This novella was so extreme it gave me the shivers. However, the author's talent at drawing the reader into her stories kept me glued to the pages. I had to find out the gruesome fate of each and every character. I look forward to reading much more of Elizabeth Bedlam's work.
This was an uncomfortable and dark story, but it's Bedlam so that's not a shocker. Bedlam's writing is descriptive, but not repetitive. She writes this story so well, even I as a male reader, was uncomfortable.
A terrifying STD makes lesbians feel like ants are crawling inside their vaginas. The itching makes them crave for large cocks. Yes, that is the premise of this short story. Dangerous art, where the artist reveals her true self is always very satisfying. The internet, the last bastion of free speech is going to unleash all kinds of sick fantasies, earlier reigned in by the gatekeepers, onto the public. The perverts of this world will feel refreshed in the knowledge that there are others like them out there.
Meet Ali, she thinks that she may have a problem...
A sweet little tale all about female fun, and not so fun, from down under.
‘Cause and effect’ - well, let me assure you that there’s sure plenty effective scraping going on to satiate the taste of all avid horror story readers in this delightful, compact little package - enough to almost make the skin just...crawl.
Very enjoyable and well constructed - Fortuna favours the brave!
Highly recommended. Rating: 4.3 itchy little red stars.
Oh, well then, this was certainly something. My balls have not stopped itching since I finished this. Well-written, straight-to-it with no filler. I highly respect anyone who can successfully pull off a story like this. The author has an uncanny knack for making the reader not only feel uncomfortable, but to sickly enjoy the discomfort. And now, on to the next title from Elizabeth Bedlam.
An intimate body horror story infused with Bedlam’s trademark humor – dry, subtle, and darker than the depths of the Mariana Trench.
Cat Scratch Fever tells the short and bloody – or should I say itchy – story of two lovers, Alice and Mia, whose lives – and bodies – are about to be irrevocably changed by a dose of Cat Scratch Fever, a mysterious and terrifying malady whose unfortunate symptoms are far too graphic to include in a Goodreads review.
As usual Bedlam’s prose is smooth and easy to read. Her compositions have a stark beauty to them, like a winter landscape or a good black and white photograph. As usual there’s no fat on the story; the pace is brisk, the drama immediate. Subtle touches of dark humor are enough to make the reader grin or chuckle, whilst the scenes of extreme body horror are more likely to make one cringe in sympathetic horror – irrespective of their anatomy.
Another great story from Bedlam, the coolest writer in the world :)
