Forced Entry #2

Forced Entry 2: More Mistakes

Rate this book
The sound of the dirt hitting the plastic as I buried the body echoed in my ears for days. Close my eyes and the auditory hallucination began again. Not sure if I can come back from where I'm going. My whole life I've been cursed by one thing: my mistakes are big ones. Some men deserve to die. The story picks back up in the aftermath of the Jackson grow house disaster. Despite the planning, the paranoia, the attention to detail and the control, things keep spiraling out of control. Meet Jenny, the suburban housewife in Biloxi, Mississippi that can do differential equations in her head. She's smart that way. Not so smart in other ways. She lives across the street from a grow house. Can the narrator pull out of the slump? Can he get out alive? Read Forced Entry - More Mistakes now while its still legal.

When reviewing Forced Entry 1: The Unraveling, I said that these episodes could be read in any order and enjoyed, but recommended that they be read in the order in which they were written. Now, as I read Forced Entry 2, I must revise that by saying that you must read these episodes in the order in which they were written, otherwise the story will not make sense.

I’m developing a love-hate relationship with this episodic series. I love all the violence and bloodshed but hate the minute details that Steve Marshall goes into on growing houses operate. I’m not interested in learning how to grow pot and it comes across like nothing more than info dumps and it’s information that I’m not even interested in. It’s ruining the series for me and I feel that he’s adding all this material to make the episode run longer.

The way Forced Entry 2 ended was unexpected and left me wanting to start on Forced Entry 3 to find out what happened next. I hoping that since “Narrator” is closing down his grow houses he will stop feeding us all that hydroponic techno-babble. If he does, I will finish out the series because I do like the characters. If he continues to stuff episode 3 with all that grow house how-to, I will not read episodes 4, 5, and 6.

Another story where the protagonist is operating outside the law. He is totally overcome with paranoia, to the point he does not help his neighbor when she really needs it. Unfortunately she is the type who keeps taking her abuser husband back. It eventually results in her death because of police mistakes.
