Hunter: The Complete Novel

Rate this book
Hunter is just a businessman who's found his niche -- men. Good-looking men that he will provided to a network, which will then offer them to a very wealthy, very exclusive clientele. That these men are usually straight and unwilling is beside the point. He takes great joy in fulfilling orders that come his way, because it includes him testing each prospect ot make certain he will meet the client's specifications. However, his greatest pleasure is derived from handling special orders, where he has to track down and capture a man who has been specifically chosen, no matter what the cost.

All goes well until Hunter runs up against a young soldier named Vermin. Then things spiral out of control, and the hunter now wonders if he is the one being hunted.

I am a writer and self-involved artist who’s lived in London and Honolulu, and a dozen places in-between. I’ve also traveled around the world, and some of my artwork has been purchased by collectors.

I used to write screenplays and have won numerous awards for them...despite none being produced. That’s how "A Place of Safety" began life—as an idea for one, twenty-five years ago. But it deepened and expanded and changed direction and became the life of an Irish Catholic boy during the Troubles in Northern Ireland. I’m currently working on a gothic horror novel dealing with an ancient tale of harpies that live in the caves of the Cliffs of Moher, on Ireland’s far west coast.

In my writing, I’ve tried to build characters as vivid and real as possible and have a lot of fun doing it...mixed with angst, anger, amazement…and sometimes vicious arguments with the characters in each book. I like to think I’ve done well by them.

My books are available through Amazon, B&N, BAM!, Powell’s Books, and your local independent book shop.

On the edge of my seat, truly terrified to read another word, but thoroughly unable to resist turning the page, Kyle Michel Sullivan held me spellbound with Hunter. Mr. Sullivan does suspense spectacularly well, and the pace he maintains while he sets the stage for this thriller is gut-churningly delicious. This novel put me through the wringer, and I’d do it all again tomorrow.

If you’re just dipping your toes into kidnapping erotica, fasten your seatbelt and gird your loins, because this is not a romance. The rape scenes are descriptive and darkly erotic, and Kyle Michel Sullivan outdoes himself with the character study of the protagonist. But what really blew my mind, and kept me coming back for more, is the riveting storyline in Hunter.

The plot is intricate and complex, and even after reading it through a second time, I’m still trying to unravel some of the finer points of the double-dealing and subterfuge. Layers and layers of deception and deceit, and just when it’s looking bleakest for the hero, there’s a clever twist with a perfectly jaw dropping outcome.

There’s no way to do him justice here, but the man known as ‘Hunter’ in this story is completely terrifying. We plunge deep into the way his mind works, how factors in his upbringing and events from his life propelled him into this career. A sociopath with hints of a conscience, and a master manipulator with a smidge of integrity, he’s handsome and charming, and he truly could be the guy next door.

Hunter’s been living the high life, but his successful business starts to unravel when he gets greedy and begins satisfying his kidnapping and rape fantasies with regular guys. These victims are not prison inmates, or men involved in any nefarious activities, just regular guys simply walking home one afternoon. Literally, men who happen to be in the wrong place at exactly the right time. The spree comes to a spectacular end, and Hunter is forced by the higher powers to drop everything and relocate.

Hunter’s suspicions that there’s way more going on are confirmed when the tables turn and he finds himself in the role of sex slave. Treated to an inside look at the harm he’s done brings an attack of conscience, and Hunter makes an effort to right some of the wrongs he’s committed. Of course, he’s a very clever man, and his plans are in place to ensure he comes out on top.

Kyle Michel Sullivan’s writing style is smooth and a pleasure to read, which helps during the most horrific scenes. The length, detail, and brutality of the sex scenes is not for the faint of heart, and the extra stories included at the end of Hunter are even more macabre.

Hunter is my second book by Kyle Michel Sullivan and I’m hooked. I’ve purchased all of his novels and I’m looking forward to reading them. I’m especially intrigued to explore his earlier work, which the author himself describes as “sunshine and light”. Maybe once I’ve exhausted my stash of his darker stuff, I’ll take the plunge.

Hunter is a capitalist who takes it to its logical extreme -- capturing men to sell as sex slaves. He's part of a secret global Network that caters to an extreme and very wealthy clientele, and he's a real success. But step by step he starts to wonder if he's being set up to be the next guy put in the Network's catalogue...or worse...but that never gave Hunter cause for concern.

This book combines sex, violence, MM non-con, straight to gay, insolence, forced pleasure, and bondage (not BDSM) while also skewering capitalism, racism, greed and our corrupt legal system. It even has a bathroom sink thrown in...as Hunter slowly realizes maybe this line of work isn't one he should be in, even if it is making him rich.

Just to let everyone know -- books 1, 2 and 3 of Hunter are available in ebook (for $.99 each, through Smashwords), with book 4 due out October 30th, and the paperback with all four books and an extra section is due out November 6th (@ $14.95).

4.5 stars rounded up, and I will immediately get what I didn't like out of the way first: I spotted at least 4 spelling or punctuation errors while reading. It's not enough to knock off a star in my opinion, but I'm not a stickler for grammar.

Okay!! Now the GOOD stuff. Hunter is, hands down, the best anti-hero I've come across. There is no motivational-posters' fluff and bundles of joy here. Prepare to have your moral and ethical compass smashed to the grounds. Hunter is an observant, intuitive, and ruthless criminal. The books follow his journey in various cities around the world as he makes his big bucks working for the Network; an underground group of mega-rich elites who are interested in literally buying human beings. For Hunter, he specializes in kidnapping men for money.

I would say these books are not for the faint of heart, and not for those uninitiated to the dark side. I was scared to root for Hunter, and was even more scared of those he struggles against. Unfortunately, there is no romance in these books. But in the end, I saw redemption and friendship. Definitely a wild ride. Definitely sticks with me, and I am now A LOT more weary of walking by myself in the dark!

OMG. Currently reading this. Will probably update my review once I finish it. This book is EXACTLY what I was after. It ticks almost every single box I was looking for. Only thing is I would’ve LOVED to have some of the explicit noncon alluded to off page be included and described by the MC so badly. But I understand that the author needs to make this accessible to wider audiences as possible and that level of detail would definitely limit the book’s reach. But big props to the author for going there, even if it is only off page.

I’d read his How to Rape a Straight Guy and it was just as hot and well written, only there seems to have been more on page noncon happening.

I hope this story shares some on page noncon, because the author is amazing at making the reader fee everything they’re not supposed to…

This is probably one of the darkest reads I’ve read. Haunted my dang dreams. It is not a romance. It is a dark and twisted story about Hunter, literally hunting men between the ages of 20-35, sexually assaulting or raping them and selling them into sexual slavery. Several times he becomes the hunted but he is smart and thinks on his feet. It is an amazing dark read that is more twisted than I was expecting. It had me in tears…especially surrounding some of the victims. It was heartbreaking but definitely shows the true ugly, underbelly of this world.
