A biography written at the height of Cash's celebrity in the early 1970s. Some facts, lots of legends, but overall a very decently written and honest biography on Cash, especially when compared to other books written after the fact and Cash's own, fairly terrible 1975 autobiography "Man in Black." It's strength is in telling stories of Cash's early life and childhood which I found quite interesting in this volume, a subject that in other works can be lacking.
