There are thousands of books on inspirational stories; but this one would definitely have a special place in my heart. I had heard Kevin speak a couple of times even before I knew he was going to publish a book, and boy I was blown away by his energy. My first reaction on listening to him was that I would love to hear more from him, and lucky me! I got a chance to do exactly that. And I think there is definitely something special in the words of a first time author. Personally, I think all these factors lent more authenticity to his words, and made his stories more relatable.
As far as the actual review of the book is concerned, this is the kind of book that one must read at least twice and ruminate over in order to process it - carry the good parts, and throw away the not so good ones. So I will defer critiquing it until that second read.
It is outstandingly inspirational.. Thank you for sharing your journey it is insightful full of adventures and endurance the least to say .. Finding purpose after each hardship was so uplifting and reminds us to be grateful .. Keep going .. Personally loved the notion at the end with the list of fifty things to do before fifty and documenting it in a photo album .. you have a lovely caring family .. Its something to look forward to .. To gratitude and living a better life !!
Outstanding, timely read especially towards the end of 2020 when the world is facing a global pandemic and people are in low spirits. Having watched the Pixar movie Soul recently, this is a fantastic complement that continues the theme of how to live the life you want.
Delaney structures the book into five main sections with smaller chapters within each. I especially liked how quick the read was since there were many short yet powerful examples weaved into the themes. Highly motivating and I've already started recommending to people! On the top of the list for gifts and a great book that I'll definitely be rereading each year.
I met Kevin a couple of years ago and could personally see his keynote about living purposefully, called The Innovation of You. Even though his book overlaps some things I already heard, Kevin does not fail to deliver inspiration. This book is well structured, very easy to read and tells many stories about different kinds of purpose in life, from his own lifetime stories to well known celebrities, from different angles and spectrums, I challenge you to read it and tell me it hasn't changed the way you see life from here forward.
It took me a while to finish this book (I am a slow reader), but Kevin John Delaney asks some thought provoking questions in this book that made me pause and think. 1) If you found a magic lamp, and the genie offered you the life of your dreams, would you be able to describe it? 2) What are you doing with your one wild and precious life? And my favorite 3) When life feels it's falling apart, I try to remember that I am not good at knowing what will work out well and what won't. I try to remind myself that it all works out. May be not how I imagined it, but it works out.
Kevin Delaney's story hits you in the gut and fills your mind with hope. He challenges you to examine your life, your dreams, your hopes, and make them amazing. I've just finished a read-through and am ordering a physical copy I intend to make dog-eared and worn. Because it's not about him. It's about making the most of your one wild and unrepeatable life.
Wow! This has been one of the best books I have read this year as an avid reader (300 books yearly). It has brought so much Hope & inspiration to my heart & it should be a mandatory read every year. Thank you Kevin for this legendary masterpiece !
