Resurrection of Queens #1

Discovery of a Queen

Rate this book
My sisters have been in a magical slumber for centuries, my mother, the last great battle Queen is dead, leaving me to face the world alone. I’m the last of my kind. A Queen, not entirely shifter and not entirely witch but a perfect blend of both. I’ve been living in hiding for over two hundred years, avoiding ties with the supernatural community, specifically the Council and the Alpha of all alphas, like the plague. That is, until I find myself challenging for alpha of the New England pack in front of both the shifter and witch communities. Now, I’m the leader of both. Fuck, I’m the leader of both. I’ve put myself square in the Council’s sight, my time in hiding forcibly over.

But the Council is the least of my problems, Malick, the oldest Arch-Demon to walk the earth, is still alive despite my mother's best efforts. His legion growing in number by the day. I may want to keep myself and my new community away from the legion, but I know that the only way we’ll ever be safe is to kill him.

Countless Queens have tried. All of them failing even with their alpha dragon mates and supernatural communities.

I’m going to have to work with the Alpha, Caleb, a sufficiently powerful alpha dragon, and the Council if I want to end Malick and wipe out his legion for good. Unfortunately, Caleb also happens to be my mate, as in soulmate, together forever, never to be parted, partners in crime. I know that he won’t let me go after we’ve finished wiping Malick from the face of the earth. But I refuse to be subject to the Council’s control, I need to find a way to wake my sisters because what’s coming for us is far worse than Malick and there are no guarantees there will be any survivors.

3.75-4 stars, 2.75/5 🌶🌶🌶. I loved the FMC and how she took no shit from any man or her mate. FMC is an extremely rare dragon queen that has been hiding in for hundreds of years after her family was slaughtered by demons. She is a powerful alpha that dominates anyone. She comes out of hiding to help the supernatural community after a shifter and witch seek her help because women shifters are disappearing. The FMC can’t resist their plea. Along the way, her mate finds her and she resists hardcore because he doesn’t know his place. But they need to team up to deal with the demon threats to the supernaturals. It’s a good plot. There’s lots of supernatural elements thrown in - you get shifters, witches, vampires, demons, archdemons, and the fates. I thought the FMC was hilarious and super sassy. Negatives - there was too much comedy in the spicy scenes. There’s a time and place for it. Author could have amped up the tension between FMC and MMC - she went from resisting to sex pretty quickly. The story jumped pretty quickly from one plot to another. Author could have transitioned better and made sure there was more natural of a flow.

I have not read a paranormal romance before so I didn’t know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised! After losing her mother, the Queen, in a great battle Ayla takes her place. Ayla is half dragon shifter and half witch. She has been in hiding for over 200 years until she becomes challenged for alpha of the New England pack. I love Ayla’s character, she cares for her kind & will fight hard for what she believes! The rest of the characters are well developed, there’s action & romance! Thank you to the author for a gifted copy. This is my honest review.

I don't know why but Queen Ayla reminds me of Queen of Dragons, Khaleesi in Game of Thrones. She is so smart. I never read paranormal romance, this is the first book and I'm amazed. I loved the idea how the main character has the power of being a Dragon leader and leader of witches and vampires. She represents a strong character. She loves her people and she will do everything to keep them safe. The author's idea for Ayla to turn into a Dragon is fantastic. The way she talked to her dragon was just wonderful. In the book I came across creatures I had never heard of. The book is full of suspense, mystery, romance, action, adventures. I loved Ayla and Caleb’s relationship. They make a perfect duo. I strongly recommend this book. It will bring you into a world full of dragons, witches and different crazy creatures. I hope to read the sequel soon. Thank you to the author for providing me this book in exchange of my honest review.

If you like PNR, then this one is for you. We have fated mates, various supernatural creatures, demons and mystery with romance and steam!

This is a different world with different rules and environment. Here, living together is the goal and not hunting each other. Once you start reading, you'll understand this new place and boom you're invested!

While the mystery and evilness is amazing and I'm totally loving it, the romance is just **swoon**. Caleb and Ayla are goalssss! Like how can two people be so perfect? It's making me cry. And let's address the caveman behaviour, holy shit it's hawttt. I like how the setting makes the female the more important being and how Ayla in her very own sassy but determined and confident manner reminds Caleb to share power.

From the beginning where she's working to solve a case to the middle where she's made herself a community and to the end where she's fighting the unfinished fight, I've been loving it. You'll meet creatures you've never would have thought existed. The steam, the fight and the idea behind the story is amazing. The side characters are really good too. There's a problem that's in focus and there's another problem waiting to happen.

I truly enjoyed this and the sequel is releasing too far for my liking! (October 2021)

Ayla has kept her identity hidden for years until one night a couple of ladies come to her asking for her help now as she sets out to help the paranormal community, she finds herself in a difficult situation and having to reveal who she is. She is the last of her kind, a Queen dragon shifter, but now she is also the leader to all the witches, vampires, and shifters in her area. When trouble comes to their front doorstep, she finds herself setting out to do anything to protect the community that’s now like her family and when she fights for them she is revealed to the archdemon that hunts her and her mate. When Ayla finally lets her guard down and her true mate, Caleb, in they become an unstoppable force determined to protect not only each other but their family. The journey is going to continue with more about the new queens, archdemons, and the force behind it all. This story was so entertaining I could not put it down. The author has created a world that is so original and fun to read that has elements ranging from all paranormal entities, action, suspense, and very steamy moments between Ayla and Caleb. I devoured this from start to end and can not wait to read more from this amazing world.

Ayla is the last queen. But, she’s been in hiding for hundreds of years because her kind was hunted down. Now that the demons are up to no good, Ayla will do anything to protect her community.
I enjoyed the banter in this book so much. The bond between Ayla, Kelly and Olivia is so unique. Their relationship was really such a big part of why I loved this book. The plot twists had me pulled into reading this book all day. I also really enjoyed Ayla’s inner dialogue and her vie for independence from Caleb. I felt that Ayla was a well written main character with so much yet left undiscovered about her past.
The flow of this book seemed slow at points. However, the strong characters that the author has created as well as the plot line kept me wanting more.
I especially loved Ayla and Caleb’s relationship. These are two people who are used to being alpha and are struggling to find the new dynamic in their relationship. Reading about Ayla’s refusals to be anyone’s “housewife” were such a great addition to the banter between them.
I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to those who love New Adult Fantasy!

I read a lot of romance books, but I don’t usually go for paranormal romances. I was, however, very intrigued by this one when asked to read it and was quite surprised at how much I enjoyed it! Once I could wrap my head around the terminology and this strange new world, I was easily able to fall right into the book and it’s characters.

The story is very well written and I loved Ayla and Caleb. The banter and wit was probably what I enjoyed the most. And of course, all the steamy scenes.

Elizabeth Brown did an excellent job with this book! I think if you’re a PNR fan you’ll absolutely love it! The cover is amazing, the writing is great, and the characters fantastic!

For the paranormal lover. Sometimes it is good to read outside your box. Great world building. Ayla is a witch/dragon shifter with plenty of snark. She avoided all thing supernatural. Unfortunately she finds herself the leader of both the shifter and the witches. She has to work with the Alpha Caleb to defeat a common enemy. Turns out Caleb is het mate. And to top it off they are fated mates. Ayla and her inner dialogue will have you laughing out loud at times. She is petite but can put super alpha Caleb in his place. Action backed with great characters.

Discovery of a Queen was full of action, strong female characters, and sassy comebacks. I loved it. I'm a huge fan of Dragon shifters, just because of the amount of Lore that goes alongside them and Elizabeth Brown did an excellent job of mixing traditional Lore with her own ideas. Ayla was a bad ass and I loved her (even with some questionable outfit changes... iykyk) and I loved the world that was built up within the story. Brown had an excellent debut novel that set herself up for a strong series, and I can't wait to see what happens next!

This urban fantasy read was the perfect escape!

The world-building featured an awesome cast of supernatural characters. The heroine has suppressed her true nature for her own protection. When she is asked to help locate some missing shifter women, she emerges from the shadows.

Coming into her full powers and claiming them for the good of the supernatural community puts her on a collision path with the Council. The Council oversees the supernatural community, and Ayla knows that she'll never again be inconspicuous.

But Ayla isn't ready for the overwhelming presence of the Alpha in charge of it all. Caleb leads the council with a power that brooks no dissent- and he's never met a woman who can meet him toe to toe. The fireworks between Ayla and Caleb almost ignited the pages.

Paranormal lovers will enjoy

This was a good read, so many paranormal creatures, dragons, witches, demoms, and more. The lore of the creatures seemed well thought out and different in how they were thought to be the first attempt at humans but had two souls. The chemistry and banter made it a fun read. It did end on a bit of a cliffhanger that will make you want book 2 asap.

Review: I really liked this one! It was full of super action packed moments and the characters were well developed and connected well with each other. I liked the pacing and the book flowed so well. The story also hooked me in immediately.

The only issue I had with the book is that the world building could have been better.

Verdict: It was great!

I was immediately drawn into this story with Ayla’s snark and droll wit, warning she does curse if that’s an issue for you. There is some establishing but the action starts right away. Ayla is a female dragon shifter that has been in hiding for 400 years. She likes to keep a low status but that is all blown to bits when it’s brought to her attention that shifter females are disappearing at an alarming rate and she challenges an alpha and wins. To add to her grief she has now put herself in the crosshairs of the Council and they have a tendency to be a bit autocratic in their decrees.

I loved Ayla and her dragon, her inner monologue at times had me laughing out loud, snickering and snorting. While she is small in stature she has a large personality, so be prepared.

Now Caleb, is Alpha male to the extreme and it takes him getting slapped down by Ayla a few times to back up and realize caveman will get him nothing. To be fair he’s fighting his dragon’s desire to mark and claim his mate and it messes with his finesse at times.

Once these two sort out their differences they do make a good team both in and out of bed.

I loved the secondary characters they rounded her out and became the family unit she didn’t realize she had been missing. The different species working together and the let’s weapon up and take out these bad guys attitude was pretty awesome.

The bad guy Malick, is creepy ick factor to the max and his is a bit over the top. I will admit to wanting to bathe whenever he touched Ayla as it left me feeling a bit scuzzy. So in that sense his creepiness had the desired response.

There was a lot of action which was good but also some repetitiveness that made the story drag a bit at times for me. You can only go so many times with a certain thing happening that after a while it becomes a bit of a here we go again. Plus single POV’s are a bit harder for me to feel a full connection to the story. Despite that lack the author does a really good job of filling in some of the blank spots. The characters are all fully fleshed, the plot makes sense and you are given the information in a controlled manner so it doesn’t feel like an information dump. I am excited to see where the author takes the next installment.

I received an advance reader copy and I am leaving a voluntary review.

4.5⭐

I don't usually read PNR stories, but the blurb got me intrigued, is never too late to start reading different genres. This book was interesting, original, funny and it got me sucked into the world of shifters, witches, mages and demons right away.

Ayla is a Queen dragon shifter, which is a mix between a shifter and a witch, and she is presumed to be the last of her kind. She has a lot of power and she has been living in hiding until some bad things started to happen with female shifters in her community and she was asked to investigate this and find what's is happening.
One thing lead to another and she finds herself an Alpha of her community, this is when she mets Caleb, the Apha of all alphas. They share an immediate bond, because they are fated mates, but they still need to overcome they need for power.

What happens when an arch-demon wants to open the Hell's gates to gather more power, and he needs Ayla to do so? Lets just say that Ayla and Caleb need to work together, along with their friends to make sure that this is not gonna happen.

The interaction between Caleb and Ayla was really interesting and funny sometimes. The whole story was written in a way to enjoy it, giggle here, be serious there. I enjoyed the interaction between Ayla and her dragon, they are hilarious. All characters are great and have their place in the storyline.

I can't wait to read the next book in the series, and see how the story will continue.

I am a huge lover of PNR so with that being said you can imagine how hard it is to hard a book that is 100% original. Or at least in this case it was for me, i have never come across a story quite like this one before and it was thoroughly refreshing.

Alya is a Queen Dragon but she is so much more than that! She is a Queen Boss Dragon that kicks ass, takes names, and has some much inner strength it's astounding! And don't even get me started on her dragon... All I will say is she is one thirsty dragon with a boat load of sass! I also love her friendship bonds she has, they are truly something special but also quite relatable with their connection that is more than having bonds with one another. It's a true girly friendships.

The moment your eyes start eating the words up you are spellbound. The rules and world is so different to what I have read a million times before. This story transports you somewhere incredible and quite honestly I wasn't ready to leave.

All the characters, main and side, all have an integral part to play as the story unfolds. You have love, longing, lust, darkness, deceit, with a huge plot of twists and turn that will keep you enthralled. Not to mention it's got more than dragons in it and who doesn't love a mix of PNR creatures in one place?! If I could give more stars I would have but all that's left now is to eagerly await the next book...

I was sent an e-arc in exchange for my honest review..
I'm a sucker for anything Dragon so the cover snagged my attention from the jump..

Ayla was Badass! Pure and simple. Not gonna lie book boyfriends are great and I'd add Caleb to my Harem any day!

But sweet sweet Ayla definitely hits 3rd on my tier of book girlfriends.

Ayla is a Queen but for reasons you soon find out she hadn't yet let that side of her come to fruition... Olivia and Kelly where both amazing little bad asses to but this was Aylas circus first and both her and her dragon radiated big D energy

D as in Dragon that is *wink*

Caleb was deliciously alpha and had that (me man here me roar) mentality that while some would find annoying was actually quite cute....

Ayla was not to be trifled with and Called simply wouldn't be moved. That is until.....he met his match..

I recommend reading "Discovery of a Queen" it's full of sassy, snarky, funny, sexy, action and even some down right tear jerking moments.

I can't wait to see how Olivia's story unfolds and I wait anxiously to see what other think of this amazing book..

This is the first book of Resurrection of Queens.

**Possible spoilers**

Ayla is a smart, don't take any crap, fierce female shifter. She has stayed pretty hidden through the years in order to protect herself and you learn why its important for her to do this. When a couple of ladies come asking her for help, she decides to do it after doing a little recon. In helping out these two, she gets herself into a leader position that she wasnt necessarily wanting. Yet, after years of just doing her own thing, finally feels like she belongs. Of course something happens and she is now going to fight for her peeps! Go girl! When this happens, her true identity is exposed and this is when trouble really starts to enter her life. Not only for her but for her hella hot mate, Caleb. Can we say swoon worthy? Cause dammmnnnn... yes, please.

I love reading paranormal and its nice to get a different take on the shifter world, since majority of stories have them separated and this one is actually bringing them together. Im excited to see what happens with the other queens and other characters in this series, especially Malick... you know that meme that has authors making a reader fall in love with the bad guy... yeah... lol... I might have a thing for this archdemon.

Eek! When does book two come out?! I need it in my life!

I need more or Ayla’s sass and backchat; more of the love and friendship gained because of the pack and I DEFINITELY need more of Caleb. Everything about Caleb!

The storyline of this book is epic! I love the imagination Brown uses to build up and being together all of the different types of characters. I adore the idea of Queens who can shape-shift into dragons. They are powerful and protective and all kinds of amazing! I also love how all types of people congregate towards them and build a strong bond together through love.

Malick is all kinds of evil and I despise what he does to Ayala. The only benefit is that it brings her closer to Caleb and she manages inherit a new sister Queen who I CANNOT wait to see and hear more of. Her powers seem even more impressive than Ayla’s and that’s saying something!

This book will keep you hooked and make you desperate to read the next one. The sex scenes are hot and steamy but don’t take up the whole book - they’re great but there’s so much more story to enjoy!

Brown has done an incredible job on this novel - pick it up and fall into a whole new world!

If you like books that have a strong female lead, filled with action, mystery, and spice then you need to run and read this book!!

This book kept me on the edge and pulled me in right from the start! And can we talk about the female lead for a second because not only is she strong, sexy, and hilarious but I have never related so much to a character. The way she views the world, her personality, and how she realistically handles shit is so relatable that it made it so easy to get lost in this book like I was actually the main character!!

And Caleb, omg. How is he so perfect?!?! Ayla and Caleb are literal couple goals!!!

If you pick this book up, please DM me or tag me in your rants and review so we can simp for Ayla and Caleb together!!! They have easily become one of my favorite book couples and this book has easily become one of my absolute favorites!!

"Three Fates pure to keep the gate, past, present, future. Should one Fate fall the seals will break, maiden, mother, crone. Two Fates more shall fall, and Hell shall wake, life, death, rebirth. New queens will rise to fight for light, female, queen, goddess. A sacrifice will heal the breach, shifter, witch, vampire. Three new Fates will be the key."

I was kindly provided an ARC for my review for this book and whilst I'm not usually a Paranormal reader, I thought this story sounded interesting so I accepted, and I was pleasantly surprised!

Once I got the hang of the terminology for these characters and also who was who (shifters, demons, archdemons etc) I was able to get into the story a bit more. I enjoyed the back and forth between Ayla and Caleb (he is so hot).

There's was a fair bit of action and some steamy sex scenes, overall I enjoyed this Paranormal Romance.

My PNR loving heart was dancing and shouting in glee as I was reading this book. Elizabeth is now right there with my fave PNR authors Deborah Cooke, Sherrilyn Kenyon, JR Ward, Adrienne Woods, and Celia Kyle. I thoroughly enjoyed the building dynamics between Ayla and Caleb, as well as the bond between the emerging queens. There was action galore, the pacing of the entire story was so smooth like whiskey, and the world-building was amazing that I could totally envision everything as it happened. There are shifters, witches, vampires, and dragons - oh my! If sassy, self-confident, caring, and powerful shifter women is your jam, then this is an awesome addition to your collection.

We love Elizabeth brown, and we love this book.

It is a fantastic steamy paranormal romance featuring shifters, witches, vampires, demons and gods.

This story focuses on Ayla a Dragon shifter/Queen and Caleb an Alpha Dragon from the Council of supernaturals.

This fated mates story is not straight forward as there is a battle for power and dominance, and an overall issue with archdemons but along the way there is witty banter, friendships, the prophecies.

There is also something super hot about fated mates that are so connected that they can speak to each other in their minds during sexy times.

Honestly I thought this wasn't going to be for me when I read the prologue and chapter 1 but I pushed through and I'm so glad I did.

Once I got into the story it had me intrigued and kept me reading until the end.

Alya and Caleb were great together and the banter between them kept me smiling and desperately waiting for them to complete their mate bond.

There was so much to keep up with and a lot going on but it was written very well and such an interesting storyline.

Can't wait for more to see what happens next.

"Discovery of a Queen" is a romance fantasy full of dragons, witches, shifters, vampires, and prophecies. The author writes an intriguing storyline, blending action, romance, and humor. The character dynamics, the tension between the strong FMC, the alpha male mate, and the positive portrayal of a strong woman are executed masterfully. A great read for fans of strong female protagonists and fantasy romance.
