Wolf Tamer

An Orphan Girl. A Group of Wolves. A Destined Fate for War.

Don't you ever wish to find where you belong? A place where you can rest your head without worrying about being jumped or your possessions being taken from you? Not like I had much, to say the least.

A pendant, an ancient blade, and a picture of my murdered family were all I had left when I was five years old. Foster homes to homeless shelters, I never found a place of refuge. I simply didn't belong, and everyone made it their duty to remind me of my predicament. Until I finally came across a place that felt like home.

Sacred Moon Shelter for Endangered Wolves.

I'd stumbled upon the sanctuary when I was near death, but I was miraculously saved.
Since then, I've become a Wolf Tamer; the only one who can get close to touching the six rare breeds. When I'm with them, I feel safe and sometimes wish I could be like one of them and escape this cruel world.

But such inhumanity strikes home, a group of hunters shows up, ready to take my wolves to an unknown place or murder them in cold blood. I won't allow them to kill the only true family I'd ever known.

My name is Harper Blake, and I vow to claim and protect my own.

This book is a New Adult Series and recommended for 17+.

I really enjoyed this book and the set up for it was very different, which I thought was a nice change. The first half is all tracking Harper from an event when we was about 6 years old all the way up to 20 years old. When she was younger she was orphaned and because of the way the book is structured we are able to understand Harper, her wolves and several of the side characters. The story really picks up when Harper is 20 years old and she’s starting to discover truths that are around her and the sanctuary that she lives in and helps to take care of. There’s a lot of danger that comes in the form of hunters and corrupt individuals that Harper has to face. She has her wolves around her and her boyfriend however she’s been kept in the dark about both herself and their truths. At the end of the book we see Harper learning some of these revelations but there’s still much more to be discovered and learned. I’m excited for book 2 and to see where that bring us!

I hadn’t read the original when this book was originally published but I did get to read the updated version and it was fantastic. Avery has done it again with every book she writes she creates is great world with amazing characters and Wolf Tamer was no different. Watching Harper go from a small traumatized scare child to the Queen that she is and she would do absolutely anything to protect her pack! This story is packed full my all the things you love from Avery Song mystery, suspense, and wolves! Oh yes the wolves we all love! This story gave me all the feels and left me in tears with that cliffy and I can’t wait for the next in the series

I read the first version of this which was written under Avery's old pen name. Back then I loved this book and the rest of the series. So to see it come back and with content added to the original book. And things changed a little made for an even better read.
The characters are so well written and with everything that Harper goes through in the first lot of chapters you just want the best for her every time.
Totally can't wait to see how you re-work book 2

Wolf Tamer is a revamped and extended story that was previously under Avery Song's other name, Yumoyori Wilson. I really enjoyed this revamped/extended version and I am excited to see what is going to happen next as the story progresses. This story had me feeling so many emotions throughout it. I smiled, I laughed, I got angry, and I cried as parts where revealed, and those parts that are revealed will absolutely shock and floor you. Just a fair warning that if you do not want spoilers, my review not be the one for you to read.

In Wolf Tamer, Harper is just five years old when hunter's come for her and her family, although her family that is killed is not who she thinks they are. Ian finds her in his wolf form, Wolfie, and she is brought to the sanctuary where she is eventually adopted by Dolly and Sam after many unsuccessful attempts at finding her a foster home that is good for her. At the sanctuary, she meets Carter, Levi, Damien, Hayden, and Heston, but they are just wolves to her at the time since she is not supposed to know that they can change into their human forms. Their first initial meeting had me smiling and laughing when Harper popped Carter on his nose and put him in his place after Muffin, Harper's kitten, ran into the scene and slapped his nose.

As the story progresses, Ian and Harper grow closer together over the years, and at age 12 and 14 they share their first kiss. This is not necessarily good because Carter sees and takes off because Harper is his fated mate and he should have had that moment with her first, not Ian. Carter ends up injured and ends up having to take Harper's memories of him and the rest of the pack to protect them all. Ian and Harper end up mating at 16, which is also a huge no and slap in the face to Carter, and they end up keeping it a secret which will have consequences later in the story. At first I liked Ian, but once Carter and Harper have their scene in the woods near the end of the book and Carter explains his side and exactly how much Ian has messed up, my opinion of him has changed. Ian has a lot of apologizing to do not only to Carter but to the rest of the pack as well. Honestly, I wouldn't mind at all if Carter and the rest of the guys end up getting more time with Harper in the next book than Ian. Actually, I would prefer it if they did because Ian knew better and needs to learn that there are consequences to his actions. Besides, he has been with Harper for a long time while Carter and the rest barely got any time with her at all. It's only fair. I also would enjoy more of the guy's POV in the next book as well if possible.

One of my favorite scenes in this book was when Kira stood up to the 'investors' and revealed just how powerful she was in the community and exactly what was going to happen if these 'investors' got a hold of the town. Another favorite was the scene in the woods and afterwards between Carter and Harper, even though I legit cried along with Carter and Harper as Carter broke down and explained exactly why he was so hurt and angry. I also loved the confrontation between Carter and Ian when Carter revealed to Ian that he was Harper's mate to. Last but not least, I absolutely cheered when Harper revealed to Sam who actually bought the sanctuary as well as Dolly's part in the grand scheme of things. Sam and Rogan both got what they deserved at the end and I could not be happier.

That ending though had me screaming for more. I need the next book NOW! I need to know that Harper survives and just what being a Wolf Seeker will entail while she rises to her rightful throne.

Undetermined feelings but awaiting book 2

Reading this was an odd experience for me. I've been reading some of the other current wolf series written by Avery Song when I saw this book coming up, with the blurb starting this is a modified re-release of a book, which did have a familiar name for me but I couldn't remember if I'd read it before.

When I started reading it, it became clear to me that I had read the previous version, I couldn't remember specifics so I couldn't comment on what has been changed, but prior to them happening I had foreshadows in my mind of Harper being unexpectedly alone in the house with Ian and of them being in the police station together, and certain scenes giving me dejavu, so while I didn't fully remember, obviously there were scenes that stuck in my mind from whenever I read it a few years ago.

I'm unable to determine if I like this book or not. Sometimes I'm like that, where particularly with a first book I spend the book trying to determine what's going on, which can be harder when the book is wordy with the narrating character thinking or speaking for over-long periods of time without action happening. I know that sounds negative but that was how I also felt about the first book in Willow's Forbidden Pack and I'm currently waiting for book 3 and I'm enjoying that series.

The characters of Harper and Ian did feel quite juvenile, but of course for half of the book they were either children or teenagers so I guess that's to be expected. However, Harpers behaviour to Rick and the female bully's did still feel immature and brattish when she was 20 rather than being the badass as I think she was intended. There were also things that didn't quite make sense, such as Ian not knowing what Carter and Harper were to each other, I felt it had been made clear when Harper was 12, and it's not like Ian's memory was wiped, which makes Ian's actions later worse. These were little inconsistencies that were a little frustrating.

It wasn't totally clear why certain actions were taken, and how those actions were for protection. Although it could be that those were manipulated to think those were protective actions, so I found it hard to determine what I felt about these. It was also hard to determine at the end who had known what all along, and I'm not sure all this information was consistent.

I'll keep my eyes open for book 2, which hopefully will give me more clarity about this series.

If you were a fan of the original Wolf Tamer, buckle up! This new, extended story took everything I loved about Wolf Tamer and cranked it up 10 notches. Everyone I love was in there, but the growth shown by the characters was just so much more.

Harper still has trials and bouts of self-doubt, but she turns from a child questioning everything to one amazing young woman with the drive and power to change her world.

We still see plenty of Ian, and he's a romantic dreamboat, but we get much more of Carter. His selflessness and sacrifice are astounding and my heart bled for him a bit. Damian, Levi, Hayden, and Heston are still in there, and we get a couple of great scenes with them, but I'm looking forward to exploring those relationships more in future books.

Kira!! She was so amazing. So strong, firece, smart, and an overall force to be reckoned with. The girl squad relationship she forms with Harper is a fun and interesting one as they work together to change their town from a racist cesspool to a safe haven for all. And their plans are so satisfying to watch come together.

There was action, steam, magic, and plenty of evil behind the scenes. It's an amazing read and i in so glad Avery took the time to revamp this. I can't wait for what comes next!

Wolf Tamer

Harper Blake had her world shattered when she was 5 years old. She saw her parents and brother being killed and then she was forced to run for her life from the hunters who viciously killed her only family.

She not only lost all she had ever known, but she also lost any knowledge from her heritage that she was supposed to have been given as she grew older. Now all she has left of her family is a family heirloom that her mother gave her last breathe to make sure Harper took it with her, a picture and a necklace. Everything else is irrevocably lost.

Harper is shuffled from one foster home to another until she finds a home with a unique family who gives her safety and a new world she never realized was out there. If you are looking for a romantic journey with a FMC who will give her all for the men in her life, then this is the book for you.

One click this book now and be ready to laugh, cry and steam up your Kindle! You won’t want to put this book down until you turn the last page!

Ugh, why do I put myself through this each and every time?! I knew I was going to be hooked. I knew this was going to be so worth the read. I KNEW I had to wait for the next book to come out! But here I am, book started and finished on the same day because I obviously could not help myself.

The first version of this story was sooooo good. I loved every second of it. This second version is just as good, but slightly better because we get a different angle and twist to the story.

The characters are just as amazing. And, of course, just like the first version, my heart goes out to Carter! Ugh, this book was an emotional rollercoaster! The heartache for Carter is too much for my heart. I was close to tears and I am still struggling to breathe. I hope he becomes selfish when it comes to Harper. He deserves nothing but pure love and happiness!

This book hooks you and keeps you wanting more. I hate the wait, but I am looking forward to get my hands on Wolf Seeker!

This is the first wolf shifter book I have read by Avery Song, and I was not disappointed. This book is set up a lot different than other wolf shifter books I have read. In this book we follow Harper from the time she is 5 years old until she is in her 20's. In this book we meet her wolves and several other side characters. Each having their own personalities that are real and relatable. Throughout the whole story there are hunters and corrupt individuals coming from all sides to attacked Harper and her wolves. Unfortunately, to keep Harper safe, she has been left in the dark multiple times from the time she was young. Now closer to the end, she is starting to remember more and piece things together. I'm excited to see how everyone grows in the next book, how their relationships change, and what happens next for all of then coming forward.

Avery Song is an author that knows how to craft a story that lives in the readers mind. Due to this the reader becomes invested in the characters they are reading about. Brace yourself for a wild ride when you read this story. This is a book filled with suspense, wonder and danger. Although this is a rewritten work of Avery Song, I have to say she added a depth and richness to the story as it stands now, filled with complex and engaging cast of characters. This book is simply stunning. There’s romance, magic, adventure, and magic that flows through out the storyline. The characters were easy to relate to and understand. To me it felt as though the cast of characters became my friends throughout the story. As the story developed I felt as though I grew closer to the main characters as if I was living the intrigues and adventures with them. I can’t wait for more.

When her parents are murdered, five year old Harper flees for her life with only a picture of her family, a pendent and an ancient blade that her mother told her to always protect. When she is injured and near death she is found by a wolf, that she names Wolfie. Wolfie, who is really a shifter named Ian takes her back to his home, a shelter for endangered wolves. From there Harper bounces from foster home to foster home, never fitting in until she is adopted by Dolly and Sam from the Sacred Moon Shelter.

Wolf Tamer is truly amazing! Avery has away of creating a world where you fall in love with the characters and are drawn into the story that is full of magic, mystery, suspense and betrayal.
I really fell in love with Harper and it was great to see how she grew from the traumatized five year old to a strong, magnificent woman, that would do anything to protect her pack.
Out of all of the guys Carter is my favorite. He had to give up so much just to protect Harper. It really broke my heart when he had to leave her with Ian and put a spell on her that took her memories. Carter also had to sacrifice so much just to make the Elders and others happy.
Wolf Tamer was truly amazing and will tug on your heartstrings and you better have tissues because you will need them with that emotional cliffhanger!

I remember reading this book a few years ago and loving Harper’s story. It was good back then, now after the additional scenes
and changes it became even better.
Harper is such a strong character. That i fell in love with. I love the guys too, even though i am a little annoyed at one of them in particular. Keeping people in the dark to protect them usually annoy me to no end. I dont like the “keep the damsel in distress stupid for her own good thing” when it does the opposite every time. Harper became so strong over the long timeline in this book and I can’t wait to see what happens next after those last few chapters. The action was nonstop and so fast paced I couldn’t put my kindle down.
Sooo many stars for this one.

You're thrown straight into the action of Wolf Tamer. At the age of five, Harper's family is murdered and she is being hunted. Harper is left for dead and was found by Wolfie aka Ian; a wolf shifter only a few years older than her. Taken back to a wolf sanctuary, we get see Harper's story unfold. There are so many different twists in the 15 year period as Harper grows up. We will meet her pack (led by the one and only Carter), her new bestie Kira, her kitten named Muffin (Maybe more than a kitten), and so many other characters. You will laugh, you will cry, you will be indecisive about the men in her life (or maybe that's just me). So many feelings. I cannot wait to see how, what happened in the ending (spoilers) plays out in the next book.

Great revamp by Avery Song previously under her old pen name Yumoyori Wilson.

Amazing book that made me feel happy, hopeful, angry and annoyed! I really hope Harpers relationship with Carter evolves and becomes something great in the next book. At the beginning I was a huge fan of Ian and all the guys, but later on in the book I started to realize just how much Ian kind of screwed up with his choices and how Carter and the guys were actually the wronged party.

Hopefully the second book will focus more on Carter and the pack with Harper than on Ian. And I’m really looking forward to the build up on their relationship.

I will definitely continue reading this series! I am invested in this story after the ending of this book!

Loved it!!

Avery I love the redo of this book. Wolf Tamer was good the first time read it but this time I enjoyed more. You put more details in that was missing the first time around and that made it that much better this time around. I still love Carter more then Ian. Ian to me is to under hand with things. He knows he was supposed to things a certain way and just didn’t do it. Then Carter he needs to learn to say no and stop taking on the world on his own because that’s not healthy. The cliff that you left us with at the end of this book was a doozy and I can’t wait for next book.

Amazing read.

I love how this book starts from when Harper is 5 years old how she has over come so much turmoil. I like how it's not just a flash back but actually shows how Harper and Ian met and how she was introduced to the other 4 wolfs, Carter, Levi, Damien, Hayden and Heston.

The turmoil they go through from the beginning with being an orphan to meeting O'Neil and Keira and how the story flows.

I won't give away any spoilers but this was amazing read and is well written, I have laughed and cried at some parts and want to punch some characters as well.  I can't wait for the next book.

🐾🐺Powerful and exciting!

I originally read this under our fearless authors previous name. However when she sets about reworking a book, she does it brilliantly! This is a far richer and denser book than before. It's filled with brilliantly complex characters and delicious world building. Everything you could possibly want reside within. After all there's magic, tragedy, romance, steamy moments, danger, adventure, family by choice, and a mystery at the core that touches more than one person. This will take you on an exciting ride and fill you with oh so many feels!!!! I can't wait for book two!

Avery has done it again, this is such a great book! Have tissues handy, some parts will make your eyes leak. There were times where I wanted to slap some of the male characters, but that usually happens.

It is great to watch Harper grow throughout the book and stay true to herself while coming into her own.

At some points in the storyline it makes you step back and really make you think about society and humanity. Even touching on these heavy topics it only adds to the storyline and to the depth of each character. I do need some more twin time in the next book which I will patiently (cough cough) wait for!

ARC REVIEW:

I had not read the original version of Wolf Tamer written under the pen name of Yumoyori Wilson, however I was lucky enough to receive an ARC copy of the re-vamped Wolf Tamer to review. I found Wolf Tamer to be an interesting read with a little bit of a different spin to wolf shifters, which I enjoyed. The story is mainly told from the first person POV of the MC Harper, who has been through so much in her life, and is striving to become who she is meant to be despite the fact that she's left in the dark of so much in her life. Wolf Tamer is a great read if you enjoy wolf shifter RH reads but are looking for a bit of a twist.

I read the original version of this book but was more then happy to give it another go when new content was added for the re-release. I was not disappointed in the slightest as we follow Harper. We get lots of insight into her past that made her what she is now before we pick up during current time to follow what happens next. A well written book that will quickly draw you into the world created keeping you turning the pages until the very end. A great read for fans of paranormal/shifter books. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

Absolutely loved this book

This is a book that was originally written under a different pen name, but was rewritten and added to, I never read the original book as it was taken down before, I became an avid reader of Avery’s work.
But I can honestly say I’m glad Avery brought it back, as it’s an amazingly captivating story, with great characters, who I can’t wait to learn more about in the next book, wolf seeker.

Harper's story is riveting

Harper had a rough start to life. Thankfully she found her way to people who cared. Her life is still full of secrets, lost memories and teenage love. I love that we get to see how she grows. A bit disappointed about all the lies and omissions she is feed about her life. Definitely an amazing wolf shifter start of series. Anxious to see how her story continues.

OMG! I loved the original when I first read the book, though it sometimes felt disjointed, but this reboot and extension fixes all that. This book is even more amazing and really pulls the story together. I really like how the characters are more full and that we understand them better now, although there is more to learn. I can't wait to see how Avery Song makes the rest of the series better than before.

Avery Song is amazing! I'm tired of reading books that have fated mates that everything is perfectly laid out for, and they just click and live happily ever after. They are nice to zone out from reality, but sometimes you need something different. This was a refreshing twist on fated mates and secrecy, all with some hot and steamy scenes. If you are looking for something that is out of the box you have found it!

Another book with interesting concept but just too long winded. I skipped through many of the middle chapters as there was just to much detail that wasn’t relevant whilst not getting the plot anywhere. How many days in the life of the main character do we need? Finally, she reunited with her lost mate and BAM the book ends. Was such a disappointment as the premise was solid but I felt this was written to be a series rather than a good book.

WOW
No idea where to start. This book is the first in what I know will be an amazing series. It sets the stage for everything so well and in such detail. I was heartbroken when I realised I had finished the book.

Be prepared with a box of tissues and bottle of wine, to laugh and cry.

This book is absolutely amazing and the only down side is waiting so long for book 2
