Lisa Morrow is a life-long reader who treasures fantasy in all forms. Being a middle child in a large family gave her a unique perspective on the world, but few experiences compare to her time spent studying abroad in Cambridge, England and wandering throughout Europe.

After her travels, Lisa settled down in Arizona to teach junior high English, and later, to spend time with her young children, husband, and cats. To some people, her life may seem quiet. But to her, every day is spent in a world colored by the imagination of children, and fantastical worlds created by her very own mind.

If I could, I would read every book I could get my hands on. I like how I find books I never would have chosen or picked myself that way. However, I'm not a vampire and I do need sleep, so I won't be able to read all the books in the world. Which means I became a little pickier when it comes to accepting ARCs. But when I got this book offered I was quite certain that I wanted to read this. And of course it did help that it's a novella, which makes it a quick read.

Even though the book is only a novella, it does take its time to build the world and the characters in this story. The prologue already shows us a lot of important things about our main character and the chapters afterwards show us everything about her upbringing and the people she surrounds herself with. And the book does so without info-dumping and without over-explaining. That's partly why this book is such a thrilling read.

Another part is the plot of the story and the breadcrumbs of secrets that have been scattered throughout this entire first book. We get to see some truly amazing ceremonies and parties, we hear loads of snippets of stories and those will without a doubt be expanded on later and last but not least we get to meet a lot of different characters who will without a doubt play a role in the story and everything that will need to happen to make this world a better place.

And yet it never becomes overwhelming or too much. That's also because in this book we only get one point of view. This helps to keep the story organized and easy to follow. It also help to keep a lot of secrets. Through the eyes of our main heroine, who is for a lot of different reasons a really great heroine for a story like this, we see loads of characters who have without a doubt a lot of answers for us, but who are not giving them. Yet.

I can't wait to read the next book, especially because it somehow feels like the story has only really started now.

Rose has never really had an easy life, and now she is put in an impossible situation. She has taken to looking after the farm as her father spends his time in a drunken stupor. Unfortunately, they are short on their taxes and the debt has been called in. Now she is faced with letting her father go to prison or marrying the tax collector's son as a way to pay of the debt-a son she has no interest in. The decision is out of her hands though as the whole village gathers for the Choosing ceremony. At the ceremony girls are picked, based on magical abilities, to serve a higher purpose and leave the town behind. So what is it going to be? Prison. Marriage. Chosen.

This is a fantastic kicking off point for a new series! It is the first I've read from the author but won't be the last for sure! It is a quick read that is easily read in one sitting. Though the descriptions are that of an epic story, there is a slow and gradual buildup of backgrounds and characters. There is a healthy sprinkling of intrigue and mystery in regards to Rose’s background. I look forward to reading more in this series and highly recommend it.

I’m dead! You’ve killed me! This is going to be the worst book hangover, I can already feel it! This book is so magnificent that the reader is sucked in and when it ends you’re like wait, wait PLEASE come back!! For goodness sake woman quit whatever other things you may think you need to do each day and write the words because THIS is why I read. This feeling! Someone revive me when the next book comes out because I’ll not survive until then, this one is just too good.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

Oh my what an interesting beginning this is. We meet Rose who has not had a very good life. Just when things are looking dire for her future choices The Choosing ceremony starts. This ceremony is for The Protectors to choose promising witches from the village. They have not been there for fifteen years though no one knows why. When Rose is chosen she is hoping for fantastic things but a few surprise twists have her questioning her decision. This leads to a cliff hanger that will wet your appetite for book two wondering what twist we will get next. Makes a great start to a new YA/NA paranormal series. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

Was curious about this book but found it unsatisfying and the ending was too abrupt. Not a cliffhanger but like the end of a chapter and not a true ending.

Rose has not had an easy life as of yet. She lost her mother at a young age and her father is a drunk. She is also treated poorly by others in town. Rose does all she can to make sure the farm runs. Again, she is short on taxes. She is told that she has a choice either marry the guys soon or lose everything. Rose knows that is not something she can choose. She still has to take part in the Chosen.
Rose and her friend go to the chosen ceremony. Rose is unsettled from what her father and another said. Rose is surprised that she was chosen. Things get out of control at ceremony. Rose will learn that being chosen is what is supposed to mean.

This was a fast-paced, well written story that will grab you from the start to finish. There is so much that I didn't write about, I recommend reading this. The character of Rose goes through some major discoveries and not all are good. The way the book ended, I wanted the next book immediately.

Rose was always the outcast in the village. With her mother gone missing when she was a little child and her father never sparing her a second glance, drowning his grief in ale instead, the possibility of being Chosen is quite appealing. More so, when she is threatened to get into unwanted marriage in order for her father to escape the debtor's prison and death by hanging for owing money on taxes. And indeed, Rose is chosen to become Protector, only the tales and myths surrounding the witches are not what they seem to be.
Fast and engaging read with great main character, promise of great magic and awe-inspiring creatures, and a group of people maybe willing to stand up to the evil. Rose has certainly the potential to grow more, and so has her strange connection to Asher whom she'd just met. And the ending... it's definitely a cliffhanger to which you know the outcome to, but the way how it happens remain a mystery.

Rose has grown up in a small town where she’s an outcast. Her disappeared mother, drunk father, and the looks that make resemble the enemy of Tara’s have served to keep Rose wanting something more for herself. The Choosing is slated to happen in her village after 15 years, and Rose hopes that she’ll be Chosen and escape her life. As a Protector of the realm she’ll never know hunger or despair again. And then she’s Chosen but something seems off. As Rose starts the journey to her new life, she can’t shake the feeling that things are not what they seem and maybe she should have stayed home.

The journey has only begun, but Rose has learned things that only cause more questions. What will she do and how will she survive? Lisa Morrow has started a journey that readers can’t help but be sucked into and race to get more.

This is a really great start to a series. Witch chosen sucked me in from the beginning and kept me interested in the story the entire time. This is definitely a story that can show you to be careful what you hope for. There are a lot of secrets and not everything is how it appears. I loved this world and the magic in it along with the premise. The choosing was very interesting and kept me wanting to know more about it and the other characters. Though this story does end on a huge cliffhanger so definitely need the next book because I need to know what’ll happen next. Rose has choices to make and to decide what she’s willing to do and risk. I definitely enjoyed Rose’s character a lot and what to know more about these secrets. Need the next book!

Really Cool!

Between the concept and the writing, I was blown away! It was just so awesome.

I don't usually read a lot of YA but thought I'd give this one a go and I did not regret my decision at all! I devoured this book in one sitting!

I love how strong the FMC is! She is both unsure of herself because she doesn't know who she is yet, but also so sure in the decisions she makes and I am really looking forward to seeing her grow.

What a cliff hanger of an ending though it practically killed me!
100% am going to read the next one when I can get my grubby little bookworm paws on it!

A great start to a young adult fantasy romance read

Rose, an outcast in her own village, tries hard to keep the family farm going. As the story progresses an opportunity to escape arises, the truth of her parents is partially shared, and the choices made could cost more than she thought. Lisa Morrow’s Witch Chosen is a great start to a young adult fantasy romance read. There is an evil queen, a cabal of protectors, and unknown powers to contend with.

I read this book with my Kindle Unlimited subscription and I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.

Absolutely loved this witchy tale! The book has just the right amount of action, magic and in-depth dialogue that it completely sucks you in! The FMC has a hard life and her journey to become someone important and where she belongs is such a beautiful story. There's trials and obstacles that our Rose must journey through and I loved being with her through it all. This book, although YA, has lots of potential and one of those books that surprises you in the best of ways! And I need more! Lisa has me hooked on this series right from the start, and I know it's going to get better and better as the story continues!

This book is fantastic!! The minute I picked it up I was not able to put it down until I was done and then I kept looking for more! It starts out in a village where people work to pay the kingdom taxes but people are suffering. You get to meet Rose who is a fierce FMC who stands up for what she believes in while trying to take care of the people she loves. It definitely takes a turn when you get into the meat of the story and then drops you off that cliffhanger! 😩 Definitely worth the read!! Cannot wait to find out what happens next! 💜🖤

I absolutely lovdd this book. Rose is such an interesting character. You can tell from the get go that she is destined for more than the small town full of people who look at her with disgust and her drunk father that wants nothing to do with her, until the choosing ceremony. Then everyone is giving her warnings that you know she should heed, but you also know she isn't going to. The world building is top notch and you are left wanting more. I can't wait for the next book to find out what happens.

I really enjoyed the start to this series. It may be a novella but it packs a lot in.
The world building is good, not too much info thrown at you too quickly but enough to pull you in.
Rose wants to be 'Chosen' to train with the witches to escape her depressed father and a marriage she doesn't want. As it gets closer to the ceremony she gets the feeling that all may not be as it seems.
I liked Rose, she was tough and stood up for herself but wasn't reckless or stubborn.
It ends of a cliffhanger but I can't wait for the next book.

Witch Chosen - The Order of the Cursed, Book 1 by Lisa Morrow is the first novella in this series and it certainly does set-up a thirst for the next several installments. Rose, the main character starts her journey as the typical child from a troubled youth, mom passed away young, dad in and out of trouble. Now she's off to take part in a chosen ceremony not knowing that her life is definitely going to get a whole lot more complicated and perilous. With quite a lot of information provided in this first installment, the story remains smooth and unhurried. Great start to this series!!!

What a solid start to this new series. I enjoy stories about witches and this has been one of the better ones in awhile.

Rose is the main female lead, who has not had such a great life. It seems to keep going until the Choosing ceremony, which is what the protectors get to choose a promising witch. Guess who gets chosen? So is this going to change her life for the good or bad?

Yes there is a cliffhanger but I really think that it will just have you excited for book two. So overall, a good solid start to this series. One that has me looking forward to book two.

Being Chosen isn't quite what it was cracked up to be, and Rose will have to find her way around that. As she navigates the pitfalls and traps of everything she's ever wanted, will questions in her past save her future?

Lisa Morrow weaves a skillful tale, drawing the reader in and leaving them at the end of the book wondering how they got there and why so many questions remain.

Bring on the next book, I must have more answers!

This is an amazing read that had me hooked from the very beginning. The characters are so real that you cannot help but love them and you feel as though you know them and no matter what you want to be there for them. This book moves along at a nice speed which makes for a comfortable read that you will not be able to put down once you start. This book needs to be read there is no doubt about it.

This book was not what I was expecting! I'm really excited to see what secrets will be revealed in the next book! Rose knows so little about her family's past and what her future will be. She was picked as one of the Chosen to become a Protector but things did not go as planned. Will she survive to save her best friend? Will her new male acquaintance have a lasting presence in her life? Will she learn to master her powers? Can't wait to find out!

A quick and interesting read, Witch Chosen centers on Rose, a young woman forced with a choice to marry a man she doesn’t love or allow her father to pay the consequences. Rose decides there is a third option for her, to take part in the Choosing. When Rose and her best friend are in fact chosen, they discover not all is as it appears and perhaps being chosen is not something to strive for. This was a great start to The Order of the Cursed series and I cannot wait for book 2!

This is the first novella in a series and I enjoyed the book. The story’s main character is Rose and she has had a really hard life as an outcast. She thinks she’ll escape her life when she is “Chosen”. This book is setting up the story and it’s a doozy. Towards the end is gets really exciting and things start to happen. I need to get the next book to see what happens.

I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.

Rose grew up with a father who sowed her little love, with the thought that her mother left and didn't love her and with the thought that the ultimate goal in life was to become one of the Chosen but every storey has two sides and things are not always as you would imagine or have been led to believe.
Join Rose in her journey of discovery in this really intriging YA Fantasy fully of action with some twists and turns you will not expect. Really well written and thourally enjoyable
