbook!! I've enjoyed the author's Food Channel show, Trisha's Southern Kitchen and was happy to receive this cookbook for review.
Not only are the recipes easy to follow with enticing pictures, Trisha has included commentary about where she got the idea for certain recipes and other anecdotes about who in her family likes which dish. There was also a lovely note from her husband, Garth complimenting Trisha in many ways, but specifically pointing out how dedicated and talented she is. The entire book was entertaining, as well as being a great tool for those wanting to create a wonderful dish or meal.
I have already made Garth's Teriyaki Bowls and Hot Chicken Chili recipes. Both have been a hit with my family. There are several more on my list that I look forward to making. I'll definitely be buying a copy of this cookbook to have on hand. I highly recommend it, especially for those who are already fans of Trisha's.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. I voluntarily chose to review it and the opinions contained within are my own.
I have been a Trisha Yearwood fan for most of my 28 years on this earth. When I stumbled upon her cooking show a couple years ago, I was hooked. The family and friends aspect, the comfort foods, the easy to find ingredients. It was everything I loved in a cooking show. Which brings us to this cookbook, Trisha's Kitchen. Basically, it brought what makes the show so good into cookbook form! This comfort food book (don't be coming expecting some whole 30 weight-loss) has beautiful pictures, stories for each recipe that compliment what you are about to make/eat and a variety that can be made from the just beginning to cook home chefs to the more advanced home chef. There is something for everyone. There are also helpful "Trisha's tips" and substitutions if you are short on a certain ingredient or trying to figure out measurements. I cannot wait to get my hands on the physical copy when it's published and would highly recommend as a staple in everyone's kitchen. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.
