Rose Cartwright, a 21-year-old college student with her act together than most older adults, myself included. She is beautiful, caring, and intelligent. Rose is carrying the weight of her parents' divorce on her shoulders, and she made promises to herself about relationships. Well, that was before she met Ian Forrest, the middle linebacker with dark hair, eyes of steel, a smile that melts her heart, and oh, did I mention muscles with enough stamina to last at least four rounds.

OOOOKAY HOW LONG HAVE WE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS STORY? AGGEEESSSSS!
Having just read Arlo&Olivia’s story, I was vvvv excited about Rose and Ian’s. And I’m so surprised by the direction she took the story in, but I also love it. I’m also a much more petty/vengeful person than the characters here are, so my only complaint at this point in time is that they should’ve thrown the book at the other person.
Proper review when it’s not 5am.

5 Stars for this slow burn romance!
This series just keeps getting better and better. No one writes a slow burn better than Ms Dietz! I just loved Rose, she's full of sass and doesn't take crap from anyone. And then there's Ian ... I thought I loved Arlo from a previous book, but Ian has him beat. Ian is this mountain of a man who never smiles, but he's really just a big teddy bear with a heart of gold. Will Rose be able to forget her rules that she has protecting her heart and let Ian in? This book also has a mystery attached to it that will have you guessing till the end.
Rose was hurt by a precious boyfriend and now she only sleeps with a guy once and then she kicks him to the curb. But when she meets Ian, everything changes. Ian is in his senior year and he has to concentrate on football so he can be drafted into the NFL ... between classes and football, he doesn't have time for a relationship. But when he meets Rose, he knows he's in trouble ... big trouble. Ian and Rose have an instant chemistry ... they just don't know what to do with it. Then a website pops up siting rumors about the football players and whether they are true or not, these rumors can change their futures.
I can't wait for the next book Writing the Rules ... it's Pax's story. He has been in every book and in this book he's in serious trouble and I can't wait to see how his story unfolds. I highly recommend this book ... and the whole series!

I could not put this book down. This book has all the feels. So many parts of this book bring to light things a lot of readers may have felt at one point or another. Rose and Ian warm your heart and makes you believe in romance again with the right amount of sweet and sexy.
Rose’s sass and strength are something every woman could use a little more of and Ian is the strong man who is the definition of a gentleman every mother would strive their son to be and every father dreams their daughter finds.
Not only does it deliver a delicious romance, it digs deeper and shows characters dealing with inner demons while growing up in a world of social media and how stories can be bent and twisted to turn rumors and half truths into something worse.
There are highs and lows and keeps you engaged until the last page with not just the main characters getting a second chance. There are several offshoots in this book that are tied in really well and leave no open ends but help you to know the character’s layers better.
This book teaches you to not let fear and the unknown to determine your fate or rule your destiny. Fall in love with Rose and Ian, I know I did! I have loved every book in this series and they just keep getting better! I can’t wait for the next and last book of this series featuring Pax which we’ve gotten to know through these books.

This book, this couple, and specifically Rose, hold a special place in my heart and I could not have loved this book more!
Rose has a tough exterior but a kind heart, and I personally found her to be so relatable, feeling everything she felt. She wears a mask that hides her vulnerability...her rules in place so she doesn’t get hurt. As she tries to leave behind her rules, be a better person, and seek out something she never thought she’d have, circumstances keep getting in the way.
Ian is tired of respecting her stupid rules...he wants her to forget them and not regret it, not run. Liking Ian has Rose unsettled and wanting to run from the possibilities because he just might be the one to break down her wall built of rules!
Bullying, rumours, hateful words and having to deal with it all sends a very powerful message. The friendships in this series are true and loyal and something everyone should know they’re worthy of.
An impassioned love story with slow burn, witty banter, conflicted feelings, sizzling heat, and so much emotion...I was was tearing up, laughing, swooning, and totally invested!

I was lucky enough to win an ARC copy!! I was so excited to read about Rose and Ian’s story I have been anticipating reading this book since Olivia and Arlos’s story! It did not disappoint me, I had a love and hate relationship with the low burn of their love story but I appreciated why Mariah did that! Rose was written in a beautiful way I appreciated her willpower and willingness to talk about sex without same but also tackled the issues surrounding why women feel the need to hide their sexuality! I really loved the storyline about the rumour website and I loved that it had many surprising elements while also tackling a lot of pressing issues! Overall I really enjoyed this love story it was written so beautifully and I loved seeing other characters and couples from past books in this series! I cannot wait for the next book in the series which Paxton’s book I am a hardcore poppy and Paxton shipper but I honestly just want Paxton to be okay and happy so I’m super excited to read what Mariah has in store for us!

Forgetting the Rules is book 5 in the Dating Playbook series and I’m here for it! Each book in the series is a standalone but I can guarantee once you finish one you’ll consume the others just as quickly.
In Forgetting the Rules we follow Rose and Ian’s story. Fear can lead you to do some pretty dumb things and walking away when you feel the pull of attraction can be one of your biggest regrets.
Rose has watched too many people walk away so she has a nice set of rules to keep her heart safe. Ian can’t seem to forget Rose but with it being his senior year and possibly his last playing football he tries to get his head in the game.
When a series of events happen, Ian and Rose get pushed together. When lies and rumors start, they need to decide if keeping their well built walls around their hearts will stay up or come crashing down.
I love Ian and Rose’s story. I loved the message of how we should empower and support each other and not let the lies told behind a screen carry any weight.

Rose works for the school paper and was assigned the sports section, she knows nothing about sports. She has been trying to hide the feelings she still has for Ian, but its not as easy as she hoped. She broke things off with him cause she got scared that we was going away for a short while, after what happened with her parents she is leery of relationships.
Ian still have strong feelings for Rose even after she broke off what they once had while dating, but to stay friends. Ian helps Rose over come her fears, and both find eachother.
This was a good read. This was my first book by this author. This book can be read as a standalone or in its series order..

I absolutely loved Forgetting the Rules! I was so excited when I found out that Rose was getting her own book because I adored her in Olivia's. That being said, you can read this as a standalone novel but the other books are SO GOOD that it's totally worth it to start at the beginning and enjoy them all!!

One of my favorites in the series. This slow burner will have you falling right along with Rose and Ian. Rose has had a rough past, and it hinders her future. But as the book develops, so does Rose. She matures, she faces her past and Ian is right there to help her. Can be read as a standalone, but it is part of a series.

I didn’t think I could fall anymore in love with these character!! Ian and Rose’s story was everything I could I’ve ever imagined and more! Once I started I couldn’t put it down and now I am heartbroken that it is over! If I could give this book (or the entire series) more than 5 starts I would!!

If you are a fan of excellent slow burns, this is the perfect book for you. Rose is a strong female character who is over having her heart broken. She is anti-relationship and a girl who is just wanting to have fun. Ian is the jock linebacker who is focused on his game. He is hard on the outside, but a real teddy bear. These characters will pull you into the story and keep you up way past your bedtime!

Forgetting The Rules is the fifth book in the series and can be read as a stand-alone.
This book took me a minute to get into. I love college sports romances so I didn’t want to give up on it. There was a lot of back story that I thought could have been left out or shortened at least. Overall, I enjoyed this story. I really enjoyed the characters so that kept me interested. The romance part of the story is a slow burn but doesn’t disappoint when we finally get to it.
We meet Rose who’s in her senior year of college. She’s working on building her yoga studio empire but also is a journalist for the college newspaper. Rose is assigned to cover all the sports including Brighton’s football team. Rose’s friend and roommate is dating one of the players so she’s gotten to know the team. Including Ian Forrest whom she has a past with. The two have a complicated but intense relationship. They’re brought together when someone starts posting false rumors and pictures about the team. They work together to stop it and flip the script on the person spreading the rumors.
Rose is a great character. She is strong willed, determined and knows what she wants. That is so refreshing to have in a lead female character. Rose also is kind, sweet and would do anything for her friends. I loved how even though she was guilted into helping volunteering a park clean up, she bonds with a teenage girl and becomes a positive influence for her. Ian was amazing too. Even though he struggled with his feelings at first with Rose. Ian was the backbone for the team and definitely a true leader. And I loved his hidden talent, it gave his character more depth other than just being a football player.

This is one book you won't forget about easily a powerful slow burn 2nd chance love story with a suspense element that took to the end of the book for me to work it out! Well done Mariah Dietz in producing a really good sports romance with an edge to it. A series that just keeps getting better and better!

I loved how Ms Dietz captured what was really going on with Rose why loosing her mom, her dad not being there and then betrayal by her ex set her on a path that wasn't necessary who she really was inside but still managed for us the reader not to loss sight of this strong driven young woman!
Now 9 months on Ian is back and the final year of college has commenced all eyes are on the prize for the men to end the season on a football high some to be drafted into the NFL...but someone has other ideas and when old pics and fabrication from incidents in their past start showing up on the internet things are about to get a whole lot worse and as Rose and Ian start to rebuild their relationship someone decides the next target on the list is Rose! Will this send Rose back on the path she was taking 9 months ago or will she finally understand she can be anything she wants to be!

Waiting out her rules, while they dance around their feelings would have turned a lesser man off, but Ian has decided that there is still hope for them. But this school year has its own slate of distractions and burdens he feels ill-equipped to carry without the added responsibility of a relationship. Can he convince Rose that breaking all the rules will be worth it in the end?
Ian is the perfect complement to Rose's worrywart personality. He is patient, considerate & understanding even when Rose overthinks to extremes. He knows just what to do to calm her nerves, as well as show her how he feels. Their romance, once it begins to flow, seems almost easy.
Mariah Dietz succeeded in making me wish for a man I could communicate with and understand completely simply by looking at him. I also enjoyed the mystery sub-plot woven through the main story arc. It was well done.

If you love a good second chance, college sports romance read, then Forgetting the Rules is the book you need to add to your TBR now. Although this is book 5 in the series, it can be easily read as a standalone without any problems. I can guarantee though that you will want to go back and read the other books in the series to get the backstories of Rose and Ian's friends.
Rose Cartwright works for the school paper. Ian Forrest is on the football team and it's his last year to try and get drafted into the NFL, something he's been working on for a long time. Ian and Rose have a past, both thinking that they were headed somewhere until Ian had to leave for the summer and the two drifted apart. Now that it's their senior year, Rose finds herself assigned to the football team to get a more in-depth story on the team which means spending more time with the one person she's been trying to avoid. Both of them still have feelings for each other and besides, Rose has rules for dating and Ian definitely broke those rules, so she should just move on. Right?

Oh I just loved both Ian and Rose. I just kept waiting for them to get together. These two were meant for each other. There were just so many walls up between them that I understand why it took so long for them to get together.
I loved Rose's strength and confidence. I didn't like her reasoning for her rules but I understood them. I also didn't like her friendship with Chantay. I loved, loved Ian. He was a great teammate and friend. He was strong, confident and he knew what he wanted and wasn't afraid to pull out all the stops.
I loved the way their romance developed. It was slow, with resistance at first, but it was developed in such a great way that I didn’t struggle with loving it. There was an actual story to it. I also loved the intrigue of the rumor site. I loved how the team handled it near the end and Roses final words.

Forgetting the Rules by Mariah Dietz is a slow burn romance with an intense connection and steamy chemistry. Ian and Rose were great together but Rose has rules she does not break when it comes to guys and romance. But Ian begins to blur the lines she has set. He knows he wants her, but can he convince her of that? Can they see what they share before it’s too late? I absolutely loved their story. Their journey was not easy, but I loved watching them come together. I devoured their story and cannot wait for the next book in the series!

I'm loving on this book so hard. To start Ian was just my type. Big and imposing but with the sweetest heart, this man had me constantly swooning. I liked Rose and felt for her but how she could manage to resist Ian boggled my mind! LOL The storyline was beautifully written and it had me engaged and invested. This may be a slow burn romance but the sizzling chemistry is fierce and front and center. It all comes together into a really wonderful book that was powerful, emotional and a genuine pleasure to read. This is my frank, freely posted review.

Ahhh Rose and Ian. How I have waited for your story and let me tell you, Dietz did not disappoint with you two! I adore that this is a slow burn second chance romance. There is a lot of push and pull between these two and so much feels! You delve into their fears and their connection and I could not put it down once I started.
While this book can be read as a standalone, I totally recommend reading the other series. This one really hits you hard with all the feels! It has just the right amount of sassy banter, sizzling passion and so much more.

I loved this book. Once I started reading it I could not put it down. Ian and Rose are an amazing characters. Ian is a football player just focusing on his team and school. He doesn't have time for relationships so he does friendships. Rose has been hurt really bad before so she doesn't do relationships. She does the one night stands. That is until she meets Ian and all bets are off and the two will go through some serious drama.
What will happen to these two? Will they become a couple or will they be a one night stand?

Rose and Ian’s love story is definitely a slow burn with some love-hate mixed in. Rose was hurt in the past so it makes her hesitant to trust anyone with her heart, so she made rules for herself and relationships. In walks Ian and the lines become blurred for her. She’s forced into a situation and she puts her rules aside and let’s herself be vulnerable to Ian and others. Cute book and can’t wait for more.
