The Grandmaster

Rate this book
The Grandmaster is one of the most sold books in Georgia(country) and it has been a constant bestseller for almost three years. The plot of the book develops on the island of Comino, where one day a person disappears without a trace and is later found dead. The investigator only has a bag full of money, a picture, and a “With lots of love from the richest person in the world with no money. Please burn up the money and bury it with the deceased.” One person’s murder is followed by a second killing, then a third… The game heats up, degrees increase, the killer however, needs only one more victim. Everything is seemingly apparent, the criminal certainly has to be a most fearsome and impartial character… This person’s heart has belonged to hell for a long time, but they still find their one and only - either they will kill their beloved or love that person to the end of their life. Irakli Matabeli is the novel’s main character - an intriguing, attractive, strange, frightening, and extremely intelligent person. To be succinct, he is a manipulator who is quite easily able to play around with people. The primary plot of the novel is constructed on studying and investigating his persona. Despite his evil aura, the reader falls in love with him, along with the other characters, because we as people are usually more drawn towards individuals with vile souls - we attempt to establish where these monsters have lost their innocence. Throughout this search process however, the other characters of the novel and the reader are thrown into such disarray that they forget the main thing - who is the killer. The latter however, was right in front of them, but due to the intricate plot and a dizzying romance, your focus is distracted and it’s difficult to catch the primary culprit. The novel’s secondary main character is the teenage girl Sopoko, whose surname is not mentioned in any part of the book. Through this it seems the author is giving us a tip off regarding Sopoko’s secretiveness, that she is a great master at concealing herself. Sopoko and Irakli are childhood friends, their relationship grows even deeper after the murder taking place on Comino. Each one of them is suspicious of the other, but despite the fear they turn out to have feelings for each other. Both of them know that they might turn out to be the next victim. Both of them know that they are scared of each other. Both of them know that their eyes are filled with mists of darkness. And both of them know that they’re falling in love with each other…at the worst time. They are quite different from each other and are only bound by one vital premise - “Find your soul without getting your hands dirty.”

საინტერესო დეტექტივია. კლასიკისგან ,,დასასვენებლად” და არდადაგებზე საკითხავად კარგია.
