Cadi Warriors #1

The Warrior’s Pet

Rate this book
Giselle didn't know how long she lay near catatonic willing the terrible headache to go away. She sat up as one of the reptilian aliens entered. Giselle backed up and looked around realizing she was alone in a gilded cage.
"What's going on?" She stammered.
"If you're wise you'll keep quiet, pets don't speak on this planet." The creature admonished.
A pet? Giselle's eyes widened. She hadn't misheard.
Her cage was moved into a large tent. There were hundreds of aliens gathered for the auction, and these creatures were the largest yet. Their flesh was red like some kind of demon might be, with hair a uniform dark black. From what Giselle could see their eyes were a stone cold obsidian hue. Giselle noticed the fearsome creatures had long tails that rose out from what looked like chain mail kilts. Giselle shrunk back when she saw the creatures also had sharp fangs.
How in the hell could she get out of this and if she did how could she possibly survive on an alien planet?

Kagan beheld his pet. Nothing like her kind had ever set foot on Cadi. Kagan wondered where in the universe her unique species hailed from.
Giselle refused to behave and even enjoyed his attempts to rebuke her, reveling in the rough handling a male usually held back with females. Giselle was brave instead of meek, standing up for herself in a sea of foreigners.
Kagan had at first insisted that Giselle understand her place in Cadi society. But something more valuable than precious metal or jewels would be lost if Giselle was forced into the role everyone thought she belonged.

Can Giselle find acceptance and love on an alien planet or will she always be nothing more than a warrior's pet?

Thank you for your interest in my fairy tales.

Here's to the imagination and a little daydream.

Writing is my hobby. As a child, I had a hard time learning to read, so anything I took an interest in was deemed acceptable. I have always enjoyed fairy tales, the older unsanitized versions, as well as the modern ones, mythology, science fiction, action and romance. As I read, my mind wanders, spinning its own tales. So, I figured I’d share my ramblings with you.
The books I write contain little snippets from my life. I leave it to you to decide which scenes are fact, fiction, or a bit of both. I am far braver and bolder than is likely sensible, so my heroines are just as gutsy. I'd probably be categorized as an adrenalin junky. My life has been an adventure. I've done archaeology in the hot sun, am well versed with power tools, took Tae Kwon Do in college, have ridden on a Harley with a dark stranger, but never met an alien, vampire or shifter, that I know of.
My stories are tawdry, feature a heroine who is gifted in some way, and will always end happily ever after. It is my opinion this is meant to be entertainment, and a depressing ending is not entertainment. Real life offers enough depressing crap. However, I have been called dark.
My apologies for my horrific grammar. It is something I struggle with. It is probably connected to the slow reading thing. Believe me people have tried. I truly hope that my fairy tales make up for it.

Amazing does not even come close to this book. And then add in that I got this book for free. I feel like this book is a diamond in the ruff. I wouldn't have found it had others on an Amazon thread not mentioned it, and thinking I may never have read this book or heard of this author makes me sad. I can't tell you how awesome how amazing, or how stunning this book is. From word one I was hooked till the very last word of this book. I didn't want to put it down. I couldn't get enough. In short this book was just what I was looking for even if I didn't know it yet.

Giselle wakes to find she has been taken, and maybe worse that she's been taken from earth by aliens, and that aliens even exist. When Giselle is sold as a pet she is devastated and to find her capture to be cruel and sadistic Giselle knows she has to find a way to survive. When Kagan is scouting out his enemy he see's a strange creature who intrigues him. When he can't get her off his mind he knows that she has become part of his plan. Freeing Giselle, Kagan knows she will be his pet.

Kagan isn't like her last capture he is kind but he is still her capture and she is still his pet. Finding him attractive is confusing especially since the more time they spend together the more Giselle learns about Kagan and finds herself having feelings for him. Even though Kagan treats her well Giselle can't sit by and accept being anyones pet. As she begins to break down Kagan's walls and show him who she really is and that owning anyone is wrong they also begin to fall in love and Kagan begins to question the rules of their relationship.

As they begin to move forward devastation is being wreaked on Kagan's plant by none other than the man who had Giselle prisoner. When Kagan and his warriors make plans to wage war an unexpected ally comes forward and not only helps them but shows them they have more than they ever thought if they only look.

I can't tell you how great this book is. I wish I could read it over again for the first time. There are a few things I would have preferred happened a little differently but I also get that this takes place on a different planet than earth. And these things didn't make this book any less than great. Giselle is a perfect heroine she is strong, and smart and she is also wise and kind, she teaches Kagan and his warriors so much. Kogan is special hero, yes he comes into this taking our heroine as a pet but he quickly learns she is not that at all. He loves her so much and will give up everything for her. She's all he see's and he is continually in awe of her.

The world Stephanie West created is amazing and intricate. I loved reading about Kagan and Giselle but I loved reading about this world as well. She does an exemplary job of world building, and creating side characters. This book is very full making the story stand out even more. I can not tell you how happy I am to see this will be a series. I don't want to see this book end, and to see that Kagan's second in command (dagaa) will be getting a book and I couldn't be more ecstatic.

This author is someone that if you don't know you need to find out about her. If you don't have this book you need it. I feel like I got away with something here since I got this book off of Amazon for free. I would have gladly paid for this book, and I have every intention of getting book two the second it is released, in fact I have a new author to add to my stalk list:}

* there is some violence toward Giselle in this book but I think the author handles it really well, and it is very quick, and a quick scene.

Book Review

I really did enjoy "The Warriors Pet" It's been a while since I read me a good Alien romance and this one ticked all my boxes.
If I had one criticism though ( and this is where it lost a star for me ) its that I had to suspend my disbelief slightly as the story unfolded.
Giselle the Pet of the forenamed book title manages to completely turn opinions around as she slowly morphs into this super wise woman who excels at everything she does including war-mongering.
Bringing to a head years of conflict between two opposite warring factions.
I really just couldn't see it myself; despite this, I still adored events here; losing myself in the rich well-developed landscape this author has constructed with such finesse.
So after Giselle is abducted from earth she founds herself auctioned off as a pet.
Eventually finding herself the personal Pet of Kagan.
Giselle is the opposite to everything a Cadi woman is; Bold, Brave and outspoken and it's not long before Kagan starts to realise he just might have met his match in his new little plaything.
But stuck on a planet where Giselle is seen as little more than property can she change the attitudes around her and win her man.
So this was a great imaginative read that captured and kept my attention so easily.
It was told in dual POV; Kagen and Giselle's and captured their essences beautifully.
I was super invested in all the outcomes here and despite some instances where I would have prefered a slightly different scenario than what we were given I still essentially loved most things about this.
I am a sucker for Aliens that actually resemble aliens and that is what we are given here with tail fangs and all and this for me was a massive plus point in this story's favour.
Oh, and as an added incentive this was also smokin hot also; like set the pages to blazing.
So this gets a definite thumbs up from me It's a fun sexy read that really manages to deliver.
A great start to a new series.
All opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

Instead of waking up to take her college midterms, Giselle wakes up on an alien spaceship and proceeds to have a very bad day. She’s stripped, probed, and corralled with a bunch of other captives who look like Wookies for auction on a planet far, far away from earth. She ends up as a pet of Jabba the Hutt a most unpleasant master (more probing) until she’s stolen by Kagan, sworn enemy of her previous captor.

Kagan turns out to be a kind and thoughtful keeper of slaves and pets and Giselle, feeling more comfortable, throws a tantrum and demands to be treated as an equal. And then smut happens and happens some more and Kagan is very taken with his new pet.

Who turns out to be a brilliant military strategist and saves his planet from centuries of war and wins the love and respect of the entire planet.

Um hmm. Just don’t think about it too hard.

Some random thoughts: I came for the alien abduction and stayed for the alien smut, which was frequent and very, very smutty. What these two were able to do while riding a giant tiger-horse defies my ability to describe it. As for the scene where Kagan gets his tail into the process…I shut my eyes and hoped no one would need medical attention afterwards.

I usually think of alien abduction stories as science fiction, but this got nowhere near science. Or logic.

It was jarring that the author gave no hint in the first quarter of the book, when Giselle seemed intelligently cautious of her new circumstances, that the heroine was a wolf in sheep’s clothing. A belligerent, reckless, feminist badass wolf, at that. I took me a chapter or two before I got with the new program.

As for the human college student who saves the planet when her hunky, honorable male couldn’t, well, he’s a nice guy and hot in bed. So what if he’s not Julius Caesar?

This isn’t clever or profound but it is fun and engaging. And speaking of fun, this reading experience was made even more entertaining by the shared comments of my buddy readers, Lori, Izzah, and CB. Thanks for the laughs, y’all!

4.5 STARS ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Oh wow!!! This was surprisingly AWESOME and enjoyable!
I loved it! Loved this story soo much 😍😍

We have hot red tailed and fanged aliens . We have a badass heroine. We have a super sexy and lovable Hero. Did I mentioned super Hot/ Sexy / Smart/ Kinky/ Dirty-Talking Hero??😍😍😜

Oh man! This was good good good!

Our Giselle was abducted by aliens and sold as a pet to other aliens. The chances are not in her favor you say? Well think again 😬

I don’t want to say much about the plot and story line because I will ruin this for you, but trust me is it awesome 👏🏻!

I always loved a heroine which is brave , strong, independent, intelligent and knows to speak her mind when she should and knows to be quiet when the situation requires and Giselle was perfect in that way.
Kagan is mine !! He is smart , sexy (again 🤣🤣), perfect with his penis sorcery 😬 and very possessive!

So the author put together two awesome main characters + a different alien world +action +beautiful love story + some very light BDSM steamy scenes and a handful of great side characters and she got a brilliant story ❤️

The half of star was taken for a scene that I think could have been removed from this story. But everything else brilliant 👏🏻

I really liked this. I initially passed b/c I thought this was a dark BDSM book which it is NOT. I really liked both the MC. The h sort of reminds me of SE Smith's Dragon Lords h's though not nearly as OTT which is a positive for me.

I was engaged while reading. 3rd ppov that alternates between H/h & side characters.

Well, Son of a Metcor! That was not what I was expecting, but it was definitely entertaining for a Buddy Read nonetheless. What I was expecting was a frightened, human female being abducted by aliens, and being held in a cage as a pet to a ferocious, alpha warrior and they slowly fall in love. It was actually quite opposite for me though. She came across as the warrior and he the weak one.

👹 Kagan - the leader of the Vidya Cadi. He had a wicked tongue and strategically placed bumps, and he knew how to use them 😈, he had a tail that could double as an anal dildo… in fact the only time I really thought Kagan was dominant was in the bedroom. Those scenes were erotic and he really shined there. But as for being an alpha warrior leader, he really paled next to the fmc and her badassery. He came across as too soft and was forever replying to her sheepishly, apologizing to her…. his prisoner.

🥷🏼 Yes, Giselle was badass. She had her great moments of teaching the warriors Judo, she performed a little belly-dancing, she gave wonderful advice to the children, got matching tattoos with Kagan and then shared her ideas and knowledge of war planning with Kagan and his clan. BUT….she had zero situational awareness and had me laughing at her ridiculousness thru out much of the book. She was obstinate and refused to accept the idea of being a pet or a prisoner/slave and demanded to have equal rights during her first 24 hours captivity.

Exhibit #1 -
“Giselle was doing her best to be thankful for being warm the entire night and having a full belly. Yet try as she might Giselle was somehow more frustrated.
While she had been with Vigdis, Giselle had feared for her life and that had kept her mind occupied. Now she was concentrating on the lack of equity in her current situation and truly mourning the loss of her old life and freedom.
It hurt deeply to be told that you are a thing. That you along with your feelings, wants and dreams don't matter. That you don't have a say in your own fate.”

This is her first day with the hero (who did not keep her in a cage, yet treated her kindly). The hero had just saved her from the evil enemy, she had just witnessed tons on people be gored and slaughtered. She should be petrified and thankful to be in a seemingly safer camp now, yet she starts getting pissy right away with these aliens.

Exhibit #2 -
“You cannot touch a warrior's weapon." Sabin said with wide eyes. He was loud enough one of the warriors looked their way.
Giselle stared pointedly at the warrior with a look that said "What?" She was so frustrated with the double standard bull shit she was ready to scream.
"So is it because I'm a pet or a girl?" Giselle asked.”

She was forever complaining about the ‘double standard bullshit’. Lol on what planet are prisoners allowed or trusted to clean and handle weapons? Why is that ‘double standards’? Why would she assume it’s because she’s a girl? Hello, Giselle, it’s because you’re a prisoner! 🙄

Exhibit #3 -
“A warrior approached her flank eyeing her with shock. Giselle didn't have the time or the patience for some double standard bull shit.”
She had, as a prisoner, just jumped on the back of a running animal, to steer it and its wounded rider to safety. So it was a heroic action she did, and the fellow soldier riding with her party was looking at her in shock… because she had just done something difficult and heroic. Yet she immediately gets pissed, again, about assuming someone is ridiculing her for being female. 🙄

Exhibit #4 -
“Kagan led her into a room with several of his commanders. Dagaa looked pissed when he looked at Giselle's injuries. Even Cyprian was there and stared at her in shock. The rest of the army must have arrived in the night.
"Alright I know I'm a mess. Cut the poor female crap and lets get down to business." Giselle insisted.”

She had just been beat up by a fellow rogue soldier, she had a messed up swollen face, etc and when she walked into the great room and the soldiers that liked and respected her saw her battered face, they were shocked and angry to see someone had abused her. She takes it as poor female crap. 🙄

The ending adventurous part was decent, the book held my attention the whole way thru, but to rate it… I need to compare it to others that I have loved… and this heroine that gives feminist a bad rap brought my stats down to 2.5. And that’s a shame, she could have been badass, but a bit more chill with forever being offended.

Until our next alien BR, Gloria, CB and Izzah! 🛸

The best thing about this book is the heroine, Giselle. Is she a little unbelievable? Yes. Does she fall into lust awfully fast with Kagan? Yes. Does she enjoy her spankings? Ugh, yes. She is also one of the more well-scripted women / human / alien beings rights activists I've read in sci-fi romance. She has a no muss - no fuss attitude, stays relatively upbeat and possesses a high level of determination. Giselle does not acclimate to her role as slave/pet to her alien abductors. Once the Cadi get past the fact that she has language capabilities and is, in fact, educated and intelligent, she affects change in their culture. She is wise and learned and spouts perfect little nuggets of advice that literally made me stop and think. (Methinks there has been some philosophical research done in preparation for her character). THAT is why Giselle was so great.

Quite a bit of the story in this book is typical of other alien abduction themes with high erotic content (which was only so-so). Nothing original here, although the early parts of the book feature significant brutality stemming from the villain you love to hate, Vigdis. Luckily, once Giselle faces her second abduction at the hands of Kagan, the overt brutality slackens.

The dynamic between Kagan and Giselle shifts and changes over the course of the book. She goes from pet to a totally unique and new role for a Cadi woman. On the way, she completely turns Kagan's view of social order upside down and inside out. He thrills at her defiance, takes pride in it, and all the same wants to dominate it. "Why was he so desperate to master her mind, body and soul?"

This book is heavily centered on the romance between Kagan and Giselle, and the dialogue passages are very good. It falls down in the descriptive passages, especially in creating a remarkable setting in a new world with new species. However, secondary characters were interesting, and the little nugget at the end teasing at a sequel for Kagan's second in command had me downloading the next book.

3.5 rounded to 4 stars.

The start of a good Science Fiction Erotic Romance. The heroine uses her wits and changes the culture she finds herself in.

The hero values and respects the heroine even as he deals with cultural changes.

There is a lot of action adventure and this world in engaged in a civil war and slavery.

Less dark than I remembered

I might've meshed this story and the author's Nameless Fate's storyline because for some reason I remembered more violence.

What stuck this time were some good things and some not so great things.

So this one was more like a 3.75-4 star book but it was bumped up to five because it had a heroine I loved and with the amount of useless heroines in books these days I have found myself giving more and more credit to the authors that go against the grain and write strong females with a brain.

The world building was ok, it wasn't amazing but the alien Hero character building was very good. I would have liked to learn more about his race and the world that she found herself stuck in.

The only thing I didn't love was that during sex the females of the H's race were constantly put down. It's a good way to show that the h is special but it's a superficial way to show it. It makes his race very one dimensional and that is never a good thing in a sci fi or fantasy.

all in all 4 star writing 5 star characters for me

I finished this book, but didn't really like it. It was riddled with grammatical errors and wrong word usage, i.e., waived his hand, loose his mind, in and instant, etc.

There was a missing sense of time passage. In one scene, the heroine starts her period in front of everyone. Pets are kept naked for the most part, so she was naked when this happened. The very next scene jumped to something else, and it was never mentioned how the previous scene was handled. Female aliens don't have periods. Why was this even mentioned only to be dropped? This jumping around happened in a several situations.

It was never explained how the heroine got to the alien world. I guess she was "abducted?"

The heroine was a history professor on Earth, but in the alien world, she's crafting successful military strategies because she'd read about historical battles and read the Art of War. She also designed electromagnetic pulse disruptors on the fly. Lol, yeah right. She thought of herself as average looking, but her actual description and the way the aliens reacted to her was as if she was a blond haired and blue eyed Jessica Rabbit. Her tolerance for pain was astronomical. The hero's name was branded onto her back, and she barely flinched and required no recovery time.

The hero and heroine got married at a mass funeral surrounded by mourners and with hundreds of bodies burning on funeral pyre behind them. Then they went back to their room for a long night of loud sex. That whole marriage scene, which included the branding, was extremely tasteless. There was no pressing need for them to get married right there and then. Why couldn't they wait until later? At least until the bodies stopped burning? I was offended for the other mourners who had their loved ones' funeral rites short-changed.

Overall, the story required too much suspension of disbelief. I won't be reading the second book, if there is one.

Giselle the human and Kaden the Cadi Alien.
I was not expecting much from this book at first. But the story was nicely paced (even if it was predictable) and the romance was good. I do find the HUGE alien thing kind of a turnoff. I mean if she is small enough to look like a child next to him, well that's a bit much (pun intended!). But I tried not to picture them that way in my head and the sex scenes were pretty HOT!
There was a bit more violence than I was expecting, but it wasn't very graphic.
Giselle is kidnapped and sold to Kaden's enemy who is an OTT villain. Luckily Kaden rescues her, and I mean luckily for him. Because it turns out that Giselle is the key to defeating the bad guy.
I must admit, I did roll my eyes a few times when Giselle shows yet again another facet of her complex Earth Girl's kick ass persona, thereby saving the day. But it was well done and entertaining with low angst.
How on earth (or not) did the Cadi survive all these years without her? lol.
The world building is decent, and has a kind of feudal feel to it with a smattering of technology.

Skimming at the start. The writing is not grabbing me. It was free so I have no qualms about cutting my loss now.

Not rating it because there wasn't any one specific thing to make me stop. I just don't care for the writing style. It seems juvenile, lackluster, and cartoonish.

This was surprisingly really good. A good plot, a fierce herione, and a huge red sexy warrior. I liked Kagan from the start, especially when he rescued Giselle from the psycho who bought her at the auction. The sex was so hot, but it stopped towards the end of the book, and I definitely wanted more. But their love story was great. Kagan could have just treated Giselle like his people expected, but he realized she was special and made sure his people knew it too. Giselle was my type of girl. She used martial arts to handle people who got touchy feely and helped Kagan's army in battle. The biggest reason I took a star off was the grammar errors. I usually don't let that affect my rating too much, but sometimes I had to read things twice to understand because of missing commas and stuff like that.

World building
I thought the author did a good job describing the alien race. Their planet has been ravaged by civil war which explained the fight between the bad guy, Viglis, and the good guy, Kagen. The animosity between these two leaders in particular was explained well, as were descriptions of their appearance and behavior.

The story
Giselle is abducted and then sold at a slave auction on this alien planet. She's bought by the bad guy as a pet and then stolen by the good guy. (Kagen also steals all Viglis' other slaves as well). From there, it's all about the big battle between these two leaders and who is going to win.

Giselle
I liked her character for the most part... She wasn't a whiny bitch, but she wasn't afraid to submit to Kagen either which made for some pretty steamy scenes.

Where it lost me...
Giselle is a pet on this new planet, and pets don't speak. Pets aren't respected. Pets are less than. Even if I bought that because she's spunky and spoke out of turn a few times, saying things that made Kagen take notice, she somehow is the one pet who can undo all of their conditioning, there's still the problem of her being a damn war strategist. She studied history and took some Judo classes. Just because she read the Art of War does not mean she'll suddenly be able to come up with battle plans that will make everybody respect her. It was a little far-fetched for me.

Still, it was an enjoyable read with an interesting and unique plot line, and I enjoyed it.

REVIEW

Rating: 4/5
POV: 3rd, Multi
Heat Level: 5+/5
Tropes: Sci-Fi - Aliens; Opposites Attract (cuz you know Alien vs Human, lol); Forced Proximity; Mate Marking
Kinks: Butt Stuff; Somnophilia

Likes:
* Very fun plot
* the smut
Dislikes:
* felt a bit YA but SPICY (not complaining about that part lol) - the plot and story telling just lacked a more intricate level.

Conclusion:
This was a pleasantly surprising read! Before this book I had not dipped my toes yet into reading sci-fi romance (except for like 1 dystopian book) and I am so glad this was my first book to do that with because I feel hooked now! It was a very strong story line or plot but it was fun and i'm happy with that. I could even see myself doing a reread of this book.

Thank you for helping me take the plunge into sci-fi alien romance - Izzah, Lori, and Gloria! This was a fun BR. :)

This was a clever variation of the "only earth girl in the universe" trope, and our spunky heroine lives up to her heritage. The world was simple enough, and the relationship between captor and captive grew naturally. The challenges they face from friend and foe were well thought out. The sex was just right.

One important note - the story was top notch, but the writing was not. It almost seemed like this was a mediocre translation of a foreign book. In several places, the wrong words were used and the wrong imagery was provided, not to mention a few word substitutions that went awry. The pull of the adventure kept me going past these annoyances.

There is a hint for a sequel, which will hopefully be more carefully edited.

History major heroine who knows how to quote The Art of War manages to solve a multi-century conflict after a few days arriving on the planet as a "pet"

When two parties are at war for a long time, they usually develop different technologies or tactics, they don't revert back to the bronze age, especially since they are still capable of space-travel?? 😂

So the story is dumb as hell, and the smut starts out with dubious consent, but the rest of the steamy scenes are not bad. Just uh, don't think too hard about anything going on in the book

Picked this up based on a GR Friend's review and that it's free. The friend's review was dead-on that it is a good story with likable characters badly in need of editing.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show.... The misuse of words and missing comments are prevalent enough to be distracting. In spite of the flaws, it was good enough that I took a chance on book 2.

Fast paced, very hot, erotic science fiction romance that could not be put down.

Sci-Fi romance is a favorite of mine and the hotter the better. This is one of the best books that I have read in the last year or two. I thoroughly loved and enjoyed it. The 'aliens' are so varied and wonderfully described in their physical appearance, personalities and within the cultures they represent. All somewhat humanoid but within a very ET setting. Some may be off put by the lack of detail in the initial abduction but I did not miss it, as it is so often done and was not essential to the story. The story is really a tale of how a competent, educated and self aware woman comes to terms with her ever changing circumstances in 'out of this world' situations, just as she has learned to do in her life at home on Earth. The themes are somewhat more elevated than my usual reads, dealing with differences among cultures and races and resulting prejudice. The book is cleverly laid out with lots of real earth historical references. The heroine is a history graduate student; and, the chapters appear to be a classic strategic plan, SWOT analysis and all. Because of this set up, I found the plot elements of war, slavery, good vs evil and even sex much, much more interesting. If you like science fiction romance (HEA) and/or erotica (very hot sex scenes), you will enjoy this read. It's a page turner. And, I'm hoping there is a sequel or even a series, as the ending leads the reader to believe there may be more to come.

Where do I begin....

Giselle is kidnapped by aliens, sold as a pet ...and that's where I stopped.

There are just so many problems with the story and so many errors in writing mechanics, I just couldn't bother trying to go further. There's lots of monotonous description....of the action and of the characters' thoughts and feelings; there's hardly any dialogue -- and what's there is incredibly stilted and confusing, since commas are in short supply.

I usually try to finish every book -- but this one's going in my DNF stack.

On one hand I liked some of the story, and on the other hand there were some situations that left me feeling a little....eeehhh

description

I mean I guess I liked that the h was crafty and used everything she had to her advantage...but some of the methods were a bit out there for moi.

I mean doing a belly dance/strip tease/lap dance in front of a small army of men, and then having a loud "shadow puppet"sex show with lots of vocals in order to win the men over by having them lust after her in hopes that they....stop seeing her as a pet?--really shouldn't have worked, but somehow did?

Or just the being stark naked and spanked in front of everyone as punishment then getting down- I guess I just like romance away from strangers objectifying gazes. I don't mind exhibitionists, but I guess I personally only like it to be between the couple and not for everyone to see.

But the thing that kind of pissed me off was the h

What in the what?
Nope. Electric chair.

But I guess I did have some fun with the schmexy times- so hey not all bad I guess.

This was an alien abduction sci-fi romance. It had a mix of romance and action and threw in a bit of intrigue. Tonally this was a fairly gritty tale with a bunch of darker elements like abduction, slavery, violence, and sexual assault. It mitigated the darker elements by having a strong, if slightly kinky, main romance core and some heartfelt and playful moments.

The set-up was pretty typical for an alien abduction sci-fi romance. Giselle woke up with a killer headache and things only got worse from there as she realised she had been abducted by reptilian alien slavers! The reptiles quickly sold her to a more primitive species that were more humanoid but looked a bit like red-skinned demons. The downside for Giselle was the fact that her new masters viewed her as a sexy pet!

It was weird, and a strange mix between gritty and kinky, but it was a pretty fun tale. I liked Giselle. She was a strong lead. I took a bit more time to warm to the authoritarian Kagan but I did feel like he grew positively over the course of the story so that made the relationship easy to root for.

I’ll read the next book for sure since the end of this one set up the next instalment.

Rating: 3.5 stars.

Audio Notes: No official audio so I used the Eleven Reader text-to-speech app. Used the Jessica voice. Definitely the best text-to-speech software on the market. Though not a match for true professional narration.

"I don't think so." Giselle shouted.

That sentence is only 2% into the story (or should I say those sentences?) and it is an accurate sampling of the writing and of how I felt. This needs an editor! I did not finish this because on almost every page I was distracted by errors.

So history teacher Giselle is abducted by aliens and sold as a pet. I had pretty low hopes for this book but it was better than expected. Giselle takes everything in her stride and evolves from helpless, small, soft pet into kickass warrior who thinks up how to win a war whilst saying right on quotes from ‘The Art of War’. I found this novel. Giselle does seem to be extra special at everything but who looks for reality in an alien abduction adventure?

So yeah, she’s cool and upbeat and totally into her master Kagan. She manages to change his opinions about pets and slavery and get herself a hot, dirty talking ruler with a tail.

Yeah, the tail features...

They also do it on a horse in public. So yeah, don’t go in looking for reality.

Very light BDSM but not enough to write home about.

I had this book on my TBR list forever and I’m sorry I didn’t read it sooner. It is a great story! For any who have triggers heed the trigger warnings. Interesting new world with lots of action (both the physical and the spicy variety 🔥❤️‍🔥🌶️). Really loved the strength and intelligence of the main female character! In real life, I think few of us would react the way she did faced with such dire circumstances, but that is exactly why I liked it. Reading is after all a way to temporarily be taken, safely, away from our current reality and I thoroughly enjoy the stories where women are strong even in their weakness. The thought that you could use your knowledge and skills to help yourself and those around you is awesome! It’s intriguing to see what will happen next.

Not my favorite alien abduction book.
Did Giselle have a family or friends, she doesn't once mention or miss them.

Kagan and Giselle were hot together but once the relationship started I lost interest. Too much emphasis on the war and it seemed Giselle knew everything and the warriors knew nothing. She teaches them battle tactics and they are SO impressed...not very believable.

Can’t believe I’m gonna say this, but this was so unrealistic 🤣 fmc was so extraverted and fearless that I just couldn’t relate one bit. Also, it’s very obvious that the author wrote this for herself as herself in the mc role

2.5 Stars. I wanted to like this book, I really did. But, this book.... Uhh... *Sigh*

First of all, this book needs a really good editor. There are so many mistakes in it. Commas and full-stops are missing. Words are missing. It was all a mess.

Now, let's talk about the things that didn't make sense in the story.

I hope the author's other books are better than this one because this one was abysmal.
