Asa doesn’t know how this life became hers. The memories come and go so often, none of it makes sense to her. She remembers the accident, and being found, but the rest of her world is pure darkness. She isn’t even sure if Asais her real name.
Things around her begin to send earth shaking memories back to her. She observes the scars, parts of her body having stories all their own, bringing pieces of darkness to light. Hearing certain names sends her into moments she never thought she would have to relive. Slowly, she begins to piece together the memories. Throughout all of her hardships, all the morbid run-ins, she soon learns exactly what she has to do to get all of her answers, and knows exactly where to start.
Life throws its most ghastly happenings into Asa’s life, but she won’t give up until she understands why. In the city that never sleeps, she plans on doing the same. The scars, the flashbacks, she needs answers
This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
**I received a free copy of this book from Voracious Readers Only in exchange for an honest review**
The first page of this book is a graphic account of an attack on a woman. She's held down at knife point and cut by a man with his hand on her mouth, who threatens her with how much he's going to enjoy hurting her. She begs him not to hurt her, and then she's bleeding. The very first page.
The description made this sound like it would be a good mystery. I did not expect this level of violence. The story itself is relentlessly dark.
This is not going to be for all tastes, and was definitely not for me.
I received this book from Voracious reader. This book is about demons. If you like to read about demons, this is a good book to read. A girl wakes up and she doesn't remember her name and she has strange symbols and writings on her body. For me this book was a little too long, but I had to know what happened to and what was going to happen to this girl. I thank the author for this experience.
