Every story needs a villain.
I need an escape.

Unexpected is the word that comes to mind. But doesn’t mean I didn’t thoroughly enjoy the book, because I definitely did.
I loved the storyline about how even though we’re in the 21st century arrange marriages still occur. I loved the way Ruby told the story through the many POVs. You could get an understanding of what each character is thinking, seeing and feeling about what they were going through with this whole process as well as a look into their personal family lives.
Of course all the characters were great, unique but also connected in way and I enjoyed reading about that. Belle for being strong regardless of everything she has been through. Nathan for still holding on and keeping faith and hope regardless of his upbringing. Carter for still pushing through and not letting anyone bring him down after what he went through with Belle and his family. Preston for still holding on to Belle.
There were a couple of things that annoyed me. The first being how Belle easily told Preston and Nathan the truth. However when it came to Carter she didn’t and wouldn’t at first. Even though he’s the one who deserved to know the most (unlike Preston who she barely knew.) Not just because they had known each other the longest, but because he had been affected by the secret.
The other issue I had was I felt the when the climax was revealed, the story felt kind of rushed after that. I say this because honestly at many times throughout the book, I thought it was going to be a trilogy series. So I didn’t expect it to be a standalone until after the truth was revealed.
Overall, Ruby Vincent did it again. All her RH series have been amazing and Belle’s story is no different! A story filled with many emotions, feelings and lots of twists and surprises.
A great standalone RH and I would definitely recommend.

Such a bummer, as I’m actually around 1.5 stars :/ Having thoroughly enjoyed Ruby Vincent’s prior series, I had high hopes for this book.
There was just *way* too much going on for 336 pages; also, there was such a weird push/pull of information. The book felt super jolting as you floated between “wtf is going on” and random moments of exposition from random characters.
Also, the reverse harem felt so forced. I know it’s the *thing* these days, but for a one-book story that also has a complicated sub-plot, I think the main character would have been better off just romancing one of the guys... or at least then maybe it would have felt more authentic. Everything felt rushed to a sex scene, and then you got a ton of backstory/detail.
Finally, the whole stalker plot would have been more interesting if we knew what was going on from the beginning. By letting us know what Belle was actually up against in the beginning, it would have depended on the reader's connection to the character and brought us along with her, rather than leaving us with a ton of WTF moments.

August 23, 2021I'm not going to rate it because I didn't properly read the whole thing. I just want to put it on my RH shelf so I'll remember that I tried it. I skimmed because I was curious but the concept was a bit weird to me. Firstly the whole idea of a special community that wants their kids to marry each other is almost like a cult or a secret society. Yet many of the previous generation had found their own spouses the usual way, falling in love based on a chance meeting, as Belle said of her parents:
Then Belle and her secret stalker, which her family has never talked about. First: her family is known within these societal or community circles, so it's not possible that every time they moved, they'd be able to keep it quiet and not have anyone know, especially because they also have businesses and assets to keep up and protect. Second: Why wouldn't they want it known and seek expertise and help from this very powerful and rich community to take down the stalker? What was the point of keeping it secret? Third: How is it plausible that this guy can keep hunting them down? What kind of resources does he have access to that is allowing him to do this? Because all I can figure out about him is that he's rich, not like he's a superspy or has fantastic computer hacking skills or whatever. And he doesn't even seem to work with anyone, he hunts her alone.
I liked the connection Belle had with Preston based on their encounter at the art museum, but her relationship with Carter was annoying, all because of a lie that she told when they were younger. Carter's distress over that one incident and how it had haunted him ever since felt a bit OTT, but I also found it silly that she wouldn't have told the truth. And the thing that caused the breakup with Nathan, which caused Nathan to hate her so much, was a Big Miscommunication which could have been wrapped up by them just talking to each other. That's the plot device I hate the most in romances -- when authors allow a Big Miscommunication to go on for years and years! Not only that, Nathan decided 'tit for tat' was fair, to get revenge on her, and that wasn't honorable in any way, which made me not like him. Granted, he was young, and it's human to want to lash out at the person who has hurt you, but no. If you're hero material, you would be the better man. I hold my fictional heroes to a higher standard. #sorrynotsorry
I also thought there was wayyyyyyyy too much drama. Preston has his own situation to deal with. Meanwhile, Belle is super tormented. Not only does she constantly live in fear of being found by her stalker, she's also terrified her stalker will go after any man that she loves and destroy him. Her solution is to propose to Nathan that they have a marriage of convenience where they will both live apart, on different continents if possible -- while not telling him exactly why she wants such a sterile marriage. But of course that's not the kind of marriage that he'd want want with her, despite their past and the fact that he both hates and loves her (at least, until they clear up their Big Miscommunication... then there's no more hate, only love left).
At the same time, I thought that Belle jumped into bed with guys quite easily. She gave me a bit of a promiscuous vibe, which kind of didn't gel with the "don't get involved with people" thing she had going on. Maybe she did it just to give herself a bit of comfort and to get some intimacy and affection where she could.
I can't put my finger on it, but something about the plot, the writing style, was just rather odd and didn't sit well with me. I did not at all understand the whole Desai community thing (how do you get to be a part of the community? Is it genetics?) and the way she hopped in and out of each guy's bed rather blithely also felt a bit odd.
He bumped into her outside an ice cream parlor and got chocolate on her new dress. He felt terrible, offered to take her home to change, and they got talking on the drive. Mom said she knew as she waved him out of the driveway that England wasn’t the place for her anymore. She had to stay and get to know that clumsy charmer.
Then Belle and her secret stalker, which her family has never talked about. Hmm. I love the Breakbattle books plus the Evergreen series is so good. I like the Raven River trio and the standalone Trouble With Bullies... so it pains me to say that this book ain't it.
The heroine is ok but it took me a while to empathize with her. The three heroes I like. Something was off with this book, though, be it the pacing or characterizations, but I wasn't sold on the reverse harem. It felt rushed with all three, esp Preston since he had the least history with Belle. Like it just didn't sync as well for me as the other reverse harem books despite my really liking all 3 guys. She could have ended up with any of them exclusively in a one on one relationship and it would have worked. The reverse harem just didn't vibe this time and felt like an afterthought. I hope the next release has more punch to it.
Also, on a representation / diversity note, can we get a book with some young Black women who attend these academies and come from money? All the books I have read by this author and the erasure of young Black women in her books is bothering me esp seeing as Black men, Asian women, and I believe a few Latinx characters have been included. It makes no sense and is suspect as if Black women aren't wealthy & gorgeous too. It is unnecessary othering of Black women that I hope stops soon.

I kinda wished it was longer, but at the same time, it was understandable why it's a standalone - since its kinda a summer story.
Tbh I expected something different, after reading the blurb.
I thought Belle would be a total rebelle against those high society etiquettes, and is "not like other girls". Being punk or something 😂 i don't know...like, those typical clichés~
additionally, it wasn't really a college and bully book for me, in my opinion 😂
the bullying barely took place - not in that extend like in Evergreen, Breakbattle or Raven academy. I actually expected something like that. And the fights between Belle and Carter don't count for me. 😂
I was happy about the POV switches in this book. I don't think I would have stand Belle's POV alone.🤭
the guys were funny, and the dynamic and relationship was hilarious and in a way fast-paced, but it also made sense I guess, considering the circumstances and their personalities.

So, I read this book. First, I wasn't hooked at all. I was a little in a slump and my reading mood wasn't high. So, I wasn't into it at the beginning.
But as I start reading again and the story progressed, I found myself sucked in. It was unexpected in many ways. Though, some aspects felt forced. Like the situation with Carter. I couldn't understand, why she didn't tell him. I still don't understand why. Even, if I know her reasoning. And all just fell into place without problem.
The twists and turns were like a car accident. They crushed into you. Without warning. And in many ways it felt strange, how you get served the information. Of course, more to the end of the book.
It wasn't a bad story. I enjoyed it and had fun reading it. And it took me from my slump. For the moment, at least. But I can't say it was great, either. Because it didn't feel fluently. Like I said: A car accident. And I couldn't look away. Because somehow it was a good story. Some things were funny. I wanted to know how it ends.
But how did you rate something like that? For me, it is always important, if I enjoyed the book and the story. I did. I do want to rate it good. But it was confusing and strange somehow, too. And that isn't good, too. So I will go for the middle way? I don't rate under 3 stars. I rarely met a book, that is that bad and deserved a 1 or 2 stars rating. My rating system starts at 3 stars - mostly for average books and with some flaws - and the books I liked, got 4 stars. Books, I love and don't find a flaw myself, I give 5. So, this book is between 3 and 4 stars. I go for 3,5 stars. But round it up as 4.

Spectacular
This was just wonderful. So many stories try to be what this just *was* - a really great, well-written book.
Firstly, the characters - a great range of diverse, entertaining individuals with relationships that were organic and complicated.
Second - the set-up was believable. The number of books I’ve read about the super rich exclusive crowd who does things a particular way *just because* - or worse, because of a poorly constructed secret society…this made the set-up for the story a breath of fresh air.
Third - the complication/villain. This was done really well, creating an atmosphere of terror without reaching pantomime villain levels. The fear of the villain made Belle’s actions make sense.
Finally - the epilogue. I love epilogues that jump forward a number of years to show the future. It just so happens that the future Ms Vincent describes isn’t cloyingly sweet.
Combined with a writing style that builds worlds beautifully, doesn’t overdo the descriptions and captures dialogue in a very natural way, this is going on my re-read list. I’m off to go read everything else Ms Vincent has ever written.

3.5 ⭐️
I loved Evergreen. Loved. I like Breakbattle. So I went into this feeing really confident that I’d love this. Don’t get me wrong, I liked it. I did. I loved the suspense of the story. But, I was left wanting and feeling slightly disappointed.

There was more steam here than in Evergreen and I was totally her for it. But I almost wish this had been a duet or trilogy, so that we’d have proper time to get to know the characters. I felt like we didn’t get to know the guys like we should.
I felt for Belle, living in fear and pushing everyone away.
I absolutely wasn’t ready for the reveal and explanation of who *he* was and why *he* wanted Belle.
I feel like I’d recommend this book for a quick read for the suspense and reveal, but not for the love connection.

Wow
Well I can definitely say this book was not at all what I was expecting.
It shocked me more than once but it was absolutely amazing! Great way to start 2022!!!

Well I can definitely say this book was not at all what I was expecting.
It shocked me more than once but it was absolutely amazing! Great way to start 2022!!!

4.5 ⭐️ I absolutely loved this book! I was hooked straight away! I thought belle was just a bit of a downer at first but the more we learnt about her and what she’d been through I realised how strong and alone she was! Belle already knew the three MMC’s, her ex boyfriend, ex best friend and a one night stand! I loved all three of them! Belle’s parent tell her that she must attend Citrine Cove, a place people in there community meet to arrange marriage proposals! Belle is against marriage due to her past but when she gets there the 3 MMC’s are there, Preston, Carter and Nathan! They all become closer on the Island! Belle tells Preston and Nathan about her past but takes longer to tell carter which I found unfair on him! That plot twist though I did not see coming at all!! This book was amazing! Loved the epilogue too!

Exceptional reverse harem romance!

In attendance with Belle are three young men with whom she shares rocky history. As Belle and each young man work through past grievances, they learn there is a beast in Belle's life. Things take a dire turn and the young men must come face to face with the beast if they have any chance of saving Belle.
I really enjoyed reading Belle and the Beast by Ruby Vincent. The characters were well developed and likable. Each guy had his own past experiences with Belle independent from the others providing interesting storylines topped with the relationship of an obsessed stalker storyline. Highly recommend Vincent's intricate standalone.

Loved this enemies to lovers romance.
Belle has had to leave behind happiness time and time again because she believes she isn't allowed to be happy. She drove away her best friend Carter when she was twelve, then she broke up with her boyfriend Nathan when she was in high school because of a misunderstanding and now she must walk away from Preston because he wants more than she can give him. The dark cloud that taints Belle's life is something she's not willing to expose anyone to again after Carter got hurt the first time. This is a great reverse harem romance and I highly recommend it!

Loved!
Ruby Vincent is a one-click author for me. I've loved every book of hers that I've read, and this one is no different!
With little fairytale hints, a psychopathic villain, 3 sexy and awesome guys, and a beautiful island backdrop, this made for an endearing, fun read that kept me firmly glued to my chair. I loved the relationship between Belle and the guys. The threat and danger (plus the plot twists!) from Mal were definitely enough to keep me turning the pages.
Can't wait to see what Ruby has in store for us next! ❤

Great Read
Book was a great read if you’re looking for fast pace and extremely suspenseful. I did not see the ending coming when *he* finally showed up. Belle broke my heart due to what she had to go through whenever *he* came near her and how she felt she had to push everyone away. The guys were great as well especially when pushing to bring her walls down.
The only thing I would of liked is more character development at the beginning. Other than that I truly recommend this book.

Wow, what a plot!!
This book is gonna suck the life out of you in every good way.
Nothing, absolutely nothing what I was expecting. The construction of the story was super well written and the characters were so strong and intriguing.
The dialogue was unbelievably smart. Their personalities were very original, the humor was extremely mature and the threats were my favorite. Ruby nailed with this one!

My first book from the author. This was different, but a good read.
I enjoyed the twists of the story. Did not see some of them coming.
For a RH it was relatively short but not so short that it felt too rushed. I liked that the book was not 90% sexy scenes (as is the case with most RH) or that it's a group play. I liked that it was more a one-to-one relationship between the characters.
Fairy tale twists and all it was not too sappy etc. Balance was perfect. Little bit of everything and not too much of one thing. I also liked the different POV's from the different characters.

Yes! I love Ruby Vincent’s Writing So Much!!!
Oh my gosh, this was so fun. Nathan, Preston and Carter will have you wanting to read faster but also never wanting to put the book down. I loved how each guy had their own storyline with Belle so she really could be with them. I loved all the guys, but something about Nathan made me wishing for him to be on ever page. I love Ruby’s writing so much. This is an awesome must read.

A strong female
Sometimes the strong females are too much to compensate in some books. Compensate for what? I don’t know. This book, however, had a wonderful strong female while being funny without combatively snarky. She knew she was beautiful without vanity and she was sassy with being a B.
Then the men… so lovable. The parents reasons were understandable and realistic. The villain was a surprise.
Just through and through a phenomenal read.

Ruby did it again.
If I could spend forever drowning in her words and stories, I'd be a happy woman. I downloaded this book a few weeks ago and finally buckled down for the ride, and my, what a ride it was. So damn good, something to read and re-read when that moment strikes. Lies, secrets, love, and a summer to change it all. Absolutely wonderful and that epilogue was beautiful.

Great read
This was a good book. I love all of Ruby's books but the characters in this one were mature and that took it to a whole new level. A good storyline. I would have liked for this to have been a series though so we could have gotten to know the characters better. I was not ready for it to end.

Page turning read
Admittedly, I had this book in my KU library for a few days before starting it and man that was a huge mistake on my part. Ruby Vincent did a spectacular job of keeping me on the edge of my seat and throwing a few plot twists in there that I didn’t even see coming.

This book surprised me. I usually love book series that are spread out in 3 or 4 books but honestly Ruby did such an amazing job with tying this all together without it feeling rushed. I loved the ending. Enjoyed the characters. Def another favorite by one of my favorite authors. Please come out with another series soon!!!

Ruby Vincent has become one of my most favourite writers. Her stories are phenomenal. I absolutely love this story with all of its twists and turns not letting us know the outcome until it was supposed to happen. I’m floored .... again. I cannot wait to read her next brilliant story.

Cracking Read
This is my first read if Ruby’s and it’s was great! I’d definitely pick up more of her reads after this 😀
It was gripping with plenty of backstory giving depth to the characters. The storyline was packed with drama, betrayal and secrets woven together to create a read I couldn’t put down!

Unexpected
Belle is totally and completely my girl crush, when I think of a character I'd read about over and over. It's belle. She's fierce and still has her insecurities that make her a well rounded woman. Oh y'all our heroes haha. They are yummy, and quite literally just the greatest.

Dang
Now, this was amazing. I've been in a reading slump for a while. This brought me out of it. Belle needed her Knight, Prince, and Preston. She just didn't know it till it was almost too late. These men did everything to protect her and finally changed her mind about fairytales.

I was not expecting this…based on the blurb. There was some scenes that some might consider cheating but didn’t really trip it for me and I am usually pretty sensitive to the subject. Maybe because there was more guys to offset it? Told from all POV. The story had some interesting twists and turns and I really enjoyed the epilogue.

I really enjoyed this standalone by Ruby Vincent! Perfect mix of suspense, angst, drama, and romance. I did not see that twist coming at the end regarding who her stalker was, but it was sooo good! Very happy and satisfied with the ending!
