A thought provocative read. However, most stories in the book would be repetitive for most nonfiction readers. But I would surely recommend this very easy to read book to the youngsters and beginners.

This book greatly focuses on soft skills to enhance our lives on the path to success. Currently, we are going through a lot of inevitable changes, and we never know which chord hits the right string and helps us achieve what we aspire to.

In this book, the author has shared invaluable insights regarding the hidden skills that we hardly shed light on. These skills play a vital role in improving our orientation towards achieving goals and making a better life.

Through numerous shared anecdotes from different walks of life, he has proved how these nine skills are important. These are:

1. The Power of Observation
2. The Power of Connecting the Dots
3. The Power of Purpose
4. The Power of Dreams
5. The Power of Empathy
6. The Power of Out-of-the-box Thinking
7. The Power of Perseverance
8. The Power of Deep Drive
9. The Power of Prediction

These soft but effective power skills have shaped the world in various ways, which is also happening at this current moment. They are crucial and driven by the purpose of learning and applying these skills in our day-to-day life activities.

The book offers a unique perspective on these skills, which is quite humongous in characters.

The book also shares how these skills have played a prominent role in shaping historical events, the economy, and other global events that impact a whole mass of the population.

These are the skills that regenerate curiosity, which has led to the invention of great objectives.

✨I would love to recommend this book to everyone who wants to learn and apply the efficacy of soft skills to upgrade their life.

I loved the book as the tone of it was very original!

Manoj explains the powerful concepts of purpose, persistence, deep analysis, predicting future and 5 more things with examples on them.

The only issue which I found was that he explained everything through stories rather than statistics. Stories provide emotional charge and are often created after the events have occured considering only few parameters which people want to listen. He did give a handful of faulty conclusions due to incomplete sample set due to availability bias at the end. Most people love stories though!

Around 30% through the book, he explains incredibly unexpected cause and effects in ecological systems which was amazing!

The Power of Ignored Skills focuses on skills and abilities that play a significant role in an individual's success in their endeavours (job, startup, or business).

It describes nine such skills, and the author provides examples and illustrations to support their claims.

The only underwhelming aspect of the book is its lack of guidance on how to develop these skills.

Nevertheless, the examples help readers understand the importance and power of these nine ignored skills.

Short, succinct, and sweet, the book highlights how certain skills are fundamental to any form of success. These 9 skills are divided across the chapters as:

1. Power of observation
2. Power of connecting the dots
3. Power of communication
4. Power of purpose
5. Power of dreams
6. Power of out of the box thinking
7. Power of perseverance
8. Power of deep diving
9. Power of prediction

Each chapter is pre-faced with a quote and a definition of the related terminology of what the author will be discussing. Tripathi then pulls examples of famous figures to solidify his point.

Though the book was well-written and jam packed with fun trivia, there wasn’t any skills discussed that wasn’t obviously needed for success. Tripathi explains why the selected skills are important, but how one can cultivate or develop these skills were lacking. Additionally, I felt that the cherry-picking of famous successful figures was deeply unrelatable for the targeted audience; there was a lack of empirical data to support the laymen or average folks’s success rates when applying aforementioned skills— giving a clear reporting bias to the author’s claim. Lastly, the heavy bias to all things related to India— from discussing the geopolitics, history, and culture— made the book a bit confusing at times. For example, the author uses the sport cricket for multiple of his examples, but he assumes that the audience knows the players, history, and these technical jargons related to the game.

"Power of Ignored Skills" is a compelling and thought-provoking book that sheds light on the hidden potential of overlooked abilities.

With a concise yet impactful writing style, the book challenges the conventional notions of success and encourages readers to explore their untapped talents.

Through engaging anecdotes and insightful examples, the author showcases how seemingly insignificant skills can have a profound impact on personal growth, professional success, and overall well-being.

The book is well-researched, incorporating a range of case studies and expert opinions to support its claims. It not only highlights the power of ignored skills but also provides practical strategies for individuals to identify, develop, and leverage these abilities to their advantage.

While the brevity of the review limits a comprehensive analysis, it is evident that "Power of Ignored Skills" is an empowering and enlightening read. It challenges readers to embrace their unique strengths and invites them to reimagine the definition of success in a world that often overlooks the extraordinary potential hidden within ordinary skills.

I wasn't a great self-help book, but it was definitely an amazing read due to it's stories anecdotes.
It discusses nine skills that are overlooked. Those skills are Observation, Connecting the dots, Communication, Purpose, Dreams, Out-of-the-box Thinking, Perseverance, Deep Dive and Prediction.

It also shared how these skills have played a prominent role in shaping historical events, the economy and other global events that impact a whole mass of population.

I felt that the book didn't go far enough into the subject related to self-help.

It was an easy read and served as a good reminder to keep working on some fundamental skills while also entertaining you with it's stories and anecdotes. It's a pretty wonderful book if you approach it from the standpoint of fantastic anecdotes, but I think things could have been explained on a deeper level.

The book's tone was very unique, and I really enjoyed it!
Manoj uses examples to clarify the important ideas of goal, perseverance, in-depth study, future prediction, and five other things.
He explained everything using anecdotes rather than facts, which was the only drawback I could see. Stories elicit strong emotions, and they're frequently written after the fact while taking only a few factors into consideration that audiences find interesting. At the end, he did offer a few incorrect conclusions as a result of a sample size that was too small or availability bias. however, stories are very popular.
He explains really surprising causes and effects in ecological systems about halfway through the book, which is incredible!

It takes a lot for any book to get my attention and especially if it is about soft skills. Manoj's book didn't only catch my interest but kept me fully immersed until the last page. He has explained the power of ignored skills using a very wonderful and effective technique called storytelling. The human brain absorbs and learns any information quicker if it is substantiated by stories and examples. That's what makes Manoj's book stand out. Great work and keep it up Manoj. Looking forward to reading your next book soon. Best wishes

Filled with impressive and enthralling storytelling this book makes the case that in order to excel in practical life we need skills.

Some skills often don't receive the attention and in this book author has highlighted those "ignored" skills.

The book discusses and underlines terrific anecdotes such as:
• Role of Benjamin Franklin in Electricity Discovery
• How a Mathematician Helped Allied Forces to Win the Second World War

In addition, there are stories featuring Steve Jobs, Winston Churchill, Martin Luther King, among others.

The book is written in smooth, efficient and easy to read manner. Author has done a tremendous job at making his points.

Overall, its an excellent book which makes really important points.

The book is full of so many small stories related to skills listed in the book and so beautifully correlated that will force you to think to learn that skill. I really thank Mr. Manoj Tripathy who wrote the book in such a simple language that even a 12 year child will understand the importance of various skills and their applications in life.

If I ask you to give speech on a stage in front of 1,00,000 people, what would be your reaction?

No preparation, no advance notice, nothing.

Just go on the stage and talk about any topic you'd like to talk about.

Will you do it?

99% people will get anxiety just thinking about this.

Why??

👉 You must be passionate about something.
👉 There must be something you love talking about for hours.
👉 There must be something you enjoy doing.

Then what's the problem?

The problem is we are so busy focusing on skills that'll take us to the height of success that we forget that it's important to work on the foundation skills as well.

Without strong foundation the building of success will barely survive for long.

Then matter what you are trying to do.

If you want to build a sky high success, first make the foundation better, stronger and wider.

So what exactly are these foundation skills that'll help you to do that?

Well to learn that, you'll have to read this book. Which extensively talks about the power of these skills.

Such as,
- Power of Observation
- Power of Connecting the dots
- Power of Communication
- Power of Purpose
- Power of Dreams
- Power of Out of the box thinking
- Power of Perseverance
- Power of Deep Diving
- Power of Prediction

So What do I loved the most about this book?
Truckload of real stories author used to explain each topic in detail.
This is one of that rare self help book you can binge read. (Literally)

What did I think about the book?
Engaging, Enlightening and Entertaining.

In short, Definitely recommend!

Omg, where to start. This book has a lot of grammar, spelling and interpunction mistakes. I liked the way it was written, but because of the errors - sometimes I was unable to take it seriously. It’s a good read when it comes to neat examples, tho. To be honest, I don’t think I would read it for the second time, but it has some valuable and inspiring insights.

In this book, you will get to read about how to make the most of the skills that are common but not paid enough attention. The author, through short stories/case study, shares the importance of these necessary skills.
For eg - Power of observation : Isaac Newton observed the apples fall and wondered why are the apples falling. And we got law of gravity. This shows how observation is a powerful tool that can revolutionize many areas.

There are no lengthy narratives in the book. It shares different kinds of skills and you will find around fifty short stories as examples, to highlight the importance of those skills. The book through these stories, shows how these skills have a profound impact on the trajectory of our lives and how we can fully harness their power.

You may already know many of the ignored skills mentioned in the book but after reading the book you will realise that you never actively worked to improve those skills.

If you are a student, a learner or anyone climbing the corporate ladder then you can check out this book to make the most of the skills.

Good book, the author will talk about hinduism and india economy how the struggle of it were conquered.

No communication is also a form of communication, that sich you should know.

If you can dream it you can do it as Walt Disney ceo said, you need to use you’re passion inside. The ceo overcome struggles was fired of his job and was once bankrupt.

Don’t be a quitter persistance is key.
Abraham Lincoln said that persistance fullfills the dream.
Martin luther king “If you cant fly..run if you cant run..walk if you cant walk..crawl” whatever you do keep on moving.

Ikigai is the purpose on happily living you’re life, use that.
