"Age does not define you"

In this refreshing new book, Dr. Ortigara Crego places a positive spin on aging, and reassures the reader that “age does not define you.”

Using her own personal life examples as well as those from the patients she treats, she shows us how to approach this last act of our lives. I'm impressed by her stark honesty in admitting challenges of her own. This adds much credibility to the words she writes. I feel like she’s talking directly to me on these pages, like we are having a conversation.

Through real life anecdotes Dr, Lisa's words capture my interest as she proves that age is a mindset. I've read the previous books in this series, and like those books, she focuses on a balance of mind, body, and spirit. In this latest book, the emphasis is also on self-care, self-love, and "well years" rather than long years. It's a great way to confront aging in a positive light.

Filled with practical advice, and current, researched information, this book provides an extra element of enjoyment, with a touch of humor I've come to appreciate in this author's writing style. Something unique which I really enjoyed was her chapter on teaching the reader exactly how to use guided imagery to visualize positive actions to effect change. The process is a powerful one, and I had the sense Dr. Lisa was with me throughout.

I read this fascinating book in just two days, but it's one I will return to time and again. I highly recommend it.

In this remarkable book, Dr. Lisa Ortigara Crego, who is also on this journey of aging, gives us many facets to consider as we embark on our continued journey in life. Each chapter addresses some aspect of our cultural obsession with youth; our own attitudes, thoughts, and preconceptions about aging; and gives us practical examples of how people like ourselves have either overcome these hurdles or the consequences of continuing to hold on to unhealthy behaviors and beliefs. Each chapter also concludes with a section of Personal Inventory Questions which help the reader to review their own "take aways" from the ideas presented. It is what I consider to be a truly holistic approach to integrating the experiences of aging in a healthy and practical way, designed to allow us to enjoy the process instead of dreading it. I am hoping that it will be read by people of all ages, because I believe the lessons in it will help people to be present in the NOW. Aging is a gift that not everyone gets and I for one, appreciate that I have made it to my 60's and look forward to the adventures to come.
