When the bad boy of the NHL, Zack Parker, lands himself in a public relations nightmare, his manager hatches a foolproof plan to get him out of trouble. With Zack’s hockey career in limbo, he reluctantly agrees to compete on a reality TV show called The Stars of Ballroom.
At the end of the day, Zack figures he’ll slog his way through the first week, get voted off and everyone will forget about his latest scandal, plus he’ll score a brand-new contract with the Vegas Royals.
What he doesn’t bank on is his tough, no-nonsense dance partner, Hannah Thorne from the UK. After missing the show last year due to an injury, Hannah is back and ready to battle it out to the end. She’s won the show twice and if she takes home the top prize again it will make her the only three-time champion of The Stars of Ballroom.
Hannah is a fighter and has zero patience for Zack and his bad-boy ways. Her future depends on this victory, and she’s willing to risk everything to win.
Rosemary is an actress, turned fitness instructor, turned author of romantic suspense.
She's told stories and entertained people her entire life. Writing is her favorite because she doesn't have to leave the house or put on pants! Plus, the voices in her head do what she says, for the most part!
She lives in Las Vegas with her husband, Bill and their adopted senior pooch, Brownie. She still teaches cycling classes. She claims they keep her sane-ish!
If you pick up one of her books you're in for a ride full of suspense, humor and page turning drama. Also, there will be a rescue dog for some extra tail wagging fun.
I love Rosemary Willhide books. This was a cute fun read. I will give it 4.5 stars I did find myself not being able to put it down.
Zack is a hockey player with a bad reputation. To fix up his image his manager signed him up for a celebrity dancing show. He was also forced to act like he was dating a actress Kelsey. Hannah was too nice to Kelsey so was Zack. Kelsey is a major manipulator who only cares about herself.
Hannah has been betrayed and cheated on before. She refuses to start something with Zack. She keeps telling herself you can't trust a badboy or a man whore. She couldn't stop the connection they were forming. As their dancing partnership grew their bond grew as well.
Thankful to recieve this book in a exchange of a honest review.
Get ready for Zack and Hannah. The NHL's bad boy Zack Parker is a player on the ice and off and he is about to be partnered with Hannah the bell of the ballroom for yes you guessed it The Stars of the Ballroom series. Zack has found himself in a public relations nightmare. He is in hot water for his actions and crude behavior. He is given the option to redeem himself and create a new image by being paired up with the dance floors sweetheart Hannah Thorne. Let me say that Hannah is sassy, hard working and will not stand by and be made a fool of by a not so willing partner. She has been burned before. You are either all in or get out. They certainly have chemistry on the floor and off but she will not be another notch in this players bedpost. Sit back and watch this couple dance into your hearts with their witty banter, off the charts sexual tension and so much drama to keep you on your toes! ~~Michele McMullen ~~
Power Play was such a fantastic fun read. I have read every one of Rosemary Willhide books and I love them all. This is really different from Mrs Willhide normal books in a good way. I loved the chemistry between Zack and Hannah Through all the ups and downs will they find each other? Kelsey is what my most Unlike characters. I can say this has a little bit of bad boys, excitement, action, suspense and romance. I highly recommend this book to everyone.
Here we meet Zack Parker who is considered the "bad boy" of the NHL. At the end of the hockey season, Zack is finding himself without a contract and is being told he needs to fix his image. His agent, Greg, finds out about an opening on the dance show. Greg tells him this is one of his two options. Zack can compete on the show, or he can go to rehab in California. No matter what, if he wants a new hockey contract, he needs to fix his image. If not, he's out of a job.
Zack is on the fence. He definitely doesn't want to go to rehab, as he truly doesn't see the need, but he also doesn't want to compete on the show. That is until Greg sets him up with "America's sweetheart", Kelsey Kennedy. This fake relationship has the potential to help Zack's image. So if he plays along, all will be great. Or will it?
Enter Hannah Thorne, the professional dancer that Zack has been partnered with. Hannah is determined to win this season, and this last minute partner change might make winning difficult. Once she receives news about her dance studio, she really needs to win! Can they work together? Will Zack ever take this seriously? Could they win the competition? Will Zack's image improve? Will he sign a new contract? Will the fake relationship be outed or will it become real?
If you like the tv show Dancing with the Stars, I think you'll really enjoy Power Play by Rosemary Willhide. I found myself being fully invested, and wanting to know what happens next. Which contestants would go home first? What about the next episode? Where would Zack and Hannah finish? Also, what is going on with Kelsey? She's hiding something, what is it?
*thank you Give Me Books for providing me with an ARC of this book, in exchange for a review. I was not required to provide a positive review. I truly enjoyed the story.
Zack is the bad boy of the NHL and to pay pence he is now doing a ballroom dancing show for 6 weeks to rehab his image. Hannah is coming back to be a 3x champ on the show after a fall. Zack and Hannah have a hate to friends to lovers relationship. Throw in some drama with past lovers of Zack's and show drama makes for good plot twists through out the book. Power Play is a cross of hockey with some dancing with the stars and it works seamlessly.
I can't remember the last time I read a good slow burn hockey romance and never one with the dancing twist which was brilliant. Power Play reminded me just how much I love them. It was fun, exciting and action packed. I absolutely fell in love with Hannah and Zack. The chemistry between them practically radiated from the pages.
I'll be recommending this book to my friends without a doubt. And will be checking out more of Rosemary Willhide's books.
Ok this book grabbed me at the first chapter! Bad boys are always full of intrigue! They pull you in! The slow burn romance keeps the suspense riding higher! A couple of twists take you shocking new directions! Love Harley and Brownie mentions! Thoroughly enjoyed it! I even teared up at one point! Great Book!!!!
Steamy, sexy, romance! Hannah and Zack have tons of chemistry, on and off the dance floor. I love to read anything based in my hometown of Las Vegas and hockey, so that made this one even more of a treat for me.
Rosemary Willhide gets a win with POWER PLAY. To revamp his image, NHL bad boy, Zack Parker, winds up on a reality TV show called The Stars of Ballroom. He plans on not taking the show seriously and getting voted off early, until he meets his dance partner, Hannah Thorne. This story is suitable for adult readers. It takes place in Las Vegas.
Rosemary Willhide does a great job with her plot and character development. Zach and Hannah are both likable characters. Zach goes through a rough time after his parent’s death, causing him to get in trouble. Things are put into perspective for him as he discovers more about Hannah admiring her for her strength and determination. The two have amazing chemistry and depth.
The plot was entertaining and thought-provoking. Zack’s fake girlfriend, actress Kelsey Kennedy, added interesting drama to the story. Add in, Hannah’s nemesis, fellow dancer Alexis Richards, and there was never a dull moment. I thought how everything fell into place was clever.
This is the first book that I have read by Rosemary Willhide. I enjoyed her writing style. I would not mind seeing a Vegas Royals hockey series. I recommend this book to people who enjoy hockey romances and dancing reality shows. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
4.5 Stars for Power Play This is the first book I have read by this author but it certainly won’t be the last, I loved everything about this book, I loved the characters, the story and this authors style of writing. Zack is the bad boy IG the NHL but when he gets himself into trouble this time his team insist on him making amends, changing his ways and that means competing on The Stars of Ballroom, a TV reality show. Zack thinks he will only have to go through the motions but he didn’t count on his new partner Hannah pushing him to the limits.... Hannah has won this show twice before and she has a third title on her mind so she will do whatever it takes to get Zack in shape he needs to be to win... This couple didn’t expect feelings to come into play when they started dancing and what follows is an entertaining read. The chemistry is sizzling, the banter is witty and I loved watching this couple fall in love as they got to know each other. This book touched me on so many levels, the writing is strong, the characters adorable and it was fun watching them fight the attraction they felt from the moment they met. Ms Willhide did a wonderful job with this fun, entertaining, hot read.
Zack is the bad boy NHL player whose latest stint is a public relations nightmare, and he needs to improve his image as his career is now in jeopardy, and his manger comes up with a couple of ways to do it. Now Zack is in a “fake” relationship with Kelsey who is America’s sweetheart, and has her own agenda, and in a reality TC show called “The Stars of Ballroom”. Hannah is tough and a past winner of the show a couple of times, and she is determined to win in this year, and Zack is her partner. These two have a love / hate relationship going on, and the chemistry between them is sizzling. Will Zack be able to redeem himself? This is a well written story which is filled with action, suspense, twists, drama, love, and is an entertaining and all-consuming read. I look forward to reading more from this author whose work I recommend.
I have mixed feelings about this book . It took me a long while to feel anything for these characters and even then I felt their chemistry was weak at best . But it was a light read , some angst but also a lot of predictability . Zack is a hockey player who has found himself in trouble after his party lifestyle has gotten messy . He’s roped into a fake relationship and a dance competition that he doesn’t want to be a part of . Hannah is the dance instructor - she sees zacks whoring ways (and he is ! His attitude at first stinks ) and tried to resist his charms but ultimately falls for them . This so where I struggled as there just wasn’t chemistry for a long time yet there was an attempt to create some . I think this story has a lot of potential but fell short for me unfortunately
Rosemary Willhide is a new author to me and I have no idea why I have not come across her before. From start to finish I was invested in Zack Parker and Hannah Thorne’s story. Zack is known as the bad boy of the NHL and when he finds himself in trouble yet again, he reluctantly agrees to compete on a reality television show, The Stars of Ballroom. What he doesn’t count on is his new partner Hannah, a previous winner, who has no plans to lose the competition; to save her dance studio, she needs to win. I really liked these characters, both separately and together. Initially I wasn't overly fond of Zack but he quickly redeemed himself. I really admired Hannah, she is strong, determined and feisty. The attraction and chemistry that sizzles between them is too much to ignore and when they give in, sparks fly. Power Play was a fun read that ticked the boxes for me. Can Zack and Hannah join forces and win the competition and along the way find a happiness that many never find? One click and find out.
OMG!!! This story was amazing!! I wish I could give it more than 5 stars!!! I'm a suckered for a slow burn romance, and this one totally sucked me in!! Zach; the bad boy hockey player; and Hannah; the good girl of dance; have sparks from the beginning but they don't see them. Eventually a lightening bolt strikes (not physically) and makes them see the light. This is the perfect story for a budding romance. Lots of energy and build-up make this story AMAZING!!! I honestly think this is a wonderful story and you won't be disappointed!!!
4 This was definitely a different kind of romance. I wasn’t expecting Zack to be how he was at all, but he redeemed himself close to halfway through. Hannah is the heroine most of us want to be. She’s sassy, determined, a fighter, and she’s real. Their chemistry is hot on and off the dance floor, but their fighting it felt right until it wasn’t. I thought the long term lingering drama was different for this book but it worked well. I’d recommend this HEA.
Dance, foreign character, teacher/student of dance, hockey player, forbidden, bad boy turned good, slow burn.

First, and foremost, the dedication go this book nearly brought me to my knees and most definitely had me in tears. You see, I too, like Rosemary, am a resident of Las Vegas and witnessed the hope, love and support that the Vegas Golden Knights brought to our community just after a terrible tragedy had struck us. It is hard to put into words just what they mean to Las Vegas, but she did so with her dedication. Thank you!
As for the book itself...🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. Hannah and Zack have all the chemistry, but can they overcome his bad boy of the NHL reputation? Get ready for steam, angst and humor. Go big or go home baby!

Go big or Go home, well you have defiantly gone Big
I am a massive fan of Rosemary's books and this one has just taken over as my favourite.
If you love the shows Dancing with stars and Strictly come dancing you will love this book, it is everything you could of imagined that is going on off camera.
This book has it all from the Bad boy of NHL, Reality TV Star, Comeback Dancer, Squeaky clean image athlete to back stabbing competitors.
This is a great read rosemary willhide it's an amazing author is a beautiful story line love Zach and Hannah you will love them too it's funny and sexy story.Rosemary took her writhing to the next level of you never read any of her books you should because she will not disappoint you she keeps going and once you start reading you will not want to put it down I guarantee it you will love it.
All I can say is wow!!!! This book has everything. Love, struggle and is comical. . Once again Rosemary has delivered yet another amazing book. I highly recommend reading this book and all her others.
It was nice watching Hannah and Zacks friendship develop the way it did, slow and gradual. It would have been so much better without all of his man whoring ways, a big turn off. To bad the author didn't leave out those parts. I did like the drama with Kelsey.
Overall I did enjoy the book especially after he got his head out of his ass.
Misunderstandings, miscommunication and characters who aggravate and annoy keep this story entertaining. A terrific story of redemption, love and happily ever afters!
Love love love the ballroom dancing reality show theme in this story! The drama with the “show” is so fun to read. Plenty of surprises for everyone. Zack needs to tame it down and Hannah could use some spice. They are perfect together!
Enjoyable read and my first from this author. Definitely would read about this world again. Easy read, low angst, hot scenes. Nice way to pass the time.
I'm not a huge fan of sports but I adore dancing, but in a book I'm a sucker for sports. This one has one of my favorite shows combined with an athlete.
We've got Zack who is a real arse, I really really didn't like him, he was thinking with his second head and it really was all he thought about. It wasn't till our British ballroom dancer Hannah got to peel away that annoying layer he became a sweet loving man everybody wants to keep.
Read this book for a fun sweet loving read and some backstage action and competition from a dancing TV show
This kept getting better as the story progressed. Zack and Hannah had chemistry and this definitely kept me turning the pages. Zack was your typical sports jock who had it all but always ended up on the wrong side of the news so as both a punishment and to save him from losing his career completely he is made to participate in a “Dancing with the stars” type program where he meets his partner Hannah. There were a few twists in this along the way and I loved every minute of this book!
Zack finds himself in a nightmare. He first has to "fake" a relationship with America's sweetheart Kelsey. Secondly, he has to join the dancing show with the possibility of redemption in his career. Hannah, his dancer, has her own agenda for wanting to win the dancing crown for the third time. Kelsey, has her own agenda as well. Needless to say, there are twists, and turns throughout the book. I really enjoyed reading adventure. It's is fun to read. I highly recommend it to everyone.
Zack Parker, bad boy of the NHL, may have finally gotten himself into a jam that might cost him his career. Is he willing or able to put the work in to save his career?
Enter his manager with an idea to save his career that had me laughing and shaking my head no!
Hannah Thorne might be able to help him, but Zack has to step out of his comfort zone. Can she tame him enough to help him, so in turn, he can also help her?
There were twists that I didn’t see coming. I loved how this story unfolded and how the relationship developed.
