So you guys remember the naked man in the alley? Now he’s my mate along with one of his friends. I might also have my eyes on the other two as well because why not? Oh yeah forgot to mention, turns out I’m a werewolf, hence the mating thing. Not only that but I’m the only Alpha Female in existence, which makes sense why that asshole of a fake fiance wanted to keep me for himself. *Girl you suck at explaining what's going on.* Shut up I’ve got this handled. Managed to do it last time without you. Anyway… Thanks to the four men who came crashing into my life, I was rescued and kept safe. Now I’m on a plane to who the hell knows where while the guys keep alluding to the fact that I have an important role to play in their world. Am I ready to step into whatever they have waiting for me? I’ve only been a werewolf for two weeks and still have so much to learn. *I keep telling her to put her big girl pants on and enjoy the ride. Live a little and enjoy life's surprises.* What if I’m not ready for more surprises? *Yeah, I don’t think you have a choice in that buttercup, so buckle up. We are about to land!* Book 2 out of 4 This is a medium burn reverse harem where the leading character will not have to choose between her men. It is an 18+ book that has strong language, sexual situations, and darker material such as torture that ends on a cliffhanger.
Pages: 300 My rating: 3.5 Read other books by this author in the future: yes MC: Vivianne, Rikkart, Koit, Darius, Tavas, Bentley, Tristan, Orion/Okami, Dr. Faulk, Vladik SC: Astrid, Juris, Sarma, Elena, Vivianne’s Dad, The collective
Vivianne already mated to Koit and Travas, travels with her two mates and two mate prospects (Rik and Darius) to the island Kursar, where an isolated wolf pack lives and keep up the old traditions. She becomes the Dama/Queen of the pack, but the Collective already knows that Viv is there and wants to meet with her. They do a video conference and the Collective wants a trade treaty and also send some alpha wolfs to become prospect mates. But the guy don’t like it and decide to screen the new guys. Turns out one is Travas brother and there is a doctor, who was turned by a werewolf.
I liked the book. We meet a lot of people and a lot of things happen. It is fast paced and even in my book slump and sleep a lot phase I read it pretty fast.
There are smexy times sometimes even too much, but it’s never artificial. I recommend this book to people who like a good pace in the book and more story than time in the bedroom. Her guys are great and take good care of her. At the end is an cliffhanger, but the book is worth it.
These characters are supposed to be smart strategic thinkers, but all I see are foolish reactionary thinkers who get lucky and manage to survive. Only got halfway through this novel before the ridiculousness got out of control. That bit with the poison- so freaking predictable, i was having a hard time not throwing the book across the room and screaming at the characters. Darius’s poor communication with the team was unbelievable. the numerous graphic sex scenes slowed the pace of the novel and were just gratuitous, unnecessary and did not advance the plot. The inner monologue with the wolf also slowed the pace of the novel. It is often like “look, we’re in this death defying moment or in the middle of deep conversation, but let me stop for 10 minutes and have a conversation with myself.” 🙄 i get the trouble it would cause to have someone talking in your head at inopportune moments, but her wolf is also illustrated as a protective entity. So she’s really not acting in character when she distracts her human from the world around her for long periods of time. I’m just over it. Couldn’t care less what happens to these characters. I liked them at the end of book 1, but the author has written them out of favor. They’re no longer likeable, sympathetic characters.
*This is the second book in a four book series, and ends on a cliffhanger.
This book is set entirely on the island Kursar—which we learned in the last book is “where the alphas of old ruled from.” Right away we’re introduced to the Imperial Dawn Pack and it’s three elders—who have acted as proxy-rulers in the absence of an Alpha Female—as they offer their fealty to Viv after she agrees to become their Dama.
The reigns to the kingdom are handed over, and Viv’s moved into an honest-to-god castle, where she doesn’t waste any time asserting her dominance. If that sounded slightly snippy, know that it was meant to. It just brushed me the wrong way how quickly Viv took to being a queen.
Conflict arises not even twenty-four hours into her new rule, from both internal and external forces. Quick on its heels is the discovery of a secret underground lab with ties to Dr. Faulk, and potential Collective spies doubling as potential mates.

Title: Claiming Hope (Hope #2) by Elizabeth Knight POV(s): Multiple—First Person Interconnected Series: Yes Standalone: No Cliffhanger: Yes HEA: Relationship: Reverse Harem Genre(s): Paranormal Romance Triggers: N/A Tags/Tropes: ❖ Alpha-Female ❖ Fated-Mates ❖ Genetically-Modified["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
The FMC has been a werewolf for a few weeks, maybe a month or two. Some of her mates are several centuries old and try to give her advice/explain things. She hardly listens to them and if she does it only happens after she violently react. She acts rashly getting into stupid/horrible situations. Any little thing sets her off and her first (only) reaction is total domination including hurting people. Yet she is a Dr and supposedly a nurturer.
The villian(s) are so glaringly obvious that they are more a caricature of a character. The FMC and mates don't recognize any of the villians except for the fiancé that kidnapped her in book 1. One of her mate's has the ability to glean someone's feelings if he is touching them. When he tries to do that, the FMC loses her shit and stops him.
The FMC has to be told who the villians are by someone repeating what someone else overheard and that there are plans to get rid of her. She stops anyone from rounding them up or doing anything about it. Instead she wants to go explore with her mates.
Of course things happen and a couple of days go by before anything is done about the villians and their plan. By then it is already in motion. The FMC and MMC all decide on a plan of action. The FMC does the first part and then throws out the script.. more like she takes the script, pisses on it and then lights it on fire. Her actions reaction is rash and takes the situation from a shit show to the equivalent of a sewage treatment plant exploding. Of course the whole time her mates are trying to talk to her and she loses it and forces everyone to submit to her. So she can proceed to f@ck up the plan.
I don't know why any of her mates are with her. She doesn't do anything for them except to have sex with them and even then it's pretty one sided. Her mates on the other hand are for the most part thoughtful and supportive. They constantly do whatever they can to show their love and affection.
In this second volume, Viv headed to Kursar with her four mates in order to seek refuge on the small island. Over there, she faced the implications of being a Dama and accepted meeting prospect mates sent by the Collective. Unfortunately, Viv and her mates realised that Kursar isn't as safe as they thought... I loved this book even if I found some part a bit long. I didn't know what to think first about the prospect mates but it made sense at the end. Darius is still the ass*ole is ever been and the way Viv finally "tamed" him was a bit weird🤨 Big cliffhanger at the end and it bodes nothing good for the next volume☹️
That ending doesn't sit right with me. Her alpha ness is starting to get annoying. The drama is starting to feel forced by the end. still looking-forward to next book.
Note: I received this book from the author and I voluntarily give this review, it is my honest opinion.
They say that second books are the hardest for authors and let me tell you Elizabeth knocked it out of the park with Claiming Hope. It's the second book in the Hope series and it was freaking epic. So much happened, there are more characters, and the world has expanded. I loved every word from the beginning to the end and I can only imagine what's gonna happen next.
This series has a twist to the general werewolf lore, I mean Elizabeth still pulls from things we know like mates and certain rituals but then there is the scientific twist to the series which makes this a whole new type of story. It freshens up the story makes everything even more interesting especially the plot twists that make their way throughout this book.
Another thing that made this story fantastic is the characters. Viv is Dama, which is basically a werewolf queen. Her whole life has been upended and she is new to the shifter world, a world that she is supposed to lead and protect. So obviously things are hard but Viv doesn't let that stop her, she is willing to learn, ask questions and lean on those around her. She has adapted to the world remarkably well and quite fast, plus she is more in-tune into her wolf now. That's another thing, Viv's wolf is very present in the story and the chick is sassy and hilarious. Viv's wolf is one of my favorite characters, the snark, the wit, the way shit just fillies out of her mouth, it was great. I never laughed so hard in my life, one of my favorite things is when a book can make me laugh.
The guys in the harem are all super yummy. Their personalities are more obvious in this one with Rik being super protective, Tav is the supportive one, Koit is the playful one and Darius, is the alpha-a-hole who has to learn a lesson, I mean there is always one right. Each brings with them something that Viv obviously needs in life and to help her fulfill the role of Dama. They also bring with them a wealth of werewolf information that helps Viv and a little drama as well. Things are getting interesting with the guys, including the fact that a few more guys are introduced to Viv. Things are definitely getting a little wild and steamy, and I'm loving it.
Okay while the steam is amazing, the group dynamic is really great. I like the guys together and how they interact with Viv. I can tell that while there are some glitches overall they are a tight-knit group. Everyone is learning how to be apart of Viv's life, apart of the harem. It's really interesting that while the guys mostly get along they have to focus on Viv's responses to learning new things about their world, so they band together to help her out.
The steam isn't the only reason I love Claiming Hope, the story arc was pretty epic. So readers are given a little more information about the shifter world, a better look at how things run within a pack. All the different dynamics within the shifter hierarchy, things that are expected. More information about the guys is revealed. The flow was pretty steady with a decent amount of action but the crazy plot twists and the shocks are what ramped everything up. Dude I was enraptured, this book had me and I didn't want it to let me go.
Claiming Hope was a freaking amazing ride, with sex mates, royal responsibilities, epic betrayal, a wolf that I want for a best friend, and a kickass alpha female who knows how to get shit done. When I say that the ending of Claiming Hope was crazy, I mean it was batshit crazy. So much happened and it ended on one helluva cliffhanger. I loved this book and I can't wait for the third book in the series, the way it's gonna be tough because I am read for Defending Hope.
Viv is lost. Finding out your dad sold you into marriage is pretty awful. Being kidnapped after the jerk introduces himself, by letting himself into your home- with the key your dad gave him, adds to the awful. But being turned into a werewolf by him, as an ongoing guinea pig project started before her birth, is just icing on the crap cupcake. Saved from that fate, but landing in another mess, is only helped by the fact that the guys are with her. Even if 1 wants to go slow and the other keeps playing hot and cold. But, this tiny island she's headed towards, well, things are about to tip into bonkers. She finds a lot of answers, but they aren't a thing like whathat she was hoping for.
Spoilers ahead. This really almost needed to be 2 books. There is so much, so, so, much going on that it's crazy. It's overwhelming. And then? Then it ends on a cliffhanger. A very brutal one. And a lot of what happened leaves me with so many questions, ones I'm going to have a hard time asking without book ruining spoilers. *With the power she amassed, especially via a certain heavenly mate, how were they not able to completely decimate those forces? No, seriously. Because science experiment vs phenomenal cosmic power? No contest. *Moved a chunk of security force, but didn't think to add air patrol and cover? Really? *Still not sure what certain human accomplices think they're going to get out of this deal. Literally no power once the deal was made and the bargaining chip was out of their hands. They then became dead weight, figuratively. Possibly literally if they think they're going to speak up at some point. *The only reason I can come up with for her being suckered is hope and hormones. *There's a background between 2 mates that's resolved ridiculously fast and out of camera. And another between 2 others that doesn't make sense considering how the C treated him, so why turn over another to their less than tender mercy? *There's a known issue in the C. Why wasn't this threat taken care of? Not even anything violent, just removed from the source? *Ahem. A lot of potentials were there for the showdown. Where was their assistance? You'd think they'd have a vested interest, you know? *None of these potentials, who were raised in possessive, monogamous relationships have a qualm about the arrangement they're looking at trying to join? *Her creation take adds a certain ick factor to a certain suitor's persistence.
This book takes a darker turn. The secrets uncovered, the internal and external battles waged, the scene in the dungeon (the fact that they have a dungeon), and then that ending. Whereas last book ended on an, if not happy note, at least a hopeful one; this one is a bit more grim. I still have my questions. And some just aren't puzzling out for me, and I love mysteries. I'm very curious to see where this could be headed in the next 2 books. I want to know.
I love where this series is going! Claiming Hope is everything that I hoped it would be and so much more. Not only do we get more information regarding Viv's past and how she was created in this second book, we also get a bit of mystery as pieces begin to fall together and even more questions arise, some emotional epiphanies and revealed secrets, brand new characters that are easy to bring into the group setting, and finally Viv taking charge in her own way. There's so much going on in this book, but I loved every second of it. Viv's acceptance to becoming the Dama was such an overwhelming thing for her with all the other crazy going on, but she seemed to take it in stride, settling fears among the people in the island by cherishing and protecting their traditions but still bringing some new to the old and enriching what they have already built over the years. What's crazy is that Viv doesn't feel capable of being Dama, however, she has such a huge heart and a determination that cannot be deterred, making her the perfect leader. But... you'd think that being on an isolated island would slow things down a bit. What would a book be without these kinds of twists and surprises? Viv's past just keeps following her around, mixing the old problems with the new ones, blending them together so we can see how almost everything is linked somehow. People may have their own goals in the long run, but each person needs someone else to make it happen. Then we start to see this massive web of connections. It's really hard to know who can be trusted and who will end up stabbing you in the back in the end. You end up questioning things you were once sure of. These are the kinds of books that I love. The unpredictable ones that always keep you guessing. I cannot wait to see how things play out in the next book!
I'm still super enjoying this series! But holy fuck Viv gives me major major secondhand embarrassment nearly constantly!!
So newbies to the harem. Tristan - he is walking sex on a stick! But the way she feels with him has me gagging. Though I like that he knew she was basically panting for him. But we love a silver fox 🦊
Bentley - honestly he gives me golden retriever vibes. But like he also has a bite to him. And never pegged (lol) him as the dude for anal. Thought my boi Darius would have that covered. Bentley is just too cute.
Orion - yeah I HATED him at first. Like full on gave me creeper vibes. Still kinda does. Also demigod? Don't we got enough going on. Also we had Darius and now Orion? Anyone else getting Zodiac Academy vibes? Actually Koit gives be Seth vibes. And she bit Orion and said she sucked his blood like a vampire....
Original Gang: Darius!! Glad he finally got his head out of his ass and he gives me Daddy vibes
Koit - still enjoying the playful side.
Rik - he's so serious. While Darius gives me Daddy, Rik gives me Dad vibes.
Tav - he'll always be my favourite. He just seems so in tuned with Viv.
Now for Vaddy boi. Like homie don't know when to give up. She's just not that into you. And I saw what Mother Dearest was doing a mile away. Never should have trusted her.
Welp let's go save our girl...again.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Oh this is another great series to read. However, if you have not read book one Hidden Hope, you need to before starting this book otherwise you may not understand what is going on. So we continue where book one leaves off and we start off on an island. Only Vivianna has no clue what is going on until after they land. It is a bit shocking and a lot to take in. We learn more about her history and the werewolf history. There is a secret revealed from Koit and it was shocking to others. Also we find out that there could be more mates for Vivianna, like up to nine. Say what??? Right, which is quite hilarious. So imagine how that is going to go. Daddy dearest still has not given up his fight to get Vivianna with Vadik. So people are also trying to keep her from ruling Kurser. Vadik also does not plan to stop getting to her. A lot happens and gets crazy. I love that Viv learns to use her her alpha powers. There was also a certain section in the book that I thought my heart was going to stop. Elizabeth Knight exceeded my expectations of this follow up. You will get sucked in this world from the jump. There is cliffhanger and grrr.. Let the waiting begin.
What did I just read! Oh my word, I am left panting and feel like snarling.
Usually, the second book in a series is supposed to be reasonably predictable. Right...? Right!
Elizabeth Knight must have read this note, turned around, and did whatever the hell she wanted. Though I suspect a particular sassy wolf had a paw in there.
The story starts calmly enough, with Viv landing on the island. However, it takes off from there, and we are introduced to new characters. Each of them is intrinsically woven further into the tapestry of Viv's story.
My favorite part was the end. It is the sign of a fantastic book if you continue to read while feeling miserable to know you are almost at the end...
This second book is again another breathtaking and adventurous tale. And the series keeps giving by leaving you with plenty of new plotlines to be curious about in the third book.
Honestly it was a pretty good book with the exception that all the crap that happened at the end of it was completely avoidable. It was ridiculous!! I mean, one would think that with werewolves who lived for fucking CENTURIES they would know better than to fall for a few crappy years and a sad story especially when they had a GODDAMN WEREWOLF WITH POWERS TO KNOW THE FUCKERS INTENSION but of course not! Why would they use their assets and their brains for something like that right. I’m kind pissed, especially with Vic rushing everything in that battle without even fucking thinking of the goddamn consequences, I mean, are u for real?!! Throughout all of that I was thinking “no, she cannot be that stupid, it’s just not possible after everything she went through, she is not that stupid, righttt????” But yes, she was that stupid.
Yesss Queen! Book 2 wow just as amazing as book 1! A million percent recommend devouring this series.
What an epic second book. Claiming hope picks up with Viv and her mates the ones who are by her side reminding her that she’s no longer alone which lets admit makes you swoon!! Viv who after being kidnapped and tortured has come out of it stronger and better for it because of her inner strength and wolf not to mention her sexy mates only it’s not the end. There’s more so so much more. This rollercoaster of emotions had me feeling all the feels and wishing it never ends. That freaking ending though I swear *picks up thrown kindle* worth it for more of her books to read!!! To think it all started with a naked man in an alley way 🤣. Bring on defending hope!
Again with the rushed mating but the story is getting better. Some parts were really predictable though. Sarma. Elena. The poison.
Orion came out of no where. Literally.
Thomas' story was a bit underdeveloped. I understood the why, just missed the how?
Viv was stupid at the end of this book but I assume we just blame the heightened emotions that come with her heat? She should have listened to her mates. They warned her before they even left the room that she wasn't thinking the way she normally would because of the heat.
Let's see what happens next.
Also, the fade to black, very little detailed spice is just a waste. There's so much potential here for glorious spice and I'm a bit disappointed. Maybe I'm just a hornball? 😂
Not my cuppa regarding plot. Loke this genre but getting tored of authors that spend the whole book showing you how great and powerful everyone is while they miss all the fairly obvious signs for people of their skill and then the lead ends it by doing something kinda ridiculous. You know the ones where the author tries to make it ok by adding a surprise, but it's too late and a bit of a reach. Makes you slowly lose respect for everyone in the book and then it is pointless to continue. I think this is more for people that like the reality show drama aspect of books. Promising start that just isn't going to keep me for the rest of the series.
I don’t even know where to begin. I picked this book up and could not put it down until it was finished. Elizabeth killed it with this book. It picks up right where the first one left off arriving to Viv’s new home. My favorite part about this book was seeing Vic turn into the Dana she was meant to be. Along the way she finds adds to her mates and faces real trouble from old and new foe’s. She also discovered more about herself the. She ever new before. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series!
Elizabeth Knight continues Viv’s story and she did an amazing job. She gave Viv a voice to continue being the independent and strong woman Viv is. Only reading a couple of pages and you can already see the selfless person Viv is. She puts others needs before her own but knows she has much to learn in the pack world. Her guys do not disappoint and provide her with support when she needs it. They all learn to work together because change is happening in the packs.
This book does include dark topics like torture that are possible triggers.
So I fell in love with Hope in the first book and the guys were really growing on me, but this second book I fell head over heels for ALL of them! This book dives right in where we left off and is full of action, mystery, suspense, steam, laughs, and a little bit of everything. I loved getting to know the characters more and go on this journey with them where there are a lot of unknowns. I absolutely can't wait to see what is in store for the next book! Great job Elizabeth! Oh and you may want to (I wanted to) but don't throw your kindle at the end!
The story premise is interesting and I did enjoy it to an extent, however the ending was not what I was hoping for. This story was very slow compared to book one, there’s a lot of boring political type stuff that happens for the majority of it.
Based on the synopsis and reviews for the next book I won’t be continuing this series. I didn’t realize that we’d be looking at a medical torture storyline which is one of my most plots to come across in a book. I also understand the next book is basically very depressing and I’m just not up for it sadly.
Book 2 of this series is here and I am super excited for it. I fell so I love with this story line and characters in book 1 and I am so excited for this read!
Elizabeth Knight blew me away with this one this series keeps getting batter and better.
I will not post spoilers but....
Once I started I couldn’t stop! I have tons of questions that need to be answered and I need more! I can’t wait for book 3
The hits defiantly keep coming for Viv and her men. She has shown so much strength and leadership becoming the Dama of her new pack. She even manages to add to her oh so sexy collections of mates (seriously hot scenes you are going to want to read). There are many trials that Viv has to overcome... And this ends with the dreaded cliffhanger. I hope Viv and her mates finally take down Vadik and his merry band of dogs down in Defending Hope.
Reading a book by Elizabeth Knight is like going on an adventure. Starting book two was like starting a new series it was thrilling, adventurous and so dang exciting. Book two in the hope series will leave you excited, thrilled and unable to put the book down until it's finished. I'm going to be left with one heck of a bookhangover. Elizabeth Knight surely is a UNICORN and I cannot wait to see what she comes out with next.
Wow, what a fantastic second book. In this book we see Viv and her mates arrive at the island of Kursar and Viv getting thrown into a new life of an Alpha Queen all while still hiding from Vadik. We get to see Viv in a more confident light in his book as she navigates this new world and try’s to find her way. We also get a few new surprises along the way with some delish new characters as well as forgiveness and betrayal. And of course the mother of all cliffhangers!!!!
Book two begins where book one ended and boy was it a thrilling and fun ride. This second book blew it out of the park for me, giving me so many feelings throughout the entire book. I thought book one was amazing and somehow Elizabeth Knight has topped it with this show stopper! So much adventure, loved getting lost in the story and never knowing what's going to happen next! And that ending... I need more... Like yesterday haha what a brilliant book!
First off this is the second book in a series that you must read before reading this book. It continues the story for Viv. I love the take on shifter society and what Ms Knight has done here. Viv and her guys are great together, learning as they go This does touch on darker subjects. Be aware whe picking this up. I truly enjoy the style of writing here and will continue to look forward to these books.
Good lawd, how many mates does a girl need to reach her full strength? Oh my! And as smart as you though she was being a ER doc, naw forget it in this book. She shows herself to be a dumb A$$ over and over again. Making decisions that make you cringe with how stupid she is. I knew this was a reverse harem and I do okay with them until anal sex, then I lose interest and shut down. That is just nasty!
Boy, is this a great story or what. I am pissed that the 3rd book won't be ready until late June 2021. What a strong character in Vivianna and one that all her mates really appreciate. Plus, I like the female Alpha idea and in this series is presented in a unique way. Thanks Elizabeth for an utterly entertaining book and series. Can't wait for number 3 and it appears there will be a 4th. You go girl!
Book 2 in the series and @elizabeth_kni8ht comes through again. Except she made it spicier! The storyline continues and it’s amazingly good. I’m still in love with all the characters except Sarma and few others (looking at you “parents”)
The ending???? How could you Elizabeth how could you? Thank the Lord im reading now that they’re all out or I’d be whipping my kindle!
Oh no she’s been kidnapped who could’ve guessed? What a shock!? That was sarcasm if you couldn’t tell. I dislike calling bools boring but this one was rather tedious, nothing overtly interesting happened. It was predicted from the start. I do have to say that I like the newest additions to her group but I don’t think they’ll be enough to encourage me to read the rest of the series. I’ve checked out and am pretty much done.
