Not a great counting book. Has number words, no numerals, and no one-to-one correspondence to objects.

Lots of 1-2-3-4 in cases when there aren't just 4 things to count.

"1-2-3-4. Touch your nose."
"1-2-3-4. Cutie charms."
"1-2-3-4. Making wishes."

So, it's about learning 1-2-3-4 as a sequence of numbers, but not really learning what those words mean.

However, great pictures of parents and baby playing together -- belly kisses, etc. So, wonderful images of loving family.

Beginning with a quote from Martin Luther King, Jr. about love, COUNT TO LOVE! is a cute poem that encourages counting to L-O-V-E (1-2-3-4). With short and sweet phrases, the book encompasses baby fun with counting on fingers and toes, belly kisses, and simple messages of adoration. With colorful images of adorable babies and their parents, this is a book that is great for infants.

What I loved: The simple but lyrical text makes these rhymes roll off the tongue and both fun to listen to and read aloud. The board book is relatively short, which is great for the youngest of attention spans and works well for infants and young toddlers. The colorful and adorable images of infants with their parents are also great for young readers, who will love seeing the other babies.

Final verdict: A sweet board book with a message of love, COUNT TO LOVE! is a cute, colorful, and fun rhyming story, perfect for infants and young toddlers.

Please note that I received an ARC. All opinions are my own.

Babies and toddlers need snuggle time and what better way than with the board book Count to Love by Andrea Davis Pinkney and Brian Pinkney. Parents count along with their children as they count fingers, toes, legs and arms. The gentle rhymes and tender illustrations in this book will please baby and adults alike. Ages 0 – 3

How to entertain an infant with love and touch by counting from 1 to 4 and spelling L-O-V-E out loud one letter at a time.

Starting with a quote from Martin Luther King, Jr.: “I have decided to stick with love,” the Pinkneys' board book shows how to introduce words, spelling and numbers to an infant, using African American parents and their cute little baby as illustrations.

Sweet baby book aimed at babies and young children. Older children will likely tire of this book as it’s quite basic. The book provides opportunities to count, name body parts and talk about Martin Luther King Jr. The illustrations are charming. This makes a great gift!

I was hoping for a little more storyline wise, personally, so 3 stars from me. But 2.5 year old really liked it (and she's the target audience for this book so her opinion matters more). So I would say 4 stars from her.

This is not a counting book, but a rhyming love story that allows for engaging arms and fingers and toes, and it works well for that.

Created by a married couple who rhymed with their babies.

It's a sweet book, although not really a counting book as implied by the title. But a nice cuddle story nonetheless.

Text is not coherent for me in this one, but I liked other Bright Brown Baby books.
