For years, Troy has lived in the shadows as a Guardian. As part of this secret government taskforce, he has agreed to oversee the team’s base of operations on a remote private island in Maine, replacing fellow agent Ace and his wife, Kristi, for a year.
When Troy steps in to hold down the fort, however, he does not anticipate company. So when Kristi’s sister, Jocelyn, appears on the island, looking for a getaway, Troy is unnerved by her presence—hiding his top-secret work from the beautiful visitor is a recipe for disaster.
It’s been years since Jocelyn has been able to relax, and the family island is the clear antidote to the chaos of the business world. Expecting solitude, she is taken off guard by the presence of the handsome house sitter living in her sister’s home. Though she and Troy fall into an easy friendship, beneath his calm demeanor, he is an enigma. It’s clear the man who is quickly stealing her heart has a secret, but the truth is beyond Jocelyn’s wildest Troy is involved in stopping a political coup, and their relationship threatens to place Jocelyn squarely in the crosshairs of a deadly assassin.

What an incredible book! There are not many writers who can successfully guide a reader through a spectrum of emotions as vast and diverse as fear, hope, despair, courage, and love. But Traci Abramson is one of them. In Harm's Way's intricate and suspenseful plot is so gripping, the characters's emotional journey so natural and captivating, that the story sucks you in from the first page and doesn't let go until the last.
I only have one complaint about Traci Hunter Abramson’s books. That they have to end! Her books are some of my very favorites. She does a great job with her characters. And her plots that keep you glued to the pages. I loved that about this book.
This one features Troy, he’s a guardian. But most of the book he’s known as Ty, because he has to keep his true identity a secret. I loved how focused he gets on protecting everyone around him, especially Jocelyn. It was fun to see him have his own story, he was a supporting character in this author’s last book I read.
I liked Jocelyn. She is pretty stubborn and kept Troy on his toes through the whole book. I loved her curiosity. And her love of photography. She was planning to have a vacation of sorts on the island that Troy was living on. But him being there changed her plans a bit. And they changed even more later. Jocelyn had a clear head when there was danger, that’s always a good thing!
I loved the plot of this one. There is so much danger from the very beginning. This book kept my focus. I didn’t want to stop reading it!
This is one of those that I really think you need to read in order. If you haven’t read On the Run, for example, you’re going to be a bit confused as to what is being talked about some of the time.
I was sent a copy of In Harm’s Way as a gift from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
In Harm’s Way is another nail-biting ride by this talented author. Every morning I’d grumble in the fact I had to work, taking my time away from reading. The author does an incredible job of weaving some romance into this finely tuned mystery. I thoroughly enjoy the POV changes. I love getting in the heads of the bad guys. Each character is expertly written and I enjoyed being on the island again.
Books like this are why Traci Hunter Abramson is at the top of my list of favorite romantic suspense writers. Her stories always grab my attention right at the start and hold my interest until the end, which usually comes much too soon. This book was no exception, and I didn't want to stop reading to do such mundane things as cooking and laundry.
We met Guardian Troy (Ghost) in the previous book, On the Run and he's back with a new assignment. He's on an island in Maine thinking he'll be alone to do his job, until Jocelyn shows up. Jocelyn has sold her company and is looking forward to some long overdue downtime so she can figure out what she wants to do.
I love that we get to know more about Troy before he became a Guardian. It was great to see him in action and to watch his friendship with Jocelyn develop. Jocelyn is a great character--she's smart and knows Troy (know to her as Ty) is hiding something and kept wondering if she would figure it out, or confront him. I really like the different points of view (POV) in the book from Troy, Jocelyn and the bad guys. To me, mulitple POV make for a more interesting story. Oh, and I LOVE that we get to see more of the Whitmore's. The story is great, but as usual, I don't know how to say much about it without giving something away. I'll just say the suspense level is high.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher, Covenant Communications, but also bought a digital copy of the book for my personal library. All thoughts and opinions expressed in my review are my own.
All good things will be coming out of my mouth for this book. I really loved it but first can we talk about the cover? This publisher is so good at covers! Honestly, they have created some of my favorites and this book and series is an excellent example. This cover perfectly matches the content of the book and well, I just love it.
So now. The book.
I loved being back on the island off the coast of Maine, this time with Troy and Jocelyn. Everything in this book grew so well together. Friendship, plot, suspense. So many of the characters in this book are familiar to me from previous books in the series which gave it that feeling of community and family. It also means you really should read this series in order because you will love it so much more if you do.
The buildup in tension was great. I loved how my feelings grew as the story progressed. The ending was full on. I read finished right before going to bed and I had a hard time turning my brain off. It just wanted to think about the book! I even woke up thinking about it. I love when that happens.
This author is so good at this genre! One of my favorites.
Content: peril, violence, kissing, some Christian elements (talk of God, praying)
- I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
Traci Hunter Abramson knows how to keep your attention fully engaged in her storyline and it's characters! This book is no different. In fact, each of her books get better and better! It's going to be hard to wait 6 months or more to read the continuation of this story. Well done, Traci! Excellent storyline!!
Traci Hunter Abramson is a queen of romantic suspense. I have yet to find one of her books that don't suck me right into the storyline. Obviously, this book was no exception.
This book is part of a series but can be read as a stand-alone. It may take a minute or two to comprehend the "ghosts" and what they do. I think that all of the books should be read, whether or not in order.
Ty (Troy or Ghost) is living on a remote Island in Main when an unexpected house guest drops by. In spite of his best efforts, she doesn't leave.
Jocelyn needs a getaway to clear her head. Visiting her family's Island seems like the perfect escape. It would be if there wasn't a handsome recluse living in her family home.
You can see where this is going. A budding relationship based off of secrets! In many ways, there is humor as they dance around each other fighting a growing relationship. Ty's job as a ghost brings danger to the island, making for some pretty tricky and terrifying moments.
You don't want to miss this installment of the series. It will keep you up at night reading and bring out a desire for more stories!

This is a five star read all the way. This was a perfect follow up to On The Run and the rest of the Guardians Series. Is it possible that Traci Hunter Abramson's books just keep getting better.
Troy and Jocelyn have a bit of a rough start due to a misunderstanding of occupancy, but as they learn to coexist and face the coming threats, they show a fantastic chemistry that leaves the reader eager for all that happens next.
The interwoven mysteries and addition of loved characters from previous books adds a richness that keeps the reader completely engaged. I read this in one sitting, I was not going to bed before this one was over. So reader beware, do not start this at bedtime, you will wonder where the time went and you will be feeling it the next day. That being said, any book hangover is totally worth it here.
As the story progresses you will get answers in the over arching story, but more questions will be posed. Anxiously awaiting the next installment in the Guardians Series.
I received an ARC from the publisher and this is my honest review.
Wow! Wow! Wow! This book was fantastic! Everything I have come to love in a story written by Traci Hunter Abramson was found within this book and then some. I was completely hooked from the very beginning. It was so neat to finally see more of Troy's character and understand his back story (which was not what I was expecting for how he came to be a Guardian by the way). I loved Jocelyn. She was stubborn, determined and maybe just a little annoying when she ignorantly fought Troy when it came to picture taking, but honestly, all these traits just made her that much more dynamic of a character. Their romance was sweet and I really enjoyed watching it grow. Fans of Abramson's books will be super excited for Jim Whitmore to have a POV in this story. Not going to lie, the storyline with him and Katherine was INTENSE. I may have cried actual tears, but fear not, the ending is so so good! The pace was spot on, the setting worked so well for everything that was happening, and the overall dialogue and movement just worked for me. This may be my favorite book in the Guardian series so far which is saying something. A definite ten star read, I can't wait to read this one again and for what's next to come. I received an advance reader copy of this novel. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Content is clean and while action packed, there is no inappropriate language nor gore.
Another great addition to the Guardian series. Troy and Jocelyn were fun characters, and it was great to see Ace in action for a bit in this one too. All I can say is--those poor Whitmores! I was pleased with the resolution of an ongoing storyline.
I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator did a great job as usual.
Once again, Traci has a book that I got through way too fast. I have already started going through it again to reread my favorite parts or to experience it more because I didn't want it to end. There is a moment in th book that you hope for the whole time, and when it finally does, it is all I could have asked for. Cannot wait for the rest of her upcoming releases this year.
Back on Heritage Island on the coast of Maine, so naturally I settled into this book, because Sanctuary has been my favorite so far.
Troy & Jocelyn are two great characters that were easy to love. You’ll be rooting for them from the start, and the Whitmore’s are the well-loved political couple that have been a long since the start. Considering the crazy state of affairs in real-life government these past years, it sadly isn’t so far-fetched anymore to read these kind of plot lines in a book. Well written and detailed, there’s enough intensity and action as the story develops.
WOW! Just WOW! I’ve always been a big fan of Traci Hunter Abramson books, but this one is on a new level of awesome! Hands down, this is my favorite book from her Guardian series. I loved the political intrigue and seeing characters from her other series. (Don’t fret if you haven’t read them all. This could be read as a stand alone, but I recommend reading them in order). The pacing of this book is superb and I couldn’t put it down. I really appreciate a suspenseful book without the gore. This book deals a lot with assassins and it never pushed me past my limits of described violence. The romance is a slow and steady pace and was absolutely perfect and true to Troy and Jocelyn’s characters! I really can’t say enough good things about this one!
I would recommend this book for anyone in the mood to read a fast paced suspense with a touch of romance! You can’t go wrong picking this book up! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I love reading the Guardian series! Troy is a Guardian, watching over the island command post while its owner is in Europe to hide her pregnancy from her family. But her sister Jocelyn shows up unannounced and refuses to leave while she figures out what's next for her life. Troy and Jocelyn begins as reluctant friends, but circumstances start to force them together more often. When Russian operatives start assassinating potential threats to their candidate's run for the White House, Troy is called into action, leaving Jocelyn to doubt her favorable impressions of the security expert. When the assassin sets his sights on the Whitmores, Troy, Jocelyn, and the Guardians must do all they can to ensure the survival of them all. A fun read with plenty of intrigue and romance. And a healthy dose of faith and inspiration along the way in their drive to protect each other and the country itself. And thanks to the sneak peek chapter of Redemption at the end, I'm waiting impatiently for the next one!
Abramson does it again! Every time I pick up a new Guardian book, I feel like it's a family reunion. I enjoy reacquainting myself with all of the old characters while getting to know the new ones. This particular story had the added bonus of not only being set on a beautiful, rugged island (well, I picture it as being absolutely beautiful...) but the main character, Jocelyn, is in to photography, something I also love. I enjoy having those little things that help me relate to a character better.
Several of the regulars were back in play throughout this story - Kade, Ace, Renee, Kristi, and the Whitmore's, of course. When I get to know a character in a previous story, it's always nice to have them show up in future books. I miss them!
This story had the perfect amount of suspense and romance. Definitely one that was hard to put down. I highly recommend it.
This is a great read! Not my usual genres, but I loved it. It is the 5th book in the series, but can stand alone. It is the first book I have read in this guardian series and I am dying to read the others. Suspense, espionage, romance... all set in beautiful New England. The characters are interesting, intense and intelligent. The author has experience and has researched enough to make it believable. Jim Whitmore for President!!
Abramson's last "Guardian" novel, On the Run, was truly worthy of its name--nonstop action that barely gave the reader a moment to breathe. In Harm's Way builds more slowly, which I like better--it gives more time for character development and backstory. There are certainly moments of action and I enjoyed the look into the investigative processes and other ways and means of the Guardians, as well as getting to know the protagonists well before the climactic scenes, which are every bit as exciting as they should be. Then things are wound up satisfactorily. Abramson has created a genius concept in the idea of the Guardians--I wish there really were such people protecting our country's assets and others in need, with the resources and integrity they have, as well as more politicians like Senator James Whitmore (there are a few). I always drop everything else I'm reading to read Traci Hunter Abramson's books as soon as they are released; write on, Traci!
Traci has done it again. An amazing story that keeps you reading to find out what happens next. Her characters are like friends and you can’t wait hear their stories. The Guardian’s are full of intrigue and excitement. And you’re always left wanting more of their stories.
Another great book by Abramson. She knows how to write thrilling stories that are a fun break from daily worries! Can’t wait until the next one comes out.
I loved this book. It has action, adventure, and a little romance too. I loved meeting new characters and revisiting with ones from previous books. One great thing is you can read this without having read the other books in the series and still have a great story. Great job, Traci!
This is a great book! I enjoyed the characters and the development of their relationship. The plot moved quickly and kept my interest, and I'd definitely recommend this book and this series.
This new installment in The Guardian series was everything I wanted and more! It never ceases to amaze me how Abramson’s stories are flawless and I never want to put them down. Never. In Harm’s Way is no exception. Troy’s story drew me in and held me there the entire time. When I was down to the last few pages I kept wondering how it could already be over. I could have read a few hundred more pages! Abramson puts together a story full of action, suspense, mystery, intrigue, and just the right amount of romance! If you have not read The Guardian series then you need to remedy that right now! Run to your nearest bookstore or one-click in a hurry! This series is on fire! I received a copy of this book for free; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
In Harms Way is entertaining and filled with non-stop suspense. From the first page to the last I was captivated by the characters, especially Jocelyn who arrives on the island at her sister's place, only to find a man living there. Her getaway becomes so much more.
Jocelyn is trying to relax. Troy, who is part of a secret task force is challenged with carrying on his duties while trying to keep his activities secret. I enjoyed the playful banter between the two, their budding romance, and the ever-changing set of circumstances.
The evolving storyline fraught with danger, kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. Highly recommended.
I won this book in a contest and voluntarily choose to review it. All opinions are my own.
I could read a hundred of abramson’s novels about the guardians or navy seals and still want more! They are engaging and entertaining with a little sprinkle of clean romance that gets me hooked every time!
Once again the author managed to keep me up way past my bedtime to finish this book. Such a great read. HOWEVER, I'm not happy with the little excerpt of her next book at the end. NOW I'm dying to read that one and it hasn't been released yet!
