So I read the blurb and thought this would be nice. Well they went insta from screaming to each other at their workplace to BJs in the office and then dramalama and instalove after 10 minutes. Puh.

I liked this book. It wasn’t exciting,but it was a nice story. I enjoyed the epilogue because it showed their relationship 12 years after they got together. That was a nice touch.

I wasn’t quite sure what to think when I first picked up this book, because while I loved Lucas, Sean was a complete twat from their very first shared scene. Fortunately, that didn’t last long and once Lucas and Sean gave into their attraction, the sparks flew, in a good way.
These guys fit great together well and while they are originally brought together through their shared love of wine, I was happy to watch them explore and learn that they had a lot more in common than just that.
The chemistry between them was out of this world and the sex was, well, the sex was hot and passionate, although at times it was fueled by their anger, but hey, angry sex is often hot sex! Haha
This was a light, fun and sexy read. The characters, for the most part, were likable and I couldn’t help but root for them to get their HEA.
Although there were a couple of times where the time frame of a scene change was a bit jarring, the story flowed well, and I absolutely LOVED the epilogue!
Very enjoyable and definitely recommendable!

When Sean and Lucas meet, it does not go well. While Sean is coming off of a truly bad day, he takes his frustrations out on Lucas and is fairly rude to the guy. Lucas rises to the bait and it’s not looking likely that the men will be able to work together, yet that doesn’t mean they can keep their hands off of each other.
The book is slow and quiet and while I can’t pinpoint something that I could say is wrong with it, it was not absorbing for me. I’m not sure if it was combining pieces that were originally written as installments into one book, but a lot of the story remained on the surface for me. They men start out not liking each other, but having chemistry, and I needed more of a bridge when they moved over to trying to start a relationship.

Corked is my first Brigham Vaughn book but it won't be my last.
The story is broken down into three parts and an epilogue, which show the growth of the relationship perfectly. I considered calling this enemies to lovers, but rejected that idea, because it's more antagonistic acquaintances to lovers. This does carry a May to December tag but I don't consider 11 years a sufficient age gap for that label. I do like that they are an older pairing, Lucas is 31, while Sean is 42.
This story starts with sparks flying every time they meet, and they put that fire to good use with some sizzling hot sex scenes. There seemed to be a couple of sex scenes per segment but I never found them to be too much as they were nicely balanced by the development of the relationship. The relationship doesn't come too easily as both men have baggage, especially Sean, whose been left insecure from a previous relationship. Despite that I found this book to be light on the angst.
The background of wine and wine tasting was excellently done, weaved seamlessly into the narrative, and though I know nothing of wine, I believed every word the characters revealed on the subject.
The characters are both pretty adorable, although occasionally I wanted to shake Sean and his insecurities. The epilogue is perfect. I mean completely, wonderfully perfect.

Wonderful, charming and scorching hot.

The quote above describes the story and the characters in it just about perfectly. The first time Sean and Lucas come face to face is antagonistic to say the least. The two men butt heads from the get go but yet…privately neither can deny he’s attracted to the other man.
And so a very interesting and extremely hot journey commences. Sure, Sean has his doubts from the start, because he’s more than ten years older than Lucas and because he’s been burned badly during his last relationship, but their mutual attraction combined with Lucas’s confidence, slowly but surely chip away at his resistance.
There was so much to love about this story. I enjoyed the sparring between these two men as much as I loved the scorching hot connection between them. The story is easy to read; fluidly written and beautifully told, I easily lost myself in the words. A special mention should be made for the clever and appropriate use of wine-lore. It tied into what was going on in the story perfectly and somehow made wine a third main character, both in the story and in the relationship. And, if you are interested in wine, you might well pick up one or two tips and insights while enjoying a most wonderful and very steamy romance.
If you enjoy your romance with a touch of angry sex, mild angst and a most charming attack of jealousy you’re sure to enjoy this wonderful and uplifting story.

I loved this story. A novella but with all the impact of a full-length novel. It grabbed me from the first page and didn’t let go. Beautifully written, nicely flowing, three-dimensional characters, full of fun, steam, and sweetness. The story has a full-bodied palate with a heartwarming aftertaste.
It might be hate at first sight for Lucas and Sean, but oh boy, the sparks were flying. Once the bottle is uncorked, the sexual tension is popping out, and they can’t help sipping and tasting.
Sean is the wine distributor of Bistro Argent, owned by chef and good friend, Richard. He is not beyond matchmaking him with Lucas, the new sommelier. There is more than wine and sex that connect them. They can talk about anything and are just comfortable together. I loved the banter and the winery sexual innuendos. A vinology of their own making.
Lucas is full in and not looking for an easy, one-time hookup. He wants to see where it takes them. Sean has his doubts as he has been seriously hurt before, and he thinks the eleven years between them is a hindrance. But he is no match for Lucas’s confidence and attraction. Slowly, without pushing but with determination and an understanding and caring heart, Lucas tears down the walls around Sean’s heart. He knows that the best wine is made with the best ingredients and time.

I really took an early dislike for Sean, who was foul tempered and blaming everybody for the bad day he was having, sneering and insulting Lucas and then walking away telling himself Lucia was the problem. Things only went on in that same thread the next time they met and I thought I was done with him. But, of course, things improved, well they had to didn't, otherwise we'd have no story. Turns out Sean is rather sweet, slightly insecure, and doesn't believe he's much of a catch, he can't believe this gorgeous man is interested in him, along with a past 'no so nice' boyfriend, his self esteem is pretty low when it comes to dating. But Lucas takes charges and things get hot, heavy, and awfully sexy pretty quickly. A wonderfully sweet read, barely any angst, just two men falling deeply for each other. As they are in the winery business that took up a big part of the story, I enjoy wine very much and like to try different ones but I'm no expert by any means, all the same it was very interesting to read, the wine tasting they went to and the vineyards, it was all fascinating, great stuff.

It took a bit for me to fall in love with this story for a couple of reasons. Firstly, Sean was horrible at the beginning and I wasn't thrilled with how quickly they jumped into bed together. Secondly, the amount of sex in the first 50% or so felt like too much (personal preference). I would have been happier with more of the guys romancing each other because there was definitely more to them than just sex at every turn. As the story settled in I began to really love it though.

This is a fast-paced, low-angst, age-gap story with interesting characters and an entertaining plot. Sean and Lucas have a hot I-don't-like-you-but-I-want-you relationship after they first meet. I didn't really care about Sean at the beginning and it was a bit of a chore to read certain scenes with him, I just wanted to slap him good.
After a while, though, the story picked up and the chemistry between them, their talks and the time they spend together make it the more alluring with some great moments. And the epilogue was fantastic.
I enjoyed this book very much, it is a sweet and quick read.

I liked this book. It effectively mixes romance, angst, tension and above all, food and wine! Lucas is a very likable and sweet character; however, Sean took a long time to warm up to. He is very judgemental at the beginning of the book, almost to the point of overkill. Demons from Sean's past have left scars and causes him to overthink and think the worst of people who don't really deserve it. The progression of Lucas and Sean's relationship was nice to witness, but sometimes I felt like they were connected on just a physical level and not so much on an emotional level. The writing flowed nicely and set a good pace for the story to unfold.
All in all, this was an enjoyable read that I would recommend to others.

Must admit that when I first started reading this, I wasn't sure whether or not I was going to like it. I immediately disliked Sean from the go, he was thoroughly obnoxious. Lucas, on the other hand, I loved.
However, once they sorted themselves out, they were great together. This is such a charming story, the couple bond over their love of wine, but find that they have so much more in common. They had great chemistry, when they got together they positively sizzled.
Overall, this was a funny and romantic story, with great banter. The guys were so well matched and the epilogue is epic. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Oh my gosh, these boys ... They are so adorable. What begins as a fiery first meeting turns into a scorching first kiss for Sean and Lucas, two men who begrudgingly now must work together. I adored their banter, and the sex (the sex!!!) was super hot. Watching these short-tempered cuties fall in love was so much fun! A hot, happy read :)

My love of wine made this an especially fun book to read. From wine snobs to just wine appreciation this book has something for everyone. The love story is well intertwined with the wine tasting and enjoyment. Lucas and Sean are both funny and romantic along with a spark that keeps everything hopping in their lives. The epilogue shows what happens when you find you match in life and work together to build that life. Well writtem charming characters and an enchanting book.

Man did these two start out on the wrong foot but eventually got past their initial hostility. Lucas wants to prove himself in his new dream job and Sean rubs him the wrong way at their first meeting. Sean is really good at making assumptions and he makes some of the wrong ones immediately.
I liked seeing these two navigate the portions of their relationship we were shown. Once they actually sat and talked like adults they found out common interests and goals. I liked that we got to see them get together, after they have settled a bit into the relationship and in the future when they are getting their HEA. Though these are separated into separate stories they flow together with only some time gaps in between.
I liked both of these characters, while they could seem a bit self-important at times they really have some deep insecurities and want someone to love them. Lucas works hard to show Sean how important he is to him. Sean has trouble voicing his feelings without any hostility and needs some reassurance and though they can push each other’s buttons make each other happy.
I really like the cover art and the visuals of the characters in their elements.

I really enjoyed this series although I am glad that I read it when it was already released, I don't think I would have liked waiting between books. I loved the way Ms. Vaughn wound wine culture throughout the stories.
Spit or Swallow is all about instant attraction and how anger can be the other side of that coin. The connection between Sean and Spencer is hot and sharp from the beginning which leads them to some questionable decisions that we get the pleasure of reading about.
Aftertaste is the story of how each man realizes that maybe the risk to their futures and hearts is worth the pay off in the end.
Finish is the happy ending to the question of whether Sean and Spencer will recognize that their connection is meant to last.

Premise of the book is Sean works for a wine, beer and liquor distribution company. Lucas is the newly hired sommelier at Argent Bistro, replacing Roger, Sean’s friend through business. Lucas and Sean immediately butt heads through assumptions, and a potential friendship has a very rocky start.
I did not like the first third of this book. It rubbed me wrong on so many levels - I don’t care if you are having the worst possible day ever, you do not treat someone you just met with as much distain and disrespect as Sean did to Lucas. I don’t care for the “I despise you! Yet…I want to screw your brains out…” mentality. It just doesn’t work for me emotionally. And if I have a water leak coming through my ceiling and I go to tell the upstairs neighbor, I’m going to be more worried about water damage and structural integrity to my ceiling than how someone looks in a towel. Just sayin’.
The first quarter to third of the book felt so disjointed to me, between the love/hate Sean and Lucas had going on, to the strange ogling, the impromptu sex in the office during working hours with “oh! I’m sorry! I don’t do that!” apologies that followed.
Baths. I asked my husband his thoughts on taking baths and I mostly perplexed him. First, he wondered if anyone takes baths anymore, then he opined that guys really don’t take baths. Add to this the whole getting out of the bath to answer your cell phone struck me as weird. That’s what voicemail is for.
But I made it through without throwing my e-reader across the room in abject irritation. Mostly because I didn’t want to have to buy a new e-reader.
The second half of the book was more of what I enjoy in my m/m romances. The getting to know a person, a bit of angst, and learning a partner’s moods. I loved the trip to Traverse City, the description of the bay and peninsula’s. I loved how Sean and Lucas interacted, the undercurrent of fear of being a couple in a tourist town, and the wine tours. I loved the smattering of wine observations through-out the book and now I need to go try a sangoviese with a pepperoni pizza. Would it work with an adoullie sausage pizza too? Hmm…
I also enjoyed how the book was set up in wine chapters, which I assume were from the shorts? “Spit or Swallow”, “After Taste”, “Last Drop” – all had me smiling.
So a rough start that eventually smoothed out and a very enjoyable ending. I say if you like your wine, good looking guys, and need something for a rainy day, this might fit the bill.

When Lucas and Sean first meet, they get off to a bad start. Honestly, at this point, Sean was a complete jerk. He was attracted to Lucas but treated him like a complete ass.
As they work together, and their paths cross more and more, the chemistry explodes. And as their relationship develops, they find that they have much in common besides their love of wine. They are both homebodies and enjoy the same things and their relationship develops quickly. This part of the story was very sweet. The getting to discover each other part of their process had me changing my feelings towards Sean. He really was able to redeem himself.
The light angst was just the right amount. They definitely were apprehensive to be openly gay in this tourist town. I enjoyed the age difference (11 years) as it added to the angst, as Lucas couldn't believe that Sean's feelings towards him could be real.
I am not a wine person, but I have read enough about wine to be able to appreciate the wine moments. Everything seemed realist and believable. I enjoyed how the wine and wine testing was weaved throughout the story.
I definitely enjoyed their hot chemistry and loved the way their relationship developed so naturally. Both men ended up being likeable and sweet in the end. And the epilogue was a perfect ending!
Overall, I found the story to be well written and well developed. It was a fun and hot read.

Sean Powell and Lucas Spencer both work in the wine industry. Sean is a wine distributor, Lucas is an accomplished sommelier. Their first encounter is disastrous. Sean is having a bad day, and the beautiful boy who claims to be the new sommelier in Bristo Argent just rubs him the wrong way. But all that tension soon turns into passion between these two, and after working out some of Sean’s insecurities they prove perfect for each other…
This short story manages to gather together some of the things I love most. A sort of enemies to lovers (only at the beginning), an age gap (ten years separate Sean and Lucas) and good wine. We witness how this relationship is born, blooms and settles into maturity, the way a good wine does. After a hazardous start, there is a bit of uncertainty and anguish about what it may become, to settle beautifully into a sweet romance.

This was an exceptionally cute read. I loved the back story of them being wine fanatics (who doesn’t love wine?) that made it stand out against other stories in the genre. Sean was a bit of a tool when he first met Lucas after having had a bad day to then find out his favourite sommelier had retired and now a “pretty boy” was there as his replacement. Despite Sean’s behaviour, the two of them end up combusting from the sexual tension and it was greatly written so that you could feel the shift in their behaviours and feelings. I loved the minor character of Richard (who owned the restaurant) and he definitely stole some of the scenes with his comedic lines. This was a great, quick read that I couldn’t put down once I started. This was my first novel by Vaughn but it definitely won’t be my last!

Corked is a fast paced, easy read. While it is most definitely instalust, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is not instalove. I did find it a stretch to believe how quickly this pair fell all over each other, but sparks fly in the heat of the moment and it just kind of works for them. There are some disagreements between Lucas and Sean, but it's done in a way that is more amusing than angsty, making for a fun, feel good read.

A sweet and endearing romance that is a quick and short read. Great storyline that captivated me right from the beginning and kept me entertained all the way through. Sean and Lucas are scorching hot together. Their first meeting is explosive and watching them develop from there is fascinating. I really like how Lucas helps Sean work through his insecurities and is very patient with him.

This is a great re-working of the original "Wine Tasting Series." I loved all the new content, especially the epilogue. I adore Sean and Lucas. They are so personable. I was so happy to revisit with the characters, including Richard, the owner of the Bistro Argent and Sean's friend. The chemistry that develops from the very first meeting between Sean and Lucas is scorching hot.

December 16, 2020Think I read the original book one/first part before, maybe an anthology or something. I just don’t like the spurious enemies to lovers scenario when it’s only Sean being an asshole and angry insta-lust, insta-sex. Puts me off, no interest.

so sex.. adorable and funny... it was so cute.. the characters are just so cute.. i loved their plot.. i laughed and felt with them their emotions. the writing was awesome.

Who loves wine and steamy enemies to lovers? This one's for you! Lucas is the new sommelier at the restaurant Bistro Argent. He's young for a sommelier at 31, but he's well educated and trained in wine. When he meets the restaurant's wine distributor, Sean, both of them feel immediate attraction. However, Sean didn't know the previous sommelier retired and he was having an awful day when he meets Lucas, so he handles it poorly and tells him he's too young for the job and he can't believe the chef hired a pretty boy who doesn't know anything about wine. So many snap judgments, Sean!
Lucas can't help his own immediate attraction to Sean, who is exactly his type despite Sean being 11 years older and a bit of an asshole during their first meeting. They have heated arguments from the start, but they also can't ignore their desires. This is a super fast burn physically, but way slower when it comes to actually saying their feelings out loud. If you enjoy seeing characters argue as foreplay, you'll absolutely adore this one!
🔥: Steamy from the start! These two are insatiable and we get some spicy quick- to medium-paced scenes with plenty of details.
😆: Didn't LOL with this one, but it made me smile plenty. These two are so silly and there's definitely some denial between them!
😭: No tears, but there are some tough moments for the characters dealing with their feelings.
This book may make you crave wine, or even attend some classes on wine! Such a sweet read with lots of passion!

With the horrendous day Sean Powell was having he was at least looking forward to ending it with a little chat with his friend and sommelier at Bistro Argent as they talked over the wine order, what he wasn't expecting was to discover his friend had retired and in his place was the young new sommelier Lucas Spencer. Lucas is hoping to update the wine list at the restaraunt but his first meeting with the distributer doesn't go as he planned. When Sean and Lucas can't deny their attraction any more will their love of wine be enough to build something lasting?
First and foremost, I have to admit to you all that I really hate wine. Perhaps "hate" is a bit strong but I'd rather have a Tom Collins with my meal than a glass of wine. Now, you don't have to enjoy wine to enjoy Corked but I think it speaks to the talent of the author when one of the characters(and yes I feel the wine is such a factor to the story that its a character all on its own) is not liked and the reader is still enthralled.
Speaking of characters, the chemistry between Sean and Lucas is immediate but the boys don't make it easy. As for Sean, well some probably take an instant dislike to him but as someone who has had the horrendous kind of day that he had I can understand his gruff attitude. Lucas is adorable, there's just no better way to describe him, he is simply and completely adorable. Their passion may light up the page but its their inner thoughts that give Corked its heart. Not everyone likes alternating POVs but personally, I love them. Being able to see inside each character's soul just makes the story more realistic and emotional for me, it helps me connect to them.
I read Sean and Lucas' journey in its original novella form Wine Tasting Series and I loved it, the tweaking and additions Brigham Vaughn has made as she released it in one story, Corked, has only made it even better. Some times when an author or director adds material to their original work it really only clutters the story but not this time. If you loved their journey in the original series you will be head over heels with this version and if you never experienced Wine Tasting Series than you are in for a real treat.

Such a beautiful conclusion to this amazing novella trilogy.

I just wasn’t terribly impressed with this. I found it to be rather repetitive and contrived. Sean got off to a bad start with all his ridiculously false claims about Lucas, especially when he was the one to start up with Lucas. Yeah, it was sweet and all that their relationship got off the ground, but the story was so devoid of any genuine conflict or angst that I was too bored to care.
