Martin's family is a his older brother killed in action, his aunt slowly slipping into dementia, and his father willing to sell his soul for another fix. So when he's introduced to his first physical therapy patient at the local VA hospital, Martin can't help but wonder if this is the straw that will break his own back.
Because it's Taggart Coulson. Gorgeous, but cruel. The bully who made his life hell in high school. And the bitter man who's mourning the life he used to lead before an IED took his leg, his mental health, and his sense of purpose.
Taggart feels broken - and Martin does, too. But when the sparks flying between them refuse to be put out, can these two wounded men find the healing they need... in each other?
Grudge is the final book in the Virtue & Vice series, but this out for you romance can also be read as a stand alone novel! Grudge was previously published under the title Honor.
I DNF pretty fast and I was thinking not to rate it but I will rate it until all authors who never had to deal with a bully in their life understand that when a bully hits you, calls you horrible names and makes your high-school years a nightmare you don’t get aroused while he torments and hits you . You don’t lust for your bully .. You probably have nightmares, wet the bed and need a therapist..It’s one thing to redeem an adult ex bully who tries to make amends for the past (though that’s also pretty unlikely, if you ask me ) and another thing is to make the victim pop a boner while being harassed and tormented. Stop turning bullies into superheroes . And what’s worse is that Martin is still meek and scared and the bully is still an asshole even after some years.. Don’t know if it’s a debut novel or not but it’s pretty bad.. And maybe I’m wrong but I have a feeling this is nothing more than erotica ., I wish they stop labeling erotic books as romance , they really are different.
Life gets complicated when you grow up. The challenges are constantly swirling around waiting for a chance to complicate daily responsibilities and require more commitment to doing what needs to be done to take better care of family and friends.
The events of life are stepping stones on the path to love that are not always predictable or enjoyable, but they do guide you into the relationship that is what you really want and need. People change as they discover more the important things and learn to love the teasing and attention of that perfect partner.
I love myself a good old bully trope, and the foundation was definitely there in this book, but the execution was not - how to put it - "worthy" of a bully trope.
🤍Bully, enemies - to - lovers

We don't get enough info on Martin and Taggart's past, where Taggart was Martin's bully in high school. We needed a little more angst there, a little more build up to the present moment.
When they finally see each other again, Taggart lost his leg in Iraq and Martin is his physical therapist and right until they have sex for the first time, I was pretty much sold, but the development of the relationship didn't really do it for me.
It was too ... bland?
They get a really good HEA and there is an epilogue, but I just don't really feel the couple and I wasn't invested in their happy ending.
I think the authors should have deepened the story, just a liiiiittle bit more, and we'd get a 5* book.
Sad to see the series come to an end but it was very enjoyable. In books with a bully like this I always assume it's because they're closeted. When Tag finally figured out how to deal with being gay and having feelings for Martin he turned into a super sweet guy. I definitely think Grunt, the 3 legged dog, helped with his healing. Martin was also able to heal and come out on the other side. Great book. Great end to a great series.
4 stars I liked the whole series, especially this book. This is the story of Martin, a PT with a complicated family (aunt with dementia, brother killed in Iraq, drug addicted father) and Taggart (closeted gay Marine who lost his leg in the war). Martin and Tag have a difficult past, because Tag bullied Martin in high school.
Despite all their problems, they find a way to communicate, to get to know each other not letting their painful past to ruin their new relationship and eventually to love each other. Obviously, there are challenges to face, especially Aunt Janey's halth problem and Tag's future in the military.
A thing I particularly appreciated was Taggart's development: when . Bonus point for Grunt, the three legged dog! He's super sweet and adorable.
What prevented me of giving 5 stars: First: there's not enough mention of the past, it would have been nice to know more about . Second: when Martin and Tag .
Anyway, this is a very beautiful and emotional love story, I recommend this book and the others of this series.
