While crossing the Gruen Desert, they save a young Ankajian man, Bize, from a sandworm attack. Apparently, he was searching for a cure to the mysterious disease that has struck his people. His travels led him to conclude that a mineral known as stillrock held the key to saving his country, but it can only be found inside the Grand Gruen Volcano, a labyrinth far too dangerous for most. Hajime agrees to help Bize procure some, and the party begins their quest to conquer yet another labyrinth. But along the way, they meet a most unexpected foe...

The story has grown complacent. Unexciting and repetitive instead of challenging or threatening. It can't just be a jeep full of sex on legs traveling to find the treasures of Indiana Jones.

More Arifureta. I've really enjoyed the series -- this one felt more of the same. Once again the bonus stories were not worth the read and that I am not taking off another star for it is amazing. (I guess giving it 3 to begin was harsh enough... maybe 3.5).

So Hajime and his Harem so OP that I've wondered if there would ever be a challenge for them. We see a bit of one here. An actual struggle to some degree to overcome the challenges of the Gruen Volcano. But of course they do, eventually. And frankly far too easily. I know not every book is going to be book 1 where he grows into the being he is... but the obstacles were not overly impressive. And while learning more about the history of the world in the labyrinth was pretty cool, it almost seemed like .

The biggest issue I have with it is... nobody except Hajime and friends could possibly get through these labyrinths. A 'normal' hero team would not survive. Heck, the rest of his classmates are struggling to get through the Orcus Labyrinth -- there is no way they would manage to get through Gruen based on what we've seen so far.

So enough negativity about it -- I can admit I was hoping we'd see something more. Or at least see more of Hajime's internal struggle of if he's become a monster or if he's truly human. Onward!

I kind of hope this was a bit transitional and we see something more than the same-ol' same-ol' in volume 6.

This book felt rushed.

The group finishes two dungeons in this volume, and you can tell when reading through them that perhaps the author was getting bored with the concept of doing the dungeons and coming up with ideas for them. Both dungeons felt like a mess while reading them and far less thought out like the first and second had been. And despite the author talking about trying their hardest to do character development during their epilogue address to the reader, it felt only a couple of the characters actually got anything sort of a developmental arch.

The groups' powers really come across as over-powered in this volume as well. Sure, they always were, but it's really apparent in this one. So much so that the author had to create a creature that was almost impossible to kill to actually challenge them. It makes me concerned for where the future of the series is going to go.

Still, there were a lot of enjoyable parts of this book and I will of course keep reading them. Just hoping things feel more like I am reading an actual story instead of one long action scene in the books to come...

It's time for Hajime to return Myu to her mother---but new locations inevitably mean new problems. An oasis town is suffering from a contaminated water supply. Two new dungeons await, pushing Hajime and his companions to their limit.

For the first time, we have a good look into the demon's perspective. And Hajime meets someone he can't overpower or avoid, who is competing with him to conquer the ancient labyrinths and obtain their powers.

I also liked the way Hajime gets roped into helping out around town far more than he originally wanted to. Certain types of problems are very easy for him and his party to solve, which makes him feel like it's not a big deal, even though it's still things others find impossible to duplicate.

I'm still not a fan of the harem antics, but at least there's enough other stuff going on to balance it out. Myu's mother is of course added as another candidate, and Kaori is working on integrating herself with the group.

Overall, if you've liked the previous ones this is a good next step. It throws a few more interesting things into the mix, namely the demons, and has plenty of good action scenes. I rate this book Recommended.

One would think having two dungeon runs in one book would make things more exciting, but they were just kinda dull instead. I'm also disapointed that my coolest girl Shizuku made the cover but barely appeared in this volume. Overall this volume feels like the story is going somewhere but needed to clear some stuff out of the way first.

Over Powered

Considering all the stuff Hajime keeps making I half expect him to build a bomber at some point soon. Also weird thought but since he can acquire skills by eating parts of monsters what'd happen if he ate a demon?

One of my favorites in the series, but the paperback had quite a few grammatical errors. However it didn't take away from the great story. Love Arifureta!

I'm sad to see sweet little Myu go, but at the end of the day, the interactions between her and the other characters were fun while it lasted.

Two labyrinths in one book, I am honestly shocked. Usually they drag out things for ages.
