My best friend is the hit I never saw coming….

Months away from playing in the NHL, one night with my best friend changes everything. She was the one girl I could talk to without thinking of sex. The one person I could trust. Until I fell in love with her, and she kept a secret from me that ripped us apart.

Now in the NHL, I’m one step closer to becoming the star I was born to be... until Kat’s brother hits me with the news I never saw coming. She’s pregnant with my baby, and he rearranged my face on the ice to get the message across.

One night was all it took to change our lives. Now, it’s up to Kat and me to decide if we can salvage our friendship to find our happily ever after.

Dean is the sixth standalone novel in the international bestselling Face-Off hockey romance series. You do not have to read the books in order to enjoy this steamy friends to lovers sports romance.

The moment Kat and Dean met they became fast friends, having hockey in common it brought them together and bonded them, gave them something to hold onto. But then one night things took an interesting, an unexpected, turn when Kat asked Dean to be her first, at first he wanted to tell her no, because he was afraid it would ruin all that they built between one another... but then the thought of her sharing it with someone else damn near killed him. They tried really hard to not let it change things, but it did, it brought them closer, more dependent on one another, and brought about feelings that neither of them expected... love! Now they are facing their graduation and going their separate ways, and the thought of not sharing everyday with one another like they have for the last four is heartbreaking for both of them. Will they find a way to keep this love alive or will they let it slip through their fingertips?

More Than Friends is a solid romance read, loaded with heart, emotion, and some toe curling romance that is sure to leave your cheeks permanently pink... I loved every minute of it! With each new read I devour from this author, the more impressed I become, she always produces such well rounded sports reads that give me just what I'm looking for and a whole lot more. This story was exceptional it had a touch of innocence that spoke to me, one that gave the story line a very plausible and touching feel, it hit me straight in the heart and moved me! I highly recommend you meet these two their special story is sure to give you the feels and leave you moved...and warm up your tablet too!

This is a rewrite of Jillian Quinn’s More than Friends series, from 2017. I did read the original back in 2017. In this rewrite we do have updates / improvements.

We have Kate Baldwin, who is the daughter of Nick Baldwin, a famous NHL hockey player. Kate has four hockey playing brothers. She also played at the college level, always moved just as well as the boys.

Her best guy friend, Dean Crawford, is on the men’s college hockey team, and he’s also roommates / housemates, with Kate’s twin brothers, and a few other members of the hockey team. Dean has always liked Kate more than just a friend, but he was always worried about Messi g up their friendship, by wanting more from her.

Now that graduation is approaching, Kate isn’t sure where this might leave her and Dean. As she will be going to Chicago, and since the NHL draft hasn’t happened yet Dean isn’t sure where he will wind up. Hopefully close to each other, is what they are both secretly hoping for.

Will Kate and Dean be able to move from friends to boyfriend/girlfriend? Will they be able to work through a long distance romance?

I did receive a free ARC copy of this book. I am freely leaving an honest review.

Dean and Kat have been best friends for years but Dean is secretly in love with her. Frightened to tell her and spoil their amazing friendship but also terrified of her brothers finding out and not approving Dean continues to be there for Kat. But as graduation nears they both start to wonder what if? So one night together is inevitable but are they both prepared for the consequences?
I loved Dean, he was a real sweetheart..... Kat I struggled with, the way she dealt with her news and went about announcing it wasn’t quite right to me but that’s only my opinion.
As usual Ms Quinn delivers some great characters and some flashes of brilliant humour throughout. I really enjoyed meeting the Baldwin clan and look forward to being introduced to the lady that calms Dukes temper😉
I received an arc from the author and I am choosing to leave a review

Dean and Kat's story started out a bit iffy for me, I didn't 'feel' the connection even as best friends, so I thought I wouldn't enjoy the book. I was wrong, it got better and I did enjoy it much more than the previous book in the series, Ethan. I loved that there was a connection with some of the other characters in the series, even if they weren't mentioned a lot.

Dean Review

Dean and Kat are a wonderful couple. A best friend/brothers friend romance start with Kat and Dean in college and changes with an unexpected surprise.

A great tie in with the other books in the series while building excitement for the Baldwin Family.

Over a great read.

Recycled material but still a good read.

Previously released as More Than Friends. Written in dual first person POV. There are a few sexy scenes and a little humor. No angst. No tears. Can be read as a standalone (few characters from the previous books are mentioned and you don’t need to know their backstories). Like the book Ethan, the author took a previously released book and repurposed it into the Face-Off world by adding a couple of scenes (or changing a few names). I’m not sure if this book is supposed to take place before or after Ethan but it seems like this book’s main purpose was to introduce Kat’s brothers who will star in a spin-off series. The plot is fine and it’s a quick read but the ending felt rushed. Besides the rushed ending, I wish that the author would have included a notation in the book description that this book was previously released under another title so that I would have known that I already read it. It just doesn’t sit well with me that the author said that she was going back and continuing the original Face-Off series and then the two “new” books that she releases aren’t actually new.

4.5 stars

This is a rewrite of Jillian Quinn’s More Than Friends series. I did read the original story when it came out in 2017 and I think this rewrite is an overall improvement. Kat Baldwin is the daughter of an NHL legend and is the only girl in the family of five. Her mother died when she was young, and her four hockey playing brothers are overly protective. She met Dean Crawford , star hockey player, their freshman year and became best friends. As graduation draws closer, they have a hard time fighting their attraction to each other. Dean and Kat are likable characters, and the change from friends to lovers was entertaining. While most of the changes improved the story, the problem that eventually caused a potential rift made more sense in original book and in this version seemed like a serious overreaction from an otherwise likable character (hence a 4.5 rather than a 5 star rating). I received an ARC of this book from the author for my honest review.

Everyone will definitely be swooning over Dean. Dean Crawford is a hockey player and has idolized Nick Baldwin his whole life and knowing Nick’s daughter is attending the same college as him, he has too meet her. Dean sees Kat and is so nervous, they talk, hang out and now are best friends. Kat and Dean’s feelings start too change but both don’t want too ruin their friendship. But one night changes everything. I love Dean & Kat together, you can feel their emotions they go through as you read and can’t help to get a little teary-eyed. I love all the Baldwin brothers and so excited to hear they are all getting their own book.

Kat and Dean have been best friends since freshman year at Strickland University. . Dean is the hot shot hockey player and Kat not only plays for the women's team her Dad is a hockey legend.. Graduation party and Kat and Dean are wondering what it would be like if they kissed.. Add some alcohol and a dare and well.. Sparks fly but neither wants to ruin their friendship plus Kat's brothers will not be happy at all. But when you fall in love with your best friend it could be the best thing ever, right?

I loved this updated version of Jillian’s More Than Friends book.
I just want to sigh loudly and wish that I actually had a Dean in my life. What an amazing character he was. I thought Kat was so very lucky to have found someone as special as him.
This best friends to lovers book was so easy to read I found it hard to put down. Then add in the minor characters that added so much to the story I know I will go slightly mad if I have to wait too long for a Baldwin brothers book.

What happens when best friends cross that line? Dean has loved Kat since freshman year at college, but she comes with draw backs, first her dad is his hockey idol, and she has big hockey playing brother, something he's not ready to cross. But when graduation looms and the possibility of the NHL Draft, it's now or never. Dean is one of Kat's best friend, he's never pushed the line, she's never really thought about it either but when a dare leads to a kiss, can they come back from it? Fun storyline, plenty of great characters, a real entertaining read.

Dean and Kat's story is so lovable.

Dean and Kat have been friends since their freshman year in college. Hockey is a big part of their lives. She is a Baldwin. Her family are all hockey players. Her brothers don't believe they are just friends. They are until the end of their senior year. Love has always been there but they never reacted on it too it hits them that college is over and who knows where each will go. Love the ups and downs with them, her family and his teammates/frat brothers. Cute, loving story. Love the Baldwins.

Dean and Kat's story is a real winner. This friends to lover romance pulls you in quickly and has you fully invested and rooting for this couple. This well written story has a really realistic flavor to it that I found very appealing. Drama, emotional turmoil, sweetness and steamy heat are combined to create a tempting blend that will totally have you swooning while your heart melts. I am electing to post a sincere review.

Another fan-freaking-tastic book from Jillian Quinn. I loved Dean and Kat's story. Best friends for years, although Dean is head over heels in love with Kat and she doesn't know it. After a dare that changes everything they struggle to get back to where they were. Distance and tension put a strain on their relationship but their connection/chemistry is too strong. You get all the humor, slow burn that leads to a wonderful HEA and 4 over protective brothers. Definitely unputdownable!!!!

I would so love to give this more than 5 star's this book was oh so good. Jillian makes it so hard to find that one special guy who stands out in a crowd, but I'd have to say Dean has that awww appeal he is such a sweetheart who just so happens to be in love with his best friend Kat and who's brother's are Dean's hockey team mates oh yeh this made things interesting. I absolutely loved these 2 Dean and Kat. This is definitely a one click story
