Troy Alexander is sex on a stick and every girl’s dream at John Rushmore University. He’s also the bane of my existence.
Our meet-cute wasn’t exactly cute. He called me a nerd, and I accused him of slacking off on the field. Now, we have to live together.
I’m supposed to try to play nice to keep a roof over my head. Not in my nature. Our arrangement could be a living hell, but slowly, I realize the worst thing he ever did wasn’t calling me names. It was making me see there’s more to him under the surface. And now, I’m screwed.
*Heart Stopper is an enemies-to-lovers college sports standalone romance filled with banter, pranks, and off the charts chemistry that will make you swoon.

The heroine:Charlie Fontaine - works on the Rushmore college newspaper with her best friend Blake, whom she dated in high school. They work much better as best friends since there was no chemistry between them. She is big into LARPing with her friends and younger brother.
The Hero:Troy Alexander - quarterback of the Rushmore Rebels, he feels responsible for the death of his brother and is focused on protecting his shy sister Jane from his mother who tends to break her down whenever she talks to Jane. Troy’s head just hasn’t been in the game lately and his performance on the field has suffered.
The Story: When Charlie is sent to interview Troy for the paper, she asks the tough questions. Troy isn’t about to tell her his real reasons for not playing up to his usual standards, and walks out on the interview. Charlie hands in a scathing interview and the prank wars begin from there.
Teddy Hamilton and Michelle Sparks do the narration on this book that is told in dual points of view via dual narration. Teddy Hamilton is a terrific narrator who shows emotion and sarcasm well through his gravelly voice. Michelle Sparks has a clear feminine, youthful sounding voice which matches the spunky Charlie very well.
I liked that both of these characters care about their siblings, grandparents and friends so much. That makes you like them from the start, despite their actions toward each other which are not the nicest. The romance is good, the pranks are fun and the book is steamy in parts but not too smutty. This was a fun new adult sports romance.
✨ “He is a jock who enjoys extreme sports; I’m a nerd who gets excited by pretending to be a magical being on the weekends” ✨
First time reading something about this author and I’m happy I did.
This story was so funny , sexy and with a good amount of sweetness .
it‘s an enemies-to-lovers college sports romance with a male and a female sharing an apartment .
Two college students , a sexy football god and a nerd with a soft spot for epic revenges , then mix all together and you’ll have the perfect time bomb .
Their journey from enemy to lovers was an interesting one to watch . I loved Troy behavior whenever Charlie was around and his thoughts about her were so caring and sweet even if they weren’t even together .
The chemistry between them was all around the place . And when they finally give up to their instincts it was fire, passion and all kind of sweetness.
I loved how their differences brought them even closer . They simply started to adapt and pick up on each other interests , and that made them even more connected .
Also Charlie attention and unconditional love for her brother was mind-blowing , like Troy relationship with his sister Jane (who will have her own book soon) .
It surely was an enjoyable reading , with an interesting plot twist toward the end that I surely didn’t see coming .
Roommate romances are one of my favourite tropes to read. There's just so much angst and sexual tension going on, they always blow my mind!
And Heart Stopper has done just that! Imagine a sexy athlete, a witty journalist and the two of them meeting for the first time. Imagine a crash and burn first impression. And then try to imagine the two of them ending living up together as roommies.
The sparks were of the chart! Troy and Charlie! Wicked banter, hillarious pranks, tons of sexual tension *bites my fist*, and gorgeous personalities.
They were perfect together, but the world around them wasn't. Both of them having broken families and friends that were acting as pricks sometimes. Those jarring moments showed vonerability, and it was a beautiful thing to read. A bit heart-stopping.
The passion between Troy and Charlie was smokin hot! Heart Stopper was simply incredible! Can't wait for more.
It's written like someone telling you a second-hand story. No details or development, just someone narrating the absolute minimum necessary in order to get to the punchline. You get a bite-sized chunk of interaction before the author fast-forwards in time, provides a summary of what happened during that time, and follows it up with another nibble of actual content. Rinse and repeat.
The characters are absolute unfeeling cardboard cut outs. Their emotional range is limited to "slightly annoyed" and "weirdly turned on." Otherwise, things just... happen. For example, the MFC's apartment (conveniently) has a fire. Does she care to know why? Nope. Is she upset about it? Not at all. Does she have any opinion about the situation at all? Pretty much no.
3.5/5 ⭐ 2/5🔥 I had so much fun listening to the audiobook, laughing and cringing my way through it.😂 Bear in mind this is nothing different; it was more like relationship development type of romance book that had almost same plot but more vibes. ✨✨
I like Troy's character a lot; even though he was a sportsman and a heartbreaker, the way he handled his relationship with Charlie was really good. Charlie was mature and sometimes acted immature. I liked her too but not as much as troy 🧍🏽♀️
I loved every moment between them—the caring, cringy, funny, and sexy everything. I LOVED them. Both of them had issues going on within their own families, and I really liked how they handled the drama. I mean, I get the 'break' in the relationship, like it was bound to happen in the end, but I liked how it ended soon.
Their pranks were kind of bland, and that's what made them get closer to each other! Although I'm sad that the pranks didn't last as long as I wanted them to
o Lord, It was wonderful how Charlie looked out for his brother. I admired how, no matter what situation she was in, she always thought of her brother. Like how she cared for him when things weren't going well in her family. I also liked how troy was super overprotective of his sister , Jane; it felt so genuine. Ah, I can't wait to listen to his sister's book, and I also can't wait to see how Troy will lose his pants when he finds out Jane is with someone. 🤣🤣
I can't even tell you why I decided to read this book now. I was on audible buying another book that I have had on my KU forever and this one popped up as recommended. But I ignored it and grabbed the book I went on there for and 5 minutes in I couldn't handle the voices or get into the story so I went back and grabbed this and I am so happy I did. Michelle Hercules has a heap of books on my TBR but this is the first one I have read.
And it was perfect NA. I saw most of the twists coming but I was hanging on every word seeing how it was going to happen and how they were going to deal with the fall out from it. Both characters were likeable and had great development and I loved the banter and diversity of friends, family and hobbies. It made them feel very real and I couldn't put the book down. I'm 100% adding book 2 to the TBR mountain.

So freaking good!!! I was hooked from start to finish.
These two were made for each other even though they were complete opposites. I absolutely loved their chemistry and witty interactions. Although, not gonna lie I did want to punch Andy a few times 😆 but mostly I couldn’t help but keep a huge smile on my face while reading this.
I love taking a chance on a new-to-me author and Michelle did not disappoint. I can’t wait to read the second book. I’m assuming it’s of Andreas and Jane. So excited!!
Great sports romance. This author writes like Elle Kennedy or Ilsa Madden Mills. Funny and sarcastic enemies to lovers romance. Charlie and Troy end up sharing a house during school. Troy is a popular football player. Charlie is a pretty but nerdy larper. Opposites do attract in this story. Troy has a troubled past he never got over and they both find out they alot in common. Great writing by this author.
Omg this book was fantastic. God the pranks these two do to each other are priceless. I love Troy and Charlie’s chemistry. It’s not forced and doesn’t happen right away. Both of them have baggage and judge each other before knowing the person. All I can say is well done. This enemy to lovers romance got me hooked from start to finish.
I was really looking forward to this book because.....come on!!!!!! Its a nerd and a cocky jock!!!! However, these characters are so one dimensional and boring. Everything about the situations and characters are lukewarm. the ow (other woman) drama is luke warm, the jealous moments are lukewarm, the om drama is a snoozer. The pranks were lukewarm as well. Almost cold. I've read some pranks in books that had me CACKLING. this one had me roll my eyes and give them a good workout.
She kept blushing a deep pink if he just said something remotely sexxxxy or cute to her 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
They fight multiple times over the 4484747464618174632 chapters in this book and for dumb a$$hole reasons too. And the song "its a small world after all" applies here 😬🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
I will recommend this if you need to fall asleep though!.that's what happened while I was reading in the car line picking up my kids. I should have Dnfed 😭😭😭😭😂🙈
I devoured this book! I loved it so much! Charlie and Troy the chemistry and sexual tension *fans self* I loved minute of this book! It was so easy to read and every single character was great. I can't wait to see what is in store for the next couple 😍
05/28/2023: Reread! I never posted a review the first time I read this book but this book was such a delight to read. This is an enemies-to-lovers/roommates story with great banter and chemistry between the two main characters. I also loved the variety of secondary characters and their roles in the story. The plot really kept my interest from start to finish. I liked the twist in the end. This book had some great Down Syndrome representation and a quirky grandmother with two boyfriends. There were pranks, LARPing, and plenty of steamy times. I'm glad to get a refresher on the characters in this book so that they are fresh in my mind for when I pick up the second book.
Both characters were so immature and annoying. I couldn’t deal with how immature the heroine actually is . Her apartment gets set on fire and has to move in with the hero. She doesn’t really seem to care . She gets mad at the Hero for the stupidest the things like throwing a party and when he has people come clean the house she gets annoyed on how there is a guy pooping her bathroom and pranks the hero by throwing chickens in his room. Like first of all , it’s his HOUSE.
Heart Stopper is an AMAZING book! I loved Troy and Charlie and Michelle Hercules delivers an awesome story that you will want to definitely get your hands on. It is funny and cute but not without it's drama and heartbreak- when the "nerd" and the "player" get together it can definitely be an interesting story. These two will have you on the edge of your seats while trying to figure out what is going to happen next! I absolutely adored this book and highly recommend that you check it out!
PS: Thank you to Michelle Hercules and Give Me Books PR for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly.
Loved this! I was just going to put it on my TBR...but let's be honest...how many books on that list actually get read? And the teaser blurb kept coming up on my facebook, so I just stopped reading my other book and started this one. I was not disappointed! They say there is a fine line between love and hate. Charlie and Troy are firmly in the hate/loathe each other category with a good dose of unwanted lust thrown in. First impressions are important and theirs's made them enemies. These 2 are connected more than they know and when they become roommates things get HOT! Really excited for book 2 because that is going to be one interesting story!
I absolutely loved this book! It features the nerd-jock, enemies-to-lovers, and roommates tropes, and I was here for it. While Troy and Charlie despise each other at first, it’s never malicious, and it’s stemming from their stubbornness and the assumptions that they make about each other. I loved how the heroine was obsessed with LARPing (Live action role playing), and it gave your otherwise typical college sports romance a fresh spin to have some of the focus pulled from football and redirected to such a nerdy activity. Another thing I wanted to point out was despite the fact that the heroine is a nerd, she’s far from meek and mild and she has a mouth on her. I loved that about her!
I picked this book up because I saw the author had special editions coming out and I wanted to see if I liked the books enough to order them. I tried this one, the first in the series, but DNFd it about halfway through.
There was something about the writing, dialogue, and characters that just... irked me. It felt kind of juvenile?
Heart Stopper was a sexy, angsty page turner that had me hooked until the end. This novel included enemies to lovers, roommates romance and sport romance tropes into one entertaining read. The banter, the pranks, the tension all made this new adult romance one I enjoyed. as it was funny and sweet yet filled with drama. Charlie and Troy had amazing chemistry however because of their disastrous first meeting it lead to an all out war between them and took them awhile to give into their feelings for each other. I loved the push and pull between them, I loved the pranks and I loved the supporting characters. I enjoyed this novel and would recommend it to lovers of enemies to lovers romance.
Troy is the star quarterback who is confident in his skills on and off the field. The fact that he couldn’t even shown up on time did not earn him any brownie points, so Charlie decided not to pull any punches when it came to the story she wrote about him. Their paths should never had had to cross again until an unfortunate situation has them living together.
Now that they are living together it becomes a battle of the wills to outdo the other. As they spend time together they realize that first appearances can be deceiving and that the animosity between them might just be a cover for the heat that ignites every time they are together.
The interactions between Troy and Charlie are humorous, the chemistry between them is hot but there is much more to their journey and that is what makes this story so good.
Heart breaker was an incredibly enjoyable story that I absolutely loved reading. This story was full of humorous moments that had me laughing out loud and a good amount of sweetness. The two characters I absolutely adored and found they really made a great couple. The way they met really made me laugh and really showcased how much these two characters are opposites.
Charlie is a sassy heroine of the story that enjoyed larping. I really loved how caring she was with others and the relationship she had with her younger brother.
Troy was the swoon worthy hero of the story that I could not get enough. I really enjoyed how he was more than just a jock and had an incredible caring side to him.
I loved the banter between these two characters that were complete opposites. They made for such a perfect couple creating an enjoyable read.
